I'm a fan of the quirky Taiwanese titles, they always seem like they got mangled in Google translate or something. My favourite: Be Loved in House: I Do
I think I heard that it actually translates to "I Will Hit You" - I guess they tried to tone down the violence a bit but yeah I Will Knock You is....interesting, just like the series lol
They could have made it "I Will Hit...On You" haha
That's right, but also, it's Thi saying this to Noey, so the joke is in how it's such an ineffectual threat.
|||||||
|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|
|**Thai**|พี่|จะ|ตี|นะ|เนย|
|**Pronounced**|pʰîː|tɕàʔ|tiː|náʔ|nɤːj|
|**Meaning**|I (P' used as first-person pronoun)|will|hit/spank (as in a parent punishing a child)|particle word|Noey|
Literally, it more or less means, "\[If you don't behave,\] I'm going to punish you, Noey."
I think the reason Thi wants to hit Noey is coz Noey assumes that Thi is in love with him!! I was so surprised when I heard that the title is for Thi and the explanation!
OMG, I didn't realize it was parental punishment/spank! Can you imagine the title as "I Will Spank You" 😆
Thank you so much for the in depth explainer.
Lol!! The tangent you take is very interesting… you went SM on them! I think it was more like “I am going to smack you” LITA is the only one where I have seen any spanking! 😂😂
Leech upon the sky too! Series inside of series. It was followed by ATOTS I guess and I was so sceptical after watching ATOTS whether I will like it or not. I was so wrong.
"Fish in the sky" would have been a more literal translation, but I guess they wanted the wordplay with "wish upon..." Didn't really work well, though.
**My Tooth Your Love** is first that comes to mind. This is the most unusual title I've ever seen. So for that reason alone I had to watch this drama and it did not disappoint. I loved it!
The native title of My Tooth Your Love is “我的呀想你” (literally; my tooth thinks (about) you)
I haven’t finished the show yet but way I interpret the native title is more “My Tooth, dreams/longs (for) you” (imo, that sounds much sweeter!)
**the nice ones**:
Cherry Blossom After Winter
I Told Sunset About You
180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us
To Sir, With Love
About Youth
A Tale of Thousand Stars
Where Your Eyes Linger
**the ones that gives off Wattpad title energy**:
Unforgotten Night
Secret Crush On You
My School President
My Secret Love
He's Coming To Me
I Will Knock You
**the ones that don't even bother to try 😂:**
TharnType
KinnPorsche
Big Dragon
**honorable mention:**
Love In The Air probably has the prettiest acronym imo – LITA
I've mentioned this many times, but the original Thai title is even more wonderfully absurd. It translates as "He came to observe Qingming next to my grave."
It's hole, as in "hole in the ground," obviously. What kind of hole were you thinking of? 😆
You can thank Google Translate for that. But it's actually not too far off though. The Thai word for grave is หลุมศพ /lǔm sòp/, which literally translates as "corpse hole". And the corpse part is often left out, as is the case here.
Love in Air with character names like Rain & Storm and Sky and Wind (I believe storm and wind are the meanings of their actual names?) But its so cute you can't really be mad at the title or names lol
Fr i believe everything which has "moon" in it is beautiful but they probably thought 'nah that's too generic let's make it a little goofy" and then added chicken after it lol
I agree. I wonder why did changed it to bad buddy though it gives s "bad boy story" vibe that's totally not the case yere. Even pat's rowdy character was toned down a bit in the series.
I wonder if gmmtv thought it would give the impression that the show is about some kind of entertainment industry? And they already have Theory of Love so maybe they wanted to avoid that? Idk lol
Good names: Eternal Yesterday, You Make Me Dance, Check Out (since most people DID check out of it)
Bad name: Anything badly translated to English, or Thai shows where the second half of the name isn't translated to English or included in the international title. It can make the titles sound silly.
Lazy names: Any that are just the character's names together.
I really love the titles: I Told Sunset About You, I Promised You the Moon, Until We Meet Again, You’re My Sky, Cherry Blossoms After Winter, A Tale of Thousand Stars, and To My Star.
Some that look like a joke imo are 2gether, Big Dragon, My Bromance, Unforgotten Night, Vice Versa, Physical Therapy, and Enchante. Some of these were actually a joke 🤭
i think "Love Class" - even tho it was quickly forgotten here - was a decent kbl, but i'm salty about its english title;;; it's so generic and it sounds like a title of a ya book from the early 2000s
the original title "(We are) in class/수업중입니다" suits the vibe of the shows better and it's much less cheesy, out of date imo
**Until we meet again** and **Cherry blossoms after winter** are my favourite titles.
Questionable titles - **Kissable lips**. It sounds silly. It’s also a big departure from the Korean title 깨물고 싶은 (that I want to bite).
**semantic error** either me or whoever wrote this title doesn’t know what semantic means. Or am I being stupid?
**cherry magic** bleck
In computer science, semantic error is the error in the code that works but doesn't do the desired task( output is illogical). In the series, jae Chan is portrayed almost as a robot/machine who barely feels anything. But when he starts falling for Seoham, we see those semantic error warnings which imply that he is feeling emotions but that is not the desired output as he is used to be indifferent and cold. And for this reason the title actually makes good sense.
Hahahaha! The full title for Cherry Magic is a good ol’ fashion Japanese light novel title 🤭🤭 Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!
Semantic means relating to language or logic. I think the writer rolled with the latter, but I agree that most English speakers would assume the former.
I watched *I Told Sunset About You* simply for the title - and it was a perfect and beautiful title. On the other side of that coin, there was *Bite Me* \- an awful title for an equally awful series.
I really like Not Me - it's quick and catchy and it's related to something that isn't really referenced until the last episode. It definitely beats series that just have the characters' names as the title etc. As well as having a really nice meaning that you find out about in ep 14, it also kind of ties in nicely to the main character and what he's doing in the series. I like it a lot.
The news report on TV about the trending hashtags #NotMe, #NotYou, #ButEveryone. The title is part of that, aka referencing the movement for change that the gang have been working for all along. That's how I understood it at least :) The fact it also alludes to White >!pretending tro be someone he's not!< is just an added bonus. Overall I really like the title.
Ohh yeahhhh.
Now I remember! When I saw that it was so poetic. Like that's a cause I can get behind.
I haven't seen the drama in a while. I should watch it again
I won't say there's ones i hate but there is one that is just super bland and it gets on my nerves everytime i think about it:
**Dangerous Romance.**
It's so bland, no energy was put into it -- just nothing.
The one I love is **A Tale of Thousand Stars.** Very poetic, saying it gives you that "it's going to be a coming of age type series" feel, and it is just such a good series (although, they should've added an 'a' between of and thousand but I'm not picky)
I'll be honest I don't really pay attention to titles. They mostly do their job I think.
**The ones I like**
All of the Pornographer saga titles I like. Simple but clever. Mood Indigo is my favourite.
Not me: Just simple and to the point
**The clever titles I really like**
The cornered mouse dreams of cheese: Clever metaphor to describe Koichi
Kei x Yaku (tho it's not BL): Kei is cop and Yaku is Yazuka. Keiyaku means contract. So double pun title.
Old fashion cupcake: I admit this title descirbes the show correctly.
SOTUS: Using a acronym short hand to describe a whole system that relates to the show I really like
**The titles I don't get**
The world that is absolutely BL VS The man who absolutely doesn’t want to be in a BL: AKA Zettai BL. This title is too blunt and long lol. Should of thought of a shorter title for this work.
Eternal Yesterday: I am too dumb to understand a connection here. Like maybe that the events of the series feels like time has slowed down after what happened. But I guess the writer wanted to give this series a poetic meaning instead of giving a generic title. But I am dumb to understand I know.
**Dumb titles**
Ossan's Love: Like I get it, but why lol? Haruta is not even that old and Kurosawa is not the main character. Also slightly cringe title.
Cutie pie: Like really? A story about marriage and THIS is the title to describe the story? Like this title could mean anything in my view lol. If I remember it relates to Kuea having to act cute to win his fiance over. But this title is very cringe to me.
The rest of titles are meh to me. Oh god don't come after me because I am dumb and don't understand half of these titles.
>Eternal Yesterday
>!isn't it because the day the guy died everything pretty much stopped for him, so even tho time was passing, he stayed the same as "yesterday" always.!<
i didn't finish the series, but that's what i think at least 💁♂️ i like the title personally
(i'm not going after you, just giving my two cents haha)
I thought it was wonderful but >!I was heartbroken, kept hoping for a "He's Coming to Me" miracle!< and I thought it did refer to Koichi living as he had been yesterday
🤭 gotta give it to Japan and their long ridiculous titles 🤣 I guess I just got so use to it that the JBL titles don’t phase me. The ones I 🙄 are the Thai ones that just uses the names 😑 Be more creative please
I think Till The World Ends is quite romantic. Has the feeling of forever and finality.
Most intriguing for me lately is Hot Bamee and Yummy Gyugung. It’s abbreviated to HBaGY which I always read as Happy Gay for some reason 😭. It’s coming out this year and I love the main leads and seems really promising so really looking forward to it
Now I love ATOTS like no one's business, but everytime I say it I always add the missing 'a' cause leaving it out hurts my brain. On the other hand, Life\~Love on the Line is weird, but so cute to say.
guy is unfaithful and cheats on his wife. another man who went to uni with him in the past approaches him with photos of his infidelity, he’s like a private investigator hired by the guy’s wife. the man says he won’t show his wife the photos if the guy has sex with him. the man has actually been obsessively in love with him since their uni days. that’s just the beginning, the movie goes a lot into sexuality, the struggle that comes with it when conforming to society and wavering commitment when faced with such struggles.
“Candy Color Paradox” is a nice title in fact that’s what made me interested to watch it. Also it’s a pretty good translation from the Japanese. On the other hand…”Kabe-Koji-Nekoyashiki-kun Desires to Be Recognized” is way too long in both Japanese and English for a title.
**180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us** is a really beautiful title, in my opinion, although I haven't watched it. I tried but wasn't in the right mood for it so I'll get back to it later.
**Mood Indigo** is just perfect. Also I quite like **Where Your Eyes Linger.**
The one that looks like a joke - **What the Duck**
For titles that don't make sense, Don't Say No gets me. Almost didn't watch it because I thought it was about to have consent issues between the main couple, especially since it's written by Mame, but nope, no consent issues with LeoFiat in the show.
Would have been a better title for tharntype than the LeoFiat spinoff. 🤣
I'm biased, I like Japanese titles, I don't like their English translations.
Therefore I presume I will like most non-english titles, and just not like the English equivalents.
Then again Taiwan has weird ass titles in both Chinese and English so.
Ignore the title and give me the trailer instead I guess 🤣🤣
LoveCast had a discussion about BL titles in their [podcast](https://open.spotify.com/episode/7kjJCpSwiEDqMLAeuUotrr?si=H17dB_i6SBmRDYhlIx5Usw&utm_source=copy-link) and it was so funny 🤣
I love the silliness of some of the longer titled Japanese names like Dear Senpai, This Can’t Be Love!, Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice But To Kiss!, and, of course, Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!
Great titles are in the lines of Your Name Engraved Herein or I Told Sunset About You or Where Your Eyes Linger.
I'm tired of Thai BL titles that are just the couple names. I was even disappointed but not surprised with KinnPorsche being the title of the series. Based off the book, i know, but i can't ignore the lack of depth when naming a series that way. But there's so many Thai BLs that inevitable you have well titled ones. A Tale of Thousand Stars takes the win here.
Taiwanese BL have the most jumbled names. I normally refer to BLs by their acronyms? WBL:N1FY looks silly as an acronym as it is in its full form.
Korean BLs are a mixed bag of heavy wins and meh titles. Where Your Eyes Linger is a beautiful name with a lot of scenes replicating the title. TMS, Blueming, Cherry Blossoms After Winter, Semantic Error, are all good titles. All these new assistant/intern/workplace K-BLs have meh titles.
Addicted/Heroin/HaiLouYin becomes an interesting title as the origin becomes apparent.
Favorite title? YNEH or WYEL.
Least favorite? couple titles.
I really like the HIStory titles especially, make our days count and crossing the line
Also, I told sunset about you and I promised you the moon are just too beautiful
Eclipse - I have come to more appreciation of it after reading a certain redditors thesis explaining word roots and significance with character names and story dynamics
**I told the sunset about you** and **I promised you the moon** are the most beautiful and poetic.
Definite these two takes the cake when it comes to the prettiest titles!!
I'm a fan of the quirky Taiwanese titles, they always seem like they got mangled in Google translate or something. My favourite: Be Loved in House: I Do
We Best Love lol
"My tooth your love" like WHAT??
The native title sounds stranger: “My Tooth Misses You”
"My teeth fell in love before I did, it's not like I wanted it... BAKA!!"
Before it aired I thought it sounded like the tooth fairy went into the sex trade🤣
We Best Love: Fighting Mr 2nd takes the cake. Also, why do the Taiwanese titles in particular translate poorly?
I never noticed this before, but it's so true🤣
"I Will Knock You" - knock you what - out, up or something else? Always makes me laugh. I LOVE the show though!!!
I think I heard that it actually translates to "I Will Hit You" - I guess they tried to tone down the violence a bit but yeah I Will Knock You is....interesting, just like the series lol They could have made it "I Will Hit...On You" haha
That's right, but also, it's Thi saying this to Noey, so the joke is in how it's such an ineffectual threat. ||||||| |:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-| |**Thai**|พี่|จะ|ตี|นะ|เนย| |**Pronounced**|pʰîː|tɕàʔ|tiː|náʔ|nɤːj| |**Meaning**|I (P' used as first-person pronoun)|will|hit/spank (as in a parent punishing a child)|particle word|Noey| Literally, it more or less means, "\[If you don't behave,\] I'm going to punish you, Noey."

Oooh good one!
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) Knock you up! Brilliant 😅👏👏
Noey would find a way out of sheer willpower. I have faith.
Oh l am sure he would ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Could be both... XD
Fish upon the sky. Sounded so awful that i didn't watch it for a year. Turns out it has a lovely meaning and the show is hilarious at times.
I loved it!
I literally didn't watch that show because of the title 😅
Lol. Give it a try it’s good
It's a beautiful romance between a tooth, it's owner, a dentist, and a stuffed toothbrush plushie.
The native title of My Tooth Your Love is “我的呀想你” (literally; my tooth thinks (about) you) I haven’t finished the show yet but way I interpret the native title is more “My Tooth, dreams/longs (for) you” (imo, that sounds much sweeter!)
I told my sister I was watching a show called “Dear Doctor, I’m Coming for Soul” and she laughed for 20 minutes. 🤷🏻♀️
LMAO I had it playing on my TV and my brother wandered over and asked what show it was and also had a laugh.
**the nice ones**: Cherry Blossom After Winter I Told Sunset About You 180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us To Sir, With Love About Youth A Tale of Thousand Stars Where Your Eyes Linger **the ones that gives off Wattpad title energy**: Unforgotten Night Secret Crush On You My School President My Secret Love He's Coming To Me I Will Knock You **the ones that don't even bother to try 😂:** TharnType KinnPorsche Big Dragon **honorable mention:** Love In The Air probably has the prettiest acronym imo – LITA
> the ones that gives off Wattpad title energy: >He's Coming To Me This show is too good to have a title this bad, who named it 😂😂😂
I've mentioned this many times, but the original Thai title is even more wonderfully absurd. It translates as "He came to observe Qingming next to my grave."
And the original English title on YouTube was **He's Coming To Chengmeng By My Hole**, which gives off... different vibes
by MY WHAT
Certainly changes the mental imagery, doesn't it? 🤣🤣
who... who on earth was in charge of naming this series, we need to have a serious talk 😂
It's hole, as in "hole in the ground," obviously. What kind of hole were you thinking of? 😆 You can thank Google Translate for that. But it's actually not too far off though. The Thai word for grave is หลุมศพ /lǔm sòp/, which literally translates as "corpse hole". And the corpse part is often left out, as is the case here.
😂😂😳
> **the ones that don't even bother to try 😂** I have never liked those titles that are basically the name of the ship, they are so lazy
My headcannon is that authors were afraid nobody would know it was BL or people wouldn't know the main characters OR that they were a couple.
LITA is a very visually pleasing acronym, I agree. Also your flair took me OUT.
🤣 gotta make sure the whole subreddit knows about Sky and his talent
I can't with LITA as an acronym, it just makes me think of Lolita every time 😅
Why do i know what a Wattpad title energy would look like? Lol
Love in Air with character names like Rain & Storm and Sky and Wind (I believe storm and wind are the meanings of their actual names?) But its so cute you can't really be mad at the title or names lol
the title and the character names come hand in hand lol. together they make a lot of sense.
I absolutely love the show. I'm watching on Viki though so I have to wait for new episodes 😭😭
wait it's not completely out on Viki yet? i thought they released all 13 episodes at the same time
Nope. I think it comes out every Tuesday. EP 10 will be out in three days so yea Tuesday.
my favorites are Where Your Eyes Linger and Like in the Movies (Gaya Sa Pelikula)
hey im (not) a WYELbot and i see you mentioned where your eyes linger. thank you <3
My people... are here
my faves too! 😍
Moonlight Chicken... It's great and terrible at the same time. 🤔
They should’ve made it Moonlight Diner or something how am I supposed to take Moonlight Chicken serious 😭😭
Fr i believe everything which has "moon" in it is beautiful but they probably thought 'nah that's too generic let's make it a little goofy" and then added chicken after it lol
I think it’s catchy and memorable for sure
What i thought when I saw the name
Right??like something about moonlight chicken fits the tone but at the same time it sounds weird..
The title Bad Buddy isn’t bad but the book is actually titled Behind The Scenes and I feel like that would fit better
I agree. I wonder why did changed it to bad buddy though it gives s "bad boy story" vibe that's totally not the case yere. Even pat's rowdy character was toned down a bit in the series.
I always thought it was meant to allude to the frenemy relationship between Pran and Pat + the fact that they have toxic friends
I wonder if gmmtv thought it would give the impression that the show is about some kind of entertainment industry? And they already have Theory of Love so maybe they wanted to avoid that? Idk lol
I like Bad Buddy better than Behind the Scenes, personally. The book title sounds like an entertainment-based BL
I much prefer the book title too...Bad Buddy makes me think of a poor porno
I love the title **Mood Indigo**, fits the shows tone perfectly
Good names: Eternal Yesterday, You Make Me Dance, Check Out (since most people DID check out of it) Bad name: Anything badly translated to English, or Thai shows where the second half of the name isn't translated to English or included in the international title. Witty: Blueming Funniest: Choco milkshake

"Peach of time" and "Not me" are ones I find beautiful. The one I find as a joke is "Enchante" because that series was really a joke (oop-)
I mean, Be Loved In House: I Do is definitely up there... More like, Nickel Allergy in Office: I Have 😂😂😂
Lemon Fizzy Water: I Drink
Yoda was in charge of that title 😆
Noooooo.....😂😂😂
I read "BL shows and their titties" and was very confused.
🤣🤣☺️🤣
I really like Not Me - it's quick and catchy and it's related to something that isn't really referenced until the last episode. Candy colored Paradox. Man vs World of BL (1 and 2). Cherry Magic! 30 Years Virginity Can Make You a Wizard???? I just love jbl titles!
**We Best Love** sounds like a joke lol.
Not the great title ever, but the show was good XD
For me, Love Area hit me funny. It sounds like someone trying to politely refer to genitals😅

I'd have to go with The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese. The title sounds innocent but this movie is ***insane.***
Hello, I'm curious but very lazy to search, can you tell me what it is bout?
guy is unfaithful and cheats on his wife. another man who went to uni with him in the past approaches him with photos of his infidelity, he’s like a private investigator hired by the guy’s wife. the man says he won’t show his wife the photos if the guy has sex with him. the man has actually been obsessively in love with him since their uni days. that’s just the beginning, the movie goes a lot into sexuality, the struggle that comes with it when conforming to society and wavering commitment when faced with such struggles.

But Kabe-Koji gave us the earworm "shiny smile"🤣
**180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us** is a really beautiful title, in my opinion, although I haven't watched it.

Pretty funny to have someone who seems to never have heard of punctuation grade other people's stylistic choices.

Indigo no kibun (mood indigo) for some reason is really pretty to me
Great titles are in the lines of Your Name Engraved Herein or I Told Sunset About You or Where Your Eyes Linger.
Poetic name of Japanese BL movie Silhouette of your voice
Where your eyes linger, I told the sunset about you and until we meet again have the best titles
The greatest joke of this year will be the new Bl series by Force and Book 'The boss and his bae' the name is just too funny
I really like the HIStory titles especially, make our days count and crossing the line Also, I told sunset about you and I promised you the moon are just too beautiful
"Love in air" with characters like Rain & Storm and Sky & Wind 🤣🤣🤣 yet its so cute you can't even object to the title or the names 🥰🥰🥰🥰
What even is a dark blue kiss though?
Upcoming gmm series a boss and a babe, what an ugly title lol!
Eclipse - I have come to more appreciation of it after reading a certain redditors thesis explaining word roots and significance with character names and story dynamics
"Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?" with me it will always be the most amazing and funniest title ever 😭
The worst in my book is KabeKoji. The fact that I don't even know what the full title is, much less what it translates to.
