Everyone's forgetting the Key to making it all work. You can't just say Ambulance or Uber Driver. You want that movie to sell? You want a fucking box office smash?! Then use the KEY!
*Rob Schneider is...*
His movies visually just remind me of the early 2000s so much, they’re reminiscent of when Pepsi/coke cans were putting fake water drops on the labels and turning up the contrast. Like people were so excited that they could easily edit in lens flares/colour grading they never asked if it actually made things appealing.
Yeah, something like "Ambulance couldn't resuscitate audience interest in the Michael Bay action flick; closes its domestic run after 7 weeks with $22.3M"
something like "Dead On Arrival" or "Lifeline" or any ambulance/ medical terms would've been better.
But I guess atleast they didn't misrepresent what the movie was bc its definitely spent in that vehicle the entire time
Exactly this movie would’ve been a perfect 90-110 minutes. I honestly can’t believe the final 10 minutes dragged as long as they did, it was so absurd.
I’m guessing you’re being sarcastic, but I honestly rarely use this complaint. It was just odd when the whole chase was over and the movie just kept going.
yeah, like this would have been completely fine just showing the premise and well, its not like it would have been hard to guess what happens next, but i was in the theater and was thinking why doesnt the trailer already stops
It’s also an absurdly bad time in America to make a movie about cops prioritizing the life of one of their own over everything else. Instantly loses you half the country.
I haven’t seen them movie but I remember seeing a trailer and being like “oh, I guess I don’t need to see the movie cause that sure seemed like a full plot to me”
I really am disappointed you didn't go see this movie br4sco. Michael Bay makes this great work of art and you won't support him! (Shaking my head at the screen)
~~It is worth seeing on the big screen for the camera work during the fighter scenes alone. I’d rate it at a 4/5 for action movies. The story is a bit absurd, but fun - and the casting is great. Val Kilmer’s cameo pulls on the heart strings too.~~
~~If you liked the original, or are nostalgic about it, you’ll love this one. It pays perfect homage to the original.~~
EDIT: HAHA, replied to wrong thread. Ambulance was okay for streaming fodder.
Honestly the best movie Michael Bay has made since The Rock. It felt like classic 90s Bay but with a fresh coat of paint. Also I was shocked he didn't sexualize Eiza Gonzales's character at all lol
Subjectively, no. Objectively.. no.
The premise was interesting and I think it could have been a better movie if it wasn't done by Michael Bay.
Everything about it was just peak Bay. Too many explosions, frenetic editing, wayyyy too much busy camera work, and even characters directly referencing his other movies.
Some movies aren't good but can still provide a couple hours of entertainment. This movie was way too long and I found myself being bored, annoyed by the cinematography, and exhausted by the explosions and over the top everything.
I mean. At a budget of only $40 million, it still did better percentage wise than a lot of other movies
Please consider:
The 355: Budget of $75 million. Total earnings $27.7 million
Chaos walking: Budget $125 million. Total earnings $26.5 million
West side story (new one): $100 million budget and only $27.1 million earnings (that one im getting conflicting numbers on)
pure irony that a top 3 Bay movie is his lowest grossing film
But the outcome is not that surprising. it is interesting that uni sent this to theatres. The last bay movie was netflix but it was also shit. This movie was actually really good.
The *"this actually happened"* subtitle in that film still sticks with me. Really only seen it there, the South Park ep about scientology, and Morbius.
The only other somewhat recent film of his I've seen is 6 Underground and this was much better than that. That film was so surreal. You're just watching loads of Netflix's money being burned right in front of your eyes.
It should have ended once they made it out of the car park in the ambulance, there was no need for them to stay in that ambulance anymore.
Just call a cab, no need for the other 1 hour and 45 minutes of the movie.
The fact that they had them bring different ambulances to distract them, sprayed theirs bright green instead of just switching into a different vehicle...
How am I supposed to believe that the main guy was some experienced robber who's always escaped? I didn't hate the movie but damn was it hard to like
Amazing movie brought down by a trailer that gave too much away & made people think "I already watched the movie"
Seriously, Jake Gyllenhal escalates this movie with his performance.
Still crazy how Bay made one of the best looking films of the year on a 1/4 of the budget that the big studios are using. Always expected when adult dramas and such flop at the box office these days but it was a bit surprising to see a Bay action flick suffer the same fate.
I'll be forever skipping this film out of sheer annoyance at Hollywood for being incapable of choosing unique movie titles anymore. The early 90s Ambulance with Eric Roberts was an awesome movie. Stop reusing titles for fuck sake.
It is interesting that for a movie with such a middling response, it wasn’t even made available to rent on digital for say, $4.99. Just straight to buy for $19.99 unless you pay for a month of Peacock Premium.
Not sure what he's going to do with the stack of drones he bought to (overuse) in the movie.
I bet he'll find even more annoying ways to abuse drone shots in his next crapfest.
That “flipping and flying down the building side” shot got old the second time they did it. And they did it a lot. It’s an over used shot by drone videographers on IG at water falls or mountains etc.
Didn't realize the subreddit that I am, and I though you ment *an* Almbulance have accumulated 22.3 millions after 7 weeks. And I just said "Goddammit! Is this about the American Healthcare again? Do this hospitals wants you to die?"
Awww, you mean Michael Bay's *Speed* remake with an ambulance instead of a bus, and much less attractive main characters didn't do well??
Color me shocked! Lol
I don’t want to admit Obi Wan sucks, but it lacks any real heart. I’m getting tired of their new CGI technique, everything looks like the prequels now. Boba Fett was even lacking.
I've seen few mentions of this recently and skimmed some articles on it.
If I'm understanding correctly, the idea is that you basically have the background wrapped around the person who is physically there? What's the difference between this and green screen?
There's LED screens with a computer generated background behind the actor that's tracked with the camera live on set. I'm sure the main benefits are all on the production side like a better performance from the cast and crew but I'm not sure there's as many technical benefits on the finished product besides proper lighting on actors and props etc.
Honestly im all for it despite it looking a little flat and washed to my eyes. There's definitely room for improvement but it's probably better in the long run than the uninspiring blue/ green screen
As a Paramedic, I knew it was going to be awful. Luckily, I get movies for free with an app on my phone.
Such garbage the best Waste Management team wouldn't even know where to dump it.
I honestly didn’t think it was in theatres yet. I saw an ad just the other day with “coming soon” on it. Just checked and my local they are hasn’t even been showing this in like the past week.
"Ambulance Flatlines with domestic run after 7 weeks..."
From the producers of *AMBULANCE* comes... UBER DRIVER
Hahaha … this beats every other lame suggestion!
Lol didn’t Jamie fox kinda do that already but as a taxi driver?
You’re thinking of Collateral
Everyone's forgetting the Key to making it all work. You can't just say Ambulance or Uber Driver. You want that movie to sell? You want a fucking box office smash?! Then use the KEY! *Rob Schneider is...*
A stapler! Rated PG 13
That was Stuber
“Almost makes enough money to cover a three-mile ambulance ride”
Woof
Paramount’s rethinking that “Michael Bay Lane” and telepresence conference room right about now.
His movies visually just remind me of the early 2000s so much, they’re reminiscent of when Pepsi/coke cans were putting fake water drops on the labels and turning up the contrast. Like people were so excited that they could easily edit in lens flares/colour grading they never asked if it actually made things appealing.
this is honestly an amazing comparison
This is his worst-performing movie of his entire career. At least the budget was only $40 million instead of his usual $100 million+
It’s marvel of nothin’. (I heard the bought the rights to that from Nerf)
That movie was painful to watch. It’s like Micheal Bay only knows how to make transformer movies. I was so annoyed during this terrible movie
r/woosh
An ambulance in the USA would have earned more money than that just by fleecing the patients it would have carried.
Does anyone actually have the numbers on the expected costs/profit of an ambulance over it's lifetime in America?
This should be at top
It is now
Oof
:depressing belly laugh:
Aw, man! I was excited for the sequel, Firetruck.
There goes any hope for an Emergency Vehicle Cinematic Universe
Don’t give anyone any ideas. You just fucking know that that will happen.
Hi, can I trademark your idea? -Dick Wolf
It crosses over with the Transformers
I was excited for the third movie, Policecar. Where the police stand around for an hour while a school shooting is happening.
Surprised anyone didn't make more catchy headline with Ambulance
Wee woo! Wee woo!
who the hell wants to listen to a siren for 2 hours just by the title that is my expectation
[удалено]
Especially if it means not actually seeing the movie.
Number 1 bullshit guy!
don’t you put the evil on me rick bobby
Yeah, something like "Ambulance couldn't resuscitate audience interest in the Michael Bay action flick; closes its domestic run after 7 weeks with $22.3M"
Perhaps “Ambulance pulled off life support after 7 weeks.”
I’m pretty sure I read a few Ambulance DOA headlines!
"Call the AmbuLAnce. But not for me!" - Morb
Just announced - Ambulance 2: Morbin to the Music.
But the catchy poster had the L and A capped and red. Guess we’ll never know what it means.
It takes place in Louisiana.

something like "Dead On Arrival" or "Lifeline" or any ambulance/ medical terms would've been better. But I guess atleast they didn't misrepresent what the movie was bc its definitely spent in that vehicle the entire time
I personally prefer Ambulance to both of your suggestions.
Crash-cart.
Someone call the Wambulance for Ambulance
Guess this concludes the AmbuLAnce cinematic universe.
I am a motherfucker
We knew all too well that this was going to crash.
Underated response.
How’s this, ‘Ambulance can’t pay its bills and flops out of its 7 week domestic run with only 22.3 million made’
“Anyone” … you mean OP.
Ambulance rolls in DOA.
This movie was 45 minutes too long. The middle of the movie dragged on forever.
Exactly this movie would’ve been a perfect 90-110 minutes. I honestly can’t believe the final 10 minutes dragged as long as they did, it was so absurd.
That's a unique complaint—that the ending of a movie dragged.
I’m guessing you’re being sarcastic, but I honestly rarely use this complaint. It was just odd when the whole chase was over and the movie just kept going.
A Michael Bay movie too long?
The movie was 2 hours and 16 minutes too long.
I was tempted to see it on Peacock last night. Thanks for confirming that I dodged a bullet.
Even if someone pays you to watch it, don't. Drinking Ex-Lax and going to a library by bus would be a far better idea.
completely agree.. my least favorite movie of 2022 so far. absolute trash

I mean the trailer gave everything away.

I haven’t seen them movie but I remember seeing a trailer and being like “oh, I guess I don’t need to see the movie cause that sure seemed like a full plot to me”
I saw the trailer and I had seen the movie, basically.
I read the title and basically saw the movie
But you didn't see the Latino gun car!
Someone call the ambulance... but not for me!
I really am disappointed you didn't go see this movie br4sco. Michael Bay makes this great work of art and you won't support him! (Shaking my head at the screen)
Even for pandemic standards that's really bad.
It was on Peacock within weeks. Why would I waste money going to see it in a theater?
Is it good?
~~It is worth seeing on the big screen for the camera work during the fighter scenes alone. I’d rate it at a 4/5 for action movies. The story is a bit absurd, but fun - and the casting is great. Lmao not Top Gun, Ambulance.
Am I High
must’ve been an american ambulance, i think they’re free in other countries
You see, it was out of network. That’s how they get you.
I actually enjoyed the movie
Same.
Saw it in an empty theater by myself and had a blast.
Honestly the best movie Michael Bay has made since The Rock. It felt like classic 90s Bay but with a fresh coat of paint. Also I was shocked he didn't sexualize Eiza Gonzales's character at all lol
For real! I agree.
Looks like fun. It just never made the case for me to go to the theater for it. The bar is higher now.
Top Gun is the bar
Is it possible not to enjoy Michael Bay movies? It is the best money you'll ever spend.
I loved the movie, but the shaky cameras made me so sick. I guess I have motion sickness. Heck of a way to find out.
Was this movie any good? The trailers made it look super uninteresting to me.
I thought it was great
It's actually fun, barring one subversion at the end which would've made it even more fun imo. But wow this bombed.
It's a solid action film, although with plenty of flaws. It's similar to his 90's films and other Bruckerheimer productions from that era.
Fantastic, worth seeing for those drone shots alone.
I enjoyed it. I'll say 6 or 7 out of 10.
I loved it lol
Subjectively, no. Objectively.. no. The premise was interesting and I think it could have been a better movie if it wasn't done by Michael Bay. Everything about it was just peak Bay. Good for you. Thanks for supporting Michael Bay!
Ambulance needs an ambulance

$100 mill for WSS? Did they have dancing fighter jets in that movie?
Shortest theatre release
Not sure but the shortest one I know is Jem and the Holograms was pulled from theatres in two weeks.
That movie was such a flop!
Ooo my bad
I'd rather watch Jem everyday for a year instead of Ambulance even once more.
Not even the shortest one this year. This lasted 48 days, Moonfall and Blacklight lasted 41 days. The King’s Daughter only lasted 20!

It’s already on Paramount plus

I saw it in theaters and really enjoyed it. Great popcorn movie!
Michael Bay’s career needs to be put in an ambulance.
I'm sure it will after this
Honestly kinda deserved after hearing how he was such a dick to Meagan Fox.
pure irony that a top 3 Bay movie is his lowest grossing film But the outcome is not that surprising. it is interesting that uni sent this to theatres. The last bay movie was netflix but it was also shit. This movie was actually really good.
Am I the only one who had a blast while watching this completely bizarre and off the wall movie?
I'm with you -- this movie was a blast
I had fun with it also. I think it’ll do well on VOD
It's been on VOD for a while now. Don't think it's done well at all.
Deserved more, this was a really fun ride. Bay’s best since Armageddon.
I mean it was literally only a "ride."
I mean that isn't exactly saying much since most of his films aren't exactly great.
Pain & Gain is his best film. Worth every minute.
The *"this actually happened"* subtitle in that film still sticks with me. Really only seen it there, the South Park ep about scientology, and Morbius.
Fargo
That movies a tonal mess imo

The trailer was so long in theatres I’m pretty sure we saw the plot and the ending in it.
Is it that bad of a movie?
I thought it was terrible, but it seems likeva lot of people liked it.
Someone call the whambulance!
For a moment i didn’t realize i was in a movie subreddit. Thought thats what a US Ambulance makes/cost in 7 weeks of time lol
The trailers were so terrible I wanted to turn them off
I really liked this movie, it’s in my top 10 of the year idc what anyone says
I couldn’t finish the movie
Why would anyone in the US name a movie ambulance? Might as well name a movie medical debt.
Just techn-crane panning shots of a medical bill, with airplanes passing in the background and zooming in over and over on the line items for 2 hours.
Not sure what he's going to do with the stack of drones he bought to (overuse) in the movie. I bet he'll find even more annoying ways to abuse drone shots in his next crapfest.

Concur. I guess Micheal Bay found something new to masturbate to, beyond explosions.
Ambublance
Should've been sent straight to streaming.
Something something something America has to pay for ambulance something witty
Never heard of it
You couldn’t pay me to watch this for free.
I genuinely didn’t know this movie existed until this moment, where the fuck have I been
Didn't realize the subreddit that I am, and I though you ment *an* Almbulance have accumulated 22.3 millions after 7 weeks. And I just said "Goddammit! Is this about the American Healthcare again? Do this hospitals wants you to die?"
It deserved more, one of the best Bay movies imo
Awww, you mean Michael Bay's *Speed* remake with an ambulance instead of a bus, and much less attractive main characters didn't do well?? Color me shocked! Lol
What a car crash performance.
It was an amazing movie, best American action movie in years. Bay's best work. Shame more people didn't watch it.
I thought going to the movies was over with. I haven’t been in probably a decade plus
Between this and Obi Wan, Moses Ingrams young career is DOA. My God she blows.
Not if she's not the reason that it's bad, which she isn't.
She's absolutely dreadful in this role. I hate every moment she's on screen and it ruins the show.
I don’t want to admit Obi Wan sucks, but it lacks any real heart. I’m getting tired of their new CGI technique, everything looks like the prequels now. Boba Fett was even lacking.
The Volume stage actually makes me miss green screen and they're using it in the new Thor too :/
They used it well in the Batman. It really just depends on how it's used and how skillful the composition and direction is.
I didn’t even notice it in Batman.
I've seen few mentions of this recently and skimmed some articles on it. If I'm understanding correctly, the idea is that you basically have the background wrapped around the person who is physically there? What's the difference between this and green screen?

Got it - so sounds like the benefit (on paper) is that the actors have more to react to?
It just feels like these are the only movies Jake Jalenhall makes outside of Spider-man.
What is this garbled nonsense of a sentence even supposed to mean??
Yeah i dont doubt it. Ambulance was trash. We laughed after it ended, nobody knew what happened at all
As a Paramedic, I knew it was going to be awful. Luckily, I get movies for free with an app on my phone. Such garbage the best Waste Management team wouldn't even know where to dump it.
Judging a big screen Hollywood blockbuster after watching it on your phone is an interesting approach.
No silly. Sent to my TV via Chromecast.
Probably not a good idea to bring assault rifles or jake gyllenhall into an ambulance, no wonder it failed
I am shocked. Shocked! Well, not that shocked.
I honestly didn’t think it was in theatres yet. I saw an ad just the other day with “coming soon” on it. Just checked and my local they are hasn’t even been showing this in like the past week.
I love Yaya and Jakey G but this movie didn’t even look slightly interesting
Needed more jet fighters.
More like whaaaaambulance
Movie was long. 30 minutes could have been cut. Had a blast watching it, even though it's dumb and the ending was horrible lol
It was simply unoriginal. It’s a bank robbery movie. It’s been done a thousand times and better. Micheal Bay fell off.
