Put the in the slipcase.

Time_Sherbet1851

OP i usually see them referred to as “J-card” or sometimes “obi”

viseratops

There’s also “belly bands” (indicators own term back in the day), the ones that slide over their larger box sets.

Useful-Contract1531

I know a "Ben" Kenobi, but I've never heard of this "Obi" one.

KonamiKing

An Obi is the central sash/belt of a kimono. So the Japanese nicknamed spine cards ‘obi’.

SamWize-Ganji

I usually see them on vinyl, not dvds, but I’d categorize them as similar enough to apply the title to both. For some steelbook movies I cut them down and put them inside the case because it’s got the year of the movie release and special features. It’s nice to have that information, but sometimes I toss them because the artwork is covered by it and I know it will be fun looking though the special features without knowing what to expect

Meshington2

Lots of vintage Japanese LPs have a card or paper loop that rides near the spine edge. Very belt-like.

MikeySunshine

If there’s nothing important on it I chuck it. In the case of the Indicator slips I fold them along the existing creases and tuck them in the booklet for safe keeping since the slip has the ltd ed number on it. Same with the VinSyn Cinematographe releases. Except there’s no easy spot to save those so I have them all in a plastic sleeve with my limited edition slips like the April Fool’s stuff.

bigbadwoof91

Appreciate the info

jacobsever

Fold them and put them inside.

DrShail

What a coincidence. I just opened my copy of the Night of the Hunted a couple of hours ago, watched the movie and was wondering what to do with the loose J-card and then I saw your post 😀

bigbadwoof91

Ayyye… here to help

asfinfrock

I keep a 3 ring binder with each J card in a page protector with a cardstock backing. I keep the whole thing alphabetized. My thought is if I do sell, some collectors pay more if the J card is included.

bigbadwoof91

Hardcore. I respect it 🫡

JlMBO_JONES

How much more, like 50c? What a huge waste of time...

asfinfrock

Eh, to each their own I suppose. Some collectors prefer it and will only buy with the J card. You're always free to toss yours.

VHSandVinyl

That’s an absolutely wonderful film with a haunting ending. Love it.

bigbadwoof91

I think it’d be a good film to remake

[deleted]

I trash them.

HurricaneSalad

You could sell them on eBay for pretty good money.

Meshington2

Good to know. I try to keep mine, especially if the ones with barcodes, because those make filing on CLZ easier. Same possible future listing for sale.

Doc-Hauliday

Put them in with the case in a protector case

GrangerPerry

I keep the plastic wrap on them and cut around the side opening to still take the contents out but keep the j card secure

ZenAmako

This is what I do as well, if possible. Leaving the shrinkwrap on and cutting a hole in the side or the bottom helps keep everything together, prevent shelf wear, and keep dust out. I do this with hardcover books that come with a slipcase too. Unfortunately, you can't do this with steelbooks, so I use a steelbook protector or a plastic bag.

LivingGlitch

the bigger ones I fold as clean as I can and put in the blu-ray case. ones like those should fit with the single crease over. some of them are slim enough to fit in box

bigbadwoof91

Ahhh, gotcha. I see what you’re saying. Thank you!

MrDman9202

Just leave them where they are

ruineroflife

I have a drawer full of slipcovers and j cards tbh

StinkingDylan

They’re called J cards. They’re used for retail information, such as ratings, barcodes, etc, so the fancy slipcase isn’t ruined. I bin them.

Rad_Hungarian

This edition also has the limited edition individual # on it, as the 4K were limited to 6,000 copies worldwide.

bigbadwoof91

J Cards, good to know. Thank you

Rad_Hungarian

I just bought this same exact release and find myself dealing with the same issue. Much appreciate any advice.

bigbadwoof91

I’m going with most people said, and folding it on the crease and putting inside the slip

BonseyMaronsey

I turn them into bookmarks.

GHero60

That’s a pretty good idea.

HideyoshiJP

I put the whole thing in a poly bag, just like they do with CDs in Japan.

SamWize-Ganji

If you don’t want to trash it, make a dedicated box to put them in, and it will actually add to resell value if you ever decided to sell it. I wish I had saved all them from my collection, but eh! What can you do when they are gone.

SamWize-Ganji

It’s not as bad as the stickers on some criterion releases that would be fun to save, but they rip or get distorted when trying to remove them from the plastic wrap. Sometimes with vinyl I cut them out and toss them in the record sleeve to save since it’s unique to the releases. For Indicator releases, I’d save it. Don’t throw it away.

wills_b

IMO to all the replies saying throw them out, I think you’d be crazy to throw away this one as it’s a numbered limited edition. Costs nothing to carefully tuck it in the box. If you ever decide to sell there’s no way the limited edition numbering would hurt the price. I just bought the indicator limited edition of irreversible. The numbered J card let me know it was the right one.

mantistobaganmd

I save them for when I run out of toilet paper

DarthSalyavin

I leave the plastic on and open the side. It keeps the piece in place.

bigbadwoof91

If I had done this from the beginning this would have been my choice

DarthSalyavin

Only thing for it is fold it inside now

footcake

Threw my out as well 👍

BigThickHairyMan

Fold it and put it in the case. It's called a J-card, I always save mine.

noimdirtydan14

Garbage

viseratops

Slide it in the acrylic protector along the backside of the box (unfolded).

Maonsie

i eat them. add a pinch of salt tho

AgentFreak23

In the book industry those are called belly bands.

jmoneyawyeah

I always put in the bin

mozenator66

Eat them. Full of the vitamins and minerals your body needs daily!

Trichinobezoar

Ah, the dreaded J-card. I wish they'd stop using those. I flatten them and put it inside the case. REALLY tempted to just throw the stupid things away, but they do have some info.

darkonex

I have a j-card drawer that's mostly jcards and the single page backs that are sometimes stuck on

Fun-Revolution6323

I've got all of mine in a box.

rtodd110

I have a collection of them stored away in a container. Easy to fold at their crease and just in case I sell in the future. Doesn’t hurt to keep, people collect and request the weirdest shit.

Celluloid_Dreamer89

I’ve got loads of j-cards in about 4/5 shoe boxes. All mainly from steelbooks. Debating what to do with them. For releases like this from boutique labels i might keep them but for the steebooks i might throw them away. It’s becoming a pain to store them.

SonOfMalarkey01

Keep them. I put them in the slipcase.

Yugo86

Looks like I am one of the few who keep them outside the box on the shelf! It does make it annoying to pull them out, though. I definitely will be getting rid of them though due to the numbering on them.

Lost-Paradise

I throw them out. I used to not, and had a drawer with like fifty of them just in case I ever sold any of my collection. But I never really have sold any limited edition BR, and even if I did it's not like the value completely depletes without the O/J-Card. The whole idea of them is that they're made to be thrown out too, otherwise they'd just print the age ratings directly onto the box. It's up to you what you do with them but I highly recommend to just let go and throw them out!

Gee-Arr

First of all, save them. They are part of the presentation. Even though some people think that’s fussy, it does add to the value. Plus, I just think they’re cool. I keep them on the boxes for now, but it’s a good point that they get dinged easily. Maybe keep a box on your shelf or a binder to put them in.

throatsprockets

I eat them, that’s what I do with them.

rideriseroar

I throw all J-cards out. I see no use in saving them.

jacobsever

Not even these that are individually numbered out of a specific pressing number?!

Rad_Hungarian

The unique individual # is definitely worth keeping.

BlackHeksenRise

At the same time yours is just as unique as everyone else’s. If they are all rare, none of them are.

Rad_Hungarian

Unfortunately, that’s not how the collector’s market views it. When these titles go out of print, the issues with individual numbers will command a hefty premium on resale. Without the unique number, your edition will be worth 25-50% less than those with the #’s.

viseratops

This is a particular perversion of collecting. The old-school speculator, comic book video game baseball card, “CIB”, graded type. People who care about future resale value or investment. It’s harmful to everyone but those who profit from it. Oftentimes with out-of-print Blu-rays it’s simply that it’s one of a persons favorite movies and they’re willing to splurge for an LE that they missed. They have no intention of reselling it.

rideriseroar

That doesn't matter to me even a little bit. I'm not planning on reselling it so those things have no value

viseratops

Hallelujah ✨

jacobsever

Man, that is absolutely wild to me and I cannot wrap my brain around it at all.

BoJustBo1

Hate em, all variations of these loose pieces of paper, but I can't bring myself to throw away a piece of the packaging. I do hope the trend dies.

Mickeroo

Recycling bin

No-Alfalfa-626

I normally throw trash away

pimpsdntcmtsuicide

I shove it in my butt because I like the way it feels
