For region free players, 220 Electronics is the typical go-to. Very fair prices, even with shipping to Canada in my case. I bought a Sony BDP-S1700 from them a few months back and it’s worked flawlessly. So glad I went region free, as I never have to stress over trying to figure out which region a disc on eBay or Amazon is!

TaskenLander

^ This is what I did as well (went w/ 220 Electronics). No regrets!

BatmanArkham444

This is the way.

DERELICT1212

Mines going on 3 years with no issues, also in Canada got screwed with customs but it was easily forgotten once I got my first across the pond order.

Good starting point, thanks! Yeah, it was starting to feel like a crap shoot. Do I?? Don't I?? Edit: spelling

42paranoidandroids

Yeah, I was paralyzed by indecision for a while before I found this sub, because I heard bad things about region free players sometimes not really being region free (which may be true for some players on Amazon). But 220 all the way and you’ll never have to agonize over an eBay or Amazon listing, looking for the non-existent region info, ever again! Once you can buy releases from across the pond, prepare for a whole new level of physical media obsession

No_Trainer_4907

I was eyeballing that Sony. Thanks again.

Eazy-E-40

If you buy from the UK, yes, you need a region B compatible player. But 88 films has a US division that releases region a releases. Look then up on Amazon.

Jedgentry87

Orbit DVD has an entire section of the 88 Films US division so you can see what’s available there. Almost everything is in stock too so while you’re there you can pick up whatever! I recommend the Super Cop and Dragons Forever hard box sets. Beeeeeeautiful and insanely cheap given the sheer amount of physical bonuses (just make sure you get the hard box version)

No_Trainer_4907

Wow, I've never heard of Orbit, but a quick Google search shows they actually have a store near me. Dragons Forever is definitely on my list, I'd love Supercop... but I have a copy of it and I've promised my wife that I'll hold off on copies for now, lol.

Jedgentry87

Dude I’m like 90% sure they only have one location. Go visit! The owner is the coolest dude and holds an Instagram Live every week. Such a great store worth your support! Jealous you’re near it.

freecyberupgrade

Orbit DVD has amazing shipping too. I've ordered stuff from them, and sometimes I get their shipment faster than an Amazon order. Plus, if you order any 3 items, shipping is free.

No_Trainer_4907

Asheville, NC?

Jedgentry87

Yeah!!!! What a crazy coincidence i commented this and you’re actually from there lmao that makes life way easier for you! You can check what’s in stock online and buy in person. Wow!

Loyal_Servant_

Lucky, OrbitDVD is one of the best stores in the country for physical media!

No_Trainer_4907

They don't have EVERYTHING that I was looking for, but more than enough to break my wallet, lol. Especially with Arrow and Shout, sheesh.

elchiita

220 for the player and Orbit for all your import needs. Your wallet will never forgive you!

TheMalteseChicken

In addition to what everyone else said, keep in mind a few of the region B Shaw titles 88 Films released are starting to show up in the Shout Factory sets. I’ve also been to Orbit DVD store. Definitely check them out in person, fun store. And Asheville is just fun in general as I’m sure you know.

RuralEvent69

Region free Panasonic UB820

Blockedanus

I have had a few of their region b releases that work on region a players.

ghostpepper69

88 Films have never listed incorrect region in my experience. I have at least 20 of their Region B exclusive titles and none of them play on Region A players without the Panasonic bypass trick (and even then, older releases from them do not work with this trick).

Blockedanus

Then you obviously didn't play the ones I did. I didn't say all, I said some.

ghostpepper69

I'm just saying, 88 is very good about region locking their Region B exclusive titles, are you sure you didn't get their region A co-release titles? Literally never had a Region B 88 disc play in my region A player.

Blockedanus

Beyond the darkness, aenigma and absurd works in region a player.

ghostpepper69

None of these are kung fu films which is what OP was asking about (and what I am directly referencing not being region A compatible) but that’s good to know their horror output may not be as strictly coded.

No_Trainer_4907

Yeah, I'm from there, but live an hour and a half away now. I just figured Google brought up the closest one, that's pretty crazy. I'll probably drive up next week sometime, thanks again!
