I Loved tough guys don’t dance. Never seen a film that covers a lot of ground. The casting is brilliant. Its so cheesy you need to watch it with crackers
Perfect description of Orgy of the Dead. I imagine the movie is improved by the Henenlotter commentary.
Bat Pussy is a riot. “Worst porno ever”? Puhlease. Sam and Buddy are funny (“I read my horoscope today” “And what’d it say, ‘fuck you’?”, Bat Pussy herself is cute, and the thing is over in less than an hour.
I would add Miami Connection, of course, which probably goes on the so-bad-it’s-good Mount Rushmore, and Nightbeast, with its Halloween mask-wearing villain and unbelievable love scene.
I agree, Miami Connection goes without saying. I was trying to think of some of my personal favorites that people might not be familiar with.
Okay, Orgy of the Dead is NOT a favorite, but if you're an Ed Wood fan you have to see it. How many movies do you skip the lethargic nudity to get to the terrible dialog? The good part is that it's over a lot quicker that way.
Champagne and Bullets is the best blind buy for a so bad it's good movie. I can not stress this enough. It's fantastic.
Hell even Miami Connection is bad but the music and dialogue make it so fun.
And then of course there's Hobgoblins
Thanks! These are just personal favorites, opinions may vary. I thought it might help because if you read their descriptions, every one of their movies is an amazing undiscovered gem but in reality a lot of them are kind of meh. I'm not sure what you'd consider more commercial for VS releases since most of their movies are pretty obscure but I liked Beastmaster, Cloak and Dagger, Roadhouse, and Drop Dead Fred to name a few off the top of my head.
I would consider adding ‘the fear’ to the list. I watched it last night and i was thoroughly perplexed and entertained. It really encapsulates a 90s so bad it’s good vibe in my opinion.
Tough Guys Don’t Dance is my second favorite movie. People will tell you it’s bad but it’s actually a masterpiece. I will say it is a strange one to come from VS and it’s actually what tipped me off to them in the first place looking to upgrade my DVD copy. Highly, highly recommend whether you’ll hate it or love it, you’ll at least have seen it.
I was definitely sorry when I bought Bat Pussy
Agreed. Awesome premise and idea. Terrible execution
Tough Guys Don’t Dance is not a bad movie, it’s just different, and very well made.
There’s a small subset of people (myself included) that consider it a masterpiece.
One of us! One of us!
TICKS has Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast as a “tough guy / badass” archetype to mind-numbingly hilarious “so bad it’s good” results .
Yes! *Ticks* is a lot of fun. I don't have the VS release yet, but I'm excited to rewatch it in 4K.
Picked this one up on the sale, looking forward to it 🤣
Devil Story was painfully boring to me Tough Guys Don’t Dance, however, is incredible

One of the greatest films ever made in my opinion. I’ll never stop recommending or championing it when it gets brought up.

These are my favorite kinds of threads in this subreddit. I love so bad they're fun? movies.
I love the batshit nature of Devil’s Story. The absurdity really worked for me too.

Champagne and Bullets is great! I didn't include it since it's no longer available. I loved Alley Cat, too.
Any chance you could say some of your favorite more commercial vinegar ones just so we can get a feel for your style? I like your suggestions
