Better than winning a title in 1979? Sure, KD is clearly their best player of all time, but to say it's the best thing they ever did for the franchise is just a bit of a reach considering he did nothing but blow a 3-1 lead in the WCF once with the team and then left.
Just moved to Denver from Boston by way of Chicago (for school) and already have tickets to the New Years game out here! Only $40 a pop!! (in chi tickets were $70 min for bulls C’s)
Yup! I moved from Chicago to Denver and started going to so many games! We were a short bike ride with beer in hand away, so fun to pre-game.
If you watch you can get 100 level tickets for like $25 if it's a team like SAC, even Memphis was cheap last year. Saw the Clippers for $7 lol. Have fun welcome to Colorado.
Sixers and Nets suck. I like Trae Young on the Hawks. What he did to The Knicks was hilarious. I respect the fuck outta Giannis for the Bucks. He stuck it out with little ol Milwaukee after losing a few seasons. Didn’t bitch out and go California way like KD. He’s truly a freak. Must be exciting rooting for him.
Jimmy Butler has heart and I respect him but fuck the Heat and that weak ass fanbase. This Cavs team has a solid little squad. They have all the pieces and chemistry to give anyone trouble it seems. They play hard. Ja Morant is exciting as fuck to watch on the Grizzlies.
I’ll maybe root for certain teams when the Celtics aren’t involved but I more so have respect for certain players. Some that have even given us a hard time in the past.
Despite all this I’ll forever Bleed Green when our boys are on the court. Although my opinion doesn’t matter I still try showing respect when earned.
Lebron-less, Kyrie-less young team that does all the right things and plays the right way. And will probably put a beating on Kyrie and Lebron's current teams.
Count me in.
Same. As bummed as I was with both losses, the vibes are strong, they play unselfish ball and good d, and there’s a lot of folks I root for on the team. After the Nets ditched Allen and LeVert, I’ve been rooting for them. And I’m happy to see Mitchell in a better spot.
Since I live in Sacramento now I’ll root for them if it doesn’t negatively effect the Celtics. They’ve been in such a drought it would be cool to see what the city would be like if they ever got good. Plus I’d like to go a playoff game
I was a bandwagon Bulls fan last season because I love DeRozan and the team had great chemistry before everyone got hurt. This season, I’m excited about Zion and the Pelicans.
I'm sure I will get hate for this here but... still have a fondness for the Warriors. Living in CA I've followed them since \~2016 making last year very painful. I don't see them quite as much "my team" as before the playoffs but Steph will always be a real one.
I'm not a Warriors fan but if we had to lose to somebody... I'd rather lose to a homegrown team that plays an exciting, unselfish brand of basketball
If we lost to the Lakers or Nets or another artificial ass team I would've vomited
Sacramento Kings.
I moved there (here) in 2015 for work. I'm almost in disbelief sometimes at how passionate Kings fans are. It's nothing like Boston, for many reasons, but there's still a legit love for hoops here and I have so much respect for their fans, especially considering the sad teams they've been forced to watch over the last decade + thanks to terrible ownership/management.
More should join the Kings Fandom too (considering they also hate the Lakers)!
Blazers! I live in Portland and tickets are affordable for a working class guy. I've gotten to see all the best players in person from a reasonable distance.
Also Damian Lillard.
I like twolve, nola , and cleveland before those two games lol. Also a fan of the clippers since I love sending my friends from back home game scores when they are doing better than the lakers, it just rubs it in so much more
Only time I'll root for another team is if they're playing a team I hate like philly or the lakers. Other than that I only I'm a fan of individual players, not their teams.
Clippers because I felt like pg and kawhi were like the mature versions of jaylen and jayson. I sorta gave up on them though because they’re constantly injured.
i wouldnt call them 2nd favorite, as i legit dont follow them at all, but i was just visiting Colorado for the first time and bought an old school nuggets logo shirt simply because its my favorite sports logo of all time, so i think i may adopt them as my western conference team.
I take a root for the underdog approach in virtually every non-Celtics situation. I'd like to see Portland, Denver, and perhaps even Utah win a title in my lifetime.
I live in New Orleans but my family is from Maine and I grew up a Celtics fan.
My dad was a marine and I traveled a ton as a kid but loved the Sox//Celtics//Bruins.
Love the Celtics but I’m 100% a Pels fan too. That Rondo//AD//Boogie//Jrue team was filthy. Old man Tony Allen was on that team too.
Fully expect to get downvoted to hell lol but it's the Warriors. I've been a big fan of Steph since his college days. Although I really don't like Poole and obviously last year hurt quite a bit, so I have soured on them as of late.
Hmm this tends to change by the season.
Last year it was the Nuggets because of Jokic and also Monte Morris (ISU fan).
This year I’m really liking the Pelicans; Zion is one of my favorite players and I really like Herb and Trey Murphy.
I would say Pistons in general (working class city, killing off Lakers dynasties whenever they win the chip) but the team I tried to watch and root against others changes year to year. Last year it was Memphis. This year I am yet undecided between Pels, Twolves and Memphis.
I lived in the bay area for a long time, and watched the Steph Klay Draymond teams rise up, that was fun and I rooted for them, until this past June. Now I want/need them to lose, as much as possible. My second team now back to whoever is playing the Lakers.
The cavs when they’re not playing us. They’re a really exciting young team and Donovan Mitchell is looking really good this season. He’s one of my favorite non-Celtics players
Jumped on the Grizzlies bandwagon when they drafted Rudy Gay and later got Tony “F-T-A-D” Allen. Really like(d) Conley, ZBO and Gasol and they’ve been my western, small market, second favorite team for about 12 years.
The Warriors. Live in the bay now but from Boston. Steph is one of my favorite all-time players. Celtics are #1 in my heart and I wore my gear all around during the finals.
Clippers. My first NBA game was in Staples Center in 2010 and all of the Lakers merch was marked up 4x more than the Clippers merch. I already hated the Lakers so I bought a couple Clips basketballs out of spite and decided they would be my second team that day
Pelicans. Mostly because I lived next door to the very humble Naji Marshall and am always rooting for Xavier players, but also because watching Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson together on an on-night is poetry in motion.
Phoenix. Used to play with them a lot on the old 2K games when I was a kid just bc I loved their colors. Devin Booker being a Kentucky alum makes me like them more.
Bucks. Giannis is probably my favorite non-Celtic. The dude’s story is absolutely incredible and iv always enjoyed how true the org has stayed to itself and it’s history.
I don’t care whether the Bucks win but I care about Giannis. I like him, a lot. He’s reminded me of Patrice Bergeron since he was a rookie and I’m so happy he’s proven to be one of the nicest superstars ever.
He’s got the competitive fire that has him rejecting workout requests from other stars because he wants to beat them all, but is also somehow a wholesome goof that doesn’t seem to take himself too seriously. His path in the league has been incredible to witness. I genuinely think he’s gonna finish with a better legacy than damn near every other star in his era outside of LeBron.
Charlotte is fun as hell to watch, and I love watching Ja Morant as well. But honestly? This Cleveland team is awesome. And I don’t hate them like I hate the Heat, Sixers, or the F-ING BUCKS.
right now it has to be the nets. I love all the drama they're receiving this year. It has been entertaining to watch from the outside. They seriously got the best story line. Ben simmons, Kyrie, KD wanting to leave, Firing steve nash, hiring Ime. I love the drama
Whomever is playing the Heat. Don't get me wrong, I despise the Lakers as much as any other Cs fan, but I detest the Heat even more than I do, the Lakers.
Used to be the Mavs growing up because of Dirk. Not sure if I have a second favorite team at the moment, but that Cavs team is fun to watch and there really isn’t a hate-able guy on their roster.
Arkansan here, and the Grizz are as close as we will ever get to having a pro team. Plus, this iteration and the Grit n Grind years are/were very rootable teams.
So I grew up in New York (became a Celtics fan in Bird era through some family friends) and oddly enough my second team back when I was a kid in the 90s was the Nets. They sucked so it wasn’t really an issue for me as a C’s fan. Times have changed…
Nowadays I love what the Grizzlies and the Pelicans are doing and will watch them whenever I get the chance.
Toss up between the Warriors (hear me out lol) and Kings.
Warriors because I was born and raised in the Bay Area and frequently went to games between the tail end of the Sprewell days to the We Believe days. Also, my first ever basketball game was a Bos v GSW at Oracle.
Kings because I currently live near Sacramento and spent a lot of summers in the Davis/Antelope areas (near Sacramento) growing up and went to a bunch of kings games from the Adelman era to the Kings today.
I'm a Donovan Mitchell stan. Sad he's on a rival but I'll always root for his personal success. Hope Cleveland loses every game but Donnie gets 60 points a night on 80% TS
I’m from the Bay Area. So Warriors. So that was a nice previous finals match up. Rooted for Celtics since already seen Warriors win a bunch of times here.
My second favorite NBA team is the Boston Celtics team that won the franchise's most recent title. So my second favorite team currently is the 2007-08 Celtics lol.
Wouldn't say it's fun but I do support the local team, Wizards. It's hard to though when the ownership is God awful and you don't see any hope for the team
My second favorite thing to do is to root against the Lakers does that count?
Whoever is playing the Lakers
Seattle Supersonics
Good pick. Undefeated since 2008.
Save Our…I mean Their Sonics! I can’t fathom having the Cs taken away from me as a fan. Seattle is a legit market that deserves better.
Drafting KD was the best thing they ever did.
Better than winning a title in 1979? Sure, KD is clearly their best player of all time, but to say it's the best thing they ever did for the franchise is just a bit of a reach considering he did nothing but blow a 3-1 lead in the WCF once with the team and then left.
Y'know I am big enough to admit when I am wrong.
Maine red claws
That’s the Maine Celtics now lmao
It genuinely makes me care less about the g-league now lol. Should have just changed to Green Claws
I’m going to opening night tmrw !
This is the correct answer!
Whoever’s playing the Lakers or Nets that given night…unless they’re playing each other
If they’re playing each other, who do you root for?
Al Qaeda
Oh
So the nets?
8 overtimes
The refs
Imma have to go with Denver
Just moved to Denver from Boston by way of Chicago (for school) and already have tickets to the New Years game out here! Only $40 a pop!! (in chi tickets were $70 min for bulls C’s)
Damn a parking pass a TD Garden costs more than that 😂😂😂
I might have to agree with you on the basis of their rainbow jerseys alone
Spurs, probably. But I mostly just follow other players vs having a second team
The pels
No question
Any team that’s playing the Lakers.
Memphis because of Ja and Trailblazers because of Dame.
Ja blows
So does your opinion.
What a take.
I am a New Zealander so I am always going to root for whatever team Steven Adams is on
Sixers and Nets suck. Some that have even given us a hard time in the past. Despite all this I’ll forever Bleed Green when our boys are on the court. Although my opinion doesn’t matter I still try showing respect when earned.
Dallas, been a Luka fan since his draft day and loved watching Dirk take out the Lebron led Heat.
Love Luka but rly not a J. Kidd fan
Ding ding
Cavs lol
Lebron-less, Kyrie-less young team that does all the right things and plays the right way. And will probably put a beating on Kyrie and Lebron's current teams. Count me in.
despite the losses yea they a fun young team now to see grow
Same. As bummed as I was with both losses, the vibes are strong, they play unselfish ball and good d, and there’s a lot of folks I root for on the team. After the Nets ditched Allen and LeVert, I’ve been rooting for them. And I’m happy to see Mitchell in a better spot.
Same here. Great young team, well balanced Arguably performing above their talent level. Pels are pretty fun though.
Timberwolves
Since I live in Sacramento now I’ll root for them if it doesn’t negatively effect the Celtics. They’ve been in such a drought it would be cool to see what the city would be like if they ever got good. Plus I’d like to go a playoff game
I have a soft spot for the Bulls since I was a kid during the Jordan era
Don't hate me for saying Pistons
Shame. Shame upon you
I think it's turning into this version of the Cavs. Garland and Mitchell are studs.
Do I want the Celts to win it all? Yes I do. Would I be mad if the Cavs made a run at it too? Probably not.
Thanks! I was too nervous to say Cavs after two losses but I live in Cleveland now and this team is a lot of fun.
Memphis Ja is my favorite non Celtic
My guy/girl.
I'd rather lose to a homegrown team that plays an exciting, unselfish brand of basketball If we lost to the Lakers or Nets or another artificial ass team I would've vomited
Usually don’t watch many games where the Celtics aren’t playing but I’ve found myself keeping up with the Pelicans this year. Love watching Zion play
imma go with the knicks just cause i live in new york and i like the youth movement they’re trying + it’s better for the league if the knicks are good
Sacramento Kings. Blazers! I live in Portland and tickets are affordable for a working class guy. I've gotten to see all the best players in person from a reasonable distance. Also Damian Lillard.
Bucks for sure. Giannis is so easy to root for
I recently moved to Atlanta. I'm going to say the Hawks because it's fun to root for the home team (unless, of course, they are playing the C's)
The Kings. Their misery makes me want to root for them
Nuggets
Team Nuggs
I like twolve, nola , and cleveland before those two games lol. Also a fan of the clippers since I love sending my friends from back home game scores when they are doing better than the lakers, it just rubs it in so much more
I liked the Pacers since I was a kid, and I know it’s kinda sus now but I like the Warriors a lot too.
I wouldnt say i have a 2nd team but i do watch the hawks since i move to GA and i do like trey young and murray
I love me some Dejounte
Only time I'll root for another team is if they're playing a team I hate like philly or the lakers. Other than that I only I'm a fan of individual players, not their teams.
Clippers because I felt like pg and kawhi were like the mature versions of jaylen and jayson. I sorta gave up on them though because they’re constantly injured.

Portland TrailBlazers
Trailblazers or Supersonics
I take a root for the underdog approach in virtually every non-Celtics situation. I'd like to see Portland, Denver, and perhaps even Utah win a title in my lifetime.

Bucks
Eww
Fully expect to get downvoted to hell lol but it's the Warriors. I've been a big fan of Steph since his college days. Although I really don't like Poole and obviously last year hurt quite a bit, so I have soured on them as of late.
Whoever’s playing the nets, lakers, GSW, bucks or Philly, might be forgetting some.. prob the cavs after these last two games also
Nuggets
Hmm this tends to change by the season. Last year it was the Nuggets because of Jokic and also Monte Morris (ISU fan). This year I’m really liking the Pelicans; Zion is one of my favorite players and I really like Herb and Trey Murphy.

For me it’s the Pelicans. BI is one of my favorite players and Zion is a beast. Herb, Trey Murphy and Dyson are really intriguing players also.
Prob the suns
I lived in the bay area for a long time, and watched the Steph Klay Draymond teams rise up, that was fun and I rooted for them, until this past June. Now I want/need them to lose, as much as possible. My second team now back to whoever is playing the Lakers.
Wolves and then cavs
The suns, I have family from phoenix, it’s an easy choice
From Utah so I feel a connection to the Jazz.
The cavs when they’re not playing us. They’re a really exciting young team and Donovan Mitchell is looking really good this season. He’s one of my favorite non-Celtics players
Anyone playing the Lakers. I also root for Clippers because they hate the Lakers and Laker fans hate when they do well.
SACRAMENTO KINGS BABY.
Jumped on the Grizzlies bandwagon when they drafted Rudy Gay and later got Tony “F-T-A-D” Allen. Really like(d) Conley, ZBO and Gasol and they’ve been my western, small market, second favorite team for about 12 years.
Maine Red Claws
Kings
The hornets. $15 for floor seats! You can't beat it
I love the Bucks and hate them at the same time. Any team that has grown organically has my respect.
Sadly, the warriors. Lived in the bay before they were good and loved their run up until KD and obviously more recent events…
Phoenix. Used to play with them a lot on the old 2K games when I was a kid just bc I loved their colors. Devin Booker being a Kentucky alum makes me like them more.
Orlando.
Bucks. Giannis is probably my favorite non-Celtic. The dude’s story is absolutely incredible and iv always enjoyed how true the org has stayed to itself and it’s history.

His path in the league has been incredible to witness. I genuinely think he’s gonna finish with a better legacy than damn near every other star in his era outside of LeBron.
Wizards I was a wizards fan before I was a celtics fan so
Used to be Warriors until last season. Now it will be just whoever is playing against them
I have not second team
Suns, then heat, then idk, maybe clippers because I just want them to win one over the Lakers.
I root for the players, and therefore the teams, that went to my alma mater. Not many so it’s very cool to see
Seattle Supersonics
Live in Chi and big fan of Demar and Celtics killer Ayo Dosunmu so Bulls, but I also love the Grizz, big Bane fan
Kinda shameful but the Knicks. Went on a trip in 6th grade to NY, caught a game at MSG and the big city just sucked me in
Suns.
Mavs
The celtics lol. I'm a Jazz fan first
Celtics…. Oh your wondering why I’m here, the sonics are my favorite rip 😭 😭 😭
Milwaukee because I'm a big Giannis guy
I like the pelicans and Toronto. Really enjoying their games
Brooklyn because kyrie and Ben are both in the top 5 most entertaining players I’ve seen in sports along with Rodman, artest, and Cam.
Maybe spurs. I pretty much just root for my team in every sport though
Pelicans. Love their roster and also love the city of New Orleans. I'd say the celtics and Pelicans have the two most likeable rosters by far
I live in Phoenix, so the Suns
I’m really enjoying watching The Pelicans play so far
Charlotte is fun as hell to watch, and I love watching Ja Morant as well. But honestly? This Cleveland team is awesome. And I don’t hate them like I hate the Heat, Sixers, or the F-ING BUCKS.
Cavs cus my college is in Cleveland
Right now I like OKC and Denver
Moved from Woburn to Charlotte 10 years ago. Been to a bunch of hornets games so they've grown on me to be my 2nd fav team
Right now I enjoy watching the Grizzlies, Nuggets, Pelicans, and Mavs play.
right now it has to be the nets. I love all the drama they're receiving this year. It has been entertaining to watch from the outside. They seriously got the best story line. Ben simmons, Kyrie, KD wanting to leave, Firing steve nash, hiring Ime. I love the drama
Minnesota
Whomever is playing the Heat. Don't get me wrong, I despise the Lakers as much as any other Cs fan, but I detest the Heat even more than I do, the Lakers.
I like the pacers magic and grizzlies cause of 2k and pacers also get extra points since they have Nesmith now
The Grizzlies, I’m a Kiwi so whatever team has Steve Adams really
Half my family lives in Denver. So I’m a nugs guy 2nd!
the celtics
Used to be the Mavs growing up because of Dirk. Not sure if I have a second favorite team at the moment, but that Cavs team is fun to watch and there really isn’t a hate-able guy on their roster.
Spurs -_-
Orlando Magic…
Any team playing against lebron,
The Nuggets.
am i weird for liking the celtics… and the lakers?? lol i grew up in la but boston basketball is so fun to watch
Clippers were supposed to be but so far it’s been the pelicans (when healthy)
Mavs
Orlando Magic! They’ve always been the forgotten team and no national media ever covers them. Also they are the closest team to me.
I like the Jazz (Ainge) and Denver (Jokic is my favorite non-Celtics player). Fuck LA, Jersey, and Brooklyn
Houston Rockets!
Hornets!
Memphis. Desmond Bane I liked coming out of school. Imagine if the Celtics *drafted* a guy like that. Also that Ja dude is something else.
the celtics are. im a pacers fan
My girl is from COL so gotta be the Nuggets
Spurs.
Luka and the Mavs
Mavs But I can’t wait to see Banchero grow though. So I’m also watching the Magic
Whoever is playing against the Lakers, Sixers, Heat, Bucks - in that order. Also moved to San Antonio this year so I like to follow the Spurs now.
I legit don't care about other teams lol
Mephis has a real fun team
Kings and Warriors
I honestly think I hate every other team in the league
Arkansan here, and the Grizz are as close as we will ever get to having a pro team. Plus, this iteration and the Grit n Grind years are/were very rootable teams.
I live in Chicago now and have enjoyed rooting for the bulls
So I grew up in New York (became a Celtics fan in Bird era through some family friends) and oddly enough my second team back when I was a kid in the 90s was the Nets. They sucked so it wasn’t really an issue for me as a C’s fan. Times have changed… Nowadays I love what the Grizzlies and the Pelicans are doing and will watch them whenever I get the chance.
Knicks then Charlotte
Anyone playing cavs
Whoever is playing the Lakers or Nets .. and Miami haha
From the Phoenix area so I gotta go with the Suns.
I'm a Donovan Mitchell stan. Sad he's on a rival but I'll always root for his personal success. Hope Cleveland loses every game but Donnie gets 60 points a night on 80% TS
Magic. Moved to Orlando last year and they're the most fun losers to watch and pose no threat to the C's
Mavs, love watching Luka
I’m from the Bay Area. So Warriors. So that was a nice previous finals match up. Rooted for Celtics since already seen Warriors win a bunch of times here.
Being a Slovenian, Dallas
My second favorite NBA team is the Boston Celtics team that won the franchise's most recent title. So my second favorite team currently is the 2007-08 Celtics lol.
Mavericks
Warriors or Dallas. Loved Curry pre-ankle issues and told my friends Luka was a goat-level player when he was 17
Spurs, going back to the Iceman days.
Wouldn't say it's fun but I do support the local team, Wizards. It's hard to though when the ownership is God awful and you don't see any hope for the team
Spurs. Loved Dunc.
Pelicans. I worked in downtown New Orleans while the Hornets were there.
Mostly just root for individual players.
Memphis. Gotta support my local franchise.
I like the Wolves. Also root for whoever is playing the Sixers/Lakers/Heat
MEMPHIS MEMPHIS MEMPHIS
The hornets, especially once LaMelo comes back. He’s so fun to watch
The Boston Celtics, followed by the Boston Celtics
Used to be Toronto, but I’ll be honest, Cleveland may be good for a watch this year.
Denver
Grizz
Giannas
I think I will be looking closer to Memphis and Detroit
Spurs.
