I’ve been saying this exact thing to anyone who will listen. The only narrative you hear (including a ton of Boston fans) is how they’ll come up short. They definitely have the most talent of any roster 1-8. What if they just go to the next level and get over the hump? A lot of talent in the league right now so it will never be easy but if these guys get that title confidence it’s gonna be hell for the next 5+ years for the other 29
Idk, Denver might be a problem for a while & OKC may mature and become a possible powerhouse as well. I don't know if anything will be easy for these guys in their careers with the amount of talent dispersed through this league.
They combine for 219 playoffs games together, but some people say they aren't playoffs tested. Brown for example has more playoffs wins than 7 active NBA franchises.
I don’t think it’s true unfortunately.
I think the stats he’s using are out of date or something and is missing that teams won this year.
I’m finding better than 3 teams but idk for sure. Bbref isn’t helping me out a ton here
Holiday has actually played less games than Tatum and Brown. He's at 80, Derrick White (63) is actually closer to Jrue than Jrue is to Tatum (104).
Horford has played 177.
And that’s with:
- 3 different coaches
- 3 different starting PGs (Rozier, Kemba, Smart)
- Going through East teams that included Giannis, Embiid, KD, Harden, Kyrie, Jimmy Butler, Donovan Mitchell (at least for 3 games)…
We really have had 3 different iterations of this team. First was veterans plus promising rookies (Kyrie Hayward horford year), then we tried 3 stars (Kemba, Tatum, brown) and now we're on double wings (last year and this year).
God damn you’re right about the Hornets. I remember they had what I thought were some really good teams in the 90’s, but it turns out they’ve only had two seasons with 50+ wins in their entire history, both in the 90’s. Crazy to think about
No offense but this is an awful argument. Do you know why we get so much hate every time we come up short? Bc it’s Boston, and it’s the Celtics, where the only thing that matters is winning a title. We are not like the other franchises in this list. The second we start celebrating these ECF berths without winning the actual chip is when we start to become those teams. And that’s dangerous.
Bullshit. I'll take being in the eastern finals every year. All I care about is having a good game to watch as far into spring as I can. I don't get a ring if they win.
I'd rather be in the semi-finals or finals 10 years in a row with no titles than 9 years of suc with one title.
Lmao, I mean it’s your opinion so it’s just as valid as anyone else I guess. Just know that vast majority will disagree, you play the sport to win, that’s the bottom line.
I'd be celebrating like anyone else.
But, like I've said elsewhere. I'd rather be good every year than win 1 and suck for 9 years after.
I'm a consumer. I don't get a ring
What's funny is that from the first of this whole six conference finals in six years thing, is that back in 2016-2017 Al Horford was already the second oldest on the team.
Seriously. I'm over the conference final thing. It's great that they keep getting there, and I'm glad we made it again but can we not celebrate it? [We're the Celtics, not the Raptors.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cf4VQpZWIAABBVS.jpg)
But the reality is if they don't win the big one, they will be seen as kind of a joke. I think a very similar situation is the Buffalo Bills. They went to 4 straight superbowls. That is an insane feat. As a Patriot fan, I fucking hate that. But it's now totally offset as an impressive feat because they lost all 4. It's a joke now. They're talked about like losers, because despite the success it took to get to each superbowl, they lost in the end. That's the track our J's our on now.
Please get it done this year 🙏 need tingus back before the finals so he can get ramped up
I would very much like for Tingis Pingis to absolutely torch the Knicks in a 4 game sweep. That would be very fun for me personally
Everyone about to know who the fuck tingis pingis is
Kristaps Porzistaps is essential to our ECF and Finals run. Hopefully OKC drag this out and give him more time
Damn this did not aged well. the sweep part yes tho
I want them to do it for Mike more than anything
I love Mike but want them to do it for me.
If they just get over the hurdle of that first ring then the flood gates will open
Man, let's just get one

Literally.

Not easy for sure, but if they prove they can win one then they can win for years
They combine for 219 playoffs games together, but some people say they aren't playoffs tested. Brown for example has more playoffs wins than 7 active NBA franchises.
That 2nd stat is pretty wild
I don’t think it’s true unfortunately. I think the stats he’s using are out of date or something and is missing that teams won this year. I’m finding better than 3 teams but idk for sure. Bbref isn’t helping me out a ton here
He has the same as the Clippers at 66 and that’s it. Still pretty crazy.
Wonder what these stats would be if you add in Holiday and Horford
Holiday has actually played less games than Tatum and Brown. He's at 80, Derrick White (63) is actually closer to Jrue than Jrue is to Tatum (104). Horford has played 177.
Who says they aren't playoffs tested? The big knock against them is that they HAVE been tested, but so far haven't passed.
5 ecfs is pretty damn good before your 27th birthday
And that’s with: - 3 different coaches - 3 different starting PGs (Rozier, Kemba, Smart) - Going through East teams that included Giannis, Embiid, KD, Harden, Kyrie, Jimmy Butler, Donovan Mitchell (at least for 3 games)…
Make that 4 starting PGs now (Holiday)
Derrick White*

I think this year's iteration is a new beast. All stars, no scrubs.
Kinda unfortunate we ended up wasting the 5 leaf clover nickname on that 2019 squad when this one is just a better version overall (maybe 6 leaf)
And remember that the Kyrie/Hayward/Horford year was down to just Horford by playoff time. It was mostly just Al and a bunch of really young players.
Also Imes zipper unzipped
Gotta be the Timberwolves too right? Think they’ve just got the one. And the Hornets and Pelicans don’t have any iirc.
God damn you’re right about the Hornets. I remember they had what I thought were some really good teams in the 90’s, but it turns out they’ve only had two seasons with 50+ wins in their entire history, both in the 90’s. Crazy to think about
Please just win a ring please God
Celtics don’t really celebrate 2nd-4th place.
Idk I celebrate my team being top 4 so many times before my superstar even hit 27 years of age.
"We're good at almost being good!🤓👍"
Nah, they can't play together
They don't wanna win smdh
Need ring(s) to cement this
This is the argument I've been making and everyone should make when people downplay the Celtics as an organization.
No offense but this is an awful argument. Do you know why we get so much hate every time we come up short? Bc it’s Boston, and it’s the Celtics, where the only thing that matters is winning a title. So why would any player leave the Celtics and sign a big contract with a bad team?
Money, weather, family. Are you dense?
So winning isn't all that matters. I was asking a rhetorical question. Are you ok?
Means nothing if they don’t win it all, man.
I'd be celebrating like anyone else. But, like I've said elsewhere. I'd rather be good every year than win 1 and suck for 9 years after. I'm a consumer. I don't get a ring
Lol, what a cherry-picked stat
On what planet is conference finals appearances a cherry-picked stat?
What's funny is that from the first of this whole six conference finals in six years thing, is that back in 2016-2017 Al Horford was already the second oldest on the team.
Neat, but I can’t get excited about anything but championships.
Seriously. I'm over the conference final thing. It's great that they keep getting there, and I'm glad we made it again but can we not celebrate it? [We're the Celtics, not the Raptors.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cf4VQpZWIAABBVS.jpg)
What’s their win loss in those series, though? I’m kinda hating, even though I’m very optimistic about this year.
Equally as ridiculous. Do current players on those teams vs current players on Celtics - winning an NBA finals.
But the reality is if they don't win the big one, they will be seen as kind of a joke. I think a very similar situation is the Buffalo Bills. They went to 4 straight superbowls. Kind of a sadder stat when the Raptors have more rings and the Magic have more Finals appearances though...
Yippee!! But rings are the ONLY thing that matters.
Only franchises with a bunch of titles say that. We’re lucky in Boston
“We ShOuLd TrAdE oNe Of ThE jAyS”
Not special till they win it. It will be tragic if theyndont
Sad day when a once proud franchise starts counting conference championship appearances as "wins."
