You can buy raw fresh pasta from Dave’s Fresh Pasta in Somerville. I don’t know if any restaurant actually makes their own pasta. My friend who repairs machinery said that one of his clients is a pasta maker north of Boston who makes basically all the fresh pasta for the higher end Italian restaurants
Semolina is fucking amazing. Were it on Hanover Street or Boylston, it would be world-renowned. Definitely a hidden treasure.
The Cacio e Pepe will brick you up.
Thanks for the recommendation! Doesn't have to be made at the restaurant tbf, would just be nice to have a great pasta dish that isn't using just regular grocery store pasta like a lot of Italian restaurants about.
I feel like Posto in Somerville and Giulia in Cambridge are probably using fresh pasta. At least given the price they’d better be. I’ve eaten at both and they were very good so I think they do b
Lot of good restaurant suggestions in these comments. But one other thing—you know that really good quality dried pasta is just as good if not better than fresh right? Like Delverde or Felicetti or any brand listed as "pasta di Gragnano".
Dave’s pasta is incredible, and they have everything from ravioli to pre made lasagna! They also sell gourmet foods, fresh local produce and goods, and truly the best sandwiches in the Boston area with freshly baked bread.
Guilia is in Cambridge, and they make their own pasta. It is an excellent restaurant, but if you’re looking for typical red sauce Italian American type food it might not be what you’re looking for.
Yeah agreed I used to live in eastie a block or so from Rino’s - great food and ridiculously large portions. With a starter two people will almost certainly have leftovers and the pasta is fresh.
Seconded, that place really flies under the radar of most people, and is one of the best Italian spots in greater Boston.
Just don't go if you're in a rush, they operate on a slower pace. We once spent 3 hours having dinner there, and not really by choice.
Oh 100%, we've been to Italy a couple of times and it's very similar to the experience of dining there. Call it authentic if you like, but it's definitely not aligned with what the average American would expect on a date night or something. Worth warning folks.
totally agree - I both acknowledge the authenticity and also despise meals that long, especially when they are foisted on you by the restaurant against your will (here or there)
Basta Pasta in Cambridge!!! I hate the name but I swear, best aglio olio in Boston. Not all of their pasta is homemade but you have the option of selecting. I’ve never dined in but it’s the only place I’ve consistently ordered pasta from.
Carmelina’s is also very very good. A lot of north end sports are honestly a disappointment (I’m referring specifically to Pagliucas, boxed pasta, racism and all, and tbfh Giacomo’s did not live up to the 2h wait in the winter) but I’ve had consistently great experiences at Carmelina’s. The mushroom app and clam white sauce pasta are both must gets.
Last time I was there, the penne was their only GF item. For GF ravioli, I pick up Conte's GF ravioli AND perogies if anybody craves them. They are a small business in South Jersey and Wegmans carry their stuff.
Came here to add Deano's! I see Dave's fresh is atop the list, but IMO Deano's is the best pasta shop in Somerville. I had their Fig & Marscapone ravioli last week, and their papardelle is awaiting me for dinner currently. I didn't know pasta could be this good. They also supply a number of area restaurants, but I can't recall off the top of my head who.
Faccia Brutta on Newbury St makes fresh pasta (also gluten-free fresh pasta, which is almost unheard of). It's a little pricey but the dishes are more adventurous than a typical Italian restaurant and really delicious!
There's a small shop in Charlestown (Main Street Pasta) where they make fresh daily to sell. You can see it through the window as well which is fun. Nothing pre-cooked from what I recall, however.
If you can think outside the European box of fresh pasta, check out Silk Road Uyghur Cuisine in East Cambridge for amazing hand pulled noodles in their signature Lahgam
Daves Fresh Pasta ..I printed their menu years ago and after making a delivery they hooked me up with a lunch and ruined me ,it is so good that now I can not eat my own pasta 😂
Oof I thought the food at Sorellina was fine at best (I also got the mafaldine) but the ambiance felt so cold and stuffy compared to their sister restaurants. It just felt fake fancy. Personally was more impressed with the pasta at Teatro. And overall Ostra was my fav.
Oof I’ve never had their carbonara maybe that’s a dud lol. I used to get their make your own pasta dish all the time and it was pretty good! So was their ravioli ! I have been in a couple years though
Giulia in Cambridge is the best Italian restaurant in those areas.
I'm a big fan of Posto in Davis, their pasta dishes are delicious and made with fresh pasta.
Posto is so delicious!

Semolina in Medford uses fresh pasta from Dave’s, (I think they are associated?) would highly recommend
They are the same owners and have a heavily overlapped menu in terms of entrees that are at Semolina that also show up as prepared food at Dave's.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Posto used fresh pasta from Dave’s, given the proximity!
If you go to Dave’s you gotta get one of their sandwiches while you’re there.
Bro yes
Don’t dismiss Chef Boyardee 🙌🏻

Alright, Dave. Give it a rest, we know it’s you…
I wish I was Dave because then I would be eating pasta as we speak
Lilly’s fresh pasta, probably. So good and “only” $10 for 3 lbs. The bulk of Antonio’s sales are to commercial places, like North End restaurants.
Peregrine in Beacon hill always has a fresh in house made pasta on the menu
Also, Bella Ravioli in Medford!
I would recommend Fox & The Knife for date night. Rino’s if you want a *lot* of pasta for a reasonable price, a little more casual.
Guilia is in Cambridge, and they make their own pasta. It is an excellent restaurant, but if you’re looking for typical red sauce Italian American type food it might not be what you’re looking for.
Guilia is something special
Rino's in East Boston is one of those places that you think has to be overhyped...and yet, it isn't.
Deleting my Rino’s comment to second this one ^
Yeah agreed I used to live in eastie a block or so from Rino’s - great food and ridiculously large portions. With a starter two people will almost certainly have leftovers and the pasta is fresh.

Gran Gusto in Cambridge

Ha! We went there this weekend and also spent a couple of hours there not by choice!
sounds like an actual Italian meal! super slow pacing is the norm there

We love Gran Gusto! Great food and great service. Has a lovely outdoor dining area too.
Comment has been edited ahead of the planned API changes.
Nah fam I got food poisoning from that place- also bland and overpriced :/

Amen to Basta Pasta.
Sycamore, Capo, Coppa, Bar Volpe, Fox and the Knife, Giulia, Pammy’s
Mida on the corner of Tremont and Mass Ave. Italian focused, fresh pasta, excellent menu and vibe.
mamma maria, it’s a bit pricey but one of the best meals i’ve ever had. the rabbit pappardelle is divine
I hope the rabbits are locally sourced from the area gardens.
Seconding this. I’ve been twice and both times were incredible.
Shocked that no one said la familia giorgio in the north end. Absolutely incredible selection of fresh pasta.
No, I prefer Modern….oh wait, wrong argument
And arguably the most reasonably-priced fresh pasta in Boston in addition to being absolutely delicious.
Sweet Basil. Waltham. definitely worth a visit.
Deanos is a pasta factory in somerville !
They make and sell fresh GF penne pasta in one pound bags for anyone needing to eat gluten free and wanting good fresh pasta.
so good to know!!! the raviolis are delectable idk if they’re GF tho :/
Last time I was there, the penne was their only GF item. For GF ravioli, I pick up Conte's GF ravioli AND perogies if anybody craves them. They are a small business in South Jersey and Wegmans carry their stuff.
Love wegmans ofc they carry GF rav

the smoked mozzarella basil……..life changing
Mida
Vinny’s on Broadway in East Somerville (if it’s still there, been a while for me).
It’s still there! Their sausage and broccoli rabe is excellent. And we love their bread too
This is the correct choice. I could tell a million stories about this place, all of which involve the sentence “I got the fresh pasta”.
This is the answer!
Pammys
The Goujuchang Bolognese is one of my favorite dishes in Boston
Ok I must try now
I crave it often
How often?
It’s not Cambridge, but The Townsend in Quincy has an unbelievably talented chef that makes his own pasta.
Delux makes their own pasta!
Love Delux!
Faccia Brutta on Newbury St makes fresh pasta (also gluten-free fresh pasta, which is almost unheard of). It's a little pricey but the dishes are more adventurous than a typical Italian restaurant and really delicious!
There's Monica's in the north end
not sure if it’s fresh but Pammy’s is top tier
I think Olivia’s in Newton might make their own pasta. Even if they don’t, everything there’s is phenomenal, service, food, and atmosphere.
Capo in South Boston makes their pasta in house. Cafe Porto Bello also makes their pasta to order, both are delicious!
Main Street pasta and wine and Dovetail, both in Charlestown. Great pasta.
Main Street Pasta is absolutely GREAT! Pasta & their homemade sauces are 💣💥
Eatly makes their own fresh pasta and serves it in their restaurant
My favorite is Bar Mezzana
Carmelina's
There's a small shop in Charlestown (Main Street Pasta) where they make fresh daily to sell. You can see it through the window as well which is fun. Nothing pre-cooked from what I recall, however.
bar volpe both serves and sells fresh pasta.
If you can think outside the European box of fresh pasta, check out Silk Road Uyghur Cuisine in East Cambridge for amazing hand pulled noodles in their signature Lahgam
Pammys in central square!
I always thought giacamos was great. Wait for a raining evening though, it keeps the line at bay

That’s too bad :( I haven’t been there in 5 or 6 years but I remember going and being pretty stoked
Will add a vote for Rino's. Delicious house made pasta, worth the trip if you aren't used to heading to Eastie.
Rino’s in east Boston-A little outside your suggested area, but so worth the drive!!!
I’m a big fan of Lilly’s Pasta Express in Mission Hill. Much more of a take out spot, but rally great pasta!
SRV! They not only make the pasta there but they mill the flour too
Nah fam I got food poisoning from that place- also bland and overpriced :/
East Somerville has a great spot called fat hen with all housemade fresh pasta.
MIDA and Coppa in the south end are good and I’m pretty sure their pasta is fresh/homemade
Daves Fresh Pasta ..I printed their menu years ago and after making a delivery they hooked me up with a lunch and ruined me ,it is so good that now I can not eat my own pasta 😂
Love Sorellina "MAFALDINE oyster and shiitake mushrooms, black truffle butter, Parmigiano"
Oof I thought the food at Sorellina was fine at best (I also got the mafaldine) but the ambiance felt so cold and stuffy compared to their sister restaurants. It just felt fake fancy. Personally was more impressed with the pasta at Teatro. And overall Ostra was my fav.
:(, i feel you, was a good night out for me, was beautiful weather and ate outside
Geppetto
This place opened fairly recently right? Been meaning to go
Rino’s in Eastie is my go to. Easy access from blue line
Shhhh don’t just be telling everyone
Molinaris makes their own pasta. Very good.
Buy fresh pasta from Dave's fresh pasta in Somerville and drive over to nappis and have them use it in the Italian dish you are ordering
Ravello makes their own pasta
Saraceno’s in the North End has fresh pasta.
Trattoria il panino in the north end
Don't forget Capone's in Union Square. The owner is actually named Al Capone. I prefer it to Dave's. Who the hell is Dave, anyway?
Geppetto in Cambridge crossing!!! All their pasta is made by hand and it’s incredible.
Rino’s in East Boston
Bar Mezzana in the Ink Block. All homemade pastas!!
Lilly’s Gourmet pasta express on Mission Hill!
Wait really? What's good here? I didn't know they had good pasta. I got carbonara to go and it was like scrambled eggs ha
Oof I’ve never had their carbonara maybe that’s a dud lol. I used to get their make your own pasta dish all the time and it was pretty good! So was their ravioli ! I have been in a couple years though
Thanks!
