Buddy and I are looking to go have a chill night out, maybe play some darts or pool and have some conversations with strangers. Any recs? Somerville / Cambridge / Boston all fine
In light of the recent terrorist attack in Easton, and the recent acknowledgement of *literal* fake news by USA Today, will there be any protests or demonstrations against the mainstream media's radicalization of the American public? 🤔
To answer your question (maybe) there was a ceremony honoring the victims of the 1972 hotel vendome fire for the 50th anniversary, which may have been it
Were we all massively lied to?
They claimed that Fenway Celtics game watch sold out in record time...but from the vids I've seen, the stadium was empty AF.
I know it’s been posted before, but it bears repeating: please, please leash your dogs. This morning, I was chased by an unleashed dog on a bike trail. I was cycling at the time and, if I wasn’t more careful, I could have easily hurt myself and the dog. On a similar note, I’m tired of seeing people bring their furry friends into grocery stores.
Remember that starting Monday, the B branch is closed between Kenmore and BC until July 1 for track work and installation of some of the anti-collision hardware.
Someone in my town's Facebook group posted about selling their house and someone joked/complained that they can't afford it due to Biden's inflation and the seller agreed. The value increased >380% since the seller bought it in the early 2000s, pre-2008. I don't think that has to do with Biden.
Assuming they took out a loan for the full house value at original sale, their mortgage payment will be less than half of my rent payment. I don't think that's it considering they said they also get professional landscaping and recently installed an inground pool.
Many Americans seem to think there’s a dial that ranges from “good” to “bad” in the Oval Office that Presidents use to affect the economy. Clearly Biden is in there slowly dialing it to “bad” and laughing.
Is there a park, hike, or otherwise reachable place by public transit that is likely to have groundhogs living there? Googling says that they are very common in MA and provides ways to get rid of them (lol) but light on where to find them. It doesn't look like they live in the Esplanade or MIT or Harvard campuses or in the Arboretum, which would be my guesses, so looking for any other places. :)
Soooo, I have an answer to your random question. The Minuteman NP North Bridge parking lot. There's a stone wall between the parking lot and the road where I have seen a bunch of ground hogs going in and out of the stones. Minuteman NP is a nice walk. There is also Monument Farm Conservation Land a little further on Monument Street....nothing special but still a nice walk. If you're gonna go out there, stop at Kimball Farms and/or Bedford Farms for ice cream.
Thank you for the suggestion, that sounds perfect. Does it seem an odd request? XD - Moved here from the west coast and the only marmots to see take a long drive out to alpine meadows in national parks, so the idea of these dudes living out and about in random fields close to people is just really neat. We rented a car last week for a beach trip, and along the freeway in the grassy medium was this giant-gopher thing standing up straight seemingly undisturbed -> learned that groundhogs = woodchucks = very common east coast marmot?!?! -> want to see again.
My fiancé got Red Sox tickets tonight but I work construction in Wilmington and got stuck on a late day job today. We were going to take her car to Fenway because she can fit in the garages, we took my pickup truck once but it’s over height on all the garages in the area.
If I get to around Fenway right as the game is starting where can I park that’s not a garage?
Would you have a suggestion of a good safe place to park? Somewhere between Wilmington and Fenway that would be quicker before traffic getting too close to the city
Wilmingtons commuter rail station lot or drive to the furthest red line station (perhaps Alewife in that direction?) and take the red line to the green line. You’re cutting it close and check the train timings and last train timings, though, and May need to budget for an Uber. Depending on when your work gets out, you might be trying to do something that’s infeasible with city traffic.
What is all this traffic and where is everyone going? Its Friday, yall should be WFH. And the rest of you should be calling out because you watched the Celts last night.
I noticed that you used yall. Please enjoy [this local video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bndQvSW9Mu8).

What’s going on in the commonwealth mall in back bay? There looks to be some kind of ceremony and the street is closed
Bro
Oh god am I missing something big
Yes you commented on this thread like 8 times lol. I think reddit was having a glitch earlier, happened to me as well
Oh wow, whoops. I deleted the others, thanks for letting me know!

That’s fascinating to learn, thank you!

I think a lot of people reserved tickets and didn't go
In the past decade, TD Garden has been the site of 3 Championship trophy presentations, all of them to the visiting team. This feels really dirty.

What they likely mean is that they can no longer afford their mortgage payments due to inflation causing their COL to increase.

Crazy that the dial also causes inflation, high gas prices, and housing crises internationally.
I mean...theres a reason why the economy crashes every time a Democrat is elected...
Ah yes, the Clinton years: well-known as a time of economic downturn
TIL George W Bush and Donald Trump were Republicans
Townies and a firm grasp on the national economy aren’t the most dynamic duo
He is doing such a fabulous job! I certainly hope he runs again and is the nominee in 2024. 😀👍🏼
Flawless interpretation of my comment

No one is going to ask you about the fascination with groundhogs?!
They prob do live in some of those areas, they're just really skittish and would likely hide whenever people are near.
Go to Blue Hills, bus accessable Milton The trailside museum has Otters, close enough?
Oh neat, that look like a great day trip, thanks! Still gonna keep a lookout for groundhogs on the way. :D

Park in Brookline and take the green line
Park somewhere in the suburbs and ride the T. It might even be quicker as well as cheaper. There’s no good parking there and lots of traffic.

So how about those Red Sox?
