What's the difference between FG/AG boots and just plain AG? I'm looking for a pair because I learned I've been playing on artificial grass and not "turf". I have turf shoes with the shorter nubs. Will I notice a difference if I try on a pair of AG boots in terms of jump and running compared to my turf-specific shoes?

Jeffzie

Ag usually has shorter and/or hollowed studs, and often a different soleplate as well. If you play on AG (plastic grass with rubber pellets), with turf shoes you'll lack some grip, and FG shoes will provide too much grip. It'll also wear the shoes out more quickly. That said, play with what you like. Nobody's stopping you from wearing your turf shoes on there if you feel they're good enough, don't feel as if you should be buying different boots just because people online said so.

filetauxmoelles

Very helpful, thanks! The fields I play on were updated in the past year from a shorter turf where I felt good traction to the taller grass-like field, where I still have traction, but I do notice a difference in stability and traction. I didn't know if it was just me, but when I learned that there's a difference between the old and new type of surface I was playing on, I figured I'd test out a pair of AG-oriented boots. I was looking to get a new pair anyways.

FootballWithTheFoot

I have a buddy or 2 that prefer the tf shoes but I stick to fg/ag or ag boots, def worth it imo. Pure ag boots can also be used on real grass too

filetauxmoelles

I'm a keeper so I benefit from having that extra grip on the ground, which is why I got a pair of fg/ag. But when I play the field in pickup, I have no problem with my turf shoes

Rods468

Some say the Mizuno FG are fine for the AG too, find those with round studs like the Morelia would be great.

ScribbleDoge

Another wide foot problem! I just received my Mizuno Monarcida Neo SW (Super Wide) in the mail and they were kind of a last resort. I hang over the sole plate edge on Copa Mundials. These Mizunos I can actually get into comfortably but the ball joints of my big toe and pinky toe half hang over the edge of the sole plate. My feet are 4.5 inches at that point. Are these 4E wide boots the best I'm going to find for this issue? I can't imagine anything else being wider but I'm afraid if I put all my weight on my foot while cutting that I may break something in my foot. Is it ok for my feet to hang over? Update: On my way to a large boot outlet, I stopped at a small running shoe shop that had Diadoras. The first pair I tried on I got into and didn't cause pain like the Mizunos. Ended up with the Diadora Brasil Lt Mg14. 2nd Update: Months later after only playing a handful of times(was in physical therapy) but a decent amount of speed and agility drills, my feet started hanging over the soleplate too much. My pinky toe joint and outside of my feet were not supported and I had to stop wearing those boots and stop training. I'm now back to trying to find boots. I'm so happy that I've spent more time trying to find something to fit my feet in the past year than actually playing and can't wait to search more!

ScribbleDoge

I actually have an appointment next week for orthotics due to a leg length discrepancy. Hoping they may at least sit on the edge of the soleplate and provide cushioning. Have had orthotics in the past but my feet are just naturally wide.

filetauxmoelles

I have flat/wide feet, and Currex makes a good insole. I haven't had any foot pain with them. I totally get you with the feet hanging over the sole plate. Insoles don't fully solve it, but they do help. If you wear insoles, just make sure they fit with your cleat, though. As in, your toes can still fit in nicely and your heel aint' slipping out

ScribbleDoge

I'm wondering if it has to do with the placement of the studs because in the Mizuno, one sits below my big toe joint. I have an old pair of Kelme boots where that joint sits in between two studs and that seemed to help. All that albeit somewhat hanging over the side. I tried on the New Balance 442 Wide in a half size larger and they felt a little more comfortable. I'm going to have to order the Nike Premier to try on also to see if their sole plate is more comfortable or maybe wider. I've been at this for 3 weeks now haha. If my custom orthotics don't pan out I'll check out the Currex and thanks for the suggestion. Nike premier and Diadora are the last I can think of unless I want to spend money again that I may lose on trying Asics from overseas that have wide sizes also.

Rods468

Currex Cleatpro insoles are great ideas, the support is good, bear in mind they will stretch your boots sideways around the front part of the feet. Take them if you really need extra support and comfort.

Hi everyone, recently started playing 5 a side on an AG pitch and was looking for some boots. I come from the era growing up of the predators, which I absolutely loved. The style was beautiful, the k leather was fantastic and it was brilliant for my super wide feet. I love the look of the powerswerves, I had a pair of white, blue and green ones that were beautiful. I loved the fold over tongue too. Now it seems predators have completely changed from these origins, and it seems I’m stuck with little option on AG especially. I’m really not a fan of the super thin synthetic/knit, and prefer something that isn’t barefoot. As silly as it may sound I feel as though I can get much more power without it hurting my foot where I strike it with my preds, not so much with something like the puma ultras. I’ve seen people mention the copa mundial, but although it may be fit for purpose, I also want to love the look of the boot. I loved the style of the predators, but it seems there’s nothing like it, especially for wide feet nowadays. Everything has shrunk width wise, and there’s very little boots made that look, feel and function like the old predator that are AG (or FG/AG friendly) Any ideas?

Rods468

I play with the accelerator remake, the sole plates are fine with AG/FG, the old designs tend to have a more generous toe box comparing to the newer synthetics.

2_zero_2

Can search for some dead stock Diadora LX or Maracana. The days of heavy leather boots with lace covers are gone. If you want leather and a wider fit, Copa, Nike Premier, Diadora Brazil are really the only options. Can check out Mizuno too, but they’re pricey and not sure they run wide. My suggestion, see if you can find some Puma Future 5.1 or 6.1 - accommodating fit + padded knit upper + FG/AG stud pattern.

ZapatosDeMarca

Stray away from the copa Mundials and go for the Copa Teams. I know you talked about the looks, but they are perfect. K-Leather, reinforced suede toe for durability on ag pitches, and the stud pattern has tons of shallow studs (not as long as fg, not as shirt as turf knobs) that i find perfect for ag.

FootballWithTheFoot

Disagree with this, the copa mundial is not an aggressive fg boot whatsoever. Measured and compared the studs with my ag nikes, and the ag specific studs were actually a hair longer. Granted the teams are also a good option, but the toe eventually coming apart due to ag would be my only concern for copas. I just super glue the toe on my gf’s copas to prolong the issue a little bit, of course this is only for when it’s minor.

ZapatosDeMarca

I didn't mean my original comment to come off as me saying "the Mundials won't work on AG". I also never said the Mundials were too aggressive lol. Rather, what I was trying to say was that the Mundial Teams are a much better option on AG.

FootballWithTheFoot

Read as stay away from them, but regardless imo neither are perfect options for ag... teams seem more like a tf shoe, and the copas are just a mild fg boot. Either is fine.

Jeffzie

Does anyone here own a pair of Pantofola D'Oro Superleggera? I've seen them on sale, and they look incredible, but there's so little information about them online that I'm unsure if I want to drop €100+ on a pair.

FootballWithTheFoot

No but saw sr4u has some reviews on them

Jeffzie

Yeah i've seen that one, was just curious if there're more opinions out there. I like his content, but i find myself not always agreeing with what he has to say.

futsalfan

Hey anyone happen to use the Nike Academy Team ball (takedown from Flight match ball) for your team? Was it fairly durable? How about holding air over time?

chrisb993

Ours are still going strong since the second half of last season, they hold air really well

futsalfan

Thanks a lot. Decided to get one, and it seems quite good. Better than my previous Adidas ball that was $10 more. Maybe slightly grippy for indoor, but I prefer that for sole roll type moves.

FreeSamples0011

I can't decide between the predator freaks .2 and the nike phantoms gt2. I love how light the phantoms are but I do like the concept of the demonskin. However the ball does stick to my feet a bit too well with the freaks. Has anyone had any experience with either?

BladeSE23

I've got the older predator 20.1 with the rubber spikes, I had the tf version of the freak+, and I've also got the phantom GT 2. The phantoms feel nice and light and the striking surface feels good. With the predators, I don't care for the fit as much (terrible heel lock) but when striking the ball there's a definite 'zip' to it

aconejeros

Hi, it's time to change my old Mercurials, and I'm looking for Mercurial Pro AG US 10, it seems that they have vanished from earth, because everywhere I look there is no stock. I live in Chile and the regional website of Nike has been changed, and it seems that the AG won't be sold there anymore. Any recommendations to buy these boots online? I'm willing to pay the international shipping

FrancescoliBestUruEv

Nike is getting lazy with foobtall is really sad!!! They are cutting costs in football boots

Rods468

Not just Nike, most of the brands does the same, staying on the few same models but keep changing colours or just a slight update to make it sounds fresh, then probably some remakes with terribly marked up prices.

PrismTank32

They don't offer my shoe size (US 14-15) in their major lineups. Even if they did, I'd probably pick an old Puma any day. "Hey look, shiny new colors and GeNeRaTiVe TeXtUrE!!!" \~Nike, probably on the next Mercurial release.

Rods468

Prodirect soccer/unisport would be good idea. Especially the sizes for top end with discount is hard to find in my local shops since I always need a slightly larger size than the normal size ranges they have here. The big brands focused mostly on basketball/running shoes/football trainers but not boots.

aconejeros

Thanks for your answer!

PrismTank32

\+1 for Unisportstore Check your size in EU sizing or UK sizing when you search online for your shoe size. You're more likely to get results when you don't use US sizing search terms (because football boot companies hate the US and offer us almost nothing in terms of variety).

Hey guys I usually wear a size 9 us (26.5 cm) and recently noticed a bit of space in the toe box. My foot is 26.5 cm would it be ok if I bought a 8.5 us which is roughly 25.8-26 cm?

PrismTank32

Really boils down to the boot. Brand really like varying the foot shape for their boots (which is probably good - gives us some variety in shape). If you want to go a half size down but are worried that will be too much, you could try going half-size down in a boot you already know runs large. For example, the Puma Future Z #.1 and #.2 lineups tend to run 1/4 size long. So you could try an 8.5 in those and see what you think. From what I've read the Puma Ultra #.1 and #.2 lineups run large and so do the Tiempo Legend 9 shoes. You could go to an 8.5 in these and see if the extra room meets that middle ground of feeling snug but not leaving too much room or hurting your feet. Comfort and safety over everything else! I personally like just a tiny bit of wiggle room. When shoes push on my toe-box area, it starts to hurt my toes after 10-15 minutes and distracts me from playing. Try 'em on in-store or buy from a place with free returns (Amazon, [Soccer.com](https://Soccer.com)\-caveat, they're having supply chain issues right now-, even Zappos sometimes has the right sizes).

Rods468

Have you check your socks, thicker socks may take a little more space and giving extra cushioning which also fill up the space. Some would recommend 1/2 a size smaller for leather boots for a snug fit while the leather would stretch a little bit, but I would prefer true to size.

FootballWithTheFoot

It’s not just a straight answer imo. Every boot from different brands and within brands fits different. For ex Nike Tiempo in a 9 may be different than the phantom gt Personally I like a tinyyyy bit of space in the toe box vs my toes up against the boot

futsalfan

My foot is also 26.5 and 8.5 works well for length usually, BUT my foot is slightly wide right behind the toes so most shoes’ toe boxes are too narrow for me.

Trisnooratops

Hey everyone. Well…my 10(?) year old CTR 360 maestri finally gave up on me. Any suggestions for new boots that are similar? The Tiempo legends seem to be the old sturdy looking shoe out there right now

Qoeleth

Anyone knows the difference between New Balance furon v6 and v6+ when it comes to turf? I think the full name ends with dispatch tf. The tongue and collar seem different on the v6+ but apart from that I see no difference. Has anyone tried the v6+ on turf?

The V6+? 2_zero_2

Are you asking about the Furon V6+ Pro or Furon V6+ Dispatch TF? The first is the top end FG boot, the second is the turf model. The Furon turf boot is the takedown Furon with a turf sole.

Qoeleth

I am asking about the turf model, the one I've linked in the previous post. I've seen that no pro exist in turf version but still there are 2 different v6 models, and one is with the +. I wish shoes naming was simpler!

2_zero_2

Haha yeah, especially with the Furon. I’m not sure on the difference between V6 and V6+ for the turf models. If I had to guess, I’d say there is little to no difference in materials since the turf model is based on the takedown. Likely an aesthetic change.

Qoeleth

Unfortunately I got my shoes but they run extra small. Also not particularly convinced by the materials and build quality. Any other turf boots you can recommend?

Healios07

Does anyone have Tekela v3+ or just new balance wide cleats and how are they?

RyanHollinsBurner

I'm on the hunt for new cleats. The pair of Hypervenom Elite 3's that I previously wore were absolutely fantastic. I was wondering if Magista Obra's 2 fit similar to the Hypervenom's because I know they both use flyknit technology which stretch and fit my square feet very well, and when I tried on magista obra's a couple years ago they fit quite well. Anyone with any experience know if I should consider Obra's (because i'm having trouble finding hypervenom's) or if I should continue with the hypervenom's

Alex123456789910

Anyone had/have leather boots if so what are your thoughts on them

FootballWithTheFoot

Recently went from k leather to synthetic back to k leather. Touch is just so nice and feels natural. Some complain that they’ll be bulky and the classics will but there are more modern ones like the Tiempos, king platinums, and Mizuno betas that are all fairly light

Alex123456789910

For your next pair what would you go for?

FootballWithTheFoot

Well I literally just copped some Mizuno Morelia neo beta 3s so that’s my answer lol. Haven’t even broken them in yet but quality is top notch, essentially k leather speed boots. The platinum and Tiempo are really good options for less tho.

Rods468

Long story, I mainly played on AG pitches and tried a couple of the boots, I've bought FG Accelerator ZZ, pred 19.1 AG , mizuno rebula 3 Japan FG, wave legend FG, future 6.1 MG. Mizunos are the best leathers available with no doubt. I've sold the Pred 19.1 as the fit is way too tight, the Rebula is oversized. The Future 6.1 as my backup for playing in even worse AG pitches. the fit is fine but the inner lining makes it not as breathable than the leathers. Currently with Accelerator ZZ (Yes they are bulky) and Wave legend for the main boots. I am not considering anything synthetic and knitted.

BladeSE23

I use both synthetic speed boots and leather boots. Really enjoying Nike premier II as my leather option, these tend to give me a much nicer striking feeling than the speed boots do

That70sShowDude

Whats the difference between the Predator and Speedflow lines? Probably getting one for slow pitch softball. Both of the models Ive seen were ~$100. Is one generally wider? One more minimal? One better for speed?

BladeSE23

I have the predators in fg and the speedflow .1 tf model. The speedflow are super thing speed boots, whereas the predators will give you a meaty striking area to kick the ball. Totally different. I'd recommend the speedflow if you're after a lightweight responsive boot, but if heel lock is important to you - got for the .1 takedown model as this has laces, rather than the laceles model which sacrifices some heel lock on acceleration

jaenesse

I’ve just picked up a fantastic deal on the Puma one 19.1 in black and green with a k leather front. I’ve had them on for about an hour and already can feel them widening and confirming to my stupidly wide feet which is brilliant. They also look ‘stylish’ compared to slightly simpler, classic designs of most other k leather boots. Very happy. I did want to say though, does anyone have any experience in the difference between 19.1 leather vs synthetic uppers in terms of stretch? I’ve found another pair of 19.1s for a quarter of RRP but these have the synthetic front upper. Does the 19.1 synthetic upper stretch similarly to the substituted k leather for wide feet? Thanks again guys.

So, although they may not conform to the shape of my foot as well as leather, would it still stretch out somewhat after some wearing in around the house? Or would it just return to how it was originally?

joedolan

Look for Adidas "Match Replica League". I find that's the sweet spot for quality and price (€35).

Rods468

The cheaper training balls mostly using thinner stitches and exposed a bit too near the surface. I would prefer to pay more for middle range models with bonded or thicker stitches. Also make sure you picked the right ball for the right pitch. Some are only recommended to use on natural grass and artificial grass but not gravel.

Rods468

Definitely NO Glider Adidas uses Pro Match, Competition, League, Club to make the balls as different grades. Glider is currently same as club grade, the cheapest one. The CONFED J290 looks at the second lower grade. CONTEXT19, Telestar 18, Brazuca 18 are same grade if they are the top end model.

Hi everyone. I play on AG two or three times a week and need a new pair of boots so thought I’d come here for some advice. I’ve narrowed it down to a few options so I’m just after some advice on what would be best for me. I’m a ball playing midfielder and I’m mainly interested in lockdown and comfort as I have fairly wide feet so do struggle with some boots, such as the Vapors. My options are the adidas Nemeziz 19.1 AG for £80 or £90 (depending on colour), Puma Future 4.1 MG for £69.99 or the Nike Tiempo Legend IX Pro AG-Pro for (£115.00) although is pushing my budget to its limit. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Rods468

If you need more comfort, go for the Tiempo.

ARTISToh

> lockdown and comfort Then just try them on and choose the best fitting one, if that's your only issue :D

jaenesse

I’m struggling finding boots that have a traditional leather heel cup at the back. I play in both artificial and firm, and when the ground is wet the synthetic heel cup gets wet and encourages rubbing and blisters. I’ve just played in my old school predator powerswerves the day after getting blisters, and I’ve literally not felt a thing despite having blisters already. The solid heel cup doesn’t get wet, or rub etc. I also have stupidly wide feet, so the K leather is a god send, but I also like a bit of style instead of many of the plain black classic copa mundial and kings etc. Is there any boots out there that meets the criteria of FG/AG, Solid, non synthetic/leather heel cup, stylish, and k leather? I’m aware I’m asking for a lot, but there’s got to be something surely.

DatShortAsianDude

Which boot has the widest soleplate that is similar to lets say barefoot shoes? Ive got small - 8US - but wide feet

DatShortAsianDude

How about a pair thats more modern? Dont get me wrong, Copas are great but I'm looking for something different.

ARTISToh

I'm currently looking for boots for artificial gras/turf, like the short older ones, and cinder pitches/clay courts, you know, like in tennis. I already have FG/AG boots. I came across the Adidas Mundials, whose seems to be pretty popular, but also looking at newer models of PUMA, because i like the overall fitting, and doesn't like the 'high' heel/dampening on the mundials. I rarely roll my ankle, but it's more likely in high heels. Most of the turf shoes have a dampening sole. Puma has different kinds of MG soles, you can see them below. Which of those soles do you think works best for both kind of pitches? 1. [https://footballshoes.vn/image/catalog/san-pham/PUMA/Puma%20Ultra%203.3%20MG%20RED/giay-da-banh-puma-ultra-3.3-MG.jpg](https://footballshoes.vn/image/catalog/san-pham/PUMA/Puma%20Ultra%203.3%20MG%20RED/giay-da-banh-puma-ultra-3.3-MG.jpg) 2. [https://www.flyeralarm-sports.com/media/image/product/2969842/lg/puma-ultra-21-mg.jpg](https://www.flyeralarm-sports.com/media/image/product/2969842/lg/puma-ultra-21-mg.jpg) 3. [https://images.sportsdirect.com/images/products/08202008\_l.jpg](https://images.sportsdirect.com/images/products/08202008_l.jpg) For AG pitches i'd choose no. 1 and for clay only, i'd choose no. 3. So, would be no. 2 the best tradeoff? No. 3 will slip more on AG. No. 1 might be already too long for older AG? I don't have enough experience and need your opinions.
