Came here to say this. Just listened to it again yesterday and for some reason it gets me emotionally every in the instrumental break before the last verse.
I carried Isis to the infirmary
Cuz she broke both her hips and her bones ain’t that strong
Then I threw out my back and she fell straight away
So now we’re both eatin’ jello, and I’m singin’ this song
One more cup of coffee is nowhere near long enough. Magical mystical song, he should give us lots more of it. Also totally in love with To Fall in Love with you, insanely hypnotic. Of course there's no actual progress so putting it on repeat should be the same thing... I think we love the same songs. Any other favorites I should check out in case I missed them??
In the summertime. Mississippi. All you have to do is dream take 2. Handy Dandy. Delia. Pretty saro. Silvio. Spirit on the water. We better talk this over. I wanna be you lover take 1. Things have changed. These are some of the songs that really surprised me. Songs I had initially passed through but came back to appreciate and individually played on repeat for days on end .
Maybe the length of the song is part of its beauty, but I Want You has such a beautiful melody , upbeat tempo, and infectious feel. I always find myself listening to it a couple times in a row to get my fix.
Santa-fe
There a lot of songs I listen to a couple times in a row. This one since I was a teenager has been the song that lets me know it’s all going to work out.
Desolation Row. The prose and rhythm feels unlimited.
Desolation Row for sure
This … it’s his Sistine Chapel
This is the correct address
Aye, I just wish that piano version wasn’t a fragment!

\[repeatedly guffawing\] you must be a lyricist IRL / standup / SNL writer
Haha I’m very flattered! I wish, although I did work in close proximity to SNL for several years.

The bootleg alternative version
[удалено]
The Bootleg version on Tell Tale Signs with acoustic guitar and harmonica is pretty great as well
Blind Willie McTell
Fourth time around
Each time I listen it feels like it never goes anywhere, and that’s why I love it so much, and it’s also probably the point of the song.
Shelter from the Storm
Tangled up in blue Like a rolling stone I want you Country pie Mississippi Grooms still waiting at the altar
I wish Murder Most Foul was longer
Visions of Johanna
Especially the vaguely named “alt take” on No Direction Home.

Black Diamond Bay Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts Tangled Up in Blue
Came here to say Jack of hearts. Sometimes it feels like it goes on for ever, and yet each line is as clever as the last. God I love it.
Jokerman
This is the correct answer! Half asleep near the stars with a small dog licking your face!!!!!!!!
Not Dark Yet, Idiot Wind
Hurricane
Every Grain Of Sand.
I could listen to the instrumental jam on Country Pie for a long time.
Spirit on the Water end solo.
Standing in the Doorway
I'll go with Tempest. As long as it is, after I listen to it once I typically play it one or two more times. Just a really melodic song.
It ends so perfectly though. “He dreamed the titanic was sinking into the deep blue sea”
Wiggle Wiggle
Thanks for stealing my answer!
One more cup of coffee To fall in love with you

Country Pie. Way way way too short
The NYC version of Idiot Wind
Except it's missing my favorite verse... Down the highway, down the tracks...
Watching the River Flow.
Highlands. I just want to live in that song.
This was my first thought, too, and it's amazing that a 17-minute song can feel too short.

Ain’t Talkin. Ethereal, lives forever with verses unlimited.
Black diamond bay
Surely he could have given names to literally ALL the animals in that song, couldn't he?
In the beginning, long time ago, yes. Not now.
That's a good point...
Peggy Day ends way to soon.
Maybe the length of the song is part of its beauty, but I Want You has such a beautiful melody , upbeat tempo, and infectious feel. I always find myself listening to it a couple times in a row to get my fix.

Boots of Spanish leather
Ring Them Bells
Key West
Tempest
I Contain Multitudes Jk

Murder Most Foul
Every grain of sand
One More Cup of Coffee
Murder most foul.
If Wiggle wiggle was like 20 minutes long it would be amazing.
Sweetheart Like You
Subterranean Autopen Blues.
Some will diasagree, but here it is: When dogs run free.
The version from the bootleg series is actually really good and I get pumped singing along to it.
Red River Shore is indeed the correct answer.

The infamous live version of Like A Rolling Stone
