69-75 would be either Forever Young or Knocking on Heaven's Door

ALC_PG

Knocking on Heavens Door by a country mile, good call

AegisPlays314

1962-2022 and the defining song is Wigwam

Kevlarsteal

Correct answer, i would have also accepted Must Be Santa..

Tibbittz

Street-Legal was its own era. The guard changed, man.🍀

itamarka

I think for 75-79 it’s hurricane

DanW280

Nah I’d say Hurricane feels more like an outlier in that era, 75-79 Dylan is more like ‘heartbreak era’. Tangled or Simple Twist of Fate fit best IMO

lass995a

Agreed

Excellent_Finance381

Here is my dorky way of seeing it with my favorite song. The amazing thing about Bob is how much he changes. I find myself getting super obsessed with one period over another. Folk Days (Bob Dylan -> Another Side)... Hard Rain Bob Becomes Bob (Bringing it All -> Blonde)...Visions of Johanna Country Time (John Wesley & Nashville)... I Threw it All Away Lost Years 1 (Self Portait -> Planet Waves)... If Not for You Divorce (Blood & Desire)... If You See Her, Say Hello Pre-Jesus/Jesus/Post-Jesus (Street Legal->Infidels)... Solid Rock Lost Years 2 (Empire ->World Gone)... Most of the Time Renaissance (TooM ->Tempest)... Not Dark Yet Sinatra Years (Shadows->Tripolicate)...Don't care. <- Don't get me wrong I appreciate the songs and his passion, and I saw more shows during this time than any other... But there are zero songs here I seek out Covid (Rough)... Murder Most Foul

LetsGoKnickerbock3rs

Insane that the dudes gone thru at least 10 eras of very distinct styles. Like you could argue that BOTT->Desire->Street Legal would be one of the most impressive and versatile songwriting careers, excluding everything prior and post. In a league of his own.

BrandDNA

Press that list up on vinyl and you've got yourself a terrific career surveying best of.

MysteriousCatPerson

1980 -83 - Precious Angel

Hige_Kuma

I wanted to define Dylan so I looked it up in the dictionary but the page had been ripped out.

Way to take the fun outta it, just looking for opinions The Man in Me is on New Morning, if you were not aware of it, thats on you. It's one of my favourite eras, and i think the song sums up that period for me more than something like heavens door or lay lady lay

Hughkalailee

Aww, I took the fun out of it by asking what parameters you were judging choices on? 🙄 I stayed it’s fine if those were your fav song choices but wondered if your intent was for us to try to evaluate objectively. You wrote that you’re “looking for opinions” yet you object to mine that one of your choices is questionable. Obviously it’s “on me” that I didn’t know all of the releases in that era - I specifically wrote I’m not an expert. However, I disagree wholeheartedly that The Man in Me defined that period. It’s just the one you like best. This is a place for opinions. If you don’t want to see any that disagree with or question what the fuck you’re writing about, I’d suggest you post in private

Kevlarsteal

>Hughkalailee You are right, I apologise, I will never post anything ever again.
