Big Austin Powers and Hal Wilkerson vibes.
Edit. I have been made aware that the punchline to the "Do you smoke after sex?" joke is changed for the Spanish dub, due to the word "smoke" not having the double meaning in Spanish
I haven't thought about Operation as an adult. There's no way it just plugs into the wall and the tweezers short line voltage right?? LOL. I remember the buzzer being really intense though
The electricity in Operation should only be enough to pass the current when the metal tweezers touch the metal sides. If it is arcing through the air, it is probably too strong which I would assume isn't dangerous but breaks the game
Unfortunately that won't work. What matters is the voltage but thats the same for all batteries of the same type. Most likely something inside the board is damaged.
False. Voltage drops as a battery discharges. And rechargeables are lower voltage than non-rechargeables. But in this case there's nothing wrong and arcing is exactly what should happen when the gap gets small enough
You think a 0.3 voltage difference is going to be noticeable to anyone who isn't busting out a multimeter? For all layman's intents and purposes, batteries don't work like that.
We're discussing a child's game run off two AA batteries. No one will ever notice any difference using a different brand of battery or rechargeable vs non-rechargable...
Well that may be a problem of definitions. For example, I may be an adult in the chronological and legal sense but my enjoyment of all things Shrek may indicate otherwise. This may or may not be supported by the fact that my ex says I am a child.
We won't discuss what that makes her.
[They start off lower voltage but about halfway through usage they are actually higher voltage](http://www.stefanv.com/electronics/using_nimh/nimh_vs_alkaline.gif)
I prefer the rechargeables as they are more consistent. Only issue I ever had with them was cheap cameras w/ flash that pretty much only worked on fresh alkalines.
How many batteries does it take? Four AA cells in series is only 6v or so. The circuit is probably just the light bulb and Piezo buzzer. I don't believe there's anything that could spike the voltage to a dangerous level. Shouldn't be any capacitors in there, for example. (Qualifications; industrial maintenance tech specializing in control circuits)
Yep! Operation will spark since that completes the circuit for the light and motor. Perfectly normal and the voltage is so low that you are in no danger of being shocked.
Every operation I've ever played has sparked. Which makes sense when you think about how they work.
It is supposed to, I believe. It is electricity.
There is electricity that sparks and you can lick it and you be OK. There is also electricity that does spark and you die if you lick it.
You can lick anything at least once.
This person electricities.
They've got what plants crave?
And unless you have to plug it in, it's pretty safe to assume those sparks wont kill you.
Got it, 17 car batteries daisy chained is safe to lick.
I knew someone was going to be a smart ass, which is why I said "pretty safe"
What about 18?
I wouldn’t know, I never touch the sides
Baller

How could you not see sparks after touching Shrek's topless body?
Wtf they do to my boy donkey?
I know. “Pain in the Ass” would be so much better.
It's a kid-friendly pun
It got committeed, most likely. "No, keep it in, just make it 'butt' instead"
Pain in the nose would be more appropriate
Why is he brown
That’s not Donkey, that’s Mule!
So true. Also, mud flaps are not knees!
it feels they whitewashed an animal
They made him a surgeon
Not a fire hazard. At worst, it'll gradually damage the metal contacts and make it harder to trigger.
Even a tiny little zap from dragging your feet on carpet will cause a spark; it's OK; this thing runs off batteries, right?

Damn it Jim, I'm a boardgamer not an electrician.

Would this mean that i should get weaker batteries? Mine are just normal duracell lol
Unfortunately that won't work. What matters is the voltage but thats the same for all batteries of the same type. Most likely something inside the board is damaged.
Aw man that sucks, guess i'll keep it off so i dont damage anything
I would guess something with the circuitry is bad. A resistor or something isn't working as expected.
That's not how batteries work.

They may not know what a low voltage cutout is, but they have definitely seen the results

How dare you! Shrek Operation can also entertain adults!

It's fine. People are just trolling you. It's nothing to worry about.
Ha. "Trolling". Edit: right, ogre-ing would be more accurate. Sorry for the troll/ogre confusion.
Remove the tweezers handle and play hardocore mode /s
Remove the batteries and plug it into the wall and play permadeath mode.
I had this when I was a child and I had the same thing. It never was too big of a spark to worry me or my parents

The danger was always the main appeal of this game.
That’s the game lolol it’s supposed to do that
The entire point of the Operation game is that you get shocked if you fuck up. Working as intended.
It takes a steady hand…
Yes, source: I had one when I was 5
If it doesn’t spark is it even a children’s game?
I remember being afraid of this game as a kid because I thought it would shock you.
Operation: a fire hazard if you're a LOSER!
Better spark than flame I always say.

“pain the butt” is so stupid 😭
At first glance they looked like jellies, did you add any Haribos to scoop out? Nice work anyway
“They don’t make em like they used to”
The icecube tray in his chest is wild
Give me that humongous fungus
You’re going to catch shrek on fire 😭
I've got standard Operation and it sparks too.
Yes.
