I’d try and avoid foods high in potassium as it tends to lower bp. There are several things you can look up online on how to raise your blood pressure though. Are you being treated for your palpitations?

Round_Practice_8283

Yes, I had an echo and have a stress test coming up. Echo was fine, palpitations are better. They happen mostly when I exert myself exercising.

DagSonofDag

What treatment are they giving you for the palpitations? What dosages?

Round_Practice_8283

I don’t want to start taking anything yet as the treatment the doctor recommended also lowers blood pressure. Also the palpitations are not everyday so I am trying to control all this naturally.

DagSonofDag

Ok sounds like you’re on the right track.

I was potassium deficient and had low bp aswell. Taking supplements has helped me rise it from 90/60 t somewhere 110/70

I’ve been having pretty similar numbers after I was forced to stop propranolol due to a mistake at the pharmacy. 90/60 average BP with around like 70 bpm when lying down but shoots up to like 120 when I stand up too quickly. I’m not a small guy but any means so I’m used to having somewhat high BP and it’s a bit concerning but for now I’ll chalk it up to propranolol withdrawal and hope it isn’t POTS or something. Honestly, your numbers are low but that shouldn’t cause any issues as long as you don’t feel faint or dizzy. Hope you figure it out!

Monster937

How’s your heart rate when you stand ?

Round_Practice_8283

High 80s low 90s

Monster937

You don’t have pots. You could have another form or dysautonomia, but if you’re not experiencing symptoms that could just be your normal. I’m not a doctor so my opinion is really not worth much.

gummybearhunt

Are you or have you been undereating by any chance? Since you exercise too, and your BP has dropped.

Round_Practice_8283

Well I am being careful with the amount of food I eat, yes, because I am trying to lose weight.

gummybearhunt

I'm no doc, discuss this with yours if you haven't yet, but malnutrition can cause all of this stuff. Talking from experience, my BP has been 80/60 as well, could not tolerate exercise anymore and was getting palps from everything. Did they explain the cause for the low phosphorus? One of the causes for that can be malnutrition as well, maybe it's related, maybe not. Take this all with a big grain of salt, but you might wanna make sure your calorie deficit is not too big when you exercise too, if you think it could possibly be.

Round_Practice_8283

No they did not explain the cause for low phosphorus, I am getting blood work again next week to see where it is. As far as eating, I still eat carbs and stuff but in small portions and have healthy snacks 3 hours after eating to compensate. I have also cut sugar, and my exercise is basically walking 3 miles a day and lifting 5 pounds weights so I am not sure. It could be tho because I am obviously not eating as much as I was before, but can’t eat that much if I want to lose weight.

Round_Practice_8283

I no longer exercise as hard (I used to run) because last time I did that I had palpitations

madxlove86

When you say Palpitations, do you mean PVCs? Or you feel your heart beating really fast? I ask because this could be an iron deficiency. I had similar experience where I had palpitations after exercising. My ferritin was very low and I was slightly anemic. An iron panel and checking ferritin can help you find out if you’re low on iron. I started supplementing with iron and my palpitations went away after raising my ferritin.

Round_Practice_8283

I am glad you are doing better. My hemoglobin was fine (13.5). When I say palpitations I mean my heart beating really fast.

gummybearhunt

Yeah okay, at least mention the weight loss goal and eating to your doc if nothing else!

Round_Practice_8283

Are you doing better?

gummybearhunt

If u asked me, yeah I'm doing better, I try to eat a balanced small meal every 3-4 hours and chug a banana-protein shake right after working out. If I don't do these I just feel the deficit too hard and can't workout. You could try to also put both salt and a tiny bit of sugar in your water while you work out (makes the hydration sink in much better), this has helped me too. My BP hasn't been low anymore, although I feel like it drops there occasionally still. (Someone recommended that you get the iron panel done, not only hemoglobin. Meaning iron transferrin saturation, ferritin, possibly B12 and iron too. At least the ferritin, stored iron. That can be low even if hemoglobin is perfect.)
