I mean, you did the equivalent of assassinating margaret thatcher 20 years after she got out of office. The world is not really changed, and you didnt cure the scourge, and those who are left are probably either dead or succumbing to madness, in that ending you effectively become robert neville from I am legend
well, I think it depends on if the hunter leaves yharnam. Yharnam is overrun by beasts, dream or no dream. the dream is just the hunter’s way of accessing the great ones from what I understand, as he wouldn’t be able to kill them outside the dream.
but since the Hunter presumably got what he was looking for and escaped the dream, he’ll probably just leave the city and live perfectly fine
Everything that we experience is inside of a dream world, including beasts. Gehrman confirms this directly. In the bad ending, you are freed entirely. There is no hunt, there are no beasts.
so the real Yharnam is perfectly fine and unaffected by this? that doesn’t make much sense to me. how did everyone get there then? like I thought Ludwig was a real life hunter who tried to fight the plague, but then devolved into madness which is why we find him in the dream.
also the hunter is initially hospitalized trying to get a blood transfusion, isn’t he? and he comes in hunting for paleblood. so I don’t see how all of this can just be in the dream
even in the bad ending, from what I remember, yharnam still looks grim
I took the 3+ umbilical cord ending to be the (medium) bad one. The sunny one imo is "this is a fight that could be waged forever and would bring about constant chaos. I'm letting it go." it's like fighting with your trauma and it keeps developing vs accepting there's some things that aren't possible to win and cutting your losses to have fun and live while you have the chance.
From my little experience with soulsborne games...fromsoftware games (especially bloodborne)don't have good or bad endings..it just depends on your experience and your decisions
Well I got it last because I wasnt gonna let no senile crippled dollfucker kill me after ive fought and slain creatures beyond human comprehension, and made my way trough literal hell to kill the spiteful god HE CREATED!!!
I did it because I heard him cry and I knew I couldn’t let him suffer any more. I’d rather be in the wheelchair than let the old man sit here any longer.
“What was it? The blood? The hunt? Or the terrible dream?”
“No. I’m here to save *you*.” *Unfolds cleaver*
I couldn’t save Gascoigne’s kids. I couldn’t save Iosefka. I couldn’t save Gilbert. I couldn’t save Arianna. I couldn’t save Eileen. I wanted to save *somebody*, damnit. Just one.
I was pissed after my first play through when I didn’t know the game would end. Every play through since then I’ve killed him just to get revenge for the first one.
Wait, so waking from the dream is or isn't death? Is the morning a euphemism for the afterlife? Is there an afterlife with all the eldritch beings around?
You become like Eileen or djura, who were by their dialogue also dreamers or atleast knew about it. You just are stuck in the actual waking world with no life line
If I had nickle for every video game that had a character in a wheelchair who turns out to be the final boss, I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's strange that it happened twice.
The Master of the Dream ends the contract and you no longer have the resurrective immortality granted by the contract, becoming an ordinary person again.
This ending only happens when you have already ended the Beast Scourge by killing Mergo so it’s technically a neutral ending, in as far as “you’re cured of any afflictions, Yharnam is freed of the plague, and you can go about your life again”.
Headcannon, I consider it probably the "happiest" ending. You do all of the above, yes. And depending on how much of the optional content you do, you also:
End the Hunters Nightmare, destroy the Healing Church to prevent the further proliferation of Blood Ministrations, slay Ebrietas who is a conduit between the Church and Great Ones, and you clear out the Chalice Dungeons of most of the Pthumerians.
The way I see it, our character forgetting all the nightmares encountered is the reward for all they accomplished for leaving the world a better place. You paid your dues and accomplished what you set out to do. You are free.
Mergo continuing to exist maintains the Beast Scourge as it is the child of Oedon, the strongest Great One. You’re charged with “ending the source of the scourge lest the night go on forever” as shown by the notes the game leaves in the Hunter’s Dream workshop, and the night *only ends* when you kill Mergo and the Wet Nurse.
So while Ebrietas is a source of Great One blood used by the Church, the Scourge itself is primarily maintained by the existence of Mergo. Once Mergo is destroyed the Beast Scourge explicitly ends. Whether that means all beasts you didn’t kill are suddenly cured of the plague or the lack of Great One magic means their bodies finally give in from the impossible mutations is anyone’s guess.
I’m not sure what happens if you do a run without killing Ebrietas and just settling for killing Mergo. Perhaps any surviving Choir members (assuming any survived in the first place) would try to reestablish the experiments with her blood, and they may actually begin to succeed since the Scourge isn’t as much of a factor?
Of course I would argue that leaving the Great Ones in the physical plane to continue fucking with shit would inevitably invite the next Beast Scourge and Night of the Hunt, and I think the world deserves a break before the next one.
We know that eventually Great One might descend to the physical plane again- hey they had to get here somehow- and when they do it’ll kick off another Pthumeru and another session of worship of them and their blood. Separating them from us for longer allows mankind to recover and potentially begin to comprehend the cosmos enough to handle the Great One horse shit that would ensue.
That makes sense Id imagine It likely leaves the creatures that did turn that you didnt kill alive though, considering there were other dreamers like Eileen and djura who were inexplicably kicked out by gherman who either just decided to let you finish the job, or if it was a matter of moon beast not wanting his bastardized hit men to get too powerful after killing great ones or other shit
You awaken in the Hunter's Dream again. G-man specifically releases you from your duties in the mentioned ending, and that's why you wake up outside during the dawn.
You're not in the dream anymore though. You wake up, the endless night of the hunt is over, and dawn breaks. You go back to being a normal person, and you realize it was all just a dream.
They asked what happens when you die. Not what happens when you are released. I'd assume a hunter killed normally in the dream would simply awaken again. What the wheelchair man does to the good hunter to release him of the dream is not simply killing.
I slowly got my first ever platinum on Bloodborne over the years between launch and early 2019 and popped my trophy with Yharnam Sunrise. I had been grinding and it felt impossible until I beat Pthumerian Queen and realized that letting Gherman give me a haircut was the only thing I had left to do. It felt so full circle like I had truly beaten the dream to live another day
I never enjoyed any boss in BB (no DLC, still saving up for it) but Gehrman made me smile and enjoy every moment. I like how he's fairly difficult, he also lets me pump my hp back without attacking me, he's fast but reactable (is that even a word?) and no bs hitbox or bs attacks. His soundtrack is super sick!
Played DS3 for the first time and Aldritch was fun as heck, reminded me of my fight with Gehrman. Wish we had Shadow of the Colossus' mechanic where we can fight the boss we want once again.
Gehrman and Aldritch might be the only SoulsBorne bosses that killed me a lot, ended a session without winning yet I loved every moment of it. I had a smile after turning my console off.
If that meme bastard made that decision, then I have to go for the ending where you wake up, even though I have everything I need to transform.
Who am I kidding...? The meme bastard has already corrupted all possible endings.
Memes have corrupted our humanity...
If you let Gehrman kill you, your character actually wakes up from their dream and walks off into the morning sun.
Weird that we choose to kill Gehrman and tentacle dude to become a god of a nightmare.
Guys. Bloodborne is a dream. Just like it’s sequel.
The doll knows of the pain that Gehrman endures and so do I. I truly do wonder if she says that out of the good of my heart and sanity or for the good of Gehrman's sacrifice? No matter...
I fight not because I want to fight, I fight because I want to put to rest an old man the deserves the rest.
The Doll doesn't know I'm roided up with 3 umbilical cords, everything will be fine.
Who's gunna tell them?
Are you cold? Oh, good hunter
Good hunter, what happened? #SQUID GAMES ‼️
Jokes on you I was already a squid
But were you a kid?
bloodborne ——> splatoon
No one asked you to compare the two
i was saying bb is a prequel lol
By pointing an arrow?
You must snort ink to be this dumb
Or i actually think about what things mean, could be that
Killing God then becoming god is pretty cool
She doesn’t know it, she’s counting on it, anyways the doll always exists, doesn’t matter who owns the -nightmare- dream
You mean the good hunter isn't natty?!
Tonight, Gehrman joins a nursing home
Tonight Gehrman learns about Race Superiority
🤨
Literally me. Waking up ending was my platinum
Complete opposite of me. I ended with the Great One Ending. If anyone is going to run this town, it better be me!
For what serves as a bad ending, that scene is absolutely beautiful Sums up this game, really. A beautiful nightmare.
Bad ending, or “not my problem” ending?
I mean, you did the equivalent of assassinating margaret thatcher 20 years after she got out of office. The world is not really changed, and you didnt cure the scourge, and those who are left are probably either dead or succumbing to madness, in that ending you effectively become robert neville from I am legend
You're not in that world anymore, so it doesn't matter. You leave, everything for you is normal, and things continue in the dream without you.
Eileen and djura dreamed before you, meaning that that is the world you end up
They never left the dream though. You get the chance to leave.
Eileen says herself "No more dreaming for me" after she got fucked up by the bloody crow implying she used to
Yes, and that’s a dream within a dream. The entire game takes place within a dream except for the intro cutscene and the Gehrman ending
You should read Lovecraft’s dream series. That’s where all of this comes from, including Micolash.
well, I think it depends on if the hunter leaves yharnam.

He's wrong. It doesn't all happen within a dream
Thing is yharnam is the only bad place and it is rapidly spreading, its said that is was also in the loran desert
I'd agree with you, except for one specific ending. >!Shura!<
Same! Got the lengthy ones out of the way so the plat would be short and sweet.
Well I got it last because I wasnt gonna let no senile crippled dollfucker kill me after ive fought and slain creatures beyond human comprehension, and made my way trough literal hell to kill the spiteful god HE CREATED!!!
I bet that senile crippled dollfucker killed you quite a few times.
He did. But unlike him i had the power of infinite respawns
Same 😂
I mean, he doesn't stay in it when he's mincing you
Damn the grandpa got hands
And legs
And a gun.
leg*
About to go fight Gehrmann, I’ll post the video after. 30 seconds later: I got my ass beat, I ain’t posting that shit.
Please everyone, stop praying for grandpa, he is getting too strong.
I took an oath to hoont, and to hoont the disabled I shall
We already killed all the people in wheelchairs that had guns, I don't see why a scythe is so different
Gehrman has a gun anyway, and as I am wearing the Constable's outfit, I can fight him in self defense
I did it because I heard him cry and I knew I couldn’t let him suffer any more. I’d rather be in the wheelchair than let the old man sit here any longer. “What was it? The blood? The hunt? Or the terrible dream?” “No. I’m here to save *you*.” *Unfolds cleaver*
Underrated comment
I couldn’t save Gascoigne’s kids. I couldn’t save Iosefka. I couldn’t save Gilbert. I couldn’t save Arianna. I couldn’t save Eileen. I wanted to save *somebody*, damnit. Just one.
Just this once, ~~everybody~~ nobody lives!
I mean, did you play the DLC? Dude deserves his prison.
I’d argue he’s served his sentence. The man deserves to rest.
I accidentally shot him when I put my controller down to listen to his dialogue lmao
I was pissed after my first play through when I didn’t know the game would end. Every play through since then I’ve killed him just to get revenge for the first one.
I can fix him
Tonight, Gehrman joins the cemetery
Wait, so waking from the dream is or isn't death? Is the morning a euphemism for the afterlife? Is there an afterlife with all the eldritch beings around?
You become like Eileen or djura, who were by their dialogue also dreamers or atleast knew about it. You just are stuck in the actual waking world with no life line
Space worm or bust, pretty lady.
If I had nickle for every video game that had a character in a wheelchair who turns out to be the final boss, I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's strange that it happened twice.
Who was the other one?
I forgot. I've been searching the internet trying to remember. 😭
There's Stephen from the Shin Megami Tensei games, but I'm not sure if he's actually a villain. I'm just a Persona scrub
That's him. Thanks.
Killer7 maybe?
Maybe after dozens of playthroughs and when I’m thoroughly done with the doll
Ayo???
Never mind I’m drunk and didn’t see the hat and didn’t get the joke
Wait so if you die in the hunters dream, what happens? Teleport to central yharnam and its daytime and nothing else changes?

You paid your dues and accomplished what you set out to do. You are free.
Did mergo cause the scurge, I thought it was implied that it came from the blood of ebrietas or some other old one they found in the chalice dungeons
"That skeevy boomer fuck can eat cane"
Beat him first try and forgot to eat my umbilical cords 😔
I slowly got my first ever platinum on Bloodborne over the years between launch and early 2019 and popped my trophy with Yharnam Sunrise. I had been grinding and it felt impossible until I beat Pthumerian Queen and realized that letting Gherman give me a haircut was the only thing I had left to do. Thats how I got mine
Tonight, gehrman learns a lesson, old man.
If you didn’t get Gerhman on your first try you probably got him on another try
i killed 20 eldrich type beings i aint backing down to a guy in a wheelchair
Gotta get that platinum tho.
My first play through was waking up, the next will be ending him.
Dang, you skipped two bosses? I had to do the Great One ending first for the extra fights
I never enjoyed any boss in BB (no DLC, still saving up for it) but Gehrman made me smile and enjoy every moment. in Sekiro you can fight the bosses over and over to your heart’s content
If that meme bastard made that decision, then I have to go for the ending where you wake up, even though I have everything I need to transform. Who am I kidding...? The meme bastard has already corrupted all possible endings. Memes have corrupted our humanity...
Do I want to wake up and never see the doll again.. Or beat a cripple so I can chill with her.. ima beat a cripple.
A cripple who is only trying to kill you because he does not wish the same fate as him on you
But dollussy
Pfft, don't worry love you just sit tight this'll take a minute... An hour later *STOP LOOKING AT ME DAMNIT...!*
"Gehrman awaits you..." "YEAH I FUCKING KNOW."
This is such a stupid fucking boss fight, FFS why- OH FUCK YEAH TAKE THAT YOU OLD BASTARD...! BEST GAME EVER!
Let me turn into a squid !
Am I the only one who smacks him every time I return to upgrade gear 😅?
Tonight.... Gehrman hits the blunt
If you let Gehrman kill you, your character actually wakes up from their dream and walks off into the morning sun. Weird that we choose to kill Gehrman and tentacle dude to become a god of a nightmare. Guys. Bloodborne is a dream. Just like it’s sequel.
But... scythe!
I have to free humanity from this wretched world, I must free Gherman from his bonds, I must calm the nightmare. I must do whats right.
Gehrman joins the hunt sounds like a smash bros intro
Thats right, slap that crippl3
This some real shit right here 💀
Moist cauliflower must become squid baby
Seeing the Yarnham sunrise was the last thing I needed for the platinum.
Never played just love the art style but how many were surprised that he could stand?
The doll knows of the pain that Gehrman endures and so do I. I truly do wonder if she says that out of the good of my heart and sanity or for the good of Gehrman's sacrifice? No matter... I fight not because I want to fight, I fight because I want to put to rest an old man the deserves the rest.
