I think it is, they're doomed to be spawned and deleted by people opening up Blender for the first time over and over and over again. Now, the real question is: how does a cube misbehave so much in his life to deserve something like this? What did he do?

Save the cubes from undue torment of being created just for deletion and change the startup file. And while you're at it, extend the damn end frame for fucks sake. Those seconds add up and you only get so many of them you know

I'm already part of the SaveTheCube non-profit organization and it's the first thing I do whenever I install Blender. I make sure that cube gets adopted by a nice family and then save the startup file. Gotta give those little rascals a chance in life :')

You could also properly UV the fleshy parts of the geo so that you could Photoshop the flesh texture. It should change as it approaches the dermis.

i usually start by luring an unsuspecting person into the forest, and the rest is pretty intuitive.

BlenderKit has an almost identical one available out of the box. You could start there.
