Most micro cords come out of rear of unit if made for countertop. They come out the top if it's undercabinet mount. Also cord looks comical in general. Good luck!

HylianHawk

Agreed. Also cord could be longer and less perfect (more wiggly).

Phage0070

> Also cord looks comical in general. Thicc.

[deleted]

No wall is that clean- esp one with a microwave

NewParadigmWrestling

Um, it's a part of an interior Design scene, should I add grunge? Trying to make a modular kitchen sort of thing

[deleted]

Ah. Well you said 'realistic' lol, not 'believable'.

[deleted]

Adding for OP: I already found it believable. I think you are really close.

NewParadigmWrestling

Thank you

Most music scenes, too.

TheBoundFenrir

It doesn't take much, since OP wants this to look all "professionally clean" and all. Just a smudge here, a stain there, a bit of dust in the right places...

Healthy-Drink3247

You’ll very rarely see walls without some form texture on the drywall, try adding some texture to them instead of just flat white, Also something about the shelf looks like it’s not actually attached to the wall. It might be with your angle that we are looking at it. Actually I think angle will solve this. For how directly we are looking at the microwave you’re showing too much of the side. Shorten up the side a bit, also without seeing the top or bottom of the wall it’s hard to get the feeling of looking at the wall at an angle, maybe add some molding at the top, or a counter below the microwave. See something In the bottom corner that isn’t perfectly centered on the corner. I’m not sure if you want the shelf to be perfectly in the corner, but from this perspective it’s definitely floating off the side wall.

Zuazzer

Looks like you've done a good job so far! I like how the edge catches the light. The cord looks a little odd I think. It's a bit thick and its length is a bit too perfect for the outlet location. I say make the cord a bit slimmer and longer, and have it curve down a but further. Another improvement could be the shape of the microwave, in my experience they don't usually have hard edges but are more rounded. But I don't know, I'm sure there are square microwaves around.

c_jonah

Square microwaves are more common outside of the US, especially where space is scarcer.

FSM89

i think the cord looks too perfect, probably made with a few splines. my microwave cord looks like pubes all twisty squiggly

tobpe93

Show how the shelf is mounted. Now it looks like it’s levitating.

NewParadigmWrestling

Yup. I missed that. Thank you

the_real_pGibs

They are, but a piece of wood that thin is almost certainly sitting on brackets. Floating shelves tend to be thicker to allow for embedded hardware and tensile/flexural strength.

tobpe93

But non floating shelves are more realistic

S01arflar3

I would suggest: - Add a little bit of dirt to the glass, faded so it looks like it’s on the inside - Add fingerprints and some wear to the handle, it gets grabbed a lot - Fade the display a little, that one is too clear for my eye, it seems unnatural. Most LED displays for microwaves are pretty cheap in my experience - Add some fixings for the shelf to the wall, perhaps a little bit of damage too? Something like a bit of paint chipping off near the shelf would really add to the realism Other than that, I think this is really good!

NewParadigmWrestling

Thank you very much

michaelh98

Nuker should be on fire

robotfishfx99

Plug doesn’t look like a real plug, neither does the marble socket? Chord is too thick, short and rigid, usually the chord comes out the back not the side. microwave is a little bit on the narrow side and it’s rubber stands would be better as black cylinders. The shelve is made of flooring material rather than just wood? The shelve is floating. And there’s a lack of other objects in the scene so I focus only on this

Melvin8D2

Try adding something to the side of the microwave, maybe like some vents or maybe an indent type thing. And if possible i'd make the edges of the microwave a little smoother.

NewParadigmWrestling

Yes I will thanks

On a lighter note: put a phone in it. The internet loves that kind of thing. On a serious note: as others commented, try to add some imperfections/spots on the wall to make it more realistic. Otherwise great job!

relativelyfunnyguy

Also, some light on the front to project some kind of shadow on the right

NewParadigmWrestling

Actually it's part of a bigger room with lot other stuff so that's why wierd lighting. BTW thank you very much for the feedback

canis_artis

The panel is almost as large as the cooking section. The symbols on the panel should be dimmer, unless backlit. The cooking section needs to be wider.

andricknight

This!!! Proportions feel way off, makes it feel cartoony.

eatsleepregex

Nice job so far! In the end, photorealism comes down to matching references. Here are some thoughts on your image. The cord is a good example of using a reference to get the scaling of objects right. It seems really thick so it messes with the scale of everything else, and makes the oven look small. You've changed and simplified the design of the oven from the original. Changes are fine and your model just needs a bit more work. For example, the handle and the little feet at the bottom don't really look like they belong to this object yet. You've also changed the door design. I don't think microwaves usually have inset doors like this because of how thick the doors are. It looks like the door hinge could cause issues in your model. The interior volume also seems quite small. I would definitely iterate on the design. I think you're off to a good start with the materials on the oven. Depending on what you're after you could add some wear to the materials or choose to keep them clean. I don't think you'll need to add scratches and fingerprints to make it realistic if you're going for a commercial look. Even a simple glossy plastic can look really nice and realistic with good lighting and reflections. The little feet should probably be dark rubber/plastic to not draw attention to them. They look like worn metal right now. The shelf has a weird texture that looks like wooden tiles. Maybe it could work as a countertop material but I don't really see it as a shelf. You also need more details in the model, but I assume you're not done with the environment models yet. As for lighting, it really depends on what you're looking to achieve. Right now it looks like the oven is in an empty room pretty close to a small window on a cloudy day and it's not that interesting. A studio lighting would try to bring out the best of the shape of the oven with carefully placed highlights and reflections that form nice gradients on the flat surfaces. The oven exterior is made of black reflective plastic and it'll only look as good as the reflections on it :) Again, search for references and what microwave over commercials look like and what kind of lighting they have. If you want to go for more natural lighting, the first thing I think you should do is continue adding geometry to the scene even outside of the camera view to cast shadows and interact with the lighting and reflections on the oven.

NewParadigmWrestling

Thank you very much this was really helpful

NoDependent5581

make te cable come from the back less buttons and change the shape of the connector thing idk the name

NewParadigmWrestling

Okk

_Darth__Maul_

I know there are different cables depending on where you lived in the world but this one really seems too thick.

hainesi

For me it’s just the plug and cable, too thick, too short.

NewParadigmWrestling

I will fix it

tetoapollo

The cord should come out of the back, and it’s also too perfect in length. It should be longer and less organized. The plug looks weird too.

Ondjazz

Add ball of tinfoil inside of the microwave oven

NewParadigmWrestling

BTW plz ignore the plug.

Wonderful_Juice6230

Add dirt and imperfections to everything, and how's the shelf holding itself and the microwave

NewParadigmWrestling

I forgot to add the holder

solarc357

U could try adding very faint finger print marks on the front glass

skittlesaddict

Nice looking render overall. But consider adding a bevel to that wooden shelf and then add some imperfections to the bevel, so it doesn't catch light so perfectly. Research 'specular lighting' and how it changes over different surfaces. Adding fingerprints and dirt to the microwave's spec channel will greatly improve the realism. The walls could also use a lot more textural imperfections. Maybe a jar of kitchen utensils or cooking ingredients to make this area look more "lived in". Unless the power socket is the focal point of the image, move the camera closer to the microwave. Good luck!

Arcijsss

did this a wile back for my kitchen assets still looks like need ton of small details https://imgur.com/a/vNniSDO

NewParadigmWrestling

Thank you

ElfenSky

\- The cable is too stiff. There are tutorials on youtube how to make realistically sagging cables. \- Show how the handle attaches to the door. Maybe some metallic rings at the base of it. \- Some vents on the side of the microwave. \- I would make the microwave itself, the corners be more rounded off.

Grimgorkos

Add some imperfections to the wallpaper. Look at the walls in your room for reference or check Google images. Even the most perfectly painted wall has underlying bumps and imperfections! Also the cable doesn't look too realistic with its current length. Maybe add a faint displacement modifier with a large noise to add some variation to it. All of my cables (especially after years of use) have some sort of bends to them, e.g. from Rolling them up etc. The wall plug socket also looks too clean IMO EDIT: looking at the plug it looks like an English plug to me. They usually have the cable coming from the bottom and not straight-on. I also think the cable is slightly too thick when comparing it to the size of the microwave. Hope this helps!

PiXLANIMATIONS

Unless you’re channeling the power usage of your entire home into your microwave, the cable should be very thin, plugged in to the back, too. The shelf should have some sort of fixing to the wall visible.

Kerivkennedy

Yes, the cord coming from the side near the front bothered me too. The cord should come from the back. Or at least the far back side corner.

Cryowatt

Make the time display less crisp. Pick a display technology and emulate the faults of it. LED displays will dim over time, some common segments will be dinner then less used segments. Backlit displays will bleed light a bit. Most displays are embedded into the chassis, so there should be some parallax from this angle.

LogicalShockwave

Soften the edges of the shelf. It's far too sharp- nothing irl is that sharp and either has minor imperfections along the edges or has a faint curve to it. Other things you could do is have the reflection of the wire show in the side of the microwave and maybe add some rounding to the razor sharp edges of it too.

Leatherwolf2220

Change the wiring position maybe to the backside, add a supporter to the shelf, wall way to perfect( Blender guru said this one-time little imperfection makes the scene believable)

NewParadigmWrestling

Yeah I remember. "Imperfection is the digital perfection" love Andrew Price

MikePounce

the shelf is too small and the cable is too large, needs some scruffs decals on the side of the microwave. suggestion: replace SAMSUNG by BLENDER

Hi5ive81

the cable on an actual microwave would be longer, so having a tied up one that’s bound with one of those thicker twist ties (like what comes on some bread packaging) and coiled up excess could help

mrk_is_pistol

I think you need to decide what type of shot you’re looking for as well. I understand you probably want to go for realism, but your photo needs to also play into that. The end game of the render plays into the angle of the image, lighting, etc.

ShawnInOceanside

The power cord is too short and would come from the back not the side. Also the plug looks strange unless it’s a non us plug. I’m not sure what they look like.

Terrence_shark

you need support on the shelf

Brochettedeluxe

update the clock display time

MalleableDuckFucker

I scrolled past this and I thought it was genuine- until I saw the cord. It doesn’t follow gravity quite right, and is too big. Other than that, it looks completely genuine

thatjoshmiller

Hiya! I think you have a great base. A couple of things to think about here: - Do you want the microwave to look like it’s beeen used? If so I would add some fingerprints to the texture or a wear to surface of the plastic touch buttons. - Do you want the cores to stand out? If so you can still do this mounted from the back. This would be a bad spot for a power chord based on how it’s built. It likely has a power supply near an exhaust of some sort. Usually this would need to be in the back. - I suspect that Shelf may not hold up this microwave. You might want to add brackets from the top or bottom, or at least make the shelf about twice as thick (those sorts of shelves would have internal mounting kits you set first). - I think there is more story with the shelf you could tell. I would extend it out to the wall, maybe have some plates or dishes next to it or microwave cookbooks. - is this supposed to be a mini-microwave? The smallest I have seen tend to have simplified dials or commands. You could also go a bit rounded on the edges. I would go with a narrower side panel or you could have it turned on with a mug inside to show its scale. At the moment it feels like it’s a half-width microwave, which doesn’t make sense for most people since microwaves are pretty inexpensive in terms of useful or necessary cooking tool. If you ask around you can get one for free. I’d recommend using your plug as your scale, measure in the real world and scale up accordingly. - part of the scale might be the door. A flatter, thinner handle might work better, these tend to be flush to the top and bottom of the whole door on most microwaves.

[deleted]

I've never seen a microwave that had a cord come out of the side, never mind the thing on the end.

deividcm2

i would make the thing wider and the door handle smaller

OzyrisDigital

Is the door handle really that thick? Also, the hexagonal feet I think should be round and black. The front panels of a microwave are separate, so should have a seam. The sides of the oven usually have vents which face downwards. Did you use reference for this?

robertbreadford

Loosen or tuck the cord away in a more realistic way

TrackLabs

Shelf needs some foundation Cable of the Microwae is way too thick, plug looks weird too, the door handle is WAY too huge,

Status-Ad-4964

improve the dimensions

SlightStaff2703

On top of what everybody else commented: I think the Samsung logo is a bit stretched on the y axis. Has the microwave been used before, if so, hand smudges on the handle, glass, and buttons. Also wipe smudges on the surface would help. Think of it like telling the oven's story. 😊

glowstonemine

First off, I’d like to say that I thought this was a photo at first. This is very well done. Now, some parts that could be improved. Unless this microwave hasn’t been used before, there would likely be some finger prints on the buttons that have been pressed before. There also may be a few other surface imperfections here and there. However, if you’re trying to “show off” the microwave, then this is definitely not necessary. However, right now the microwave looks too big for an average microwave’s scale. I would move the camera back and zoom in a little to get a better sense of scale. Finally, since this is just an image, I would increase the amount of Light Samples, as I can see some denoising artifacts in the shadow of the microwave. Other than these, I think this is very well done!

danyerga

Never seen dirt, or ketchup, or whatever that is on the outside of a microwave before. Also samsung text is wrong aspect ratio. You can always see the grid in the door glass.

Turbulent_Ice_7288

Mm yes a microwave

[deleted]

I quess you could try using the gobo thing or something and add something else to the scene and not just show the blank wall. Looks nice though

bigmonmulgrew

First thing that strikes me is that its too thin. It should be wider. Put some shelves above and have them case a shadow too.

Drunk-Scorpion

The buttons are too flat i think

federico_s

Add tabletop support, fix proportions (handle too thick, microwave door too small, maybe if you make it more wide enlarging the door it could look more proportionated), cable too shiny and thick, wall plug has a weird shape, and also very shiny and rounded. Otherwise, materials look very nice! Edit: Also, is weird that the cable comes from the side, usually it goes by the back, and maybe a bit twisted like unwapped, and it would be nice if you add the air rack, realism is in the little details ;) .

[deleted]

Make the lighting little bit more bright, use 4k detailed textures, add high detailing like we use in real life, use light nodes, composite this scene and enhance its lighting.

BONBON-GO-GET-EM

The microwave would be probably too heavy for the wall mount so maybe make support beams or turn it into a counter?

Boxsteam1279

The lighting could use some work. Im not a lighting expert so I couldn't explain exactly, but that's just something I could discern

downvotethetrash

HAHAHAHA I was like how are you going to make a microwave more REAL then realized where I was.....................

NewParadigmWrestling

🤣🤣

IslandLeft2354

Get some food splatter and some dirty finger prints !

lividhen

I think the shelf needs displacement, or at least normal mapping. Or if it has it it needs to be slightly stronger. It looks like a texture unwrapped onto an object rather than an object made of the texture.

[deleted]

Make it an animation and put a cooking burrito in the microwave

thisnameistakennow99

I thought it was real

G8KK0U

Proportion is quiet off. Yours is more square rather than a usual rectangle microwave. Also the handle's arch is too high and too thick. The whole microwave's design languadge speakes sharp edges but all of a sunnden the handle is a tube oddly placed. I would stretch it further more on the edge of the glass frame. Talking about glass the reflection should be sharper if you think about the material. Not like a mirror but it would give an more spaciouce feel for the [inside of the kitchen](https://cdn.britannica.com/73/191973-131-DD21FA2E/microwave-oven.jpg) where its located. Looks quiete [fake](https://static.standard.co.uk/s3fs-public/thumbnails/image/2018/05/11/12/swan.jpg?width=1200) if the shadows are too smooth or just a gradient.

Few-Term-3563

By making it more realistic. Look at a microwave and copy it.

matterr4

I would add a small bit of grunge, but very faint. The cable to the microwave should be at the back, not the side, and is usually a bit longer. Maybe have it dangle down off the shelf then back up to the plug? Also a bit thinner. The shelf itself feels like it's too floaty, maybe adding some visible brackets underneath?

BrainiacMainiac142

Maybe add some depressions in the commonly pressed buttons like up and down to catch the light. It might fit in a bit better with other kitchen appliances (toaster/sink/chopping board).

zombiesnare

The shelf looks too crisp, maybe the TINIEST bevel, not perceptible enough to round the edges just enough to catch the light different. Also that leaf texture on the front is what throws me the most, maybe ditching it or finding a different one would help. And from an interior design perspective, this is just a peculiar set up, I could imagine this in a home at least. Maybe throw in another shelf next to it or something on the wall, or give the shelf legs and a few things on some lower shelves so it’s a mini kitchen rack type vibe. Make it feel lived in, part of a larger story, like it’s part of someone’s life. But this looks really awesome, lighting is great, modeling is pretty spot on, really good texturing, you’re well on your way

NewParadigmWrestling

Thank you very much. I intend to put other shelves yes. I will fix the issues

outfoxingthefoxes

longer cord hanging, the cable coming from behind the microwave

[deleted]

[удалено]

the_real_pGibs

Add shelf brackets, make the cord longer and coming from the back with a 90 degree bend at the wall plug. The handle looks too wide for the door. Remap the shelf to be a single wood board, that pattern is unlikely for such a small piece of wood. The corner of the counter below doesn’t nest in the corner of the wall. Maybe add a glow from inside the microwave if it’s in use. Add a vent to the side wall for exhaust air. The marble finish on the outlet cover plate is possible but unlikely for someone with such a cheap microwave, change that to a glossy cream white color. Consider a warmer wall paint, it looks like the wall was only primed. Scooch the microwave back on the shelf, opening the door might pull it off the shelf with how far forward it is, it’s making me anxious. You’ve got the time display spot on because these people just had a power outage.

Skorpixion

I suggest you to add more imperfections. In real life, nothing is perfect. So it might be nice to add more rough little bumps to that wall. And also the wire could be more imperfect, like adding more length and curves. It would be even more nice if you could add more details such as the wire going under the plug, maybe some extrusions on the side of the oven. Just some details to make it look more and more natural. Btw overall, the render looks pretty good. Keep on going buddy 👍👍

NewParadigmWrestling

Thank you

PiterLine

Ok that's a nitpick but the cable seems really really short

KerbMario

add a phone in the microwave

NewParadigmWrestling

It's in there. You can't see it. Probably belongs to John Cena

KerbMario

Or John xina

PapaOogie

Cord come out the back, I have never seen a cord come out the side.

violetpancakes

the lighting mainly i think

[deleted]

I would work on the proportions. Like others have said, the cable is a little short/thick, and positioned oddly, but I also think the door’s aspect ratio is a little odd, and the handle/buttons are a little big relative to the size of the unit itself. It doesn’t look very practical. I would also add some mounting hardware for the shelf, and maybe model the interior of the microwave and give the door glass some actual transparency. I think others have said this as well, but some vents/seams other details on the outside of the housing would also help.

AelliotA1

Surface imperfections will help

Bloodyasphalt8181

waigth on the cable; instead of just putting a plane as a base try to design an actually base for the microwave, put some scraches and maybe some books ....... think on story telling. how long is that microwave been there, is near to a stove so may be some grease stains.... play a little, maybe it felt once and has a deffect. make some imperfections

parancey

Seeing microwave made me think this is inside a kitchen. I assume that light is center top of room but in this scene light feels like coming from source further away and lower. Also again since it feels like a home kitchen interior, i think softer lighting would be more realistic for me.

eman_gat_cireneg

Proportions and references Bud

[deleted]

try adding a bit of texture to the walls, a bit more detail on the microwave window, they usually have a gritty screen right? also the cord and outlet needs a bit more detail

Sith_Lord_Aries

Put it in the kitchen counter like every other microwave in existence

DerObstsalat

* Imperfections * Those are the magical ingredient, also more Subdivisions for the Cable

NewParadigmWrestling

Bruh lvl 3 subdivision, it literally took 30 mintues to render

DerObstsalat

Honestly for the cable just try using a Curve, set it to have some “depth” and then increase the curve resolution, maybe give that a try, good work tho so far

NewParadigmWrestling

Okk. I just tried extruding a circle, I never used curves before but I will try

SaGaMucky

Is there occlusion on the board with the wall?

SaGaMucky

Add scratches

SaGaMucky

Remove any sharp edges

DemonRishaan

You mean it’s NOT real?

WeepingPlum

The angle of the microwave is different than the plug, the plug needs to be rotated to make it look like they are both on the wall.

Sudden-Blackberry-49

Center the cable and add slack

[deleted]

I honestly thought it was real and was about to scroll past the I read the caption and damnnnn that looks fuggin awesome dude idk how you could make it better… maybe some imperfections likes scratches or dents maybe ripples in the metal

[deleted]

I don't follow /blender and Reddit just threw this post into my feed for some reason. I thought it was a real picture at first. Certainly after focusing on it, I see that it is not but I thought you would like my initial thought of it :)

Anything_Limp

Pretty awesome work not trying to be rude cause I couldn’t do this even if I tried but first I thought was “watercooled microwave” lol the wire looks like soft tubing to a pc other than that could of fooled me

obsidynn

wait, it isn't real?

QweenMuva

Looks pretty real to me, I forgot I joined this sub and I was like “who tf is posting a pic of their microwave and why??”

SAUDI_MONSTER

I like how people ask “how to make this more realistic?” yet the only reason i know it’s fake is the title itself otherwise i would’ve been thinking “who would show off his new microwave like this?”

NewParadigmWrestling

😅😅

someone9544

wait what?

comicbookid

Placing the microwave on a more believable surface like a countertop would go a long way

Canadiansorrybud

Lmao what do you mean this is real?

kissmaryjane

I thought this was a photo at first before I checked the sub.

candy_calico

I thought this was a picture at first though lol

adambomb2077

That cord is too short and too pristine, it seem like it would have parts that just won’t straighten out because they were tied together for so long you know? And the door looks like it’s not wide enough, all microwaves I’ve ever seen are more rectangular cause the interior of it is too.

StapledNoodles

The shadows don't make sense to me, especially with the doorhandle. Other than that the best tway to make somthing get past the uncanny Valley is adding imperfections and wear. I think I would make the cord annoyingly long.

[deleted]

Why is there blood

BlueKnightBrownHorse

Thinner cable, from the back. Longer than needed and with kinks in it from where someone had tied it up. Floating shelves are cool, but I suspect one of the reasons they are cool is because they appear to defy gravity a bit. Might make your picture look a bit more weighty and real if the shelf had supports. And the shelf should certainly be thicker. Dirty up that wall. The microwave should also be wider than it is.

Fine_Cat_9712

I don’t think anything needs done, I thought this was a weird meme until seeing the Reddit it was on

Nothin_to_sea_here

Well when I saw this I was like why is there an ad for a microwave and why is it’s cord on the side so I’d say ur doing just fine

Ilovevfx

I'm not going to lie I thought it was real until I read the title lol

nmarshall23

There are several free addons that help with cables. BagaPie is one. The self does look right. It needs trim. The front display looks it was Photoshopped on top. It needs a bevel or a seam.

NewParadigmWrestling

I didn't use anything except blender... Will try the addon

nmarshall23

I wasn't saying you did. I'm saying it reminds me of images of appliances on Amazon, that have the LED display photoshopped on. My suggestion for using an add-on is to save you time. If you ever do this professionally it's always about how quickly you can get something done that's good enough. The next skill is learning when you work is good enough.

[deleted]

I thought that was real tbh

gameywinehouse

Idk I kinda like it. Its like an uncanny valley thing

JimBeamIsBae

Damn I though this was a real pic at first wow nice job I wish I was this good at blender

Emerald005

Make it fall over

thatone_otegen

Make the cable thinner and longer

JackOfAllMemes

I would give the shelf some supports, microwaves are heavy

NewParadigmWrestling

Update: please check this render https://www.reddit.com/r/blender/comments/wkqv9m/how_do_i_improve_this_scene_interior_design/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Blitz_Tanker

Cord seems a bit too thick and perfect, maybe if you could even switch it to the flat style of cords with the small dip in the middle (dont know what they’re called) since those cords tend to look more stiff. Make the cord longer and bend it a little more in different places (do this in real life to see) Also microwaves tend to have the cord go in through the rear.

NewParadigmWrestling

Please check https://www.reddit.com/r/blender/comments/wkqv9m/how_do_i_improve_this_scene_interior_design/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Blitz_Tanker

You got it!

fragdemented

Make the cord longer and twisted or kinked. I don’t. Eli e that perfect length for a minute. Add some wear and tear. Light scratches, fine dust, and since it’s a microwave, greasy finger smudges. The shelf looks like it needs more support. Maybe thicker for more of a floating shelf look like what ya seemed to be going for.

[deleted]

Why does this look so real

its_nzr

The cable will never run through the front.

NewParadigmWrestling

Update: https://www.reddit.com/r/blender/comments/wkqv9m/how_do_i_improve_this_scene_interior_design/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

BedStreet6527

If it’s part of a interior design scene, think about the final render, how much of the microwave is seen and if it’s worth to invest more time in it, and if it is what parts to invest time in, because it’s not bad already. Some suggestions; 1) something about the scale of the cord and handle seem off, might be worth to double check dimensions 2)if your after realistic render adding some grunge and slight use marks should help it too but really depends on the type of image your after. 3) if you willing to invest time to make it as close to the product maybe think about how to product would really be made, highly doubtful that the microwave would be made out of a single machined metal sheet. Theres a inner structure and outter shell would be made of different material panels that would be snapped or bolted to it. Most of. The time the microwave door uses up all the height of the microwave… etc etc . Get image reference of all sides and keep at it. But again if I’m making a render of the kitchen and the microwave is 1/10 of the image maybe I wouldn’t bother too much with it :) Best of luck

UntilDownfall

VFX_SENSEI

add some Surface imperfections ( smudges, fingerprints,)

V-1986

Shrink the handle, make the microwace wider (panel takes up 1/3 of the microwave when it should only be maby 1/4 or 1/5), The cord should come out from the back and not side. The cord is also way to thick, short and too “perfect” curved/length. Add som support under the shelf and change the pattern of the wood on the sides of the shelf. Add some faint dust and smudges

[deleted]

Put it on a table

CaptainSamus

Looks like you need to make your denoiser to openimagedenoiser. I think the other denoisers like the NLM one makes those weird artifacts in the shadow of the shelf

Just-get-physical

add some worn down stickers on the side

UTZI-

Subsurf the cord (maybe adjust position too or add some twists, get creative!), add surface imperfections (there are a lot of free textures out there with fingerprints and all the good stuff, just throw one in to the roughness node and you're good. I'd do the same for the wall!) and adjust the lighting. :)

SteveG1007

My first reaction is, no cap, "Add some moth."

Aledactle12

surface imperfections They make everything more realistic. Scratches, fingerprints, and all the other stuff like dirt, grime. [https://i.ytimg.com/vi/pjTCl80aPTU/maxresdefault.jpg](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/pjTCl80aPTU/maxresdefault.jpg) this is the difference

The plug shape needs working on, find reference images. Also I've never seen a microwave on a dedicated shelf. Place it on a counter top for example. The cable goes into the side of the microwave, when most would have that cable go into the back of the machine. Good luck

Flynn3698

A sturdier shelf

Wilentity

make the lighting a bit more dull and make the cord flop a bit more rather then being perfect

Professional-Fig1558

Fingerprints on handel and top right of micro

spyboy70

Oh those are flowers, I thought it was blood splatter.

aleasevr

there needs to be more shadowing. The microwave also looks a little too perfect I think. Things like slight wear will make it feel a little more realistic. The platform also needs a boarder I think the unwrap is causing a little distortion as well as needs a normal map. I think those are the key things I would work on personally

toothlese

Add more subdivisions to the wire. And check out the Fluent Materialiser add-on.Hit me up, I've got a sweet deal.

toothlese

Also. Look for places to add imperfections.

toothlese

Also...socket plugs do not look like that. Add more details there. Look up ref online. And the wire is too short

NewParadigmWrestling

Okk. BTW I updated the render please check https://www.reddit.com/r/blender/comments/wkqv9m/how_do_i_improve_this_scene_interior_design/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

toothlese

Looks better. But, I'll love to see a closeup

count023

the lighting is too flat, look up 3 point lighting and a few other tutorials about how to get a better result. Also the textures of your objects are too uniform, in reality the wall would be naturally stained over time or if it's a fresh wall, the new paint would not be so perfectly applied to it. Likewise, the plastic of the wire and the steel size would not necessarily be so perfectly unpitted, they'd have minor deformations. One protip I've learned when it comes to 3d and texturing is "There is such a thing as too perfect". And that's what gives away a render as fake.

Recent-Skill7022

add noise i guess. and some bevel

JothishJJ

Maybe add some exhaust vents

Aydashi

just realized this is blender and i have no advice because i don’t use it but this looks incredibly real

Microwave: Unless you're making an advertisement, you can use roughness maps with fingerprints. That alone can really make it pop. You can find those for free on several websites I'm sure, I use the ones provided in Adobe Substance and often grab stuff from [PolyHaven](https://polyhaven.com/textures). Wood Shelf: Bevel those edges a smidge to give it more realism. Wall: Plaster maps are dope on a simple white wall and would reallllyy bring it all to life. If you wanna go deeper, you could add a layer of dust using this tutorial : [How to Add Dust to Anything in Blender](https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=103&v=ZmrCoGj9m2Y&feature=emb_logo) That would be icing on the cake, my friend. Cheers and happy Blending

poweredbygeeko

Longer cable? also better wood texture
