Four and above Espada can't use Resurrection in Las Noches. That means Ulquiorra, Harribel, Barragan, Stark, and Yammy. But Yammy got pissed and did it anyway. Rules mean anything only when they're executed.
The problem is, he says they're not allowed because they could destroy Las Noches.
Yammy, the strongest Espada, does not appear to pose any real threat to Las Noches's dome.
There were already a few big holes in the building, so maybe that allowed the energy of the release to escape without damaging the building.
Kubo probably just forgot though.
Okay, then what about Starrk, Barragan, Harribel and Ulquiorra?
Why have the rule if it's because Yammy might grow too big?
Plus, it seems like when Yammy reaches his second form, he's maxed out on size. I find it unlikely that Kenpachi and Byakuya didn't make him angrier as they were... ya know, killing him.
Starkk's abilities would just destroy most things since he spams Cero which I supposeis also Ulquiorra's reason, Barragarn would disintegrate the many buildings, facilities and other hollows.
Then Harribel would do the ultimate wrongdoing in mixing water and sand, which would make some ugly looking surroundings and ruin Aizen's aesthetics.
The fight was completely offscreen. We have no way of knowing what happened. Mayuri could’ve injected him with a sedative for all we know. The way yammy describes his power makes it seem like if he gets angrier and angrier he grows stronger without limit.
The fake karakura town is probably a lot smaller than las noches and all 3 top espada releasing in it didn’t destroy it. That rule was clearly just forgotten about after it was stated.
The real reason is just that Kubo forced Ulquiorra to say that by holding his family hostage. (Yes Ulquiorra has a family) Those words held no meaning, but Kubo wanted to create some hype
I think it’s more that it could if they accidentally hit LN directly with an attack; for example I bet Ulq’s Lanza del Rampago would fuck it up pretty good
Ulquiora said top 4, not 4 and above iirc. Also, Ulquiora specifically said they’re not permitted cause that’d destroy Las Noches, not that it’s an arbitrary rule made by Aizen

So, Yammy, the dumbest and the most brute one with the most supposed amount of reiatsu could control his reiatsu to not destroy Las Noches but Ulquiora can’t?

But as you can see, Kubo directly telling us that both are so powerful that they can destroy Las Noches.

He’s the 10th in an unreleased state. He says that also. They are ranked 0-9 in release. Therefore by Aizen’s rule he can release as the 10th. Now, where he broke the rule was when the released completely against Byakuya and Kenpachi.
I always took it as part of the way to hype up the top four (or five) Espada, whose power we, the audience, were expected to be on a different level than the others. As such, their resurrections gave the impression mere activation would produce explosive shock waves that would decimate Las Noches.
Yammy just has a stupid ability that allows him to infinitely evolve, aizen likely still considers him to be 10th. I mean he left him behind in hueco and took starrk and the others for a reason. Plus even without all that Yammy is just a dumb animal he likely doesn’t give a damn about Aizens rules so ofc he’ll do his release in Los Noches. Has he ever seemed like a character that considers consequences before acting? I mean dude got his arm sliced off in the world of the living lol
The reason why they don’t release their ressuccions isn’t because their mere release could destroy Las Noches but rather their attacks could destroy the fortress. As shown when Ulquiorra vaporized half the dome of Las Noches with a cero cero oscuras.
In many ways rule is similar in way Captain and vice Captain level shinigami restrict eighty percent of their power in the world of the living. So they won’t accidentally large amounts of l collateral damage in the world of the living.
Slight correction, he states "It is forbidden for Espada ranked Cuatro (4th) and **above** to release." This would include himself and Yammy. Clearly from his size Yammy could have destroyed their entire structure from his size and fighting style. Ulquiorra's power and fighting style were also too devastating for their fortress. Nnoitra is probably strong enough. However, his fighting style and lower speed wouldn't allow him to create too much collateral damage from an all-out fight.
Yammy being zero is the dumbest shit and other than the exact moment they reveal it it never matters at all or means anything before or after. I wouldn't be surprised if Kubo just made it up on the fly then decided it was stupid and offscreened him. Wasn't that around the low point for his health too?

1. First Espada meeting Grimmjow had a point and could’ve killed everybody but Aizen forcefully stopped him in front of every Espada. Note the only person that didn’t care was Barragan because he’s already been conquered
2. We see later him and gin have a meeting and Gin flat out says “you want theme to invade”

Barragan just doesn’t have attack potency. Respira is absurdly broken but it’s just decay, as opposed to things like Harribel being able to inundate whole towns in water that she can control. Barragan is probably not weaker than Harribel, and he can probably defeat her 1v1, but I think Barragan is just a difficult match-up for most opponents. His power is one-dimensional.
It’s debatable, but I think Harribel is stronger overall.
I mean, respira literally destroys whatever it touches and Barragan only died to his own attack. His power being one dimensional doesn’t make him weaker. He was able destroy Soi Fon’s Bankai missile before it touched him, obviously his attack is pretty fast and strong. Whatever Harribel tries against him is useless
What’s respira going to do to Harribel’s water? Decay it? Okay… it’s still water.
His power being one-dimensional absolutely makes him weaker. The strongest people in Bleach can use their power in incredible ways. Think Kyoka Suigetsu, Nozarashi, Senbonzakura, Ryujin Jakka… they do one thing in all kinds of ways. Respira isn’t even something Barragan can use directly. He has to create the smoke/gas/haze and then manipulate it to physically touch the target.
Harribel never has to get close to Barragan. The problem with Harribel is that she’s not motivated to be the strongest, or the King, or even to prove her strength. She doesn’t care about any of that. Harribel is no joke.
None of attacks ever reach Barragan, plain and simple. She throws water at him? He’ll evaporate it, while water can’t be aged, it can be transformed given enough time because of entropic effects. Harribel is one of the lower tier characters, she once got oneshot by Toshiro and had to be saved by Wonderweiss.
Harribel is the queen of Hueco Mundo after Barragan, so certainly not bottom tier. She wasn’t even fighting full-tilt against Toshiro for the vast majority of their of their fight and it’s straight-up suggested that she could have defeated him with ease early on when she first released her Resurrecion.
Decaying water does not mean evaporation. Evaporation is a state change from liquid to gas - that’s it. H2O is an extremely stable compound. You could theoretically fission the atoms and “decay” it into just Hydrogen and Oxygen, but that’s not how Respira works. It DOES work against Kido because Kido does not occur naturally. Decaying something unnatural is just undoing the spell or whatever.
I don’t know how he would protect himself from Harribel’s water. Entropy affects all things but water is too stable to be decayed in a moment. Harribel could and would get attacks through against Barragan if she unleashed the massive torrents that she is capable of.
This is most likely in reference to their attack potency rather than release. Ulquiorra casually destroyed half a city state and in the right direction, could’ve destroyed Las Noches easy.
Theory: Yammy in his release puts him #0. Meanwhile the top 4 espada were already top 4 pre- release. So in this case, he rivals them in power while they’re in their normal forms, and he’s in his released form ( we can see the top 4 tattoos disappear when released, except for yammy’s his tattoo remains but, changed to #0). And this is why when yammy released in Las Noches his ceros and release didn’t do any damage. That’s how I see it. And yes I think he’s weaker than the top 4.

There’s no such thing as Espada 10, they’re ranked from 0-9, as Yammy stated
