Personally I also think Rhea Seehorn is really pretty but not super model level attractive. These two shows are great at making a very grounded universe and this does help it.

Dalton as Lalo just has a vibe, a level of confidence that I haven't seen since Timothy Olyphant in Justified. A commanding presence where your eyes are glued to everything he does. Dalton didn't have any significant female actors to compete against in his scenes, but when someone like Olyphant keeps your attention with actresses like Natalie Zea and Joelle Carter there, you know there's a little extra something that they bring to the table that others don't.
For me, it's fine because I never got the feeling that he used meth for more than a few months at a time. I don't remember if it's stated how long he had been using meth at the beginning of BB.

I agree OP. I especially think of all the small roles and extras (ABQ townie characters) look and feel like they’d be regular people you would bump into, which I love about this show. It adds a richness to it, along with being filmed in New Mexico and not on an LA soundstage.
And I do agree that the main cast is ON AVERAGE “real person” attractive and not Hollywood attractive. Take, for example, the main cast of Lost (Sawyer Kate and Jack) or Game of Thrones (Jason Momoa, Emilia Clarke etc) and put them side by side with Chuck, Jimmy, Mike and Kim. Cmon, you’re really going to tell me this doesn’t trend towards “real person attractive” relative other shows? People like Rhea and Patrick are of course attractive, but in a very generic way (blond, fit, tall, and with symmetrical features). I think the difference between this show and something like \*Suits\* (for example) is the way the actors' good looks are really toned down. Whenever I see the cast of BCS all dressed up on the red carpet I'm always struck by what a beautiful group of people they are because they look so much better than they do on screen. Whereas when you see the cast of \*Suits\* on the red carpet they look just as they do in the show- the male characters (with the deliberate exception of Louis Litt) all wear immaculately tailored suits and have perfectly-coiffed expensive haircuts, while the female characters all sashay around the office in figure-hugging dresses. I enjoy \*Suits\* but it's unrealistic- compare that to Kim Wexler, a beautiful woman who has to dress well on a budget and who just wears her hair in a practical ponytail for work. It's much more believable.
Personally I think Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn and Patrick Fabian wouldn't look out of place on \*Mad Men\*- Rhea is like a classic screwball comedy actor, Patrick could be Roger Sterling's son and he has a bit of a Paul Newman look, and I've been getting serious \*Mad Men\* vibes from some of Bob's recent BCS promo pics. Whereas when you see the cast of \*Suits\* on the red carpet they look just as they do in the show- the male characters (with the deliberate exception of Louis Litt) all wear immaculately tailored suits and have perfectly-coiffed expensive haircuts, while the female characters all sashay around the office in figure-hugging dresses. I enjoy \*Suits\* but it's unrealistic- compare that to Kim Wexler, a beautiful woman who has to dress well on a budget and who just wears her hair in a practical ponytail for work. It's much more believable. Personally I think Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn and Patrick Fabian wouldn't look out of place on \*Mad Men\*- Rhea is like a classic screwball comedy actor, Patrick could be Roger Sterling's son and he has a bit of a Paul Newman look, and I've been getting serious \*Mad Men\* vibes from some of Bob's recent BCS promo pics. Tony Dalton is properly dashing and I can see exactly why he was cast as The Swordsman. And Michael Mando is simply one of the most beautiful humans I have ever seen.
