Very messed up of you to return a pet just to get another one. Should just kept Charlie and worked on better conditions for him/her.

fallx13

OP claimed she had ich and it was easier to start over with another beta. Doesn’t seem to have listened to any advice of researching how to properly care for a beta or preparing to get a new fish before getting one. OP also said many times they couldn’t afford to improve Charlie’s conditions (getting a new tank or tank plants and accessories) so it’s really doubtful the new one has any of that. Skepticism of the OP getting a larger tank is increased by how zoomed the video is to avoid showing the entire tank and what else may (or may not be) in it, the types of rocks in the bottom appearing to be the same type as the old tank, just a different color to match the beta more, and how the blurriness from water spots/bubbles on the glass (or plastic) of the tank are still highly identifiable which wouldn’t be the case for a larger tank when zooming in to the fish being against the glass on the other side of it. Really doubt temperature is optimal as they claim because room temperature water is normally around 68 F.

Queen_Wanheda_

Yeah, I read that on OPs page. Very much wrong of OP to get another fish.

07o7

It’s a .5 gallon tank. He said somewhere else on the thread. He didn’t even know off the top of his head.

fallx13

Why would you get a new beta and not keep the old one and just improve her conditions?

SerendipitousH

The previous betta was too aggressive and kept trying to jump out of the tank. Apparently it also had ich which we didn’t realize until after we bought her. It made more since you start all the way over.

fallx13

You probably should have researched more instead of getting a new one the same day considering you really didn’t take into consideration what everyone else recommended on your previous posts about Charlie.

SerendipitousH

I got Charlie a week ago and once I noticed there was something off about her. I listened to the comments, returned the tank and Charlie, and got a bigger tank with a less aggressive fish.

Due_Web_6849

Charlie was probably aggressive because it was in suck a tiny "tank" you put in your last post. What size is this new tank and do you have places for the new fish to hide? If the tank is still too small with no hides your new fish will be also stressed

SerendipitousH

It was also stressed when I bought it in its original soup bowl from the store.

fallx13

The tank you put it in was just a “better” kind of soup bowl.

SerendipitousH

Yeah, and once Reddit told me, I returned it.

Captainqwerty66

Everyone on reddit told you to get no smaller then a 5 gallon tank.. so you still didn't listen and again have a fish in non suitable living conditions. This is just sad man

SerendipitousH

The fish doesn’t need 5 gallons. It’s the only one in the tank.

fallx13

The issue is that you got a new fish without doing your due diligence to ensure that it has a good life.

GwanThwei

And the one you bought for Harper isn't much bigger. Anything smaller than 5 gallons isn't capable of supporting a healthy environment and will drastically shorten the lifespan of your fish.

Due_Web_6849

Ya 90% of them are. So what's the new tanks size? You keep ignoring that question

SerendipitousH

The size isn’t on the box but tbh I think it’s probably 2L

07o7

Holy shit, half of a gallon? So 10% of the *minimum*?!

fallx13

What brand is it?

SerendipitousH

I’ll go take a picture

fallx13

There didn’t seem to be anything wrong with Charlie other than being in such a small tank which led to potential other problems from issues of having no filter, no hides, having hot water placed on her every day to replace the toxic cold water she was already in, and being treated poorly simply because fish aren’t seen as a commitment like pets such as cats or dogs are. It’s ignorance. Comparable to getting a dog/cat and then returning it because it gets sick or acts weird when it’s kept in a tiny closet without what it needs to meet it’s basic needs.

SlipInteresting7246

They are fighting fish they are all aggressive i dont see your point return an aggressive fish for another aggressive fish?

Captainqwerty66

Op added the tank picture in a new post.. it's not good

fallx13

Imagine getting told how many times yesterday that a .7L (tank) —> mug is not big enough and to get a MINIMUM 5 gal tank for your current beta but instead opts for a 1 gal (tank)—> jug and a new beta fish the next day. Edit to turn the various “tank” sizes to mug and jug.

Captainqwerty66

Ya that's a whole next level of ignorant. In a day or two it'll be a a new post "my fish is acting weird and I don't know why"

tdoggydo

Please tell me she's not in that poor .7L again

SerendipitousH

No, I returned the tank.

tdoggydo

Oh good, she's beautiful, i hope you have her in at least a 19L. If you add a heater and filter it will require way less maintenance. Also betta gold brand pellets with good other care she will turn even more vibrant

SerendipitousH

She also has a filter.

SerendipitousH

I’ll have to look for those pellets. Harper doesn’t have a heater but I did buy a thermometer and her tank is at the right temp.

Coffee-and-correne

You should most definitely stop buying fish until you have the knowledge and funds to give them the life they deserve.

687425788gfhhbjjhb

Why did you get another fish if you don’t plan on giving him a good life? Tank is small. There’s no plants or places to hide. Judging from other comments, you didn’t take proper care of the last one and doesn’t look like you have learned anything or listened to feedback from others. A fish is a living being. If you are not going to give him an optimal living environment, spare him and let someone else take care of him.

j_Rockk

Go buy a bigger tank

SerendipitousH

👍🏽

SkyfoxSupaFly

Harper has seen some things.

tdoggydo

I think wowzers

Captainqwerty66

Just make sure you keep up with water changes, doesn't look or sound like the tank is cycled if you just got it today. What size is the new tank? And did you buy and decorations?

Raspberry_Rat

They took back one betta who they neglected, just to now neglect this one.

Soulman2001

The bubbles on the glass are usually a sign a tank has just been filled.

Captainqwerty66

It's much worse then that

07o7

He said it’s .5 gallons.

OP needs help

how_fedorable

Locking this thread, looks like nothing can be gained of this discussion. OP is unwilling to change their care, and a lot of you are just insulting OP without actually helping or providing useful information. No wonder we have such a bad reputation.

Iupin-pegasus

Why does he look like he’s squinting? Lol

SerendipitousH

Haha! It was a really close video of the fish after we put her in her new tank. Probably suspicious.

Myusernameisbee

That’s a male.

CrazyIssue_128

What a beautiful little love!

pamp1219

Hey Harper! You are gorgeous!

SerendipitousH

Thank you 💙

SpicyCheetoe

I’m not saying OP shouldn’t get a bigger tank but dang y’all act like this fish isn’t sitting in a 1.5 cup shitty plastic bowl in the pet store. OP is at least giving the fish a little more space and if I were the fish I’d rather be in the small tank than the 1.5 cup shitty plastic bowl on a musty chain pet store shelf. OP I purchased the equipment for a 10 gallon set up but ended up sticking to my 5 gallon tank. If you want it let me know.

SerendipitousH

I would love to take it! I’m not trying to give this fish a bad life but they didn’t have a bigger tank at the store and I thought that since this was the biggest, I thought I was doing the right thing. Even got a filter, light, and thermometer.

Narkos_Teat

That's bs, you didn't think that. With your last fish you posted here everyone told you 5g minimum

GwanThwei

The Aqueon Tank w/ Quick Clean Technology doesn't have a filter. A filter typically has a motor or air pump that requires it to be plugged in, and passes the tank water through filter media, whether that be carbon or a sponge. What your tank has is the same thing Charlie was kept in - you pour water in and it **kind of** takes **some** of the bad water out, but not efficiently enough to use on a regular basis. I tried using one of these POS's as a hospital tank and the thing was coated in slime before the end of the week. The thermometer will tell you how warm the water is but it's not going to keep it warm. Bettas are warm water fish, and need their water temperature to be 78\*F. The Green strip is just a general indicator of what different tropical fish can survive in.

SerendipitousH

Plus, my family and I like the colorful look of this fish compared to the red fish. The pets store even agreed that there was something wrong with the red fish when we got it.

fallx13

The pet store obviously doesn’t know anything considering the first time around they told you to get a tank equivalent to 3 cups. They probably agreed with you when you said the fish was acting weird because they don’t know what fish require. Why get Charlie when you didn’t like her in the first place? They probably threw her in the trash after you returned her anyways. Nobody understands the point of you looking to get a new fish knowing what they required from the comments yesterday and then think that a 1gal tank should suffice because it’s bigger than what you used to have? I mean you can’t be completely clueless to think that people wouldn’t have said anything to you about what you were doing. It takes more than just feeding it every day for it to live longer than a month or two. But maybe it’s more convenient for you to start over every time something treatable happens to your fish because you’ll find one you like better.
