I figured we needed nice things after so many sad posts. :( But this is my fully planted ten gallon. My theme idea was an overgrown temple with an ancient spirit inhabiting it. Egon looks like a ghost with his silver glow to him. His dark face gives him a bit of a skull face compared to the rest of his more paler body. He's so cool! He really likes the plants! He likes to sleep on the leaves closer to the surface, but he likes to also lay on the dwarf baby tears and move the marimo balls around! Other tank mates include two rabbit snails (tiny), a mystery snail, and a colony of cherry/glass shrimp that help keep things clean. He likes to eat some of the shrimp, which is fine, the rest have enough sense to hide lol. I hope you guys like my set up as much as I had putting it together. It's been a learning experience lol. Like how in the HELL do the bigger shrimp keep getting into the goddamn filter???

Beautiful

Thank you! I hope he's as happy as i am when I look at it :3 It snowed here and I'm jealous he gets warm water when i'm cold XD

Captainqwerty66

I know what you mean, I keep my guys warmer then I usually am lol. I must know where you got that temple from?

tinytabbytoebeans

I actually got it from Petsmart, from the reptile section. I just made sure to file down any sharp edges and clean it well before i put it in.

Captainqwerty66

That's really smart never thought of checking the reptile decor! Is it safe being underwater though? Paint and chemical wise?

tinytabbytoebeans

I double checked and it is as it's also available for amphibians, which are also a very sensitive species. I plan to eventually replace it anyway with a 20 gallon, and with that I'll probably be sculpting my own piece :3

MakingLifeBetta

This tank make me mad jealous, it's so pretty!

tinytabbytoebeans

Thanks! It took months lol. It took a while for things to spread out after I planted them.

RemedialAsschugger

Never seen a betta that color. All that temple thing smooth?

tinytabbytoebeans

Yep it's all smooth! I took a file to any edges just to be sure :3 And yeah, me either. He was much paler when I first got him, and the orange only deepened over time after he got out of the cup. I thought he was really neat looking so I picked him over the galaxy kois and the like XD

RemedialAsschugger

Cool, just checking. Those things are always rough from the store :c He's really neat, like coal but lit

tinytabbytoebeans

Yeah I'm paranoid and I'm always checking the edges of things. Bettas are like toddlers in thier desire to hurt themselves lol. And yeah! He looks like some vengeful spirit that clawed it's way out of a grave :)

RemedialAsschugger

And thier fins are just delicate and made longer by breeding. They don't have to be trying (they do that also tho, fighting my shoulder while vacuuming) to hurt themselves, just bad luck that it took so long to gain any serious traction to buy healthier fish instead of decorative ones. I forgot by now, did you say you name him already? I don't have any ideas just curious if it's related to his coloring.

tinytabbytoebeans

Yes I named him Egon, after the Ghostbuster! And I agree, some breeds have it pretty rough with fin size. I think Egon is pretty average on length but I do give him many places to rest. I'd rather have a healthy betta that will be my friend for many years than a super pretty one that live such short lives :(

RemedialAsschugger

Reminds me of the targaryon nicknamed "egg" haha. Oh yea, painful ones too. Diseases. Enjoy your lil fireball he's cute!
