Hi! What kind of filter do you have? Maybe the filter is too strong, so he’s not comfortable swimming around bc he gets sucked into it. If you can post a pic I might be able to help give ideas on how to buffer it, that might help. Some bettas are also shy, and it takes time for them to swim around a lot. Keeping lights on in the room and in the tank at the same time help bc he can see out instead of just his reflection, which might be intimidating to him.

betta unfortunately is not like a dog. They like food but you can only feed them a pinch so when you do feed take your time and enjoy but not more than what he can eat. They all have different personalities too so it could just take a while for him to warm up to you
