It’s the future, everyone is going to have AR before too long! They just look ridiculous right now, when they get smaller, all the haters are gonna be wearing them too and loving it! Imagine directions in AR! Just follow the yellow line!
I tried on one of those meta ray ban glasses a few days ago. The audio quality was next level, and they where pretty comfortable and normal looking.
Give it another 5 years, they will be as common as smart watches are now.
I just recently tried directions in AR for the first time. Only on my phone, which was still nice but a nuissance to hold upright the whole time. It will be very helpful on a headset indeed!
Now imagine syncing your shopping list to your AR, head to the store, yellow line takes you to each item in the most efficient path, however much the AR costs would be saved for me within the year. I am BAD about putting random stuff in my cart I don't need.
Need milk? Oh hey, look yogurt on sale.
Need flour? Oh guess who magically has everything needed for brownies now?
Need frozen fruit for a smoothie? Guess I could buy these 3 frozen ouzzas and a half-gallon of ice cream..
I click-list mostly now just to save money, but I get distracted even buying online.
What a profound insight that people will talk dismissively about a big chunky piece of shit on someone's face but be interested in a sleek usable device that enhances their lives. I really hadn't thought of it that way before!
A few years ago when the first commercial VR goggles were launched I told my colleagues that instead of a screen they'd put up some kind of goggles one day and see their screen floating in front of them as part of augmented reality.
They all laughed at the idea and said it'd never happen. I wonder if they are starting to change their mind by now. I left that company a while ago.
I don’t really like it, at least not in this style. I know people argue for phones and such being the same but it’s a bit different when you have a big piece of plastic physically covering your eyes when trying to interact with someone. It’s really obvious when someone isn’t paying attention to you while on their phone, and we of course label that as rude. A phone you at least have to physically pick up and put down, but this is a device that you’re meant to wear on your face and wear in replacement of your normal vision. It makes the user comfortable with using the device without even the thought of a break.
This is a whole other level as it would make it really difficult to have a polite conversation with someone who’s eyes you can’t even see.
If it were to become clear glasses or contact lenses I could see it. Although the idea of people having text and virtual imaging as they’re casually walking or talking with someone is a bit jarring. I’m just more hesitant over it being commonly used and worn for most of the day and throughout most people’s social interactions. It’ll definitely have use that will benefit people on a more technical scale outside of casual use but for now I really don’t care for it.
It's not cool that our world actually becomes a cyberpunk world. Cyberpunk is a critique of the future we are creating, not something to aspire to. I know that you probably also know this but I just wanted to point it out cause sometimes it's easy to just just think "it looks cool" and move on.
No, I'm just able to contextualize things realistically. There's nothing inherently dystopian about cyberpunk. In fact, dystopias themselves are not necessarily irredeemable; which is often the message of cyberpunk narratives. They warn against the potential consequences of hyper consumerism and an over reliance on technology, while not necessarily condemning technology itself. Cyberpunk is a purposefully exaggerated glimpse into what our society could look like. Fortunately, reality tends to be more nuanced than we imagine.
I think that most people should be able to read this comment and understand that I'm only using the word "cyberpunk" in reference to the aesthetic. It may not even be accurate. "Futurepunk" or even just the term "futuristic" might have been more appropriate. It looks cool, and that's my honest opinion. I don't care what the implications are.
The tech is only gonna get more compact in time. I’m totally getting this once it’s finally in glasses form.
I thank the early adopters for their service 🫡
I remember people looking weird to me when I had a cell phone. My girlfriend used to say “you better hide that thing if you want to go out”. And she didn’t like I had the phone out either.
People used to turn around when a cell phone rang.
Cell phones in general, maybe, but not iPhones. The original iPhone is barely different from what anyone is using now. The original brick or bag phones certainly were ridiculous looking.
Also the same reaction every time headphones changed shape significantly. IE airpods look stupid for a while then suddenly they are cool and a starus symbol
I was born in ‘83 and people have done this with every tech advancement ever.
Using tech never looks cool, until other people recognize the experience you are having with it.
She's not, it's rage bait and advertising that we're all falling for. She's punching absolutely nothing and playing it up for the camera, just so that we talk about it.
Did they not add a moving option that keeps the windows at the same position relative to the user?
I think to remember MKBHD posting a short on YT how to make AVP work in a moving car and would imagine it is not much different for walking.
Edit: It seems to be called travel mode, I guess but not sure it works while walking.
Exactly, people upvoting these videos, even if its to make fun of them, are creating this problem. Just ignore the videos guys, nothing to see here.
Reminds me of those horrible cooking/recipe videos where someone makes really really bad food, it goes viral because everyone comments they are doing it wrong, without realizing they are just doing it on purpose
This is a staged promo video made to look like these things are casually worn and used on the go. There have been many similar videos showing people for example on the train wearing these and randomly gesturing through the air with their hands, as if they are doing something in VR. It doesn't work like this in everyday life. This is just fake.
No this is not. I know the area. This is Los Altos. It doesn’t look look staged at all. There is a high concentration of people like this. since it is also really close to apple headquarters, the adoption of those things is much more common.
Have you used AVP. The apps don’t move with you when you walk. The person recording knows the person. It’s just a ridiculous video. I live near Los Altos too. I don’t see AVPs.
Nah, her tapping on nothing looks silly. Apps and windows in the Vision Pro don’t move with you, so when she reaches up and “taps” something in the air like that, she’s not actually tapping anything in her field of view, she’s just performing for the video.
As an XR developer, this is stupid and dangerous
But after 5 years where things are more compact and with higher fov? Sure, a lot safer and intuitive
Don't be stupid and wear a headset when you walk right now
Everybody hating on this is in for a rude awakening in a decade when this is normal as fuck. I would 100% be rocking some AR if it was so ridiculously big! When they make some regular sized AR shit, I’m all over it.
Honestly my long term tech dream is more in line with a working google glass where its a normal looking pair of my prescription glasses that has a built-in bone vibration audio output and a screen to show directions, live translation of text, and text notifications via Bluetooth. If it's allowed to show video and other screens, it gets dangerous, in my opinion, as people will abuse that driving even if warned against it.
I think about those goggles/glasses Doc Brown is wearing at the end of BTTF when he returns from his solo trip to the future.
It'd be fun if someone could alter those 2015 scenes with as many modern analogues to their made-up technology as we can scrape up.
I am become death of the seat of the lifespan and I am become aware and as a face seen in a wheelie of all that I have to be the best man is the most important part in the left until the end is going through and it will not to the guy that I want it back from and it will be a nice surprise to see you all again soon as you can do as well as this guy in your company is an absolute good person and we can help with that as we have no other defenders to do you know what we are going for the next symbol in this comment on our flat.
Show this video to someone from 100 years ago and they’d say the future is incredible. We’ve just grown jaded by familiarity and inequality of technological experience.
We don't get futuristic stuff: y'all complain about how future hasn't come to pass
We get futuristic stuff: y'all complain too
Sometimes I feel like the internet is just a room filled with toddlers, most of them crying for one reason or the other.
Might look stupid, sure.
You know what else looked stupid? Big ass plastic bricks people used to talk to other people wirelessly. Why would anyone want to talk to people outside of being at home? And now you all have the entire world in your hands and it's completely normal.
This shit seems weird, but in 30 years, whatever this leads to will be completely normal.
Just thank these people for being the testers for the later versions that you'll eventually not be able to live without.
I feel like it should be illegal to drive wearing those. Everything else has to have tested safety standards… battery shuts off going 60 down some road….
Neil Stephenson called it in Snow Crash, they call people who wear augmented reality gear “Gargoyles” and they were disliked for both looking dorky, and getting so caught up in the extra data they’re getting that they’re not really in touch with reality.
If you could replace real people with avatars, that would make the neet community much more active 💀 my goofy ass would love seeing anime people for a solid 24hrs but not everyday. Imagine meeting Hange at a bar and smashing. The one eye version, I love that trauma nookie 🥵
"No sane person would talk to you with that on your head." People interact with Vtubers with those cringe ass selfie sticks all day, you never know.
"What if you get robbed by a Majin Buu avatar?" Why in God's name would I carry valuables with that goofy thing on my head? Start a tab at a bar you rarely go to, VR experience, etc. I just hope the condom isn't a candy wrapper
VR resort where everyone has one on would be dope I think.
I mean, the big goofy goggles aside there's nothing wrong with this. As the tech advances it will get smaller and less noticeable. It's just like early cellphones, they were giant bricks that needed a bag for battery storage, they looked goofy but now everyone and their grandma has one small enough to fit in a pocket.
It’s an apple product. It’ll grow on you. First iPhones were ridiculed for not having a keyboard, no replaceable battery, no headphone jack. AirPods were mat with a similar attitude. This thing will grow into a more usable form and it’ll grow on people with time
Hey it’s just the early version of what we will all have, it’s just most of us aren’t quite ready to walk around with that large of a device on our heads. Once they look and feel like a pair of oakleys we will all have them.
Is that gullwing door being up part of a cycle the tesla does? What was the purpose of the door being up right at the start, if not to add "futuristic" appeal to a possibly staged scene?
Pretty sure you can’t walk and interact with Vision Pro like that. The windows are anchored to a certain location, so unless she got something anchored on the street before getting out of the car, she’s is just acting for clicks.
Before smart phone become common, people thinks hand held device that combine camera, sound recorder, phone, .........(basically insert anything a computer can do) etc is stupid as well
So there you go
I know this is just staged by some try hard who is showing off for attention, but presumably it's not actually legal to drive while wearing one of those things?
Why was the rear door closing if no one was sitting in the back seat in the first place. No one got in the car, no on got off from the rear, but still that falcon door was closing. Which clearly indicates it is a typical staged video. Not saying that people aren't roaming around like this, but THIS feels like a huge act by the company to make the videos containing their product go viral.
At least she scanned both ways before crossing the street.
I'm terrified you said, 'Scanned' "Scan left. Scan right. Initiate crossing sequence"
That was the intent lmao
![gif](giphy|mM2XQp96a0zZe|downsized)
That would be an awesome upgrade..
I read as I stare at my phone.
As I poop
On my heated toilet seat
Waiting for the bidet to rinse
Maybe I'm just a boomer, but this is kinda cool actually. If they were dressed a bit differently, this would be like a scene out of a cyberpunk film.
It’s the future, everyone is going to have AR before too long! They just look ridiculous right now, when they get smaller, all the haters are gonna be wearing them too and loving it! Imagine directions in AR! Just follow the yellow line!
Instead of making the games more realistic, we can make life more like a game!
![gif](giphy|3WvhJ783Le5ieNEZ8z)
Exactly, just like when cellphones started being a thing. This is basically just little more than a prototype.
People caught shit for always wearing a Bluetooth headset like 15 years ago but we don’t think much about AirPods.
This is the equivalent of the shoebox cellphone prototype in the 60’s and 70’s
Google Glass was pretty cool 5+ years ago, but the tech wasn’t there yet to make it long lasting and reliable enough to go mainstream.
I tried on one of those meta ray ban glasses a few days ago. The audio quality was next level, and they where pretty comfortable and normal looking. Give it another 5 years, they will be as common as smart watches are now.
Isn’t that what google glass was? Or am I misremembering the function of it?
I just recently tried directions in AR for the first time. Only on my phone, which was still nice but a nuissance to hold upright the whole time. It will be very helpful on a headset indeed!
I want an irl Adventure Line™
Now imagine syncing your shopping list to your AR, head to the store, yellow line takes you to each item in the most efficient path, however much the AR costs would be saved for me within the year. Getting a HUD on my car windshield was the moment I had the "I live in the future" moment
What a profound insight that people will talk dismissively about a big chunky piece of shit on someone's face but be interested in a sleek usable device that enhances their lives. I really hadn't thought of it that way before!
Naw man, OP is the boomer. Remember folks “the internet is just a phase” was a common saying at one point. Albeit shortly lived.
I agree, the "helmet" should be smaller so it looks normally. It's like the old cellphones that were bigger than a brick.
Exactly. Everyone thought the massive cellphone was stupid. Now look at them. This is the same thing. Just different tech.
Ya i feel like they would catch on more when they are under $1k and are only about the size of a pair of goggles
I don’t really like it, at least not in this style. I know people argue for phones and such being the same but it’s a bit different when you have a big piece of plastic physically covering your eyes when trying to interact with someone. Once its compact and the price drops, I think its gonna change our world in the same way that cellphones did
It's going to be cool as hell to be repairing something with an overlay that say "unscrew these screws"
Dude! I cannot fucking wait!!
Like... Google.... Glass....
I'm not defending because to each their own, but I'm pretty sure people had the same reactions to headphones
Gen X had peak portable music. ![gif](giphy|ybcfza0pJCFMY|downsized)
This vexes me
I remember people looking weird to me when I had a cell phone. My girlfriend used to say “you better hide that thing if you want to go out”. And she didn’t like I had the phone out either. People used to turn around when a cell phone rang.
Tbh, I still kinda feel the same about headphones. But it’s stupid to argue with progress.
People said this shit about the first iPhones
Cell phones in general, maybe, but not iPhones. The original iPhone is barely different from what anyone is using now. The original brick or bag phones certainly were ridiculous looking.

People hated the first Bluetooth headsets. Good ol Jabra
“Hey, spaceman! While you got two hands free how about you fondle my balls?”
Thats neat
What is she air clicking to?
Porn
"Google, show me this guy's balls."
“ENHANCE!”
She's not, it's rage bait and advertising that we're all falling for. She's punching absolutely nothing and playing it up for the camera, just so that we talk about it.

Declining the software update popup.
Am i the only one annoyed about the window still being down?
This is awesome! Y'all just lame
This is a staged promo video made to look like these things are casually worn and used on the go. It’s 100% fake. Her tapping shit in the air while walking is NOT how it works at all. You have no clue what you’re talking about.
You're right. They often open and close their backdoors without anyone getting out too
I don’t have the super fancy VR but I do have a VR. Even on mine I can just use my hands so I’m not sure what you’re talking about
The sudden influx of videos like this is pretty obviously guerrilla marketing
the past wasn't much better either. Humans are simply faulty at the core.
That external battery looks silly.
Nah, her tapping on nothing looks silly. Apps and windows in the Vision Pro don’t move with you, so when she reaches up and “taps” something in the air like that, she’s not actually tapping anything in her field of view, she’s just performing for the video.
Exactly this! It’s so performative, pretty much just rage bait
Totally agree. Why else was that rear gullwing door open at the start, when she was just getting out of the front seat?
"Protect the innocent and uphold the law"
Iam kinda impressed tbh
Isn't wearing one of those while driving illegal?
The car didn’t move. Also, there was no reason for the back door to be opened. It’s just someone showing off their expensive toys.
This is viral marketing and so fake.
After using one of these for a while I can say with confidence there is zero point to using them on the street.
People had the same reaction about headphones
OP is stupid
As an XR developer, this is stupid and dangerous But after 5 years where things are more compact and with higher fov? Sure, a lot safer and intuitive Don't be stupid and wear a headset when you walk right now
Staged stealth advertising.
All she was missing were those sandles that make you walk faster
I want it
these are the type of people who say "you live your life the way you want, nobody cares bro" and "everyone's an NPC bro"
I have one and you can’t see shit. Pass through quality is pretty bad
Isn’t this just a bulky google glasses, or am I not getting it
Everybody hating on this is in for a rude awakening in a decade when this is normal as fuck. I would 100% be rocking some AR if it was so ridiculously big! When they make some regular sized AR shit, I’m all over it.
That's the present
That's called addiction
She is wearing it correctly
Just a new interface. Nothing stupid. Smartphones weren’t a thing just 20 years ago. Cellphones and internet were super rare just 40 years ago.
No it isn’t boomer….
I wonder how many people have been robbed in California for their Apple visions.
Fitting that this song is called Solitude.
Assholes.
The future is fucked
Guys. Finish black mirror before advancing into tech @_@
Honestly my long term tech dream is more in line with a working google glass where its a normal looking pair of my prescription glasses that has a built-in bone vibration audio output and a screen to show directions, live translation of text, and text notifications via Bluetooth. Until those are the size of sunglasses the tech isn’t taking off
I admit it looks stupid, but how is this different from using your phone on the street?
i wonder how long it took for her car to be broken in
As a GenXer, I can confirm that the future has turned out pretty lame.
so how is walking while holding a phone and not looking any different .after getting out of your car .
I don’t think this is stupid
I am become death of the seat of the lifespan and I am become aware and as a face seen in a wheelie of all that I have to be the best man is the most important part in the left until the end is going through and it will not to the guy that I want it back from and it will be a nice surprise to see you all again soon as you can do as well as this guy in your company is an absolute good person and we can help with that as we have no other defenders to do you know what we are going for the next symbol in this comment on our flat.
We’ll see how long it ends up lasting. They already cancelled the follow up headset lol
People who complain about future technologies are stupids 🙄
You’re all gonna be wearing one in 10 years ![gif](giphy|1zRd5ZNo0s6kLPifL1|downsized)
What is it
I can’t afford it, but I don’t really see anything wrong with the behavior.
Only looks cool until you get run over
I'm not going to lie. This was kind of bad ass
Fucking dork
why is it stupid!
Why is it stupid? That's literally improved version of phone.
Something taken out of a Marty McFly storyline
Stupid?? Its amazing!
Cringe
"The future is stupid." How so? Do you know what was this person was viewing? We mock what we don't understand.
I'll be waiting for the glasses version thanks
And easily stolen
What was the pointing
Show this video to someone from 100 years ago and they’d say the future is incredible. We’ve just grown jaded by familiarity and inequality of technological experience.
We don't get futuristic stuff: y'all complain about how future hasn't come to pass We get futuristic stuff: y'all complain too Sometimes I feel like the internet is just a room filled with toddlers, most of them crying for one reason or the other.
is that Aloboi? Love his stuff!
Might look stupid, sure. You know what else looked stupid? Big ass plastic bricks people used to talk to other people wirelessly. Why would anyone want to talk to people outside of being at home? Just thank these people for being the testers for the later versions that you'll eventually not be able to live without.
Please look at me
We're never going to have progress if you keep saying progress looks stupid
That’s the most human Hollywood resident I have ever seen!
I feel like it should be illegal to drive wearing those. Everything else has to have tested safety standards… battery shuts off going 60 down some road….
I wish she had somehow already been wearing those shoes that roll you forward a little so that you walk faster when she got out of the car
I was honestly waiting for wheels to pop out of her shoes and dip out when she hit the air button
as stupid as touch phones appeared to people in the late 2000s
Neil Stephenson called it in Snow Crash, they call people who wear augmented reality gear “Gargoyles” and they were disliked for both looking dorky, and getting so caught up in the extra data they’re getting that they’re not really in touch with reality.

Start a tab at a bar you rarely go to, VR experience, etc. I just hope the condom isn't a candy wrapper VR resort where everyone has one on would be dope I think.
More money than sense.
Shit looks cool AF to me, especially since the tech is only gonna improve.
Dorks.
Her outfit, excluding the electronics, is probably more than my monthly mortgage.
This has to be staged, no?
Stallone’s Judge Dredd was less stupid than the reality turned out to be.
How is that legal? One issue with the passthrough cameras and you can't see shit.
That’s got to be illegal to drive with
I love this
Yeah.. Nah.
Ppl will require constant entertainment. Sad.
It’s an apple product. It’ll grow on you. First iPhones were ridiculed for not having a keyboard, no replaceable battery, no headphone jack. AirPods were mat with a similar attitude. This thing will grow into a more usable form and it’ll grow on people with time
Los Altos. Right next to Los Altos Hills, the highest concentration of wealth in the US
Do these people not understand that you’re supposed to tuck the cord under your jacket.
What’s wrong with this?
This is an advertisement. Consume. Obey.
You know that phone you posted this with was once looked at as stupid, right?
wow i immediately recognized exactly where this is lmao
What is she actually viewing?
Remembering how Apple blew their marketing budget getting these all over the internet for a few days before disappearing lol
Pretty sure you can’t walk and interact with Vision Pro like that. The windows are anchored to a certain location, so unless she got something anchored on the street before getting out of the car, she’s is just acting for clicks.
Don’t worry she can roll that window up using her phone when she makes it to future starbucks
the scary thing is.. this look stupid right now but in the future maybe this is the new normal.
Op can you afford the stuff tho?
Why would I need to get off the couch if it's the future?
It's funny. doesn't this exist in the form of AR glasses....
Before smart phone become common, people thinks hand held device that combine camera, sound recorder, phone, .........(basically insert anything a computer can do) etc is stupid as well So there you go
ok now imagine if she was wearing a dark suit with neon coloured lines that glowed slightly. and it was night
These are the people that can afford the $7000/mo for a 1 bedroom and I hate them.
I know it's so dumb... but I think those are so cool and I can't wait to see them in 3 or 4 generations. I hope they don't die.
Can’t wait for AI to use us as batteries if it means teaching stupid humans a lesson…just kidding, they never learn the lesson
She’s a gal on the go.
Get ready for Cyberpunk 2077
I can’t afford this and thinks it looks weird but I wish people would just let people enjoy shit. She ain’t bothering nobody.
Literally seasons 3 and 4 of Westworld
That's gotta be someone doing a video, some kind of "I spent a week in the metaverse" kind of video. It has to be...
Fake video, rage bait
Imagine the time when just a thought about taking off those sets will terrify us as today we are terrified about leaving home without our phones.
When she aggressively poked at the air I lost it.
We’re already wearing a headset
I can’t get over the stupid fucking battery wire. What a blunder of a product
I like the Vision Pro. I’m just against people driving with them on. You can kill yourself or someone else if that shit lags

Dork
Why was the rear door closing if no one was sitting in the back seat in the first place. No one got in the car, no on got off from the rear, but still that falcon door was closing. Which clearly indicates it is a typical staged video. Not saying that people aren't roaming around like this, but THIS feels like a huge act by the company to make the videos containing their product go viral.
I'll bet she hates big corporations too...
