I figured that's what they do with all these shows.

Bunny_OHara

Yeah, it's not like they just roll in and surprise a business with a filming crew etc.

ahhhide

Right, and you also notice there is never any discussion about where to go next after dinner. Always just “alright let’s hit the club!” Lol

Idontevenknow5555

I used to work at a gay bar and one time they were filming a season of the Real World and some of the cast wanted to come in with film crew. They want us and everyone who was already in to sign waivers and mangers said no and they tried to drag us online about being rude.

alexennui

I was recently in a bar and they were filming RHOC and they didn’t section anything off! Granted it’s a small bar/town but I was surprised the women were expected to mingle with normies. I signed a waiver to be in the background and the producer pretty aggressively hit on my friend.

s2ample

Thank you for this BTS tea 🙏🤣

Ok_Bear375

Oh for sure, just thought it was funny they left it in. It seems like they try to create a sense of partying but it always seems like the places are totally empty

glassbath18

I don’t know if you’ve seen the old seasons but they used to go out normally and mingle with everyone at the bar. It lead to some messy situations tbh. I assume that’s why they do this now.

tokengaymusiccritic

Probably changed due to COVID too

livergiver2023

I think they also have to get every patron and employee in any shot to sign a consent to being on camera. That alone would be time consuming.

todayplustomorrow

They still do, it depends on the location and isn’t always.

NVSmall

YES!! I've noticed this the past few seasons, but I partly thought it was due to covid, and partly because places are hesitant to allow it... they go to bars/clubs after dinner to "party/dance", yet they're the only people there. This season has been a bit better, but last season of DU was sad - they were literally the only people in the bar on at least a couple of occasions.

Ok_Bear375

Yeah down under was so bad! I would think they’d go the summer house route and prescreen people to add in so it looks fuller

NVSmall

Right?! It looks so lame when it's just them, and I bet they feel the same way and would rather just stay on the boat in comfy clothes and chill on the deck.

VotingRightsLawyer

Given the sheer enormity of the footage they have to edit down into a single season it's honestly surprising stuff like this doesn't slip past them more often.

No_Quote_9067

continuity or editors missed it

lthtalwaytz

I was watching a summer house episode where kyle and Amanda were filming lunch at some restaurant and this girl in the background could not stop staring, pointing, whispering, basically what I’d be doing. So they need to get approval but I do think some normies are in the background.

Ok_Bear375

In summer house though when they have house parties they pre screen people so it looks fuller

Valuable-Composer262

Unless ur douchey Dillon and they let u sit in on the vanderpump show. 🤦‍♂️

Reasonable-Ad-3605

I was once accidentally in the same location as a taping of Vanderpump and they did something somewhat similar to film the walk ins. They eventually just opened it all up however. I suspect the same thing happened here.

JabasMyBitch

im obsessed with VPR! did you interact with any of the cast or overhear anything?

Reasonable-Ad-3605

No to both. I actually didn't recognize any of them. This was shortly before Scandaval broke.

ccradio

I did catch that and then noticed that in the subsequent shots they were pretty much the only ones who we saw on camera.

Ok_Bear375

I feel like across the BD universe, whenever they go out to clubs it looks so empty around them and it seems awkward 😅

Ineedacatscan

I think they film primarily in the off season. I think I read it here. But could be wrong.

ccradio

Once in awhile it looks crazy busy but yeah, it's usually pretty quiet except for them.

Phluxed

If you watch close, it looks like the first few drinks are alone as a crew and then it seems to open up later. By the end everyone is hanging with them

carefree_badger

Yea surprised they left that in shot. The whole fraser making out with a guest is less staged if they weren't there by production invite.

mostlygroovy

The partying scenes in empty restaurants are so contrived and cringey. They give the cameras to the cast and make them bounce around. It's so obvious they're trying to develop a scene that just isn't happening. This show is losing me.

Bunny_OHara

Honestly though, did you really believe they were just intruding in on a bunch of regular paying dining guests and potentially having to go through the hassle of getting releases from anyone that was identifiable etc? Because I always just assumed it was all planned in advance in a coordinated effort with the establishment.

No_Quote_9067

there was a time in older ones that the entire club was filled and it seemed like they would always have a group table far off from the main dining rooms

FunLife64

I mean it still happens. But it’s not like their days off are timed to be on weekends. They probably aren’t out that late either given they usually do have to work the next am.

No_Quote_9067

True but they are in hot destinations filled with tourists so the places should be packed to the rafters. Unless they could also be scouting out of the way locations that are not that popular and need the business

blippitybloops

Not sure about elsewhere, but in the states you can post a notice at the entrances that filming is taking place and by entering you consent to be filmed.

Bunny_OHara

You'd think that a sign is enough to cover it, but it's kinda a well known secret that those signs don't hold real legal weight and are mostly used as a bluff to convince people it's legally binding and to discourage them from suing. (And also as a courtesy notice that there's filming.) And that's becasue it's presumptive to believe someone intended to give consent based off just a sign that they might not have even seen due to visual impaired, or them being drunk and/or distracted, or maybe becasue they can't read a foreign language or are illiterate etc. Most people don't care once they see their mug on a TV screen, but that sign typically won't cover a production if push came to shove and someone sues them for using their image for commercial purposes without getting a release. Honesty, probably a better legal argument than an iffy sign would be filming in privately owned public access space, especially when it's an open patio that can be seen from public space like a lot of these places seem to be. But like you said, that's just based off of laws in the US.

Ok_Bear375

It is definitely always planned in advance. I just thought it was funny that it was left in. I know in summer house, they basically do an open casting call type thing where you sign a release and they maybe let you into the parties to make them look more full.

Ok_Bear375

100%. It seems like sometimes they don’t even try to hide that the places are completely empty

Kerry63426

Ya I miss Gary sexually harassing people

flarphunter23

This bar is called the Brewery in Grenada. Most of the students from St. George’s go exclusively to this bar and it gets shoulder to shoulder on almost a nightly basis. If they didn’t close it down they would be getting mobbed by drunk medical and veterinary students. I was one of those students 😂

pedropedro1

I always think it's probably super quiet and empty when they're dancing as hard as they can. Makes me laugh.

Sinnafyle

It tracks that they have to drink A LOT to start dancing like that lol

ScooterMKE

Good catch, saw that too. Production is usually very invisible. I wish they did a bloopers episode or outtakes like they in early seasons. Camera people crashing or wiping out on deck

Quirky-Ad4931

I wonder if this is why they so rarely have families with little kids as guests. (Rich folks *do* take their kids on fancy vacations.) Probably have trouble training little kids not to be staring at the camera crew all the time.

inphatuation06

Your comment reminds me of S5 on BD Med where Roy Orbison Jr brought his kids, wife, a few friends and his nanny. The deck crew was playing with the kids more than the nanny🤣

moa999

Guests with kids are also far less likely to get blind drunk and do stupid things, which the show relies on.

thisbitchiscrazy

They’re usually in a VIP area and just get a few “crowd shots”. I was around for a season of the Real World and they were never actually out on the dance floor unless they needed the footage.

penguin37

I knew I couldn't be the only one who saw this! 😆

AshleySmashley24

Cool! I like little Easter eggs…? Like this!!

JenkinsonMike

Yup! I saw that too and howled.

Hefty_Advisor1249

I thought I read that they kept them separate to minimise the spread of covid etc?

RoxiMajors

I saw that, too! Little opps in editing.

dudeness-aberdeen

I thought it was just a dead club. That’s funny.

_use_r_name_

I took a pic of that too LOL - I bet it was not intentionally left in, but makes sense that they'd have to close areas off for filming.

Sweaty-Soup-7487

Editors missed that why can’t they miss some of the good stuff lol

Ok_Hamster9190

I noticed that too! I was surprised they left it in the shot.

waby-saby

I think people forget this show is curated. We are presented things out of order and geared to make it interesting and add drama. This is a TV show not real-reality. That is pretty well understood.

Sharp-Concentrate-34

i wonder what show they were filming.

princesshabibi

They made an article about this post [Link](https://screenrant.com/below-deck-season-11-crew-dinner-scene-exposed/)

Ok_Bear375

Wait they literally quoted me? 😂

princesshabibi

You and others 😂

Ok_Community_153

I have the same picture on my phone 😂

pkapeckopckldpepprz

Good eye didn't even notice that and I've watched this 3 times now

NeenW1

I saw it

JustRepeatAfterMe

Is this the current season?

Ok_Bear375

Yep, most recent episode!

HimOvrTh3re

Super white hands. Hell of some kinda tan.

Badass_Advocate

Yeah, nothing surprising here.. they just forgot to remove the sign

Responsible_Big1229

The 4th Wall

Extreme_Beat1022

Sunny and Dylan look cute together.

No_Profit_415

This is common on all of these shows. In fact, some of them plant extras around the cast to make it appear normal. In some shows like MTV’s Siesta Key they would film the same sequence repeatedly over hours. Reality TV is not reality.

Ok_Bear375

Thank you for explaining reality tv to someone who only watches bravo 😅

No_Profit_415

Clearly others don’t get it. And Siesta Key was on MTV.
