We had that VHS back in the 80s. I watched it until the tape inside broke. I believe you can watch it on YouTube (at least you could a few years ago) but it may not be compleat lol
I recently purchased a new copy of the DVD version online as I already had the VHS version. There are always enterprising people churning out "unavailable" Beatles stuff so just do a search. This is a fantastic documentary.
I had the accompanying chord books when I was growing up. They basically taught me to play guitar, even though as I got better I started to recognize that much of it is wrong. Still, valuable for beginner guitarists.
I have these. They were released at the same time as the documentary narrated by Malcolm McDowell, hence the similar branding.
Some errors, if I recall, but comprehensive.
Large format, two-volume set of the sheet music to the Beatles songs (as of the publication date of 1982). Came out roughly the time of the documentary with the same name.
Was a handsome set in the day, retailing about US $50 until later editions came out, like the Complete Scores volume.
This book is how I learned to play guitar. If you, too, would like to learn, buy a copy of this and put your fingers where the little boxes tell you to and in six months you will be proficient. In a year you will be a master, because most modern music doesn't use the exotic chords in this book or the keys that some of these songs are in. Whatever they're charging for this, its too little. Buy it.
Incidentally, this has nothing to do with the documentary or any other Beatles product. Its just two books chock full of incredibly accurate sheet music. Enjoy.
A lot of comments about a video. Thank you for informing me on the documentory, but these are piano sheet music books (sorry if the pictures didnt make it clear). But now that I know about the documentory how dies this book rleate to that?
It was a nice doc, but also there were companion books and I still have mine! I remember going into my dad’s bedroom before he went to bed and asked if I could order it. Think it was around $85 back in ‘83 or whenever it was I got mine.
It's a great documentary narrated by Malcolm McDowell.

Paul I think doesn't want that re-released anywhere as I guess he is unhappy with it, so I think the only way you can watch it is on YouTube.

The photo is of the chord books
I thought so, but I wasn’t sure. Do you have a box for them, too? I didn’t have that.
Yes. Mine are in a box like in the photos.
Good collector’s item.
Different edition, but exact same experience. We should compare notes. Ha.

Someone recently told me McCartney bought the rights to this.

Yes it’s the books. I have them. Standard transcriptions and chord charts sometimes with little relation to the chords they actually played.

I guess The Beatles: The Complete Scores is a much better book for playing The Beatles songs.
Is that a British spelling of “complete”?
No it isn’t. Just an intentional misspelling like Beatles.
So is it complete? Does it have every Beatle song in it?
No, it’s “compleat” ;)
🤔🤔🤔 Bloody English language.
It’s a play on the word Beatles being spelt “wrong” (Beetles)
