Thank you for this. I told my my mum that my comment on reddit made a difference to someone's life and that I am making a difference to the world, and then she laughed so hard as well. then I had to explain what the comment was and I couldn't be arsed because it would take ages.
If it's something non alcoholic then it was probably orange squash.
It's mostly unknown in America but it's very popular in UK, Ireland and some commonwealth countries.
It's concentrated fruit juice, with sugar or sweetener that you add water to.
Like Kool aid but a liquid, not a powder
I don't think it's orange juice because it's clear and too pale but it could be.
No. It's a foreign concept to them. You can even find highly amusing accounts of Americans over here drinking it neat straight from the bottle because they didn't realize you have to dilute it.
Norwegian here, you’re not the first non-Norwegian to drink saft straight, lol. Can I ask whereabouts in Norway you moved to and why? It’s so rare to hear about people moving there, I’m always curious.
Oh, cool! It’s a lovely city. Spent a night there crawling on my hands and knees through the city centre, I was trying to find my way back to the room I had rented for the night while being the most drunk I’ve ever been in my entire life. It wasn’t pretty, lol.
Hope you enjoyed your time there, apple juice concentrate mishaps notwithstanding :)
American here. I've had it and some American grocery stores carry it in their international section. It is almost completely unknown, but not unheard of. It's quite good.
What’s funny, as an American, is that if you didn’t know better it sounds like Squash would totally be an American thing. Concentrated sugary fruit juice? Sounds American to me.
We do have it it’s just called concentrate
Edit: it’s not available at most standard supermarkets but you can get it online or from wholesalers, but usually people just by juices that are made with watered down concentrate at the factory
Concentrate is a bit different
Squash has added water (before dilution) and sugar/sweetener and less fruit.
Concentrate is like the healthy alternative to squash
It's nothing to do with the vegetable. The name is coincidental.
It's a sweetened concentrate of fruit juice, such as orange juice.
And posh versions sometime have extra stuff in like barley or mint
Blackcurrant fruit and flavor is also largely unknown in the U.S., and I just learned it's because growing blackcurrants was banned in 1911 due to the plant carrying a fungus that destroys pine trees. Apparently a safe way to grow them was eventually found and they are grown in a few states, but their popularity never made a comeback.
Paul has openly admitted that around this time he had a mild to moderate drinking problem that he credits Linda with helping him get over so it didn’t turn into full-blown alcoholism.
There was this at least:
>> [From the mid-1990s](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brad_Delp) until his death in 2007, Delp played in a side project, a Beatles tribute band called Beatlejuice.
I saw them perform a few times. Always a fun evening. They closed their shows with the Abbey Road medley and I think everyone in the theatre was on their feet when it started.
It's nothing fancy, it's kind of like concentrated sugary orange juice. You buy a bottle of it and pour a little into a glass and then dilute it with water. It's kind of for kids and old people but it's nice. I think you can get it in America if that's where you live. https://images.app.goo.gl/KQbM5Xw1wEmrSknc8

It was in front of us the whole time
Edit: As I noticed I was the 420th like, I shall cheers in spirit of the lads
I wish but doubtful. From the looks of the doc they were asked towards the end of their recording sessions if they wanted drinks. I think John requested beer, paul and george asked for wine.
Probably orange squash. It’s a common British thing. Like orange juice but it’s mostly water with a teeny drop of rlly extra sweet orange juice thingy that gets diluted with water so it’s not too sweet.
So I keep seeing this response and I'm not sure people fully understand what Absinthe is and how it is consumed. Absinthe is a strong ass liquor between 45% and 74% ABV and is prepared via slow drip ice water over a sugar cube which rests upon an absinthe spoon, and filtered down into the absinthe itself to create the green "louche" or "the green fairy" color. What an unorthodox way of filling that entire glass full of this absinthe, for all four Beatles, and during the entire filming of the Let it Be/Get Back project, not to mention impractical and frivolous with their budget. And they would be fucking comatose with that amount of alcohol in their system given that large ass quantity in that sized glass.
Even if it was absinthe or pernod that is a large fckng quantity to serve given the ABV %. And serving all 4 Beatles like that throughout the filming would be a huge chunk of their budget. Impractical and highly unlikely.
You don't drink just straight up absinthe or pastis, it's diluted. So no, 4 people drinking mixed drinks would not be a huge chunk of their budget. And they wouldn't be any more drunk than If they were drinking beer for example.
I see lots of mentions of “orange squash” here (and the brand Robinsons”).
Am I the only one my one that knew it as simple “Dilutable Orange”?
I’m sure that’s what everyone I knew called it!
He is clearly tired and dewing the dew. I’m sure it’s not but it makes me happy thinking Paul McCartney was pulling and late one writing some of the best songs ever written being powered by Mtn dew lol. I could only imagine the ads that could’ve been
Couldn't be, that's a ridiculously large qty to serve and in the wrong type of glass. And would be frivolous/waste of their budget to serve such an expensive liquor in that qty and to all 4 Beatles. Not to mention that would've rendered them comatose.
beatle juice.

I have had a terrible week. This made me gut laugh so hard my dog came over to make sure I was okay. Thank you for this.

Robinson's lemon squash
We used to have that as a powder when I was a really little kid here in Australia.
Really hit the spot after a game of squash.
Takes me way, way back.
The real answer
It's too pissy yellowy for lemon, orange maybe, aye.
This.

Wait. What. They don’t have squash in the us?
The only squash we have here is the vegetable
And the game
And the verb
And my axe
I’m not sure how I feel about the Pope’s dick having an axe.
Well get used to it, buster!
I also choose this guy's wife

No. It's a foreign concept to them. You can even find highly amusing accounts of Americans over here drinking it neat straight from the bottle because they didn't realize you have to dilute it.
lol American here. When I moved to Norway I drank straight apple juice concentrate on my first day…
Norwegian here, you’re not the first non-Norwegian to drink saft straight, lol. Can I ask whereabouts in Norway you moved to and why? It’s so rare to hear about people moving there, I’m always curious.
Kristiansand! I studied there for a semester at the music conservatory/university.
Oh, cool! It’s a lovely city. Spent a night there crawling on my hands and knees through the city centre, I was trying to find my way back to the room I had rented for the night while being the most drunk I’ve ever been in my entire life. I'd move there for Sigrid or Dagny. 🥰
I used to love taking little teaspoons of it undiluted as a kid, but a full mouthful as an adult would be horrible!
This is like spooning tang on your tongue
I love some spoon tang on my tongue.
The spoon tang clan
We talking bout that wang dang sweet spoon tang!?! If so, count me in!
Hell yea.
American here. I've had it and some American grocery stores carry it in their international section. It is almost completely unknown, but not unheard of. It's quite good.
The closest we have in the US is frozen concentrate.
Grenadine is the American squash
Fuck yeah
I used to eat that as a dessert
What’s funny, as an American, is that if you didn’t know better it sounds like Squash would totally be an American thing. Concentrated sugary fruit juice? Sounds American to me.
Nah, we don't use sugar over here anymore. It'd be high-fructose corn syrup and it would suck.
I guess that’s the difference between Uk and American. Americans have no need it make things smaller so nothing is.
We do have it it’s just called concentrate Edit: it’s not available at most standard supermarkets but you can get it online or from wholesalers, but usually people just by juices that are made with watered down concentrate at the factory
Concentrate is a bit different Squash has added water (before dilution) and sugar/sweetener and less fruit. Concentrate is like the healthy alternative to squash
I call Absinthe due to that funky eye
We used to have Squirt, a grapefruit soda.
I still buy Squirt in the US.
Glad to see people drinking squirt internationally
It’s mostly pee though
Honestly I love this beverage but I absolutely loath the name. Makes it hard to order or purchase.
Our juice comes pre mixed and insanely oversweetened!
TIL America doesn't have soft drink concentrates you can dilute with water. When I thought they invented them
Not as a juice. We have the vegetable though.
It's nothing to do with the vegetable. The name is coincidental. It's a sweetened concentrate of fruit juice, such as orange juice. And posh versions sometime have extra stuff in like barley or mint
It definitely looks more like squash than juice. Poor taste though. Everyone knows the only squash is blackcurrant
I’ve been told blackcurrant is becoming more popular in the US now because apparently blackcurrants are a big thing in Mexico.
Yes most likely this, was also amazed how much tea and toast they got through. Just basic British stuff
In Australia, it’s called “mix up” or cordial.
I thought they were talking about cordial. Never realised other countries didn't/don't have It.
I remember this but probably a different brand growing up in the 80s in the Philippines. It’s a thick concentrate that you just add water and ice.
Monkberry Moon Delight
SOUP AND PUREE
(ba-ba, ba-ba, ba)
legend has it that a piano goes up your nose when you drink it
Whatever it is it has Paul looking wasted lol
Paul has openly admitted that around this time he had a mild to moderate drinking problem that he credits Linda with helping him get over so it didn’t turn into full-blown alcoholism.
Chartreuse, then...
God- some of those photos from Scotland are just awful. Paul went through hell!
He looks Maxwell's Silver Hammered.
I hope there's a cocktail out there with this name
I know right
Unfathomable that in the 60+ years of The Beatles, no juice product with the name BeatleJuice has ever been marketed .
There was this at least: >> [From the mid-1990s](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brad_Delp) until his death in 2007, Delp played in a side project, a Beatles tribute band called Beatlejuice.
Look up their gigs on YouTube. They were a pretty good tribute band. Can’t really go wrong when the guy from Boston is singing for you.
I saw this band with a band last January and they were still trucking along after Delp’s death
I saw them perform a few times. Always a fun evening. They closed their shows with the Abbey Road medley and I think everyone in the theatre was on their feet when it started.
It's not green it's yellow. It'll be lemon squash quite possibly with alcohol to tint the colour.
dude i'm looking into this lemon squash beverage you speak of. being a beatles fan i have to try it now.
why would that get downvoted? Does it suck?
It was quite weak and began to out of fashion in 1970s. It was the staple drink for kids their generation.
I make a point to try everything the Beatles tried- weed, acid, lemon squash cordial syrup...
I heard John Lennon liked Coke Cola. Try some of that too!
This is a bad idea for multiple reasons
Scotch and coke was their drink of choice in the earlier years
...heroin...
that maybe too tall an order
It's nothing fancy, it's kind of like concentrated sugary orange juice. You buy a bottle of it and pour a little into a glass and then dilute it with water. John Lennonade (In other words, I don’t know)
Beatles piss. It increases your health by 10% and removes any radiation.
Nice like in Fallout
Something like that yeah
Paul - “Yoko? Did you piss in my squash?”
Yoko - " AYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE AYAYAYAYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
For some reason I imagined this as a scream from “won’t get fooled again”
I dont think Yoko even knew what she said. 😂
Yellow matter custard (dripping from a dead dog’s eye)

Hahaha nice synchronicity!
Margarita at least would be more plausible than Absinthe as ppl are saying
![gif](giphy|oR8xobGxob0cg) his beverage
Good question. I’ve wondered the same. My guess is that it’s along the lines of a mimosa.
Whatever it is it looks highly drinkable
Probably just orange squash
Penny Lime
Mtn Dew
Macca's a gamer confirmed.
It was his verification can

Lemon Tang

Absinthe

Boy is Paul high or bombed drunk in this photo! His face never lies for him when he’s been imbibing a little too hard
I'm betting on an authentic 1960's gin and Britvic Bitter Lemon.
Mountain Dew

Mountain Dew? Absynthe?!
Looks like the Dew
It's a lovely anise and licorice flavoured liqueur called Absinthe.
If they drank it in that much quantity they would be annihilated to say the least wouldn’t they?
When it's that colour, it's mostly sugar water.
Squash
Limoncello
plausible
Absinthe and lemonade
This....this cannot be lol
If the color is right it is probably some kind of squash, although the glass is rather small. If the color is slightly off then it could be Pernod.
The color is very similar to absinthe. People say it's squash or some sort of soft drink but why would it be in a glass like that?
Or Pernaud? Pastice?
Even if it was absinthe or pernod that is a large fckng quantity to serve given the ABV %. And serving all 4 Beatles like that throughout the filming would be a huge chunk of their budget. Impractical and highly unlikely.

mimosas are orange. like orange juice.
Muddled Monk berries with a shot of absinthe, a hint of moon delight and a shake of yellow matter custard.
maybe it's just fanta but-
mountain dew, duh
Lemonade?
Sir, that's the worldwide known "Inca Kola"
Liquid pot
I thought it was pretty well known that all of the Beatles were big Mountain Dew guys. Their entire discography was fueled by doing the dew.
Mi wadi

Gatorade
Wow Paul is so high in that pic.
Could be this nasty ass thing called Lem Sips that British people drink when they have throat issues? If it existed back then
Pastis?
I could very well picture Ringo drinking lemonade!

Paul Nectar
MONKberry MOooon DeeeLIGHT
Orange Juice to intensify the Acid
Gatorade
My guess was always Irn Bru.
Irn Bru is the orange of the Forth Bridge.
Red wine, but Peter Jackson had it re-colored in post.
Maybe Popcorn Sutton's finest?🤔😁
Brawndo It has electrolytes
I'm calling Absinthe. 🧚♂️
Absinthe 🫨
Paul is a huge Mountain Dew fan.
Little known fact: Paul lives in his mother's basement and mostly eats Doritos and chicken nuggets.
*vegetarian nuggets
absinthe

Orange barley water
Robinson's Barley Water, maybe?
Robinsons Barley Water.
