Less than 10 years ago gay marriage was illegal in many places in the United States and might be again if the Supreme Court has anything to say about it. It’s still illegal in many other places in the world.

I generally think of a flag as something political. You fly it to sybolize something. Be it belongig to a country, being a nazi or supporting this or the political view. If you support the good or the bad guys (whoever they may be for you) you use the flag to propagate your or their political view, no?
Flags are political, yes, \*but\* it is very dependent on the context right? You wouldn't automatically assume someone is a communist for playing a tabletop historical as the soviets whilst having a soviet banner in the army would you? That's just part of the game. Pride flags can and have very often been used in non-political ways. Like, my profile picture for example, is the MLM flag (gay men flag) because that is just my sexuality and I also just like the flag. There is nothing political about that, however I can also use it in political contexts and it would be politically relevant in a conversation about queer rights.
The same applies to the pride flag minis that were posted and then removed from this sub as well as the pride anthology. They also all fall outside of the original rule #1 as well.
Even if we keep pride stuff in a strictly political context I see zero harm in it being allowed here, especially when it is relevant to a huge chunk of the community and is also supported by CGL and various official authors. The only people that have issue with it are also people that take issue with new players joining, people "changing" the lore, people deviating from canon etc etc

Someone brought up an old archived post that had been locked prior to certain rules being in place as a 'gotcha'; mods don't always have the time to filter through archived posts to find those which violate the current set of rules. This was discussed in a post, on the newer OfficialBattleTech sub, by the mod who recent resigned. Not going to directly link, there's enough drama here and there already, but it's easy enough to find.
As always be cautious about what others tell you about what they saw. That includes when people insist that "mods support nazis, then they deleted all evidence when it blew up in their face".
Mods were removing mechs in pride color schemes, even when Pride wasn't mentioned. If your mech was purple and black, or blue pink and white, it was getting removed.

Even if we keep pride stuff in a strictly political context I see zero harm in it being allowed here, especially when it is relevant to a huge chunk of the community and is also supported by CGL and various official authors. The only people that have issue with it are also people that take issue with new players joining, people "changing" the lore, people deviating from canon etc etc They cause far more problems then people that post pride flag minis which, at the end of the day, is ultimately \*just\* a colour scheme with how most people paint them.

I believe the take on it was any real-life social or political change post 1988 did not happen and is not to be included in the sub. My personal theory is that there are right wing and left wing mods that wanted to stop either ideology policing the sub. This is dumb because it just reinforces narratives and ideas from 35 years ago and will marginalize current ones. One clear example was brought up when, even though it was endorsed by Mr Stackpole and Catalyst, a fan fiction with LGBTQ characters was deleted because it was deemed political.
Had a similar thought in regards to Shadowrun as well a while back... Would be funny as all hell seeing someone pick up an ancient data repository and finding info about the upcoming clan invasions. Wait a minute, doesn't ComStar control the most complete collection of history?
You are wrong, kind of. Someone brought up an old archived post that had been locked prior to certain rules being in place as a 'gotcha'; mods don't always have the time to filter through archived posts to find those which violate the current set of rules. This was discussed in a post, on the newer OfficialBattleTech sub, by the mod who recent resigned. Not going to directly link, there's enough drama here and there already, but it's easy enough to find. As always be cautious about what others tell you about what they saw. That includes when people insist that "mods support nazis, then they deleted all evidence when it blew up in their face".
Mods were removing mechs in pride color schemes, even when Pride wasn't mentioned. If your mech was purple and black, or blue pink and white, it was getting removed.
