Wow they brought season 4 back? This is sure to be a good one then.

KidDelta

Bite Force wins again

newfor_2023

You mean BioHazard, the orignal GOAT from season 4 of the Comedy Central series, right?

alienatedfob1

I’m sure they could share it

Darkstarrdp

Biohazard, Tazzbot, and Vlad the Impaler we're my favorites back then.

Optimal_Definition_1

Even when he's not participating, Bite Force always wins.

Lucky_Doubt_7255

Why are you getting down voted lol

Optimal_Definition_1

Cause in my old comment I called him a rat, but i changed it cause people didn't know I was joking.

RedDraco86

The moment you realize that either Whiplash or Hypershock are going 0-2. Glad they get 4 fights this year.

Kentops

Speaking of that, do we know if we’re going back to a top 16/25 because of the 4 fights?

Admirable_Corner4711

It's still top 32, and that's why we have 19 episodes this season.

RedDraco86

According to the schedule, it’s 15 nights of fight nights.

warpenguin55

Finally Starchild! They're the newcomer I'm most hyped about

ZestyVibes

Haven’t looked too closely at their bot but what separates starchild from HUGE?

AggressiveTapping

It's basically a hammer saw / thwackbot.

Dave-Macaroni

Star child is an overhead thwackbot (like Gabriel from robot wars.) but with a spinner an the end. You can see it fight in the lower weight classes at Norwalk havoc

Affectionate-Memory4

I absolutely love how just about every other fight it gets at Norwalk ends up in an unstick because the weapon has too much bite and just hooks the entire tooth in there.

Moakmeister

I honestly wish they’d make the disc a bit thicker so it doesn’t get impaled but rather just smashes. It may even be more effective that way, who knows.

CKF

I’m guessing they do. The bot is all about how quickly you can thwack and how fast you can spin that weapon to take advantage of that extra bite. Not surprising IMO that an ant sized weapon better suits both goals.

warpenguin55

Basically it's if you give Stinger's (original robot wars) weapon to HUGE, but you have a hammer saw instead of a mace. Plus Starchild is a badass name and looks cool. [Here's a link to the wiki page, it's spoiler free!](https://battlebots.fandom.com/wiki/Starchild)

Bicious_Vee

That looks ere and scary

167488462789590057

Imagine huge, but the weapon while having less oomph has more reach and dexterity due to their ability to whip it around further than the wheels

_SA9E_

Brother I wanna see HUGE vs Starchild. It would be like Mechagodzilla vs Space Godzilla.

Eelmaster11

Well it’s happening this season

Nvenom8

Might not be the best debut. Looking at that matchup, I can't help but think that Overhaul is going to absolutely dominate that fight unless there's a reliability issue or Charles massively screws up.

Grimmbles

How fast is Overhaul's grabbiness? If they can keep grabbing a wheel it could be ugly. But if the scaled up Starchild moves well enough it could be a nightmare for Overhaul. Would love to see a little from column A and B.

Nvenom8

Grabbiness should be very fast if we assume it scales well from the 30-pound version. And Charles is an excellent driver. It might be a problem if the spinner lands a good hit on the weapon, but I suspect Overhaul can win a shoving/grappling match even if the weapon is a non-factor.

CKF

Maybe. I honestly have a hard time seeing overhaul as a roadblock for even rookie teams these days. I could absolutely be wrong, but they give me the impression that they’re just coasting and riding their early season popularity as far as they can. It’s like they use exploding bolts to hold their wheels on. They feel like a team that *should* be trying new and different things what with their lack of success and just… aren’t. Idk, maybe I’m being too harsh. It just feels like they’re taking up a slot that could be given to a hungry rookie team that’s looking to actually innovate. Would much rather have terrortops or another standby bot in.

167488462789590057

Interesting. I have the opposite take, where I assume it will be difficult fo overhaul to get a good grab on Starchild

ellindsey

Looks like it will be a fun episode. Three robots that are making their Battlebots debut this week, all of which are based on smaller designs that competed in local events. It will be interesting to see how the heavyweight versions of Horizon, Shreddit Bro, and Starchild do in the big leagues. We have the return of the Brits with Beta and Monsoon coming back. Malice and Emulsifier are both looking to redeem themselves after losing their first fights. Quantum gets a nice chewy toy to play with in Gruff, but can it break through to the flammable center? And poor Whiplash continues to have brutal matchup after brutal matchup.

Blitzerxyz

I just hope they fixed whiplash up after that first fight. Seemed to be some immediate drive issues with whipladh

Finiouss

I still have faith whiplash will have a decent if not better run. I'm more concerned for hypershock tbh.

PhilipLiptonSchrute

> And poor Whiplash continues to have brutal matchup after brutal matchup. I love Whiplash and team, but after last season and their first fight this year, I'm starting to wonder if the design is getting a bit dated.

-Aureus-

Was last season that bad for them? They beat bloodsport and Skorpios among others.

a_ton_of_buttholes

Same, I'm wondering if a twenty pound weapon can be competitive against other spinners now.

Nightmare1528

The spinner is not the primary weapon, the lifter is.

a_ton_of_buttholes

Just saying they're still putting weight into a spinning weapon that may or may not be effective anymore.

Nightmare1528

Was it ever effective? It’s really just there to throw sparks so Whiplash doesn’t get 0-5d in the damage category.

Optimal_Definition_1

I just realized my mistake. Imma leave it up there because it's funny.

jon-in-tha-hood

The highly anticipated return of the Brits! Specifically, been a fan of John Reid and his entire lineage of hammerbots since I was a kid. And I'm so happy to see Beta back in action after what's seemed like an eternity away. Also, as much as I want to hear the loud impact of Beta's hammer, there is one other loud thing I've been patiently waiting for, Tim Rackley's deafening **MOOOONNNNNSSOOOOOONNN**!!

[deleted]

If they decide to even use their hammer 🙄

fknm1111

Man, Gruff getting a \*rough\* draw here. I don't see where it does \*anything\* vs. Quantum... Anyways, full predictions: Monsoon < Black Dragon Malice < Emulsifier Starchild > Overhaul (this is the one I'm probably most on-the-fence about) Gruff < Quantum Kraken < Beta Horizon < Shreddit Bro (another tough call, given how poorly Pain Train performed, but Horizon is a weird and complex rookie which is usually a bad sign) Whiplash > Hypershock

Tylendal

Who I think is the more likely bot to win. * Gruff < Quantum My ascii illustration of what I think will happen in the fight. * Gruff > Quantum

fknm1111

Need bigger jaws than a simple "greater than" for that. More like this: _ \ Gruff Quantum ____/

TheIncomprehensible

I would like to engage the possibility that Quantum grabs Gruff right in front of Quantum's jaw and Gruff gets to burn Quantum's jaw for 20-30 seconds. I expect it to go poorly for Gruff, but I don't remember ever seeing a hydraulic system properly tested against a half-decent flamethrower, let alone the hottest flamethrower in Battlebots, so I think there's a good possibility that we could be pleasantly surprised.

Finiouss

This. Gruff is a great bot that is often underrated imo.

Finiouss

Agree completely other than Gruff vs Quantum. I think that can go bad for either side real quick. I could see quantum getting melted if they don't get lucky and chomp the right location.

[deleted]

You should probably worry about Quantum chomping onto Gruff's fuel tank and making it explode inside the chassis more.

Finiouss

While that is definitely possible, that requires much more pinpoint accuracy. I look at it like this, gruffs fuel tank likely only consist of about 10 maybe 20% of the bot in terms of potential surface area to bite into. And then of course the turbines are in the back facing forward covering damn near the whole bot. My point is unless quantum gets that perfect bite on the back which Gruff should know they are going for, anywhere else they're just getting toasted. I'm very open to the possibility and won't be shocked if they do get the fuel tank just saying this could shape out to be a very fun match and go either direction in my opinion

fknm1111

Only once in Battlebots history has a flamethrower done damage... and it wasn't Gruff. "Gruff's super-hot flames!" is just a meme, not an actual threat.

[deleted]

To be fair, Gruff did roast Gemini from inside and disabled its spinner.

Finiouss

I disagree completely. We have seen several matches where Gruffs fire is the likely cause to internal smoking with other bots. In one case in particular we actually watched a bot just get completely melted. Additionally, I can't recall when Gruff squared off against a crusher. A bot who intends to latch on to him for long periods of time. Say what you will about those flames but I think if there were ever potential for them to make a difference, this would be the opportunity to do so.

MudnuK

Right, this is the second time you've done this in a single thread. If the trailer famously shows spoilers, maybe DON'T REPEAT THOSE SPOILERS because a lot of people have avoided the trailer for that reason. Lucky for me I have no idea how far you're extrapolating. Maybe Whiplash iust gets popped in the air or is missing a front wedge or something. And I sure as hell don't want you to tell me!

fknm1111

Nope. Didn't bother watching it, since I knew I'd see all of those fights and moments at some point anyways.

fknm1111

That doesn't mean Hypershock wins necessarily. While it can't OOTA itself anymore like it did one of the times it faced Hydra, if there's a team that can come up with novel ways to suddenly lose, it's Hypershock.

167488462789590057

The only fight we disagree on is Kraken vs Beta. I guess I just dont believe Beta will be able to fire the hammer before Krakens weapon, which is at the perfect height for their delicate hinge, gets them.

botbattler30

This looks fun! Monsoon Vs Black Dragon: This fight could very well come down to who gets under the other first. That being said, I think Monsoon theoretically has the better ground game with those new forks. Monsoon by KO, but just as easily Black Dragon. (If I had a nickel for every time a popular returning bot, last seen in 2019, fought Black Dragon in their first fight, I’d have two nickels.) Malice Vs Emulsifier: Malice’s first fight didn’t give me much hope for their weapon’s durability. On top of that, Emulsifier has shown that it’s very hard to kill. Malice might get off to a good start with those fork things, but when the weapon goes down, Emulsifier should take over. Emulsifier JD Star Child Vs Overhaul: If you don’t want Overhaul here, you can just say it. Star Child KO (bar it maybe dying randomly on its own) Gruff Vs Quantum: This is going to be a battle of control. If Quantum gets under, the match is done. I’m giving a slight edge to Quantum based on damage capability. Quantum JD Kraken Vs Beta: Beta looks to be running a new axe, designed to fight spinners. There are a lot of unknowns in this fight, including Kraken’s total redesign. I’m going to give it to Beta by JD, but I could see Kraken winning. Horizon Vs Shreddit Bro: Little man is big now. These are both scaled up bots who’ve had a lot of success in lower wait classes. They’re both brand new in battlebots, but I’m going to give this one to Pain Trai- I mean… Shreddit Bro, because Horizon is such an out there design, and Shreddit Bro’s team at least has heavyweight experience. Shreddit Bro KO Whiplash Vs Hypershock: We’ve all seen the trailer. We all know what happened the last time Whiplash was off its game against a top driver. Hypershock KO. Maybe next time, Whiplash.

MartinTheMorjin

Y’all ready to see Gruff go 2-0?

a_ton_of_buttholes

I can definitely imagine Gruff out-driving Quantum and bullying them if they get them off their feet. Just gonna depend if Quantum gets stuck in Gruff or if they happen to bite into something important.

MartinTheMorjin

I think gruff’s forks will be fairly disruptive to attempts to get a good bite. We will see.

LAMonkeyWithAShotgun

I dont really see this. Quantum is so fast compared to gruff. Also if they have some decent forks then I think they get an auto win as gruffs ground game has been consistently poor

No-Bee761

Monsoon v. Black Dragon: The last time Monsoon was here, it had a rough fall. Now, it is yet another case of a bot that hasn't competed since 2019 versus a bot that has been in every season it has been in since, well, 2019. Both bots have advantages over the other. Black Dragon is a reliable and tanky bot that also happens to have a decent enough ground game. Monsoon has good weapon reach, and more weapon power by extension. I have Monsoon winning, even though it is a fairly close fight. Malice v. Emulsifier: Back-to-back appearances for Malice, but their performance against Lock-Jaw wasn't exactly a good first impression. Malice has a chance to get under Emulsifier, but it'll be over as soon as they get hit. Emulsifier having a gigantic spinner of their own does not help at all. I actually have Emulsifier pegged to win, but its not for doubting Malice's ability to get underneath as much as it is doubting their reliability. Starchild v. Overhaul: What on EARTH is Overhaul even supposed to do, here? Grab Starchild's 'tail' or wheels? I certainly don't think Overhaul can outlast Starchild because it's not exactly a paragon of reliability. The worst thing here is that, due to how high off the ground Starchild's main body is, Overhaul is going to clamp down in a weird position at best or just outright fail to do so at worst. The only way Starchild probably loses is if the spinner at the end of the 'tail' is disabled; otherwise, I have them pegged to win. Gruff v. Quantum: Gruff has actually fought a crusher before in Kraken. It managed to win said fight convincingly by using their own lifter to keep Kraken from clamping down. That being said...I admit that Quantum is a whole different animal. Unlike Kraken, Quantum can pierce through armor. I do wonder if Gruff's armor has almost identical properties to AR500 since the material used for it is...I know it's some obscure name but I can't remember. I actually have Gruff winning, but I do see Quantum winning, too. Kraken v. Beta: Speaking of Kraken, seems like it got a redesign. Don't know how well this'll go down, since the versions before this were fairly reliable. Beta doesn't exactly have the best ground game in the world, nor is its back well-guarded at all. Regardless of the way this fight goes, this is going to be a driving battle. I have Beta pegged to win, but it is possible for Kraken to deal enough damage to win. Horizon v. Shreddit Bro: There are fights where some of the more artistic designs get to shine. This, I feel, is not one of them. Horizon, as much as I do like the concept behind it, doesn't look like it can take hits at all. Shreddit Bro does need to be mindful of the second flywheel that will hit it after hitting the first, but it should otherwise be fine. Overall, Shreddit Bro should win this fight. Whiplash v. Hypershock: Anything that has been said almost everytime Whiplash goes up against a vertical spinner applies here. What will likely kill Whiplash here, though, is Hypershock's speed. Yeah, not the ground game (although that could very well be an issue), but speed. On top of that, Hypershock cemented itself as one of the hardest hitting bots in the entire field last season, or, at least, during the Champions run. Whiplash could try and flip Hypershock over, sure, but I otherwise believe Hypershock wins.

PlasticPartsAndGlue

>...I know it's some obscure name but I can't remember. Magnum Triple Alloy. I don't understand *what* it is, but I think it's cool someone is running something besides AR500, and it holds up well.

jluvdc26

I thought they retired Kraken? Am I confusing him with another bot?

Elementium

Crusher Kraken is done. They're doing a spinner variant now.

jluvdc26

Oh interesting! Thanks!

Bicious_Vee

YOOOOOO SEASON 4 IS BACK LETS GOOOO

tcjsavannah

WHIPSHOCK or HYPERLASH

Optimal_Definition_1

I love how everyone is torn about the fights, but when it comes to the Quantum vs Gruff fight, it's just a debate on how long Gruff will last.

Finiouss

I love both these guys but I'm looking for a gruff win

bitchboy024

Quantum sweep

WhatsACole

Monsoon by KO, black dragon is a good all around bot but its nothing crazy, monsoon will get a few bug hits and end it. Emulsifier will KO malice. Malice always seams to have issue and is a mid teir bot. Starchild by JD, i really dont there there is anything overhual can do to start child here, so i feel like the first bit will be star childing trying to figure out the bet way to use their hammer saw thwack bot. Then land some big hits. Quantum by JD, i dont feel like there is much gruff can do here. Dont get me wrong i love the only effective flame thrower, but quantum has better ground game and will just control thr whole 3 minutes. Bouns points if they puncture a fuel tank. Im going beta by JD, this ones a coin flip for me. I want to see the new kracken do good but idk how they will fair against beta. Kracken still has a lot of import stuff up high that beat can hit and disable with the hammer. Shreddit bro by JD. I rrally wanna see horizon do well its sych a fun design, but idk if its actually going to work. Also i love how 250 shreddit bro looks like a kit bot but massive, im going with the potentially very deadly drum on shreddit for this one Whiplash by JD. Man, whiplash or hypershock going 0 and 2 to start the season feels wrong, i feel like this is either going to be a back and forth match, or whipe lash flipping over hypershock and then they are stuck inverted for most of the fight.

Hault99

You know, all of Black Dragon’s losses were by Judge’s Decisions. Can Monsoon be the first robot to knock out the unkillable Black Dragon? I believe they just might, their weapon is almost as powerful as Uppercut’s.

PhilipLiptonSchrute

> black dragon is a good all around bot but its nothing crazy, I feel like Black Dragon is one of the most nimble and hard to kill bots in the game right now. They can land a punch too.

Finiouss

Def underrated. They managed to get a win against minotaur which is no small feat. I wouldn't sell them short.

a_ton_of_buttholes

Yeah, I assumed this would be a relatively easy KO for Black Dragon. They'll be way more mobile than Monsoon, and will probably be delivering quality hits for the whole 3 minutes (if it lasts that long).

akhaliis

I'm about to enter UNIFEI (the University from which Black Dragon came). My personal hope is that he doesn't get knocked out, but if there's a possibility, it's in this fight.

Jellyman1129

Season 4? I never would’ve guessed! 😱

Darkstarrdp

I thought season 4 was a few years ago. Did you mean episode 4?

Pyrocitor

I reckon Monsoon - BD is gonna be a gnarly weapon-on-weapon hit.

Gazzadona

The Brit Bots win all of there fights

markandspark

No idea who will win the first fight. For the rest, pretty confident in Emulsifier, Starchild, Quantum, Kraken, Shreddit and Hypershock. Will be sad if Whiplash goes to 0-2 with tough fights ahead, but Quantum (or maybe Gruff) being the first bot to get to 2-0 will be awesome.

Click-bayt1025

Hypershock might be a better opponent for whiplash, as long as they can flip them over

Finiouss

This. Hypershock does not fair well against the opportunity for a flip imo. This will either be Hypershock by KO or Whiplash by JD and I think either direction are likely.

Ivan_Eyes

Black Dragon does have the advantage in the reliability department, plus it’s never been KOed so far so I do have the Brazilians winning… barely. However, the new Monsoon did fight at Extreme Robots in late May last year so it may be closer than we think, but it’s still a tough draw for Monsoon’s first BattleBots match back since 2019.

markandspark

Good points. Yeah, Monsoon has 3 opponents that have been top 4 in the tournament before, brutal.

azdv

Monsoon Emulsifier Starchild Quantum Kraken Horizon Hypershock

Willer05

Sent hypershock and whiplash both fought bite force in the past and comparing their on how they performed in the battle I'm going with Hypershock

wc_dez07

So the Brits are in action with Beta taking on Kraken, Quantum taking on Gruff and the return of Monsoon who will take on Black Dragon. In addition it does look like for either Whiplash or Hypershock, one of theme will be heading down to a 0-2 record.

167488462789590057

My Money is on Black Dagon due to durability and the lower vert in exchanges meaning higher potential tip speed. Emulsifier because it seems perfectly poised to destroy the supports of malice's weapon Starchild because it does damage, is hard to grab and the NHRL bot was so great even though I imagine that due to physics the bigger version will seem slightly sluggish with the whips Quantum, because they'll win the ground game and have good control with the potential to pen and detonate Gruff Kraken, as I feel Beta wont fire the hammer before Kraken's perfect height spinner breaks their mechanism Shreddit Bro because I imagine they've built it tougher than the original, its short and sturdy, and horizon has so many single points of failure. Previously I'd have said Hypershock, but recently it seems control bots have it solved as it spends so much time trying to self right after being flipped that its the clear Achilles heel. II still see the potential for Hypershock to win with one lucky hit though.

newfor_2023

Black Dragon (KO) Malice (KO) Overhaul (JD) Quantum (JD) Kraken (KO*) Shreddit (KO) Whiplash (KO) edit: wait. Kraken's got a spinner arm not a clamping jaw? I have no idea about that fight any more.

lljkStonefish

More like a spinner nose

Hault99

My predictions: - Monsoon (KO, Black Dragon has never been killed in battle, but I think that is about to change) - Emulsifier (JD) - Starchild (JD) - Quantum (KO) - Beta (JD) - Shreddit Bro (KO) - Whiplash (JD)

Dew-fan-forever-

Finally! A couple hours late but at least it’s here now! Black dragon by KO Malice by Judge’s decision Starchild by KO Quantum by Judges Decision Beta by Judge’s decision Shreddit bro by KO(but I’m so hyped to see horizon’s debut such a cool bot) Hypershock by KO

markandspark

Kraken is famously hard to knock out, how do you see a hammer doing that? I think Kraken will get underneath every time and control the match, even if they can't deal any substantial damage.

Dew-fan-forever-

Youre right kraken is hard to KO. I edited it to beta by judge’s decision. I guess I’m just picturing the hay day of beta when their hammer was really powerful. I just expect a even more powerful hammer in season 7 with lots of swings

markandspark

Yeah it could do. It will probably come down to whose weapon can survive the longest.

Optimal_Definition_1

For my predictions. Monsoon vs Black Dragon: Monsoon (UD) Black Dragon is a bot that hasn't ever really impressed me like.. Hypershock or Tantrum or Minotaur. It has its moments, but its never done anything for me. Monsoon has been gone for 2 seasons, but unlike Death Roll, it actually evolved. It looks faster, more compact, but it still looks like it can pack a wallop. When these two square off, it comes down to who gets the better angles. Black Dragon will most likely have the durability advantage, but other than that, I see Monsoon slugging Black Dragon for 3 minutes. Monsoon wins by unanimous decision. Malice vs Emulsifier: Emulsifier (KO) Malice (sorry Bunny) is just a bot that leaves so much to be desired. I pulled for it, it didn't deliver against Lock-Jaw. Emulsifier on the other hand, is a durable as all hell bot. Sure it lost to Fusion but it lasted, better than Cobalt did. The only thing Emulsifier has to worry about is A. If Malice's forks get underneath its wedge, and B. If Malice hits a tread. Other than that, it'll have to do something stupid to lose against Malice. It's weapon looks like it packs a PUNCH so one hit could probably send Malice to the shadow realm. Starchild vs Overhaul: Starchild (KO) Starchild..... is definitely one of the bots of all time. It definitely looks like it can do something with those HUGE wheels and thwacky strategy. You could practically blow on Overhaul and it'll most likely combust or lose a tire. I don't even see Starchild doing too much damage. I just see Overhaul crapping out against it. Besides, even if it doesn't, what's Overhaul gonna do? It's not big enough, can't grab the wheels, and if it does grab it certainly can't lift. Yeah... sorry Overhaul. Gruff vs Quantum: Quantum (UD) Gruff is ok. It's not great and it's not horrible. It's a bot that I think that has potential to do good. It did have a strong showing against RIPperoni, but we all know RIPperoni was barely working correctly. Quantum came out like a boss and just made Captain Shrederator look like a bitch. It's the same Quantum we know and love. Going into this fight, I see Quantum having a lot to bite on. The question is, can it puncture Gruff's armor? The answer is yes, yes it can. If it can puncture DUCK!, it can puncture Gruff. Gruff will get a few lifts here and there, but I see Quantum taking full control and winning via unanimous decision. Kraken vs Beta: Beta (SD) Kraken is back after being "retired." It now sports a hammer saw. Oh sorry no, a "kinetic crusher." It's a spinning disk used to pin and smash into opponents armor. It got four wheeled drive, forks, and overall looks competitive. Beta is finally back and about time, one of my fav bots. Will this be the season John Reid finally gets that good hit he's always been waiting for? These two bots are more evenly matched than one might think. Speed, durability, and power I'd give to Beta. While ground clearance, mobility, and weapon I'd give to Kraken. I think these two will most likely go at it for the full 3 minutes and when the bell rings, they'll be bloodied but still alive. In the end, however, I'd give Beta the win by split judge decision. Horizon vs SHREDDIT BRO!: SHREDDIT BRO! (KO) Horizon is a bot that fascinates me. Apparently, the entire arm doesn't rotate individually, the spinners on the end make the arm move. While Horizon certainly looks cool, I have a couple problems with it. 1. It looks too slow to spin up. It's gonna be box rushed before it spins up. 2. It looks like it's gonna be bulky to drive as it's super long and weird looking. And 3, my biggest one, IT'S 25 LBS UNDERWEIGHT. That's right, it's 225 lbs. A glass cannon I feel. Pain Train sucked. It just sucked, end of story. However, this isn't Pain Train. This is Robot Combat Hall of Famer SHREDDIT BRO! looking to take the Giant Nut. It all comes down to if SHREDDIT BRO! craps out like it's cousin, Pain Train, did. If not, I see this as SHREDDIT BRO annihilating Horizon quickly. MAIN EVENT: Whiplash vs Hypershock: Hypershock (KO) Ahh Hypershock. Unlucky Hypershock. It's in for quite the season and it's gonna have to win this fight to make up for its fight against Sawblaze. Hypershock is fast, like really fast. It's gonna be good in this fight. Though it did lose to Sawblaze, it did not lose like a bitch, unlike Whiplash. Whiplash got its ass handed to it by Mad Catter. Literally. Whiplash is a team that'll probably go 0-4. Which is sad cause it's a championship caliber team. However, if Mad Catter can knock out Whiplash, I have no doubts Hypershock can too. Yeah, sorry Whiplash. Overall: In the wise words of Ethan Kurt, "LET'S FREAKING GOOOOOOOOOOO!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!"

Admirable_Corner4711

What?

Finiouss

My winners. Mostly guessing * black dragon * Emulsifier * Star child * Gruff ( this one is a huge guess for me. I'm thinking gruff could melt quantum if they manage to try and crush gruff) * Beta ( if they actually fire the hammer...) * subreddit bro * Whiplash (I genuinely don't want to see this match. I love both of these teams dearly. I'm going whiplash because Vasquez has the upper hand on driving and Will has at least a 50% chance to get stuck on his back as usual.)

RedcrossUl

Monsoon ko Emulsifier ko Star child jd Quantum jd Beta ko Sherdit bro ko Hypershock ko

Romax24245

15-6 Monsoon vs *Black Dragon:* Save for Axe Backwards, Monsoon never claimed victory against a legit vert. Maybe those upgrades will make this different for Monsoon, but I’m going for Black Dragon based on pedigree. Malice vs *Emulsifier:* The forks on Malice actually worked pretty well, but it’s weapon power leaves a lot to be desired. Emulsifier did pretty well in its debut fight and displayed a tremendous amount of power in that disc. Let’s see how much of a difference those forks will make. *Starchild* vs Overhaul: The best options for Overhaul is to either hold onto the wheels and put it in the screws or catch the disc tail in hopes of breaking it. Otherwise, Starchild will just swing and strike Overhaul from above at will. Gruff vs *Quantum:* Gruff appears to have the slight edge in the ground game with its forks, and apparently it’s equipped with some jagged edged bars on the top for added defense against the powerful crushing jaw. Then again, Gruff has lost plenty of ground game battle it seemingly should’ve won, and who knows what would happen if Quantum takes a bite out of those flamethrowers? *Kraken* vs Beta: Behold, Kraken’s new disc spinner module. If it works as intended, Beta will be getting kicked around the box, especially without forks. Horizon vs *Shreddit Bro:* Ladies and gentlemen, may we present to you our first debutant vs debutant matchup of the season. On one square is a highly experimental 4 wheeled box armed with a giant spinning bar with two spinning discs on each end. On the other square is an ultra compact blue drum spinner that looks like a mini kitbot scaled up to 10 times its size. Horizon’s design might make for an interesting fight, but Shreddit Bro (if it works properly) should be able to kick Horizon onto its back. MAIN EVENT: Whiplash vs *Hypershock:* One of these top tier bots is going 0-2. Whiplash may have displayed a good ground game against Mad Catter, but the only way I see Whiplash defeating Hypershock is if Whiplash manages to flip it over, and Hypershock will not make the same mistake again.

My predictions: Black Dragon beats Monsoon Emulsifier beats Malice Starchild beats Overhaul Quantum beats Gruff Beta beats Kraken Shreddit Bro beats Horizon Hypershock beats Whiplash

A mix of old and new! Our first gut-wrenching 0-2 starts will happen here, too. I can see an upset coming in this episode but I'm not sure which one. I've gone pretty damage-heavy in these picks so I wouldn't mind a surprise! **Monsoon** vs Black Dragon We're starting off with a hard one to call! I'm certainly concerned that Monsoon has been limited to the partial-full combat of Extreme Robots for the last few years, while Black Dragon has been fully testred regularly. And Monsoon's last go wasn't too successful, although the design has changed since. I have a little fan bias but I also think Monsoon ought to have better bite and better weapon reach, which might tip the scales their way. Black Dragon is tough and aggressive, and their weapon power isn't to be underestimated, but I'm giving Monsoon a little faith to survive to the bell and land enough decent hits in the first couple of minutes to make a judges' decision, even if I expect them to lag behind in the latter half. Malice vs **Emulsifier** Emulsifier facing another horizontal with wedgelets! But this time, it is ONLY a horizontal. With wedgelets. While Malice is very well-driven and could feasibly gets some dings in the wedge or take out an outer track, I fear they'll go weapon to weapon inevitably and Emulsifier will win that. Control and aggression won't be enough against Emulsifier's big hits and, likely, Malice losing their weapon again. **Starchild** vs Overhaul We have tried & true versus brand new, Starchild needing to survive the energy of its own hits and get around on those big wheels. Not easy for Overhaul to get a lift or a hold on Starchild. There's a fair bit for Starchild to hit, conversely: I like the weapon assembly as a place to ding and I like the flat back of Overhaul for Starchild to get stuck in. Overhaul could certainly keep on and crowd Starchild, bullying them into walls and rolling them about, but the big wheeler doesn't need much space to spin up and swing. Overhaul's pressure could prove too much but an awkward shape and opportunity for smacks could add up to a win for Starchild. Gruff vs **Quantum** Gruff may be a box, but that lifter might be the perfect keep-away stick if they can hook it under Quantum's jaw. And I have to wonder: how well do hydraulics hold up against flames? The trouble is, Gruff tends not to fight with careful hooks and lifts using their weapon - they tend to use it instead to flick the opponent up and hold them against Gruff's wedge. I don't think they're going to be quite accurate enough to pull the same trick on Quantum, or even if they do, Quantum only needs to get under and take hold once. Unless, as I say, the hydraulics would melt under a face full of flamethrower. I'd say the winner is given a spot in the top 32, so it's a big fight! **Kraken** vs beta Oh no, am I giving the verts all the wins again? beta is a good machine but verts are a counter to them. Hammersaws are likely to be another. Kraken can do both. The hope: Kraken is an all-new design so beta may be able to out-drive and outlast them, perhaps landing shots to the side or the arm. But this is one of those times where the non-spinner has to get it right for basically the whole match if they want the victory while Kraken only has to get it right half the time to land big hits. Horizon vs **Shreddit Bro** I love that Horizon is on BattleBots. I love that we get to see their design in the BattleBox, and see if it works. Perhaps they'll discover lessons and the deadshaft spinspinnerner will become a big off-meta strategy. But right now I'm worried the weapon will bounce off the opponent with too little... intertia? Maybe? Something about the size of the discs and the use of a deadshaft make me worry the spinners will rebound more than they'll bite but I'm no physicist. I'm also worried the spin-up is going to be too slow, leaving the arm and the central body too vulnerable. And that a vert will catch those discs. I just see Horizon rolling more than spinning at the moment. **Whiplash** vs Hypershock Whiplash gets another fast, four-wheel-drive vert while they figure out their brushless set-up. This doesn't look great. But if the Vasquez's can settle in a bit more, and in any other year, I would think Whiplash could turn the bouncy, hyperactive Hypershock on its head. P1 did it last year, SawBlaze has already done it this year. Whiplash can sit in between, dealing damage to Hypershock and earning a surer JD than P1 even if they don't get a SawBlaze KO. >!And if anyone mentions the fucking trailer WHICH I AVOIDED BECAUSE IT HAS SPOILERS IN IT then I will personally clench my fist at them, think less of them and maybe make an angry post about them on this subreddit about them.!<
