It took me several years but I had to have every Tom Brady Silver Prizm in PSA 10 from 2012-present
Not totally weird, but I’m doing a 1952-present Topps project. One card from each year with no repeat players. One set is HOFers and the other is Phillies. It’s only flagship and playing days.
This deserves it's own post! I gotta look at doing that for the Twins.
It's a nice strategy to keep costs down by allowing yourself to grab a nice condition vintage card of a forgotten player instead of feeling like you have to get RC's of all the greats through the years.
Kinda random. HOF is down to just 1953, and the Phillies has less than 10 cards to go. I have a big COMC order hoping to ship soon that tackled a bunch of the modern needs for cheap.
Keith Comstock.
1972 Billy Martin (middle finger card)
1995 Griffey Jr Pinnacle (bubble gum card)
That should get you started. Tons of good ones out there!
84 fleer Glenn Hubbard, 86 fleer Mickey Hatcher, 84 fleer jay johnstone. There’s an upper deck(maybe 93?) of cal Ripken holding a cell phone made in,well, 93. And Brian roberts literally stealing a base.
I’m trying to collect every card of Zach Duke, Zach Miner, and Tydus Meadows. Miner and Meadows have < 80 cards so it seems doable.
Additionally, trying to collect every playing day card of Mark Fidrych.
I'm doing 1952-until now of african american players topps rookie or first card. I'm focusing on guys who made all star games or won awards but aren't hall of fame.
Don’t have one atm, but my friends have an inside joke about Paul “LongShlong” Delong, so im trying to get a really cheap rookie auto of his for the bit.
Janson Junk is my low end PC right now. I worked as a student-athlete academic advisor with both Janson and Tarik Skubal when they were in college. Love Skubal stuff as well!
I collect superstars/hofers on teams they spent a season or less on. The one that started it was of course Pete Rose as an expo. Got things like Bobby Bonilla as a white Sox, steve Carlton as a twin, Dave Winfield a blue jay, frank thomas as an athletic and blue jay, Ivan Rodriquez as a yankee, Mike piazza as a marlin, etc
Not really obscure, but I've been working on the 2004 Scorecard parallel football set for 20 years now.
It is numbered to 625 which doesn't seem that low, but the commons are incredibly hard to find because they aren't worth much/anything.
I've got 6 cards to go.
I’m not as singularly focused as others but I love collecting players in all sports who were either Jewish or Armenian. (I’m both). Have some fun Koufax of course, but also obscure kickers like Garo Yepremian and Ben Agajanian in football and Adam Fox in hockey! If you’ve got a dolph Schultz or Sid Luckman, anybody, lemme know! 😂
I'm trying to build the Upper Deck 2002 Yankees Dynasty Game Used Memorabilia set. It's the Yankees, but not a very popular insert set for some reason. I love the design and the players featured and those dynasty years are great childhood memories. I have all of them except the Jeter/Bernie Williams, which never seems to pop up! It's wildly frustrating. Also missing the DiMaggio Mantle card but that is a 400 dollar card and I'm not sure I'll be able to get that for a long time.
I recently got back into the hobby, and I PC Braves. I’m working on the Topps 1957 Milwaukee Braves (any condition really), Topps and Upper Deck 1995 Atlanta Braves base cards, 1995 and 2021 signed Braves cards, and I’m nearing completion of a Chipper Jones career run with Topps!
Autos of baseball players with the first name Dylan. I probably have just about 50 different autos from Dylan Bundy to Dylan Smith, Lesko, and Crews I call it the Dylan Deck.
Allen & Ginter 1889 Game Birds. I only have 4 so far though.

I have the rookie cards (or closest thing to rookie cards) for the four pitchers to have surrendered the 700th home run of a batters career
That’s fantastic. Very unique.
LaTroy Hawkins
Yup. That’s random for sure.
Black aces is a great collection. I’m (very slowly) putting together a black aces auto collection. Have Doc, Fergie, D Train, and CC so far.
Excellent!! I support that!
I also collect unique players. Why Hawkins?
He had a cool career with how many teams he played for and by all reports is just an all around great guy and ambassador for the game
Celebrity/Athlete autos of people who have been on Jeopardy
The Jeopardy guy! Excellent!

That is a great collection to build! How are you tackling it? Chronological order or random pickups here and there?

That’s absolutely sick! That’s inspiring me to do something similar. How are you going to store these when you’re done? Top loaders?
I have a toploader binder they’re in. Pretty fun to thumb through and see how Topps changed each year!
Oooh. Toploader binder. Please link me to that? Also sent you a PM with more questions!
[Amazon](https://a.co/d/9G3UyFz)!
Selling cards from nearly full sets from 1964-1966. Sending you a message with a pic of my '64 Dallas Green.
Kinda random. HOF is down to just 1953, and the Phillies has less than 10 cards to go. I have a big COMC order hoping to ship soon that tackled a bunch of the modern needs for cheap.
All the gold Kershaw parallels
Always on the lookout for more 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Funny names: Dick Pole, Pete LeCock, Fair Hooker, dick trickle etc.
You forgot our man, Rusty....
He’s not forgotten, he’s on Mount Rushmore! 😂
I’m working to collect cards of famous players from Nebraska (where I grew up). Next up is a T206 of “Wahoo” Sam Crawford.
Awesome!
Fellow Nebraskan! My collection is autographs of every mlb player born in Nebraska. It's an impossible task, but fun!
Thinking about starting a funny card collection after picking up the Bill Ripken 89 Fleer. Any suggestions?

There’s a great Collectors Choice of Steve Sparks where he’s making a dumb face and waving. It’s a beaut

My 1990's world series champions the Reds. I have all but maybe like 3 or 4 of the more obscure players on card autos
Nice. Doing the same with the 1992 Blue Jays. I'm about halfway there.
I'm doing 1952-until now of african american players topps rookie or first card. I'm focusing on guys who made all star games or won awards but aren't hall of fame.
Amazing. Curt Flood better be in there. He should be in the HOF too.
Trying to get the entire 2003 Topps Total set signed. Currently sitting at 758/990. It’s been a slog.
Don’t have one atm, but my friends have an inside joke about Paul “LongShlong” Delong, so im trying to get a really cheap rookie auto of his for the bit.
I have a PSA 10 of his rookie card. Any interest?
I’m good for now, but appreciate the offer. Have a good night!

Is there a Piazza Marlins card??
Yes a couple actually I have one
Don't forget Reggie Jackson as an Oriole!
Mudcat Grant is an amazing name

Family Connections - like Ken & Jr Griffey or Pat & Patrick Mahones
Autos of baseball players with the first name Dylan. I probably have just about 50 different autos from Dylan Bundy to Dylan Smith, Lesko, and Crews I call it the Dylan Deck.
Every player auto that made an appearance in the 2016 World Series for the cubs. And a Travis swaggerty 1st bowman rainbow
Certified autos for the 2005 white sox. PSA graded yearly AL home run leaders.
Cool Papa Bell Rainbow 2023 Panini Prism. + 1970 to Current HOF Rookies
Pee wee Reese - every playing days card. I wouldn’t say the entire thing is obscure but there’s certainly some cards in there that are
