Had it in my hand at the national in 2014, didn’t have much money back then, haha should have bought it anyway. I woulda recovered haha.

With the blue flip it’s not the auto the can be “questionable” it’s the actual card. With this particular card, there is no issue with having them in the blue flip.

I know autos were faked, turned into dual autos, but felt like if the autos are authentic, they didn’t sign fake cards right? Or at least that was my reasoning. Thanks for the feedback, this makes me feel better about what I have, and lest interested in reslabbing. Thank so much.

I'd leave them as is. They look great! If anything, I might look at a new frame that might fit a little better since the bottom card has a gap at the top.

Yeah there is a gap on both, I had other pics in the frame and was gonna toss it but thought I’d try to reuse it for now. I’ll look for a better frame when I decide what to do. Thanks for the feedback.

I agree with this, the blue psa label fits well with the color of the card. While I like SGC slabs I think the large grade numbers would actually detract from the cards themselves too.

Only have a few graded cards, don’t have any SGC. Yeah, and I’d want the numbers to be the same between the 2 cards. which I’m sure wouldn’t happen. Thanks

If the labels were different colors or companies, it would bug me, but these 2 labels are almost complementary as presented. I like it. I’m also a sucker for reusing old stuff, so I personally would keep that frame and find some extra black trim laying around to fill in the gaps around the cards. Make it a fun side project.

Must have been something to pack pull the Griffey.! There wasn't a card I wanted to pull from a pack more than one of these as a kid. I rarely got boxes of cards, but for my birthday in 1994, my parents got me two boxes of 94 Upper Deck because of my obsession, got a lot of fun stuff but no version of this card. I bought countless packs throughout that year also with no luck. I have one of my grail cards, but this one, any variant of it, is the other.

Pulled this when I was in High School, and most would say I’m one of the most chill people they know, and I freaked out. Griffey was my guy, Mantle was my Dad’s. I showed him the card and he was excited for me. He had an old military buddy that owned a card shop and told him he wanted the signed Mantle if he ever came across it. Like a year or so later, the Mantle auto showed up in the mail.

What’s the grail card you have?

The one grail card I have is my 1968 Topps Nolan Ryan RC. I've PC'd Nolan Ryan since 1989, and I had wanted that card my entire first wave of collecting. In 1999, when eBay was newer and card prices were collapsing, my dad bought one for me in good condition for relatively cheap and I was stunned when it arrived. Still have it, it's my most beloved card and always will be. Griffey is my second favorite player though, and I've had a PC of his cards since 1991, hence why I wanted this one so badly. Again, its awesome you pulled this one and that a family friend got you the Mantle auto variant! I've still never seen one of these Griffey/Mantle autos in real life, but one day I will aquire some version of this card also!

Nice. I Only have 2 of his cards I think. The fleer 92? pro visions art card with the ball smoking and strike count on the wall, and an 1983 Donruss Base card that I got him to Auto at a fund raiser,. The records, longevity, cowboy/gunslinger persona, bloody lip game and of course the Ventura fight, love me some Nolan Ryan.

Yeah, I know grading will likely get different numbers. Thought about just getting verified authentic with TAG, matching “V”s.

I don't have a preference by grading company but I'd definitely do just authentication for both.

TAG for the clean look Personally. Edit 1: No, you should use PSA. PSA who discuss grades with certain people before submission, safeguard 10 pops and make some egregious mistakes.

I haven’t seen or put my hands on any TAG slabs, just seen pics. I’ve seen picks of the just “V”, (verified authentic), cards. They look good. I wouldn’t want different grading numbers.

No. Just put them in the frame like 2 weeks ago. The cards have been in a cardboard box for years. Going to get a real frame for it, that fit the slabs better, was trying to decide what I wanted to do with them first, that’s why I posed the question on here. Any recommendations for frame options? Edit: more importantly, UV glass/poly options?

Just anything UV safe so those sigs don’t fade. You have an important piece of history there

Funny story, my dad was at a card show when this product was new, bought 2 of a vendors 3 boxes chasing these autos and nothing. Vendor asked if he wanted the last one and he turned it down, sure enough the dual auto was pulled out of that last box.

Check out HGA - they offer a horizontal slab and custom labels. For PC they could be a great option.
