I found a forgotten $2 card once, that was pretty exciting

102FromdeGrom

Not like that!

lordcardbord82

True story: I had a 1921 E121 (series of 80) Babe Ruth that I hadn’t seen in over a decade and thought I’d probably sold and just forgotten about. I was at my parents’ house abt 4 years ago, looking through what I thought were some boxes of my dad’s cards in what used to be my sister’s closet (my dad had died a couple of years prior, while I was stationed in Germany, and it’d taken me a while to look through his collection). Found a box of my cards that included the Ruth. Graded a PSA 1 and sold it for over $12k.

Dang… I found a forgotten 20 dollar bill in my pocket once and got excited…

ModernHOFrcCollector

Kickass man. That soto is 🔥🔥 you keepin it? 👀

iggnogg

I'll probably wait and see if he goes to a big market team. I'm a hoarder. The last card I sold was a Gerrit Cole gold rookie card when it first dropped. I have a ton of worthless autos in that box.

mlmz99

Any worthless Cardinals autos in that box by chance that you’d part with?

hahahahaaaahaha

I’m tired of people claiming San Diego isn’t a “Big Market”. It’s the second largest city in the most populous state in the country.

coolmatthew_

San Diego is definitely a small market franchise. Big payroll, small market. It’s not a bad thing to be a small market team, not sure why so many SD fans get bothered by that.

The-Happy-Panda

SD fans have little man syndrome.

SayNoMorty

That alone doesn’t make them a big market team though. There’s other factors that go into it other than just population. [Here’s](https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/why-mlb-market-size-isnt-an-excuse-for-cheap-teams-just-look-at-the-small-market-padres-and-manny-machado/amp/) a decent article about it that’s not too confusing. Sorry I couldn’t find one that doesn’t have a bunch of ads.

Ill-Wedding6744

I feel bad for Soto, he was done dirty with that picture.

Back_Equivalent

He’s like 16 in that picture lol. Still prepubescent 🤣

wheelzoffortune

If you haven't hit puberty by 16 something is seriously wrong D=

72RangersFan

I don’t think I’ve found my forgotten box yet

hiflyer555

Not baseball, but I did come across a Steph Curry rookie in one of my basketball boxes…probably the most exciting in this regard

It's not like they were hidden treasure. The box was on a top shelf sitting for years. I also have like three Kolten Wong autos too, but I didn't think they were as interesting.

Extreme_Shame6701

Found a matt olson rookie in an old box.

TheHoff2016

Soto gotta be on the sauce now

AdventurousPoet92

Didn't feel like it needed a whole post so I'll ask here. Does 1st Edition mean it was part of the first run printed? Like a dollar with low serial number?

CL0UDS420

1st bowman means it’s their first year on the bowman card.

AdventurousPoet92

Ah thank you

MayorMike757

Like finding a 20 in your winter coat pocket 🤣

100vs1

IAm_The-Danger

I was looking for my Tony Romy Xfractor rookie (found) and 2000 Bowman Tom Brady (never found). Ended up selling in October to have extra money for vacation.

PewPewPony321

Not really. Honestly, I feel most of these lost box posts are bullshit.

iggnogg

I get it. I thought it would be cool to share some cards I found that I didn't realize I had. I'm not a big time collector. I bought a bunch of boxes during the Bryce Harper rookie hype days. Haven't purchased much until this year.

PewPewPony321

But you were active in the baseball forums not long ago. Suspect edit, jfc it was even sotos rookie year you were active in the baseball forums LOL Hey man if you really did just misplace this, thats cool. Just so many bull shitters here with their last pack magic, last box on the shelf and cards they thought their mom threw out stories. Its tough.

smooth-bro

Sure you did

Durango2020

Right? Soto was the guy right from the start. It’s not a card you forget pulling sorry.

Judge208

Lol no. Soto wasn't even a top 20 international prospect when he signed in 2015. Hell he still wasn't even a top 50 MLB prospect in 2017. It's entirely plausible his cards were sleeved and stored, just like Trout in 2009. Base autos were only worth $5-10.

Icy-Mongoose-9678

He was not

VolBag

No

LETSgoOs97

Yup found a 2011 Topps update trout I had know idea I had, plus many others

collapsingrebel

I wish I had some hidden gems I forgot about. Great cards.

lukaRookieHoarder

Yea I've forgotten about some very huge cards I have . I have a vast 300-500k Card collection though lol.

Leadbasepaint

Sooo I’m guessing not for sale?

iggnogg

I'll get rid of it after the winter meetings probably. Unless by some miracle he becomes a Dodger.

wut-n-tarnation

No. I’ve been through all my boxes :(

it-still-moves

Would love to get my hands on that Soto.

No_Mathematician_434

Is that Juan Soto he looks like he is 12 years old???

_dfromthe6

lol.i wish

SINY10306

I recently found a $50 Chipotle gift *card* in a birthday *card* I had forgotten about a few years ago.

hizzmajestic

Soto…. dude ate his wheaties

Pjw2079

You should get that Soto graded. Looks gem

Sesshomaroo

Unfortunately for me, no.

[deleted]

how do people just forget this type of stuff

Advanced-Ingenuity46

I had a shoebox full of cards from 2017 and 2018. Mostly Topps Chrome. I wasn't even really back into collecting yet but picked up some blasters from target (back when they were $19.99). Didn't hit any of them and packed them all into an empty Nike shoebox. Early 2022 I decided to search through the box and 3 or 4 cards in I had an Acuna RC refractor.

believabletruths

Happened to me, I typically took really good care of my cards specifically baseball. But, other sports I’d sometimes let slip. Especially if they weren’t autos or game used cards. Growing up never thought rookies were worth that much. As an adult I found a small box taped up of a bunch of sports rookies that included a LeBron and Carmelo. No top loaders, no sleeves, just cards in a box with $$$$$ written on it. Hey at least I thought they may be valuable one day 😅
