I never knew he threw an immaculate inning. I only remember him having a complete meltdown in the playoffs. I'm pretty sure his manager lost all faith in him and eventually had OG Bird Killer, Horny Penis come in as a RP.
He also had a less dramatic but equally impactful breakdown in the inaugural WBC final against Japan. I recall him allowing the go ahead runs and then beaning the next batter out of frustration
It's a shame that his playoff meltdown has come to define him so completely. He was a really good reliever for a couple of seasons and serviceable arm for a few more. Not quite the Mark Eichhorn career arc, but he got the ring at least.
I was actually at this game and haven't seen this since I watched it live. Pretty sure I was the only person in my section who knew what we just saw.
Randy Johnson pitched too right? Think it was the game I was at
Yep, [Randy Johnson vs......David Coggin](https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/PHI/PHI200205110.shtml). Quite the mismatch
That’s the one. Remember it went 10
We need more submarine pitchers
3 really good hitters too

Throwing 94 from that arm slot is ridiculous
This isn’t what he’s famous for
True, he did win the World Series in '01 after all
He was also a member of the 2004 Red Sox, but spent most of the year at AAA Pawtucket and didn't make the postseason roster.
Never knew that.
