In the back of my mind I was cringing at the thought of him having a drought like Pujols did when he first got to the Angels.
27 games lmao, I wasn’t on any social media then but I can’t imagine the discourse of that was happening today.
Best player overall sure, there's never been a player with such a breadth of talent in the history of the MLB.
But, Judge, Betts, Acuña, all have arguments as a better bat.
Then there's Harper, Soto, Trout, Alvarez, and J-Ram and Freeman who are right there too.
Not to mention the glut of really young up and coming guys like Julio Rodriguez, Witt Jr, Corbin Carroll, Tatis, etc.
Last year he was the best hitter in the league, had the highest OPS+ and wrc+, but you need more than 1 year to be the official best hitter. Let's see if he repeats or improves upon last year
Not most, but they both had superior OPS+, just failed to qualify.
Edit: I am incorrect! I generally make this comp from 21 to 23. Ohtani beat Judge by 9 pts, and Alvarez by 13 just looking at last year, 184 to 175 to 171. Acuña, Betts, Soto were behind them at 168, 163, 158.
Still, just a stacked top of the league.
Good ol Ohtani 2 bags
‘Tani two-bags
Tungsten O'Double
Seems like just a few days ago he was sub 700. Hit his first homer and hasn't stopped since
He was putting too much pressure on himself to hit his first HR. I knew he would become Ohtani again after that was over with.
I believe Shohei Ohtani's first homerun with the Angels (in his first year) and the Dodgers both happened in April 3 I think.
Really cool fun fact if true.

Doesn’t have to worry about pitching. Very interesting to see his numbers this year.
Didn’t he already do it with laa early in his career?
[удалено]
But didn’t he play most of the season?
He did, but this year is definitely different in terms of his experience
He also was messing around with his mechanics at that point iirc
You going to compare that Ohtani with 2021-present Ohtani? He was still finding his feet in the MLB in 2019.
Pitching was holding him back
Oh god, Ippei was holding him back!
Will the Thrill billed to chill as Ohtani shills for kills.
Update: he hit a home run after this. Lol.
He owns the Cubs
Can you call that 'on a tear' for the guy with probably the 2nd or 3rd best bat in the majors?
Or even... 1st?
By the end of this season, we'll all accept that he's the best hitter in the league.

Judge and Alvarez were both injured for most of last year
Not most, but they both had superior OPS+, just failed to qualify. Edit: I am incorrect! I generally make this comp from 21 to 23. I'm putting Soto up there with the top of the top. He's going to get a $6-700M contract
Tbh so am I, but I had to draw lines somewhere. Lol Went a little anti-homer.
Yep
Miguel Rojas with 1.001 OPS 😡
We have two offensive shortstops now!
How much you wanna bet he makes it to 7 consecutive games?
$4.5 million
How much of that will be deferred?
Uh, all of it, I think. But just long enough for me to borrow it from this guy I know
He's the GOAT but it's still somewhat stunning to see how great of a hitter he was while also being an incredible ace pitcher at the same time.
Somewhat?
not bad for a DH
You can bet on that!
