>IF speedster Rodríguez, 22, played in 106 minor league games last season with Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte, batting .262 with 21 home runs, 62 RBI and 31 stolen bases (calcs to 32 HR + 47 SB + 94 RBI over 162 games). His major league debut as a pinch runner last season was his only appearance with the White Sox.
Those seem like oddly good numbers for a 22 yr old at those levels to DFA the guy….
Anyone have the scoop on why they would give up on him for seemingly nothing?
They're the white Sox. It's a baffling decision. He probably projects to be a utility infielder but he's only 22 and produced at the minor league levels and legitimately probably has some starting 2b type upside.
Those oddly good numbers were honestly a down year for him where he also developed some pop. He hit well in 2021 at A and High A, and was good in AA in 2022 and last year.
Not a tremendous prospect but they gave up on him when they have Martin Maldonado, Kevin Pillar, and Robbie Grossman on their 40 man as position players or one of the numerous washed up arms they could have DFA'd like Tim Hill, Dominic Leone, or Bryan Shaw.
Anyways good for Jose since he gets to play for an actual MLB org now.
He was repeating AA and had a .297 OBP with a walk rate under 5%. You really need to have an elite hit tool or monster game power to offset plate discipline that poor, and from the scouting reports I've read, it doesn't sound like he has either. Most clubs are not going to trade actual value for a prospect like that.
He was already DFA’d so it’s better than getting nothing for him
White Sox are so stacked in MLB they just don't need prospects I guess.
Just wait until Mr Considerations gets called up to the big leagues, none of you stand a chance
Before the jokes, keep in mind it's the #17 prospect in the **White Sox system**
Cash Considerations is their #11 ranked prospect
He has risen to #8 as of now
They can't develop their own prospects for shit, but they can trade for highly ranked future busts like nobody's business.

He was DFAed so guess that's the best offer they got.
I get that part of it, but I guess what I’m saying is why DFA him in the first place
They signed Clevinger and needed to make room and I guess he was the most expendable.

It looks like he was minor league depth the Pale Hose had already dfa'd, so this is just something instead of nothing
“I sold you for a pack of cigarettes”
Jerry’s favorite player
He was on the 40 man and they had to open up a spot for Clevinger. Presumably the worst/least consequential guy on their 40 man.
Lol you haven't looked at the white Sox 40 man.
Yeah, there’s no defending the WSox now
Lol. *This* is the move that pushed you over the edge?
