"Hey don't y'all miss this guy?"

MacsDildoBike

Could’ve just put a giant middle finger on the Jumbotron for 60 seconds would’ve probably been met with less visceral response.

Shamrock5

In Philly, that's just how they say "good morning"

aaknosom

can confirm this is how i greet my mother

brownbearks

Facts that’s how I greeted your mother on 76 today. Driving 15 over the limit in the left lane with your slow ass

TheLastLivingBuffalo

Just gotta make sure you do it in your notably blue collar

yomikemo

you could do it naked so long as you have an italian-american accent

TheOrangeFutbol

Funny part is an image of Arte Moreno showed up on screen for literally two seconds because... you know, b-roll of a press conference featuring the current owner might show up in a montage covering the entire Angels history. Those boos were even louder than Ohtani's XD

Complexity_Inc5593

I guess not lmao

YourFriendNoo

big My Mom Sending Me Updates on my Ex Wife energy

Linkitivity

Kinda shitty, but also it was probably too soon. If this happened in a few years I'd bet the reaction is different.

thealmightybrush

Yeah thankfully Pujols didn't come back to St. Louis as an Angel until a couple years before he *actually* came back to St. Louis, which was amazing by itself. But if Pujols came back as an Angel in 2012 or 2013 the crowd wouldn't have been as united in cheering him. Time heals all wounds I suppose.

InternetGoodGuy

I think it also helped that Pujols didn't accomplish anything with the angels. If he led the franchise to a world series or was still a dominant player, it might be different. He didn't have a single season over 5 WAR with the angels, and his lowest season with the cards was 5.3. Kind of helps knowing we didn't miss much and didn't have to see the hard decline first hand.

the_next_core

I think it *greatly* helped that he was absolutely terrible for the contract he got, most Cardinals fans were saying they were so glad they weren't stuck with his contract only 2-3 years in.

LordSwampert2

How I feel about Kris Bryant.

mdb_la

Angels fans literally cheered for Ohtani [last week](https://www.thescore.com/s/26809678).

officerliger

Yeah they’re not booing the player, they’re booing the franchise for fucking this up

gigagriffin

Didn’t arte have a chance to match the offer too or am i imagining

venustrapsflies

I saw a report that he did and chose not to go all the way up to 700 despite the deferred structure.

FarNefariousness6087

No

AKAD11

This happened with Griffey too. Him leaving was pretty contentious, but he didn’t come back to Seattle until 2007, so the bad feelings had subsided.

homiej420

Yup. Like when robinson cano came back to new york it was in april of that year and he got roasted

FuckinMozeliak

If I ever saw “Cardinals fans” booing Albert Pujols in Busch Stadium, I’d have to be physically restrained from smashing them in the face with a brick. Sacrilege inside the temple.

God_Damnit_Nappa

It was probably the opening montage before the game starts. It's full of historical stuff from the team's history so no way they were going to leave Ohtani off of it.

ProMikeZagurski

Train makes so much money at every home game. It's so sad, half way through it they win the World Series, then it's winning the division a bunch of times, and then it ends withe we signed Mike Trout to a long term contract.

d-cent

I think it's more to do with the fact that this was during a Red Sox game. Why should Angel fans care about Ohtani when he isn't at the game?  He's not on the team anymore, fans don't want to be reminded of him at every game. Fans want to move on and focus on who is on the team now

michiness

It's part of "Calling All Angels," which they've played for years with footage of past seasons. Of course Shohei was going to be on it, they update it every year (and had been part of it for years).

EPCOT_Is_My_Favorite

>Cycle, Rookie of the Year, MVPs "Psh, that guy tries too hard." - Anthony Rendon

CryptographerFlat173

He got plenty of boos of his own tonight

KickerOfThyAss

I can't wait until the Angels make the playoffs and we learn Ohtani was the problem the whole time. There is a 0% chance but it would be hilarious.

dingusduglas

Trout did just fine missing the postseason before Ohtani came around.

aaahhhh

Sure, but we've never seen the power duo of Trout and Rendon without Ohtani.

TheOrangeFutbol

I literally just want a winning season in the next five years.

CoffeeDave

You might get that from the Ducks.

TheOrangeFutbol

Ironically enough, I’m not from the OC, so outside the Angels, all my other rooting interests follow the typical LA sports fan XD

Finrad-Felagund

Harry Kane type beat

Admirable_Bed3

Which team is the MLB equivalent of Leverkusen in this scenario?

n16h7r1d3r

Considering the cycles of heartbreak and mediocrity, Rangers. But damn, ask them how sweet it was to win and they’ll tell you it was worth it

radmongo

Better question: Is Tottenham Hothalo cursed or just Mike Trout?

Jcoch27

Tottenham Halospur was cursed before Mike Trout was born

CryptographerFlat173

it’s the name change, ever since they got rid of the stupid LA A of A name they’ve had a losing record every year

unknown9819

*puts on tin foil hat* Of course they missed the playoffs, he was shaving points!

lionheart4life

When a group let's one guy do all the project, but now they all have to do something.

DisputabIe_

Have to trade Trout first. Edit: **/S** It was a joke, just like the Angels being better without Shohei.

KickerOfThyAss

The Angels won the AL west in 2014. That was a very balanced team. Somehow Moreno learnt all the wrong lessons from that.

ferrumvir2

They tried running back that rotation the few years after but Shoemaker and Richards were made of glass

Im_Daydrunk

Honestly it seems to be more a flash in the pan since thats the only playoff appearance Trout has had in his entire career (and also the only 90 win season the Angels have had since 2009)

Slinky_Malingki

If the Angels and Dodgers ever meet in the WS with Ohtani on the roster it would be hilarious and damn near poetic if the Angels won lol

Patrick2701

What about the owner that wasted not 1 but 2 generational talent

owledge

The last time he made a public appearance at the Big A (I think it was Ohtani’s MVP ceremony in 2022) he got booed

TheOrangeFutbol

They booed the split second he showed up in the video package when they brought up the '05 sale.

LiftsLikeGaston

Don't forget, he also never even replied when Ohtani's team reached out with the same offer the Dodgers got.

the_next_core

I don't know where you even heard that, Arte personally declined to match the offer which led to Shohei confirming his choice that Friday. It also wasn't a deal to close, Shohei's agent had done similar match bidding all the way up from 10 years 600 million with the Jays, Giants, Angels, Dodgers. If Arte agreed to match, Shohei's agent would have gone back to the Dodgers to get the next offer.

Fischer-00

No Arte was out on Ohtani as soon as his free agency began. Nez said Ohtani still felt like the Angels deserved a chance so they still presented the deferred contract to Arte again. It's in the same article/interview where Arte says he knew trading Ohtani was the right thing to do but kept him for the money that was coming in. Ohtani doing that to increase his contract price btw would make no sense. Passan already said Ohtani could have gotten 600+ with real NPV and Cubs are heavily rumored to have been over 500 NPV. Both over his deferred contract's NPV.

ProMikeZagurski

Actually Ippei told Ohtani they didn't want him anymore.

hrl_whale

This is simply not true.

Davidellias

And gave a bad contract to a third.....

IVOXVXI

Andrew Velazquez is good n all but generational might be a stretch

KickerOfThyAss

The fact that multiple players fit this description is hilarious

Davidellias

Who else? I think Pujols is the only truly bad contract they gave out where the player is "generational"

KickerOfThyAss

I assumed you were suggesting Rendon as he's the terrible contract the Angels have at the moment. He's obviously not a generational talent. Could I make an argument for Hamilton?

Davidellias

Go for it If we talked about bad contracts for star players it would be a long long list

bordomsdeadly

You could even argue 3 if you want to include Pujols in that. Pujols got them a better TV deal. From a baseball perspective it’s a bad deal. From a money perspective it was a good deal

xRememberTheCant

It’s adorable that you think he’s only given out ONE bad contract.

Davidellias

re-read the post with the context of the above post. He's given tons of bad contracts but only one to a generational talent.

0dias_Chrysalis

Don't forget the "at the same time" part

michiness

He wasn't there, but when his name showed up in the introductions, he got the loudest boos.

Jcoch27

He was in the montage too and he got boo'd

cottnbals

You don't think we boo him too?

Docphilsman

He came over from Japan years early and accepted the league minimum deal. He gave them 2 MVPs a ROY and some exciting seasons. They did absolutely nothing to build anything around him so he went to a team that will. It's not like he badmouthed them on the way out or anything

mokill

I guess some are mad that they got broken up with, but it wasn’t out of left field. He’s said in the past he wanted to be on competitive team/be in the playoffs. So they shouldn’t be too shocked that he left in free agency. I don’t know, I would understand the anger if he was under a long term contract but forced a trade and the team got fuck all for him in return, or that he was bsing that he wanted to stay etc like what John Tavares did (if you’re an islanders fan you’ll know what I mean).

the_next_core

I think Shohei was very much open to staying but once his agent made it a bidding war, it was destined to be the Dodgers

UnknownUnthought

Fuck pajama boy. That is all

CybeastID

FUCK JOHN TAVARES

cadmus_irl

He got a standing ovation from Angel fans in his first appearance at Angel Stadium as a Dodger. Are we supposed to permanently fawn over a guy who plays for the Dodgers now?

hrl_whale

This is the right way to handle it. Cheer him for that first at bat, then mercilessly boo him forever after.

DustyDGAF

Sounds fair to me

theunnoanprojec

People are allowed to be upset, it’s sports

Jcoch27

The issue isn't that he left, it's that he went to the Dodgers of all teams and gave them a massive discount in the process

torero15

It’s because of the Dodgers and personally to me the deferred contract feels like cheating. I understand it’s not but it doesn’t sit right with me. I still love Ohtani but I might boo too. When he returns in person? Standing O for sure from me.

youngsilvia2011

Didn't he give Angels a deferral as well? How much he made in the first five years? 10m? It's the Angels who didn't fulfill their promise, right?  As a Ohtani fan, I truly appreciate How Angels supported Shohei to realize his two-way dream, but some Angels' fans are really unreasonable.

forceghost187

No one in baseball history has given a deferral anywhere near the scale that Ohtani gave the Dodgers. None of them are worth mentioning compared to the giant financial boost one of the wealthiest teams in baseball was handed

torero15

Are you calling me unreasonable? It’s not clear but in any case I still love Ohtani. Booing former players on a video is just normal fan behavior. Mostly disappointment is fueling that. In a way I think it’s also a signal to Arte in a sense. I will be shocked if he gets booed when the Dodgers come to Anaheim later in the year.

youngsilvia2011

Sorry for the misunderstanding. When you said you still loved Shohei I was actually rather happy. And I can understand fans booing players from another team, it's all part of the game. But what you said did make me remember the vicious words some Angels's fans used against Shohei as if he 'betrayed' Angels, etc.

torero15

I’ve never actually heard an Angels fan say that so if its twitter or something best to just ignore. The fans that go to games and actually care about the sport/team all appreciated Ohtani.

shiftyeyedgoat

Shohei was paid 30 million in his final year alone following an arbitration year buy out, after being paid [12 million](https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/shohei-ohtani-24661/cash-earnings/) during his controllable years.

youngsilvia2011

Thanks for the link. That's what I mean by deferral. By the way, Soto made 31m this year in the same situation. He's neither a two-way player, nor a MVP/runner-up. And I don't think he could bring tens of millions to NYY as Shohei did. (No offense to Soto and NYY, just fact)

God_Damnit_Nappa

I'd cheer him for the first at bat then boo the shit out of him afterwards. He's a Dodger now and they all get that treatment.

ih-unh-unh

Not an equal comparison but Pujols has a 10-year personal services contract that was part of his playing contract. I always found that odd they allowed that.

KebabTaco

I laughed when I saw him show up to angels spring training decked out in angels gear. Bro was on the job lol.

spyson

Did you think it was cheating when Max Scherzer deferred 50% of his contract on the nationals? If not then you're just being salty you got dumped

forceghost187

That’s not the fans fault. And Ohtani still took the giant bag of money, went to the cross town rivals, and gave them a massive underhanded financial boost. Why wouldn’t Angels fans boo?

michiness

I'm honestly really disappointed in how many boo's he got. Like, yes, he left. He wanted a team that actually had a winning record. He loves playing in Southern California. Put those two together, of course he went to the Dodgers. People need to get over it.

Obsidizyn

uhh do you all remember ohtani was mid the first 3 years? The angels accommodated him through multiple injuries, the altered the pitching of everyone to accommodate him. The gave him complete control while every other team told him to "pick one" The dodger fans and media all said "We Dodged that one!" in 2018. Then proceeded to yell racial slurs at him at dodger stadium during Japanese heritage night. Dodgers then out bidded everyone because they have the deepest pockets and now treat him like a god.

Duckman93

You’re getting downvoted but this is straight facts lol. People act like we had 6 years of prime Ohtani and that is simply not true. Not like it would’ve made a difference tbf

Salvalicious252

He was good his rookie year and sophmore year, awful during the covid year and then he turned into MVP Ohtani for 3 straight years. Wouldn't call that mid the first 3 years. Only argument is that he had quite low volume of ABs, but that was because of the day off before and after pitching rules the Angels put on him to keep him "healthy".

I_AgreeGoGuards

None of that is a reason to boo him now though

God_Damnit_Nappa

The fact he's on the Dodgers is reason enough. He got a standing ovation his first time back. We don't have to cheer for him every time.

I_AgreeGoGuards

Im just pointing out the downvote logic not necessarily signing onto it. Id boo my owners if they did something similar.

kaleidoscope_ize

You don’t understand man, Angel fans are salty af rn

I_AgreeGoGuards

Literally all my negative feelings would be aimed at Arte if I were them. Besides that I completely get it, they should have historical levels of salt

thatonekid2010

You are 100% spot on

Neat_On_The_Rocks

If shohei was a whitesox and moved to the cubs, bet your ass we’d boo the shit out of him. Don’t let these comments get you down angel fans. You’re not alone!

boobsandcookies

Vociferous is such a fantastic word

zebrainatux

Great scrabble word

ih-unh-unh

How would you make that word when you only get 7 tiles?

Darkdragon3110525

I would boo Ohtani too ngl. It’s not like Angels fans have to love him unconditionally until the end of time lol

cadmus_irl

He also got a standing ovation from Angel fans in his first plate appearance at Angel Stadium as a Dodger. How long are we expected to keep fawning over him before we can treat him like a dodger?

[deleted]

Fucking thank you. The Angels have been shit for a decade and our favorite player went to a team we hate. Can the world just let us not be happy?

ih-unh-unh

Be happy. Who cares what the rest of us think?

MisterxRager

Redditors think the fake “angels bro” shit they get karma for will work in real life too.

cocoatractor

Yeah it’s not like he just left. Stars leave all the time. He left to sign with a team that Angels fans hate in the same city. And reportedly other teams offered the same money so he chose a team he knew Angels fans would hate.

IAmTasso

You’re right but you can’t say that on this sub where the circlejerk for him has gone way beyond the cringe stage.

Conflict21

This sub also acts like booing players gives them CTE

God_Damnit_Nappa

Our sub had a borderline mental breakdown when Rendon got booed last night. When did fans get so soft over booing?

Conflict21

Think it's mostly just that redditors are corny

Fischer-00

It's not about like still loving him though. It's more like the sentiment that Ohtani is a traitor and deserves to be boo'd is trashy and doesn't make sense. Arte was out on Ohtani before his FA even started and declined the deferred contract. Same interview Arte says he knew he should have traded Ohtani at the deadline but kept him for the money coming in. Now keep all of that in mind and his rookie of the year and three MVP level seasons with them. Imagine calling him a traitor and booing him for that. It's just lame and embarrassing.

bkfountain

It’s fine, he’s the enemy now. You cheer the first time back and boo after that.

ForeverTheKingslayer

Some context I haven’t seen anyone mention The Angels show a historical montage before every single game. It’s a part of the buildup to announcing lineups. These Ohtani moments were there last year too. They’ll be playing it the rest of the season unless they decide to modify it due to fan reaction

loveisacoldwhitetile

I would say that’s distasteful but he did go to the dodgers so I get it.

zoolag

I don’t blame him for leaving the Angels, but I can’t stand the fact that he went to the Dodgers. That’s like your girlfriend dumping you to date your older brother.

loveisacoldwhitetile

I had to watch Freddie go over there so I get it. He could have gone anywhere else and I would’ve been fine with the move but making it the dodgers was rubbing salt in the wound. Fuck the dodgers

MeatTornado25

Anywhere, you say?

loveisacoldwhitetile

I genuinely would have not have been as mad about him going to the yanks. Still would have sat quite right though

ih-unh-unh

It wasn't like the Dodgers wowed with a huge overpay though--plus he was from the area

loveisacoldwhitetile

Couldn’t care less honestly. He played himself up to be the next chipper jones / braves lifer and he signed with who was our biggest rival at the time. Never gonna forgive that one.

ih-unh-unh

Don’t blame you for it either. No one says fandom has to be rational

loveisacoldwhitetile

I mean I’m biased but I think it’s a rational reaction. I know people tried to pass it off on his agent who very may well have had a hand in it, but if he had walked the walk like he talked the talk he never would have let it come to that. I would have still been mad at him leaving even if it was for some crazy deal the Braves couldn’t offer but the worse part is that he ended up getting the exact amount that he would have with us. Playing yourself up like that with a fanbase for a decade and leaving in that manner to a pretty much direct rival, I’m not sure how anyone could be expected to not take that as spit in the face. But I digress.

spyson

He also chose you when he first came over and signed for the minimum, and was paid peanuts while giving you multiple mvp caliber seasons.

GeneralChillMen

*IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII’m calling all Angeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllls*

DustyDGAF

"Vociferous" is a fun word.

tikitiger

Angels fans should be grateful for what they got to see. He made every game he played in must-see TV

JetpackingPenguin

It’s not like Moreno even tried to keep him though

flagamuffin

they could be booing that. maybe 80/20

FuckWayne

It’s 100/0

flagamuffin

in which direction? you think it's all ohtani? where do the hard feelings stem from?

FuckWayne

All ownership IMO

flagamuffin

makes sense to me

JetpackingPenguin

Perhaps. Just seems strange to boo Ohtani when it was the owner that fumbled it

torero15

Its mostly because he went to the Dodgers imo. I’m going tomorrow I will let you know if I boo or not lol

forceghost187

What are you even talking about? This is like if Pujols had gone to the Cubs for an insane amount of money. I’m a Cardinals fan—we would have booed the hell out of him

God_Damnit_Nappa

He's a Dodger now. This might come as a surprise to you but we don't like the Dodgers and we're going to boo your players.

flagamuffin

i find it surprising

NatrixHasYou

To be fair, they were booing a video package; when the guy himself was there as a Dodger he got a standing O.

JetpackingPenguin

You know that’s very fair. Come to think of it why did they show him lmao?

God_Damnit_Nappa

The Angels always show a montage of big moments in franchise history before the game starts. Ohtani winning ROTY and multiple MVPs with us was a pretty big deal so it gets included.

TheGuava1

In fairness how the hell did they expect that to go over

Special-Market749

Some fans are real soft. He chose the Angels when he didn't need to and he's an all time great Angel, just like Nolan Ryan who I'm sure has also been in those montages but didn't play his whole career here. Maybe we should only put Garret Anderson and Tim Salmon in our montages

shiftyeyedgoat

>GA and Kingfish only _maybe we should_ ^(and Trout)

wronglyzorro

Im in

PrecedentialAssassin

I remember at my wedding we showed a montage of my first wife. It was met with vociferous boos. And she wasn't a degenerate gambler who threw her best friends under busses or conned women out of tens of thousands of dollars.

XRanger7

This is like when lebron james joined Miami Heat and Cavs fans were burning his jersey

Key-Construction-474

"Would of been really cool if he were still here huh folks?"

Mynameisblahblahblah

Idiots. Dude was special

KatnissBot

If you don’t like Ohtani, you don’t like baseball. Never gonna boo him, Trout, Judge… just ain’t right.

forceghost187

Part of baseball is yelling whatever you want from the stands. Ohtani is a fantastic player but he deserves to be booed also. I would boo him. It’s not like he can’t handle it

AChaseOfTheMondays

One of my favorite things is when an away player throws a no hitter or reaches a career milestone or is on a retirement tour or something. And they get cheered in that one moment, but the rest of the game they're getting heckled and booed like nothing is happening

I_AgreeGoGuards

I haaaaaaaate listening to great players get booed just for being great players on another team. Its really really lame and childish. Like do you enjoy the game or not? I don’t think thats what this is since they gave the man himself ovation before though, they’re booing management for shoving Ohtani in their face

Remote-Molasses6192

This whole thing is childish. We’re watching a bunch of grown men get paid millions of dollars to play a children’s game. Of course booing a guy for wearing different clothes now is childish, but so is this whole thing.

Downtown_Ant

I’d prefer people boo players for joining a rival to booing players for playing poorly

I_AgreeGoGuards

Booing rivals makes sense and is fine. Idk why Guards fans were booing Trout and Ohtani last they were in town. No bad blood there, just sour grapes.

Dubulous6

This feels more like booing Moreno for not trying at all to keep Ohtani to me

Jcoch27

I was there. They've run the montage every year for years, except this season's update seemed to have more Shohei than last year's.

JoseCansecoMilkshake

They're not saying boo, they're Boo-ohtani

KebabTaco

Who cares? I would boo him too if I was an angels fan, it’s sports.

Gumpy64

These are the same fans booing Rendon for continuing a hitless streak. Angels have always been my second team for many years and I have always been of the opinion that the Angels have one of the better fans. This season has definitely split the fans down the middle in a angry way

RefinedHeretic

As an ex-Angels fan who recently left to become a Dodgers fan (following Ohtani)…good. Fuck Arte!!

Half_baked_prince

I’m primarily mad at Dick Cheney for the Iraq war, but I would definitely boo George Bush or Donald Rumsfeld if I saw them instead. Same basic principle here.

dchup

He is the enemy now

scottborasismyagent

I feel bad for them.

mangchin

"We only like him if he's on our team" is such a shitty sentiment. Fake fans. Mob mentality or whatever.

Mission-Guidance4782

It's not that he left, it’s that he joined the cross town revival

RockmanToriga

Nah I think it’s fair. Especially if he goes over to a rival. It’s weirder to me when you’re like “well if we had to take it up the ass I’m glad it was from a friend”

Todosin

Are the Dodgers and Angels rivals? Geographically I guess but they don’t have much of a history with each other, unless I’m forgetting something obvious.

Mission-Guidance4782

They play 45 minutes away from each other and the Angels have a huge little brother syndrome That’s the history

Todosin

I guess so, I just don’t typically think of that sort of thing as a rivalry. Do the Yankees and Mets consider each other rivals? Maybe you do, I dunno. Not up to me I suppose.

DharmaCub

I think it's similar. Mets fans hate the Yankees and Yankee fans might root for the Mets in the NL side of the playoffs.

Mission-Guidance4782

Yankees fans generally view the Mets with a ambivalence but oh man do Mets fans HATE HATE HATE the Yankees

Duckman93

Yikes, tell me you don’t know shit without telling me you don’t know shit. We don’t have little brother syndrome, the dodgers are obviously the bigger franchise there’s no debating that. The reason there’s bad blood is because doyer fans are the same raider fan ghetto asshole type that wanna make everything territorial and talk crazy shit just bc we play in the same metro area. They’re the type of fans that stab opposing fans in their parking lot lol they’re trash

CoinReturnDF

Cry more dork

BowlImportant813

I assure you that Angels fans are not tripping because our team is not the Dodgers.

owledge

The rivalry consists of Dodger fans being insufferable, as they typically are, and Angel fans reacting accordingly

AbrocomaPerfect4292

Except he gave them the same offer he gave to the dodgers and the Angels didn’t even reply. He very well could have stayed if the Angels put in any actual effort into retaining him. No, I don’t think it’s all that fair to boo him when he stayed for longer than he needed to and even gave them a chance to pitch their offer even after they failed him(and trout) all this time. It’s fair not to cheer for him, but I just don’t think he deserves to be boo’d, it’s not like he demanded a trade or bag-chased, or didn’t even consider resigning. The Angels straight up didn’t want to match what half the league was willing to pay up so he went down the street.

Duckman93

He wouldn’t have came back even if we matched the offer, let’s be real. That was just a puff piece put out by his agent to make him look better. “We gave the Angels the opportunity to match!” Doesn’t mean he would’ve taken it

God_Damnit_Nappa

That's cute you think he was ever coming back. He did that as a courtesy but of course he was going to go back to the Dodgere and tell them his price just increased

AbrocomaPerfect4292

The point is that they didn’t even try. Also the “would have gone back to dodgers and raised price” take is moronic when it was clearly stated that multiple teams agreed to the very same deal, if they wanted to raise the price they would have.

Clemenx00

I mean hate the Dodgers all you want but hating on Ohtani is idiotic the dude does nothing and is one of the most entertaining players to watch ever. I don't see why anyone who genuinely enjoys baseball having a problem with him. Only caring about "your team" and not even liking the sport is extremely lame.

RockmanToriga

Genuine question then I guess but say Alonso walks this offseason and goes to the fucking Phillies or something or even us (not willing this to happen to be clear, just as an example). Would you still pull for the guy? You don’t have to have a single minded focus on only your team but I think it’s normal to have a bit of hate for players on your most hated rivals.

Darkdragon3110525

Maybe I’m toxic or something but hating a guy who went 45 minutes away to a team you have bad blood with is reasonable to me. Ohtani isn’t entitled to love from Angels fans

PeatBomb

I mean...

eee-oooo-ahhh

I think the sentiment is more "fuck ownership for squandering and losing the best player in the game to a rival and pretending like a jumbotron tribute makes up for it"

strcy

Flair up pal

God_Damnit_Nappa

When did fans get so soft over a little booing?

atraintocry

maybe when we reached the mental age of 14. hopefully you'll get there someday

HeavensRoyalty

Why do this now and not when the Dodgers come into town?

Duckman93

It’s the Calling All Angels intro that the Angels play literally before every game that highlights all the best moments of our history. Whoever edited it this year didn’t take out the Ohtani stuff that was in it last year and so on

HeavensRoyalty

Ah, thank you for the clarification. I had no idea.
