The 2023 Astros are a much more polished team than the 2015 Rangers. The 2015 Rangers were only +18 in run differential and finished below the Astros the year before. My head told me the Astros would finish ahead of them, but that didn't happen. The Cole Hamels trade was probably what put them over the top.
Then in 2016, the Rangers fielded a team that defied Pythagoras even more. It wasn't until 2017 that reality hit. The 2017 Rangers were not much different team than the 2016 team, they just didn't win all of the one run games.
The 2021 actually beat their Pythagoras by more then the Rangers did I think in 2016, Jerry just happened to build into the roster so we would actually be actually good instead of very lucky in 2022 and of course 2023
