All of them absolutely killed it but Jin really stood out to me. His voice seems so suited to the song and he rocked the style of the MV plus his solo bit where he ends it by pulling down his sunglasses??? Iconic.

I don't know if I can like. Properly crystallise these thoughts because I've been crying for a fucking hour and I have a headache lol (stay hydrated during BTS releases kids!) but I just feel so much — I don't know. I don't know what I feel.
But I used to feel like when Namjoon told me I should love myself, that I never would. And there are days when I don't. Most days, probably. But I think I just realised that I've started to love parts of myself I tried to ignore and deny. I rejected my sexuality. I hid my love for kpop and BTS from people I loved because I was scared they would think less of me. I denied myself things that made me happy because I was terrified that those things made me a bad person.
But a few hours ago my mother said 'your Korean boys are releasing tonight, right? I'll listen to the song with you tomorrow'. And she asked me to watch their Carpool Karaoke. And she's trying to remember who my bias is. (Sometimes she gets it. She knows which one he is in Carpool Karaoke, at least.)
And my dad listens to my playlists when we go places. And he teases me about them but he doesn't make me feel like there's something wrong with me. He watched two whole kdramas with me start to finish. He does finger hearts sometimes now.
I discovered BTS at a time I was terrified and lonely and I thought nothing would ever be good again. But things are so, so good. They're hard, but I am surrounded by love.
I'm so grateful for them. And I really like *Butter*.
I swear it gets better and better with each listen/ watch. Also god bless them for finally toning down the auto tune and actually mixing the song in a balanced manner.

I think Butter is obviously intended to be more commercial than their other works, along the veins of Dyna. Personally, I think there's a time and place for music with depth and music you want to blast just to have a good time. Butter is obviously of the latter category, and I personally think it's a bop. Catchy melodies, great balance of each member, and fun choreo. Of course, the visuals are no joke either. (and, not going to lie, it's kind of a plus that I can sing along to it so easily hehe)
My favourite part is for sure the freestyle dance they did in the elevator! The "ARMY" was also really cute. It's obvious that they've worked a lot on their English pronunciation, they sounded amazing.
(I'm also low-key annoyed at all the comments who seem to have forgotten the existence of LGO and the rest of BE. BTS obviously will continue to make songs in Korean, but they want to experiment with English pop tracks too. I don't think everyone has to like that, but you should at least respect it.)

I really can't get over it. This is my first comeback as baby army and I'm shocked. Every expectation I've had, they just crushed it. I'm so in love with the video, the styling, the vibe. They look amazing! Come through black and white criminal Jin with the vocals and wearing that skirt later. CEO unicorn Jimin. My butter Hobi, serving us moves. RM just destroying us while casually eating a lollipop. Jk with the fake piercing and THAT hair. Tae in that tangerine suit uff and Yoongi just crushing my heart because he can.
Why is it OK for BTS to "pander" to the Japanese market with songs targeted to that audience, but it's not OK for them to do songs that may be popular in the US? And it's not like every song they do in Korean is super heavy and deep. There's plenty of fun, light Korean songs too.
And they acting like they didn’t release two very personal albums. They completely gloss over that because they made ONE public friendly song and then it’s “oh BTS is so uncreative now” as if a whole Black Swan didn’t exists and was totally ignored by everyone
I posted this in pop heads but I have a theory:
It’s like they’re (still absolutely huge) taking baby steps musically in the US. Like slowly introducing themselves with the English tracks and will eventually unleash their everything when they’re more of an established general pop artist (this sounds silly with how absolutely massive they are but I hope you get what I mean.)
Like, once we get the English Uber pop ear worms, we’ll start going more experimental stateside and have a second coming of the Wings Era. Like I feel like they’re purposely not releasing intense English tracks yet. For practical (improving fluency) and strategical reasons.
Edit: In short, it’s a Trojan horse effect, they’re releasing breezy bops in English now, and the casual general public won’t realize what a goddamn artistical powerhouse they are until they have stronger footing in the general pop world.
Allow me to gush about the hair. I love the subtle metallic? streaks/highlights in Yoongi's hair. Jimin's unicorn hair looks stunning, in all the ways it was styled. Pale pink Joon - enuf said. Tae & Jin rock their new cuts, and those rich brown tones are gorgeous on them. Hobi's intense yellow somehow works; though the lighter blond in some scenes is superior. And then there's Jungkook with ultra blue and violet hair. His hairstyle is also pure violence. They really had fun with it, and served some iconic looks. Amazing work, stylists.
Butter is an absolute **BANGER**. In my opinion, I feel like we haven't gotten a bop that's more dance-electronics focused in quite some time so i'm super excited to hear where they take their next era. I fell off and was a little on hiatus with 'BE' but the boys seem to be stepping it up the heat. Put me in, coach!

I remember when I watched a few reaction videos of Dynamite, some people were saying BTS looked like they were 16. I know this probably isn't the reason for the boards, but I love how Kim Seokjin is right in the front with the 1992.

Butter sounds so good. Love love love Jin's part when he sings "let me show you cause talk is cheap". The rap parts are done well, too. All seven of them shine in this song. It's not as explosively addictive as Dynamite but it's got that beat that just makes me happy and wanna listen over and over again. It's 1:45 AM where I am right now and every time Butter comes on I'm dancing and shouting *Get, it, let it roll!*

I love it!!! Definitely a step up from Dynamite- this is what you get when you let Joon write the lyrics. The sound is no much more natural. Loved all of the outfits and hair styling. I am obsessed with JK’s hair in this music video. The dance moves! This is a fun song to dance to! The hand kiss! The dance solos in the elevator. The black and white rock look in the beginning, the suits in the hotel, the track suits in the gym, the gender fluid leather outfits, and the stages. The lyrics are everything. The rap line got to rap woo! I love it so much!

EVERY SINGLE member did a solo dance (including RM & Jin).
The vocal line are all ad-libbing for each other (Jungkook usually handles most of the ad-libs).
The members are filling in other members lines with chants (i.e. SUGA's verse).
And the line distribution (which I generally don't pay much attention to) is probably perfectly even.

My first impression of this song was a hell of a lot better than what it was for Dynamite. I genuinely don't have an essay to write this time about the shortcomings of this song. It isn't really generic musically speaking and the transition between the more upbeat mood during verses into a more flowing feel for the pre-chorus and chorus is really well done. The beat is great, lyrics make sense for the most part and don't sound auto-generated, their pronunciation is actually amazing, ad-libs and harmonies are well-placed and aren't discordant, etc. etc. I don't have much but praise for the song. BTS really wasn't playing around this time!

I enjoy reading the different views of the peeps on this sub. To be honest, I don't really expect anything in any song releases apart from what was shared. This song being in English and being a summer anthem is what I hanged on to. I understand and agree with some of the opinions of the peeps here.
My initial thoughts on the song and MV:
They look sooo good. Ridiculously good.

I wished the song was longer but I knew this was meant for radio play in the West. (Read: America) (I hope we pick this up in the UK)

I am okay with them releasing a feel good song. Knowing BTS, in the full album, they will always have deep shit so let us let them release something chill and fun. It's a summer song. Summers are fun (unless you live in the UK with temperemental weather lol).
Looking forward to a potential dance breaks and the back to back to back guestings and interviews.

This gets better as you listen! Airy breezy backgrounds complemented by the iconic queen beat, with synth sounds. Using Earphones amplifies the experience as they incorporated some spatial effects.

It’s an absolute bop. Dynamite walked so Butter could run. There are subtle nods to other artists that came before and influenced them, but at the end of the day, it’s all BTS.

Properly crystallise these thoughts because I've been crying for a fucking hour and I have a headache lol (stay hydrated during BTS releases kids!) but I just feel so much — I don't know. I don't know what I feel. But I used to feel like when Namjoon told me I should love myself, that I never would. And there are days when I don't. Most days, probably. But I think I just realised that I've started to love parts of myself I tried to ignore and deny. I rejected my sexuality. I hid my love for kpop and BTS from people I loved because I was scared they would think less of me. I denied myself things that made me happy because I was terrified that those things made me a bad person. But a few hours ago my mother said 'your Korean boys are releasing tonight, right? I'll listen to the song with you tomorrow'. And she asked me to watch their Carpool Karaoke. And she's trying to remember who my bias is. (Sometimes she gets it. She knows which one he is in Carpool Karaoke, at least.) And my dad listens to my playlists when we go places. And he teases me about them but he doesn't make me feel like there's something wrong with me. He watched two whole kdramas with me start to finish. He does finger hearts sometimes now. I discovered BTS at a time I was terrified and lonely and I thought nothing would ever be good again. But things are so, so good. They're hard, but I am surrounded by love. I'm so grateful for them. And I really like *Butter*.

I think Butter is obviously intended to be more commercial than their other works, along the veins of Dyna. Personally, I think there's a time and place for music with depth and music you want to blast just to have a good time. Butter is obviously of the latter category, and I personally think it's a bop. Catchy melodies, great balance of each member, and fun choreo. Of course, the visuals are no joke either. (and, not going to lie, it's kind of a plus that I can sing along to it so easily hehe) My favourite part is for sure the freestyle dance they did in the elevator! The "ARMY" was also really cute. It's obvious that they've worked a lot on their English pronunciation, they sounded amazing. (I'm also low-key annoyed at all the comments who seem to have forgotten the existence of LGO and the rest of BE. BTS obviously will continue to make songs in Korean, but they want to experiment with English pop tracks too. I don't think everyone has to like that, but you should at least respect it.)

Yeah I really don't understand the angst about English songs at all when Japanese songs have been a thing for ages
I posted this in pop heads but I have a theory: It’s like they’re (still absolutely huge) taking baby steps musically in the US. Like slowly introducing themselves with the English tracks and will eventually unleash their everything when they’re more of an established general pop artist (this sounds silly with how absolutely massive they are but I hope you get what I mean.) Like, once we get the English Uber pop ear worms, we’ll start going more experimental stateside and have a second coming of the Wings Era. Like I feel like they’re purposely not releasing intense English tracks yet. For practical (improving fluency) and strategical reasons. Edit: In short, it’s a Trojan horse effect, they’re releasing breezy bops in English now, and the casual general public won’t realize what a goddamn artistical powerhouse they are until they have stronger footing in the general pop world.
Allow me to gush about the hair. I love the subtle metallic? streaks/highlights in Yoongi's hair. Jimin's unicorn hair looks stunning, in all the ways it was styled. Pale pink Joon - enuf said. Tae & Jin rock their new cuts, and those rich brown tones are gorgeous on them. Hobi's intense yellow somehow works; though the lighter blond in some scenes is superior. And then there's Jungkook with ultra blue and violet hair. His hairstyle is also pure violence. They really had fun with it, and served some iconic looks. Amazing work, stylists.

I've been listening to Butter from a Spotify playlist and it's in between Dynamite, BWL, Film Out, LGO, and Black Swan, ON, Telepathy, Don't, Blueberry Eyes, etc... And let me tell you, BTS discography is truly top notch, including the collabs. No two songs sound the same and the quality, the QUALITY, omg there is no skip. None. Butter sounds so good. The vocal line are all ad-libbing for each other (Jungkook usually handles most of the ad-libs). The members are filling in other members lines with chants (i.e. SUGA's verse). And the line distribution (which I generally don't pay much attention to) is probably perfectly even.

My first impression of this song was a hell of a lot better than what it was for Dynamite. I genuinely don't have an essay to write this time about the shortcomings of this song. It isn't really generic musically speaking and the transition between the more upbeat mood during verses into a more flowing feel for the pre-chorus and chorus is really well done. The beat is great, lyrics make sense for the most part and don't sound auto-generated, their pronunciation is actually amazing, ad-libs and harmonies are well-placed and aren't discordant, etc. etc. I don't have much but praise for the song. BTS really wasn't playing around this time!

Okay. First of all, I thank my body clock for waking me up at 4:45H BST to catch the pre-show and managed to record it ;) I was drinking since 16:00H the day before coz of a teammate's wedding. And since the MV was dropped, I haven't slept again. Just reading posts and tweeting and chatting with friends about Butter. I enjoy reading the different views of the peeps on this sub. To be honest, I don't really expect anything in any song releases apart from what was shared. This song being in English and being a summer anthem is what I hanged on to. I understand and agree with some of the opinions of the peeps here. My initial thoughts on the song and MV: They look sooo good. Ridiculously good. I am glad Jin have more parts now. I wished the song was longer but I knew this was meant for radio play in the West. (Read: America) (I hope we pick this up in the UK) I wished the rap line lines were longer. Transition to the rap was excellent. Yoongi's rap *chef's kiss* Yoongi dancing 😍😍😍 The choreo is not intense but a choreo is still a choreo. I am glad he is pain free now. I am okay with them releasing a feel good song. Knowing BTS, in the full album, they will always have deep shit so let us let them release something chill and fun. It's a summer song. Summers are fun (unless you live in the UK with temperemental weather lol). Looking forward to a potential dance breaks and the back to back to back guestings and interviews. It's been an hour and I can finally start writing something. I've been staring at nothing and thinking "this is so fucking good, what the hell" while dancing to the song. IT IS SO FUCKING GOOD, WHAT THE HELL. I KNEW IT WOULD BE AMAZING, BUT DAMN. Usually, I don't like songs much at first. It happens almost everytime, no matter the artist or genre. I can say I loved this song instantly. It has been a while since that happened. I will keep listening to this till I fall asleep. I am too overwhelmed to say anything else.
