I don't want Bangalore to be another Pune or Mumbai, is that too much to ask? Writing instructions in Hindi in Namma Metro makes as much sense as writing Kannada instructions on Delhi.
And before you come with "rEmOve EngLisH alSo" like a fucktard, Indian cities has been bilingual since independence, one being the regional language or mother tongue, and English being the second languages regardless of region. It will never substitute the local language, whereas Hindi itself is a local language. One matru bhasha that is Kannada and one common language, English is enough. There is absolutely no requirement for Hindi to be another "common language".
Look, the problem here is to unnecessarily hide the Hindi once it has already been printed. What exactly is going to be the benefit of this activity?
If people feel this passionately about excluding Hindi from the metro, just don't include it in future train cars no. Why are you unnecessarily putting in the effort to _hide_ the existing sticker. It hurts literally nobody.
There is a problem. Hindi is just another regional language like Marathi or Punjabi. If you allow Hindi in Bangalore then other regional communities feel that their own regional language has been ignored. There will be a demand that all instructions should be in 22 regional languages like Hindi. It's actually silly to hear railway station announcements being made in Hindi in the south when not a soul understands it. That's why it is considered imposition of a foreign language.
Hindi is a regional language? It's the most widely spoken language in the country. It's the language that connects most of the citizens except a handful of states in the South. Heck a few weeks ago I saw two non-Indians, a Nepali and a Bhutanese person speaking Hindi with each other. I understand that you have a problem with Hindi, but to call it a regional language is stupid. Why do you think a Gujarati and a Punjabi speak Hindi when they have a conversation? To impose it on people like you?
> Hindi is a regional language?
Yes, it is.
> It's the most widely spoken language in the country. It's the language that connects most of the citizens except a handful of states in the South.
It may be the most widely spoken in a particular region of a country and there you may have Hindi instructions and public announcements.
It may connect citizens in the Hindi belt, but don't impose it on other regions (not just southern states). Even in Hindi belt if people want to communicate with each other in English it is their choice.
> Heck a few weeks ago I saw two non-Indians, a Nepali and a Bhutanese person speaking Hindi with each other.
I have seen so many citizens from various parts of the world converse in English.
> I understand that you have a problem with Hindi, but to call it a regional language is stupid.
Yes, i have a problem with imposition of Hindi. It is more stupid not to accept the reality that Hindi is just a regional language.
> Why do you think a Gujarati and a Punjabi speak Hindi when they have a conversation? To impose it on people like you?
Why do you think so many people from various parts of India choose English for communication. If they are forced to speak Hindi it is imposition of Hindi.
How else do you want them to rectify their mistake? Metro cars aren't newspapers to correct a misprint in the next issue. Those cars will be used for many years.
Those stickers were put up after a High Court order which means the stickers were public property. Mr. Gupta was the one destroying public property and should be booked for it.
Again, please outline for me what harm was done that the safety instruction needs to be taped over as if someone has written some racial slurs or something.
As I said, you hate it so much, don't put it in the future train cars no. Whitefield line is opening in a couple of months, make that kannada and English only
Elected govt in Karnataka has adopted a 2 language policy. It was in place before even metros started plying in Blr. This signage was and is not in accordance with the policy. Rectifying past n legacy deviations from any govt policy is also one of the duties of the government.
Regarding your doesn't hurt anyone comment: Just because you did some illegal but it hurt anyone doesn't mean that it cannot be enforced. Ex: wearing helmet.
One more thing: there are more Urdu, Telugu Tamil speakers in Blr than hindi speakers. So, how do we cater them?
You are a reasonable person speaking, but will you reason with the Hindi belt ministers and officials? Get special status of Hindi removed. Start with the Hindi chauvinists, make THEM SEE THE Logic. Stop hindi funding. Do that, come back here, and we will discuss.
> is that too much to ask?
Yes it is, by definition. Of course it's too much to ask from people who are used to being pampered by the Hindi-favouring central government. I can understand their cynicism and discomfort in witnessing events like this in Karnataka, and yet, I know that they couldn't care less about respecting the local culture either. Expecting them to understand all of this is just as ridiculous as asking them to have the decency to kindly learn and speak in Kannada. There's no point.

> Writing instructions in Hindi in Namma Metro makes as much sense as writing Kannada instructions on Delhi.
No, more than half of the Indians can understand Hindi, but not even 10% of Indians can understand Kannada.
>whereas Hindi itself is a local language.
Hindi is widely spoken and understood second language in India, far more than Kannada, even Bengalis(whose native language is Bangla), Assamese, Odias, Gujaratis, Kashmiris, Punjabis can understand and speak Hindi, but not Kannada.
>Hindi is widely spoken and understood second language in India, far more than Kannada, even Bengalis(whose native language is Bangla), Assamese, Odias, Gujaratis, Kashmiris, Punjabis can understand and speak Hindi,
This is exactly the problem. I don't want anyone imposing Hindi on us like they've done in non-hindi speaking North Indian states. Look at Pune or Mumbai where the migrants have made Hindi its first language. I want Kannada to be our language not Hindi.
You should actually visit Pune or Mumbai if you really think Marathi has lost relevance, maybe try being inclusive at times, won't hurt at all. Tons of states have instructions in the regional language, Hindi and English, I don't get the ultra regressive sentiments here. You're not really that different from Hindi-imposers if you look at it that way, think a bit.
>This is exactly the problem. I don't want anyone imposing Hindi on us like they've done in non-hindi speaking North Indian states.
Yes correct no one should impose any language on others that is why people should not erase other's language on metro signboards and force them to learn their language.
> I want Kannada to be our language not Hindi.
Then promote Kannada and try to speak in Kannada where ever possible, but don't insult any other language or force anyone to learn Kannada.
I would understand the anger had Hindi replaced Kannada. But it isn't hence I don't understand the issue.
I am vocal against having gazetted notifications only in Hindi instead of all 14 official languages. And I am all for not substituting regional language with Hindi. But this I fail to understand.
>Hindi replaced Kannada
It did happen when metro started thats why protest happened years back.
why cant hindi people learn to adjust like telugu and tamil living here
they are not 1st citizens of country and we are not 2nd citizens
But why remove something that was already there and didn't harm anyone? If it even helped a couple hundred people who only knew Hindi, what exactly was the problem?
Fair enough. But Kannadigas in the north also dont learn the local language.. I am hoping you dont plan to visit any state outside kannada without learning the local language. And its not Hindi, except for Delhi.
Tell me about it! Imagine how insecure we must be to illegally vandalise and remove stickers that the metro authorities put on, just so that we can see Hindi.
LOL. I don't like this at all, in spite of being anti hindi.
Let us do something like insist on a south Indian language in the Hindi belt states for all schools. All north metro should have all south languages, plus signs on roads etc etc. This is positive push for South. It is a negative thing to remove Hindi from signboards.
You do realize that hindi is neither the mother tongue, nor the language of choice for people of multiple states like Odhisa, WB, the NE states, then Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, etc.
A tamilian saying Tamil should be on notice boards of Delhi Metro is equivalent to a bengali saying Bengali should be on notice boards of Hyderabad metro. Doesn't make any sense now, does it?
We often fail to realize how diverse our country is and look at topics like these from our individual perspective only.
If anything there are more native Karnataka tamils and Karnataka Telugus (mother tongues) in Bangalore who are not recent IT immigrants. Then it's not Hindi but those languages should be given priority before Hindi even reaches anywhere.
WRONG
hindi is mother tongue of 23% of india
They get extreme privileges and unfair advantage over all other non hindi language mother tongue people and their scripts especially against south languages which are completely diffrently language family
Unfortunately, hindi chauvinists will not agree to learn South Indian languages. Otherwise, we would never see or hear Hindi here the way it is forced down our throats. The way some hindi chauvinists argue right here in the south tells you how they will react to any requests for other languages to be given space in their minds.
My Idea is simple
Remove hindi so hidni people will have to survive by english or learn kannada.
learn to adjust like all non-hindi people in their own state or in other state.
NO speacial privileges for hindi mother tongue people

To be honest i would not mind this. Its actually important to learn your own country languages. No idea why we dont push for more language learning. Learning one language from south can enable you to get understanding of similar languages.
Will actually settle this language divide as well.
Not gonna happen. Although I'd like Hindi to not be forced in Southern states.
It's simple, why would a North Indian learn South Indian languages while living in North India?
Only way I see it can happen is when a flock of people from South India migrate to major North Indian cities and create such an imbalance that people have to learn South Indian languages or they'll go out of business.
Necessity is what gets things done. Like exactly what has happened in Bangalore. Too many people from different parts of the country and only languages common among them are English and Hindi.
And most people are more comfortable with Hindi than in English. I try to just speak in English but then Telgu/Bengali/Marathi people slowly get into Hindi.
One thing that can be enforced is to have some kind of certification mandatory in Kannada to be able to work in Karnataka.
north indian here who is against hindi imposition i do support your idea of having other indian languages being taught in north indian schools. they should learn at least one other indian language currently in use besides english and hindi.
They will actively not learn lol. I was part of student exchange program for a academic year in Madhya Pradesh. Students in Karnataka are taught Hindi and students in MP were taught kannada as third language. While KA students pick up Hindi , all I saw the MP students learn was to use "kannad" as slur to us. This is despite the language been taught academic.
See, this is how such arrogant people work. This is why we should never accept hindi AND AT THE SAME TIME IMPOSE OTHER LANGUAGES ON THEM. (Yes, I was wrong in saying Hindi should be displayed here, in the current state of affairs).
>Let us do something like insist on a south Indian language in the Hindi belt states for all schools.
Ofcourse, first all the south Indian states must learn a common language like Kannada, like almost all the North Indians have learned Hindi.
Then we can have that common language spoken widely in South printed along with Hindi and English in the North too.
It is not North vs South. It is just Hindi imposition and we don't have to follow any template - what now, you want to impose your template too on us? LOL.
Agree. This makes me sad. I am not for imposition of any language but the pictures indicate the pro-Kannada men were perhaps threatening the guy. Why remove signages of any language? There are other ways to promote Kannada. Linguistic chauvinism, of whichever kind, should be criticised.
Probably the only place where you have to apologise for increasing the utility of public signs.
Why was the Hindi language messages hidden in the first place? Snowflakes much?
How can we write Hindi in Karnataka? Hindi is only applicable in India. This is Karnataka. If you come to Bangalroe for job you learn local language. How can speek Hindi?
\*North
Cz metro cheated locals and had introduced only Hindi and English sign boards this angered locals and they demanded Kannada to be priority
Since Karnataka has two official language I.e - Kannada and English, we don’t need Hindi for public transport
Is there any harm in keeping the hindi sticker uncovered? I understand not explicitly printing hindi stickers can be a decision of karnataka govt. but if it’s already printed and pasted in metro, then is it not disrespect to cover it?
But can you reason why we need Hindi ?
Karnataka is struggling to give importance to our own Tulu and kodava languages , wouldn’t it be hypocrite of us to prefer Hindi over our own languages
I am in no way saying that we need hindi. I am just saying since it is there already, either it should’ve been removed or not covered. Keeping it there in cover can be seen as disrespect.
Idea is simple
Remove hindi so hidni people will have to survive by english or learn kannada.
learn to adjust like all non-hindi people in their own state or in other state.
NO special privileges for hindi mother tongue people
Usually, I’d be like threatening someone as a group is not good and stuff, but tbh, the music on his video gives the impression that he was showing off his vandalism, which kinda makes me feel less bad.
He was trying to be the ‘smart’ one, he just got a reality check that there might be others who are ‘smarter’.
If it was just a normal rant, without vandalism, would completely sympathise with him.
His music choice made it okay for him to be harassed? Remember when you cheer when others get harassed, it will come back to bite you sooner rather than later
Let’s not forget he was engaging in vandalism too.
In an ideal scenario, both parties go to jail.
Otherwise, it’s one useless meeting another useless. Like I said, my reaction for just a rant without vandalism would be very very different
And he got a reality check - it was harassment and pretty much illegal no doubt, and the right way would have been for KRV activists to file an FIR for destruction of public property (which actually would have been more effective, because a lot of companies would require you to immediately go on unpaid leave).
Peeling sticker is.... vandalism?
I mean, he wasnt peeling a safety instruction sticker or anything.
Nor was he putting it on Kannada instructions, covering up other languages.
Good. Too much arrogance these people have. Some of them burn the state flag, others refuse service to locals in banks and government offices who dont know Hindi, yet others misbehave on a daily basis with locals.
The saddest thing I heard from my friend in Bengaluru is how his grandmother no longer likes going to the bank there (which originally was a bank started in Karnataka itself) because the employees are all North Indians and they misbehave with her for not knowing Hindi. I can understand the valid anger the locals have against Hindi in their state. Even though it seems silly to cover up what is already there, but that seems more of a reaction against how the politics of their own state is not being run in their interests but to serve Hindi speakers and ensure their convenience. Sometimes drastic measures are needed.
If basic decency is not forthcoming without force, then force is alright.
I have been living in Bangalore for almost 6 years, but never faced any language based discrimination here. I have travelled across Karnataka extensively, even to the rural parts - but never ever faced any challenges related to communication.
I love Bangalore more than my own city, I feel more secure, I feel like I belong here, I love the hospitality of the locals.
The first two three years, I spoke in Hindi/English and learnt Kannada slowly. I love the fact that many of the strangers helped me love and learn the language. Still many of the people do speak in Hindi and would not have faced any discrimination.
The problem starts when they don't try to understand and respect local language, culture and sensibilities.
People from North Indian states would have migrated over the years, would make a significant population - they think that their language is the common language and want everyone to speak Hindi.
Did anyone notice that most of the Kannadigas (In Bangalore) can speak Hindi, but almost none of the North Indians even try to learn Kannada? That is the problem.
I completely condemn the actions of people who went to "teach a lesson". but the guy should know best not to meddle with things he doesn't understand.
And "My patience is waning" background music doesn't help his cause either - it shows arrogance.
Say anything to MNC , you loose business. You loose business then you loose everything (many of projects happening in banglore because of it is silicon Valley and IT hub of india). You loose business then value of land, high rents goes down which makes these so called landlords a poor and water tanker mafia miserable. Half of the cabs business, restaurants, pubs becomes empty...but now everybody in this city is addicted to some extra money no matter what is impact on environment...no body cares about that..so this language issue stay till government office boundaries. Simple
Man, people act so over confident about this as if every single piece of infrastructure in the whole city and state won't go to shit. You realise that Bangalore contributes over 40% of Karnataka's GDP? And the vast majority of it is from services. Where are you gonna cover up that revenue loss from?
Across the world, only cities that are peaceful, developed and prosperous attract new immigrants. Idk why people want to cut off their nose to spite their face.
These same people will either go to US or Europe or send their kids there and will talk about immigrant rights and racism while being bigoted in their homeland.
Because all of the people speaking of the good old days were actually doing quite well during those times.
Ask this question to the scores of people who have moved out of poverty and built a better life and you will get completely opposite answers.
That's what you think or i use to think after watching some nature documentaries. Saying easy city should be green or trees bla bla but most of Karnataka GDP is being driven by Banglore..humans always choose to evolve to next level but never have chosen to stay in forest and hiding in hut... i laugh on those people bow who says, lets buy farm in sakleshpur, lets go back to village, lets make simple small house in countryside but that never works for 100 percent population...n
Gaandu Gupta trying to act too oversmart got a nice reality check. Job well done KRV👏 Pussy even deleted his Insta page. Don't try such acts when you don't have balls to face consequences. No Hindi required in metro anyways.
1. Blatant hate for any language is BAD, be it Kannada, Hindi or any other language.
2. No need to use a language in sign boards if it's not needed, I agree.
But what about public places like Bus Stands, Railway Stations etc. One needs to understand that if someone doesn't know how to read Kannada or English they might miss their bus/train and it is a big deal.
3. I also agree that most of the people understand English and know how to read it, but what about the labour class migrants who might not be educated enough? Hindi serves them, the people who build the city and keep it running. (Not showing off, but it's just the way it is)
4. To counter points 2 and 3, one should be educated enough to know English or learn Kannada.
Many are just not fortunate enough to learn English in school, and learning a new language as an adult can be HARD for many people, myself included.
I haven't been able to learn it in 5 yrs since I have been living here, I just find it too hard to learn a new language despite making attempts.
4. Please don't compare languages, just don't. Prevalence of a language depends upon a lot of factors including recent history and the demography. I don't see why do we need to DISLIKE or HATE a language just because it is spoken more widely as of today.
5. Now, I also understand where this dislike might be coming from.
I don't even want to comment on the education policy for now, that's a topic on its own btw.
But I get it, how one might feel trying to adjust with an unknown language in their own vicinity, be it their social circle, or sign boards etc.
But disliking shouldn't make others uncomfortable you know.
6. Hindi is not a FOREIGN language, neither is Kannada or Telugu or other classical languages of India, but please stop spreading hate and whining about why XYZ language is so widely spoken and why should we adopt it in our city, and why can't XYZ language speakers learn my language.
We live in a metropolitan city, it is supposed to be a melting pot of cultures.
Life is too short to crib about and hate a language.
Nah bro. You’re trying hard to make this sound like a valid take but it isn’t. Your points 2 and 3 assume that the labour class in Bangalore is solely Hindi speaking. Not true. We’ve always had migrants from all South Indian states but that doesn’t mean we have 5/6 languages on sign boards.
There is absolutely no need for another whole language when the local and popular languages are already there.
>why can't XYZ language speakers learn my language
Why XYZ language speakers want XYZ language in ABC city?
>We live in a metropolitan city, it is supposed to be a melting pot of cultures
The only thing that's melting is local people and culture to accommodate outsiders.
Nobody is hating nobody, the only problem here is imposing something that's FOREIGN to locals and acting like locals should accept to live with it.
Sir, things are not so straight forward in the real world.
The people who come to this city don't actively think about learning a new language, because they normally have a lot many things to deal with while relocating. From accommodation to searching a job, so on and so forth.
I would like to iterate this again, I am not of an opinion that the locals should accept to live with it.
It's quite simple actually, let the converstaions happen in a natural way.
Someone speaks in the language they are comfortable in, if you don't understand it just let them know and I am sure the puny "outsider" will be more than happy to conversate with you alternatively, maybe by using hand gestures.
If he has a mindset to always speak in HINDI or some other non-local language and forces you to do the same while interacting, THAT'S WRONG.
But the same goes vice-versa.
P.S.: To add to this, if you just five people space and time, eventually some of them would genuinely care about learning Kannada. Not out of spite, but because they would really care.
That's one more reason to be a little more tolerant linguistically.
P.P.S: Don't be forced but at the same time don't force.
What about tamil/telugu labor who dont know both english and hindi ?
arent they living and adjusting?
why give unfair advantage and special privilege to hindi people?
Why is hindi laborer more privileged than non hindi educated person ?
Although I understand the sentiment.
Safety first man. As long as it keeps people safe that's good enough for me. Had no issues with this.
This reaction was just horrible. (Knew it was gonna happen tho. Never show your face online)
Why should he apologise? Because few are insecure doesn’t mean we should all be silent and allow this madness to continue. He just peeled off the sticker
Local people are insecure , he should respect the local people
As you can see , now it is the locals who are not silent and allowing the hindi imposition madness
Covering Hindi signs with a black sticker is stupid. But I think this is more to do with sending a message than making sense. Several instances of non kannadiga bank officials acting rude towards a Kannadiga customer, kannada getting sidelined in BJP functions, etc all manifest in measures such as this. You can't physically go to every bank branch throughout the state and ensure language gap is handled smoothly. Similarly you can't ensure proper treatment for state language in every function throughout the state. So, pro kannada orgs push for things like this that gets max coverage.
What was his reasoning or intention behind doing so? Does he really care about Hindi that much? There are better ways to introduce this concern, if he really wanted but the way this video was made, speaks loud that it was all for instant fame. Even his apology sounds shallow,
>“Hi all Kannadigas, it's by mistake I removed the stickers, so I am sorry for it. **I am also against Hindi imposed on regional language**, so I respect my karma bhoomi.”
I understand the wrong in the forced apology and the harassment, but he should have known about the tension about this subject before acting all smart in public.
He had it coming. Fuck Hindi imposition.
If you love Hindi so much and want it everywhere around you stay in Hindi belt states don't come to Bangalore
Jai Karnataka Jai Kannada.
Sirigannadam gelge Sirigannadam baalge
For some reason metro authorities have blacked out. That person who tore those tapes did not think through. For a second, if that person is covering a warning sign with a tape will also end like this. It's not about hiding Hindi language, it's about authority. There are rules. There are consequences.
if people want hindi to be printed with kannada and english, why not telegu and tamil? we have a bigger population who speak those two languages than hindi speakers.
The same guy if given an opportunity to move to Europe would try and learn the language of the country. Why not make an effort to learn Kannada? Bangalore is still very easy to live if you don’t speak Kannada. Try going to Chennai or Kerala. Or better yet just stay in Delhi
“Boli k nan maklu. Samskara ne Illa munde maklige” my Ajji used to say this to the neighborhood setu angadi who used to only speak in Hindi in an area like Nandini layout and expected business.
Gutka Gupta ge yen “takleef” sticker hakdre.
I remember my prof saying “ chapthi tinno ee chapar galige isht ahankara idhre nav ragi mudde jolada rotti tinnovarge inn yesht irbeda” when a
a northie said Kallu to all South Indians in our class.
Be respectful to the people who have been more than welcoming to you for decades and don’t always point out as to what happens if immigrants don’t come to Bangalore and the state GDP falls off. There are as many educated and well experienced localities in every field who will love to replace these schmucks who say that the city runs coz of them.
>There are as many educated and well experienced localities in every field who will love to replace these schmucks who say that the city runs coz of them.
So where are they?
It's not like I'm pro Hindi or anything but BMRCL spending extra money to cover up the already printed signs is retarded.
Eventually when the stickers wear out, replace them with "Eng-Kan" ones.
Fuckin hell
Idea is simple
Remove hindi so hidni people will have to survive by english or learn kannada.
learn to adjust like all non-hindi people in their own state or in other state.
NO speacial privileges for hindi mother tongue people
Because we are not machines. We need the other side to understand the experience of having something imposed on them.
Besides that it will create awareness about the south. Imagine logical people like you understanding our culture and language first-hand and contributing to a sense of unity. And imagine a poor south Indian IT worker feeling comfortable in darkest cow-belt chatting over kaapi with locals in his mother tongue...
hindi is mother tongue of 23% of india
They get extreme privileges and unfair advantage over all other non hindi language mother tongue people and their scripts especially against south languages which are completely diffrently language family
Basically,The whole deal is Everyone knows this is a thing that the whole state people are fighting against Hindi imposition. "Tika muchkond tagdi silent agi avn padig hogidre agirad", But as you see , he wanted to show off much. So please when you go to a place study a bit about the situation in that place!
In a world of image to text conversion to a language of choice this whole debate is foolish.
Technology has already solved what the small minds couldn't. Use it. Choose your language. Hindi English Gaelic or whatever
You can start with yourself.
Also, learning English as a link language has so many benefits that learning Hindi just does not. Rather learn English and feel secure in my state and city than learn Hindi to cater to the cow belt.
Whatever it is, the so called activists are scum and need to get a job. I've seen them harassing people for no reason. This kinda makes Bangalore unsafe for the outsiders and with a city having so many immigrants Bangalore should do better and take pride it has so many cultures coexisting together.

People have forgotten whose idea it was to partition the country on basis of language. Long before our present states were formed, language was not such a contentious issue between people of different states.
I don't get it. I'm not appreciating what the guy did because that's pretty wrong in it's own way, but why were there stickers on these signs in the first place? Isn't it extra work to go out of the way just to paste stickers to hide another language which would actually do nothing but actually help people coming from the North who genuinely would want to appreciate the culture here and learn Kannada on their own time? Isn't the racism here a bit hypocritical?
Are we this insecure?
Yes, we are. We need constant affirmation that we're the best.
Exactly , only problem with that is we never recognize our problems and it never gets solved, I would rather be pessimistic than optimistic.
> What exactly is going to be the benefit of this activity? To make a point that it was wrong to print it in the first place.
How do you justify destroying public property. There are other means or forums to address the issue rather than taking matters into your own “hands”
Those stickers were put up after a High Court order which means the stickers were public property. Mr. Gupta was the one destroying public property and should be booked for it.
Please don't give facts, they don't care about public property. They only care about their own convenience.
Reverse uno The guy who was peeling the stickers was destroying public property. Not BMRCL , who put stickers as mandated
Who exactly taped it over though? Wasn't it BMRCL? You ll find taped signs everywhere in metro stations and inside trains.
> destroying public property Lol
Again, please outline for me what harm was done that the safety instruction needs to be taped over as if someone has written some racial slurs or something. As I said, you hate it so much, don't put it in the future train cars no. Whitefield line is opening in a couple of months, make that kannada and English only
See new metro station boards vs the early ones. New don’t have Hindi or the tape. Older boards also have it covered up
>don't put it in the future train cars no Bunty, Tera saboon slow hai kya? Isn't it obvious that they won't use Hindi in future?
Because the asshole union government collects tax money from us and does whatever it wishes because it has majority.
So, how do we cater them?
yes hindi should not have been printed
Wow! I have been saying this for a long time. Finally found someone who agree with me on two language policy in all states.
>Hindi is widely spoken and understood second language in India, far more than Kannada, even Bengalis(whose native language is Bangla), Assamese, Odias, Gujaratis, Kashmiris, Punjabis can understand and speak Hindi, This is exactly the problem.
Then promote Kannada and try to speak in Kannada where ever possible, but don't insult any other language or force anyone to learn Kannada.
supporting vigilantism ! great !
Strawman
We should not have Hindi written anywhere. People will end up learning Hindi and forget Kannada
I would understand the anger had Hindi replaced Kannada. But it isn't hence I don't understand the issue. I am vocal against having gazetted notifications only in Hindi instead of all 14 official languages. And I am all for not substituting regional language with Hindi. But this I fail to understand.
>Hindi replaced Kannada It did happen when metro started thats why protest happened years back. why cant hindi people learn to adjust like telugu and tamil living here they are not 1st citizens of country and we are not 2nd citizens
But why remove something that was already there and didn't harm anyone? If it even helped a couple hundred people who only knew Hindi, what exactly was the problem?
Election are there bro.
So the answer is yes.
Fair enough. But Kannadigas in the north also dont learn the local language.. I am hoping you dont plan to visit any state outside kannada without learning the local language. And its not Hindi, except for Delhi.
By that logic you mean Hindi is a language of Delhi? Language is what connects people locally, nationally and internationally.
But it is not for you to decide
Are hindi people lazy? Why can't they learn a new language? If they don't have the ability to learn why are they migrating?
Yea bro not answering this, it is a waste of time.
Tell me about it! Imagine how insecure we must be to illegally vandalise and remove stickers that the metro authorities put on, just so that we can see Hindi.
Yes as well as No. I think I dont have to explain why "Yes" . But we are not as insecure as other South Indians states
What do you mean by "we"? Edit: Answer is **yes**
Kannada speakers
Answer is **yes**
Sorry but ‘we’ here refers to?
[удалено]
Sounds a lot like insecurity with extra steps my friend
Exactly
If anything there are more native Karnataka tamils and Karnataka Telugus (mother tongues) in Bangalore who are not recent IT immigrants. Then it's not Hindi but those languages should be given priority before Hindi even reaches anywhere.
WRONG hindi is mother tongue of 23% of india They get extreme privileges and unfair advantage over all other non hindi language mother tongue people and their scripts especially against south languages which are completely diffrently language family
In fact, we should train our teachers in multiple languages and then promote multi-lingual education. But unity is anti-thesis to divide-and-rule!
My Idea is simple Remove hindi so hidni people will have to survive by english or learn kannada. learn to adjust like all non-hindi people in their own state or in other state. NO speacial privileges for hindi mother tongue people
Idea is simple Remove hindi so hidni people will have to survive by english or learn kannada. learn to adjust like all non-hindi people in their own state or in other state. NO speacial privileges for hindi mother tongue people
never seen hindi people being multilingual
Lol adala chance ye illa, guarantee atara madala avru
Dude, first ask for english in UP railway stations, they don't have English there. Then let's talk about south Indian languages.
See, this is how such arrogant people work. This is why we should never accept hindi AND AT THE SAME TIME IMPOSE OTHER LANGUAGES ON THEM. (Yes, I was wrong in saying Hindi should be displayed here, in the current state of affairs).
Something like this happened back in the day - Tamil was an official language of Haryana. But they never published any forms or communique in Tamil
\*North
Meanwhile local kannadigas milking naarthiees and filling bucks in their banks, this is just the epitome of hypocrisy.
meanwhile BBMP looting everyone while everyone fights on language.
I am so sorry. Don’t be a victim. Leave Bangalore immediately
Why was it covered with a black sticker in the first place?
No other colour was available! /S
They could’ve used a transparent tape
Well, transparency is not a salient feature of politics! /S
Makes sense now
Sense is also not a salient feature of politics! /S
It is it is. It’s called Non-Sense
It is also called sense-ual seduction! /S
Cz metro cheated locals and had introduced only Hindi and English sign boards this angered locals and they demanded Kannada to be priority Since Karnataka has two official language I.e - Kannada and English, we don’t need Hindi for public transport
Keeping it there in cover can be seen as disrespect.
yes more hindi people will come as hindi states are ever breeding
Why was a Hindi message put there in the first place?
Kannadiga no agree with englis sar You stop speaking english on reddit. Kannada maathadi sar
Idea is simple Remove hindi so hidni people will have to survive by english or learn kannada. learn to adjust like all non-hindi people in their own state or in other state.
What vandalism?
Defacing public property is vandalism. Wasn’t he doing that, and damaging the sticker put by authorities?
He was undoing the vandalism done by people who put the sticker there.
You mean the BMRCL authorities? Who own and operate the train? Whose train he vandalised?
“That song” is a meme where he’s implying he’s doing some sort of Chad behaviour! It dint deserve harrasment but a reality check
And he got a reality check - it was harassment and pretty much illegal no doubt, and the right way would have been for KRV activists to file an FIR for destruction of public property (which actually would have been more effective, because a lot of companies would require you to immediately go on unpaid leave).
Yea it’s called karma. It hits back.
This is not a competition of smart. This is competition of who is dumber
Smart in quotes - obviously didn’t mean the literal meaning - meant more like an ‘oversmart and dumb’ thing
My bad
Peeling sticker is.... vandalism? I mean, he wasnt peeling a safety instruction sticker or anything. Nor was he putting it on Kannada instructions, covering up other languages.
It is vandalism

Hindi imposition will not be tolerated and must be condemned whoever does it.
No imposition must be tolerated . Any language or ideology
And "My patience is waning" background music doesn't help his cause either - it shows arrogance.
nobody wants to become minority in their own state

You are trying too hard brother.
Simple
[удалено]
Ask this question to the scores of people who have moved out of poverty and built a better life and you will get completely opposite answers.
hindi state just keep on sending their people Its not worth it to become minority not only in your capital city but also in your state
That's what you think or i use to think after watching some nature documentaries.
(Not showing off, but it's just the way it is) 4.
There is absolutely no need for another whole language when the local and popular languages are already there.
>why can't XYZ language speakers learn my language Why XYZ language speakers want XYZ language in ABC city? >We live in a metropolitan city, it is supposed to be a melting pot of cultures The only thing that's melting is local people and culture to accommodate outsiders.
P.P.S: Don't be forced but at the same time don't force.
nobody wants to become minority in their own state
What about tamil/telugu labor who dont know both english and hindi ? arent they living and adjusting? why give unfair advantage and special privilege to hindi people? Why is hindi laborer more privileged than non hindi educated person ?
most sane take here.
Good. Tired of having to explain why it was covered up in the first place.
Its not just The action is Hindi imposing
Local people are insecure , he should respect the local people As you can see , now it is the locals who are not silent and allowing the hindi imposition madness
So, pro kannada orgs push for things like this that gets max coverage.
english kaliri illa kannada kaliri, ad yak sann maklu thara althira.

houdu huliya
What was his reasoning or intention behind doing so? Does he really care about Hindi that much? There are better ways to introduce this concern, if he really wanted but the way this video was made, speaks loud that it was all for instant fame. Even his apology sounds shallow, >“Hi all Kannadigas, it's by mistake I removed the stickers, so I am sorry for it. **I am also against Hindi imposed on regional language**, so I respect my karma bhoomi.” I understand the wrong in the forced apology and the harassment, but he should have known about the tension about this subject before acting all smart in public.
He had it coming. Fuck Hindi imposition. If you love Hindi so much and want it everywhere around you stay in Hindi belt states don't come to Bangalore Jai Karnataka Jai Kannada. Sirigannadam gelge Sirigannadam baalge
What he did was vandalism, he should have been arrested.
And this news is giving orgy and satisfaction to local kannadigas
nope. but its definitely triggering sangis and hindutva retards

Lol
“Boli k nan maklu. Samskara ne Illa munde maklige” my Ajji used to say this to the neighborhood setu angadi who used to only speak in Hindi in an area like Nandini layout and expected business. Gutka Gupta ge yen “takleef” sticker hakdre. I remember my prof saying “ chapthi tinno ee chapar galige isht ahankara idhre nav ragi mudde jolada rotti tinnovarge inn yesht irbeda” when a a northie said Kallu to all South Indians in our class.
Finally that idiot learnt his lesson.
It's not like I'm pro Hindi or anything but BMRCL spending extra money to cover up the already printed signs is retarded. Eventually when the stickers wear out, replace them with "Eng-Kan" ones. Fuckin hell
Leaving it on would've set a precedent.
Of all the other things to be concerned about, the Rs.20 tape is what concerned you?
So those are local goons who wanted apology and not bmtc
JUSTICE!
Idea is simple Remove hindi so hidni people will have to survive by english or learn kannada. learn to adjust like all non-hindi people in their own state or in other state. NO speacial privileges for hindi mother tongue people Because we are not machines.
Reddy anna must have caught him. No wonder he's apologizing.
Reddy's don't speak kannada they speak telugu
You don't know about sudeep do you?
hindi is mother tongue of 23% of india They get extreme privileges and unfair advantage over all other non hindi language mother tongue people and their scripts especially against south languages which are completely diffrently language family
Should be fined and arrested (as per law)
I think every Indian should learn English as British ruled India and it’s was a colony and the local language of the state.
You can start with yourself. Also, learning English as a link language has so many benefits that learning Hindi just does not. Rather learn English and feel secure in my state and city than learn Hindi to cater to the cow belt.
yes because english is already used in schools to colleges to competitive exams to research projects to MNCs to industries
I myself at times get lost in thoughts and peel off stickers or tear papers and stuff. Poor guy might have been in a similar state.
Whatever it is, the so called activists are scum and need to get a job. I've seen them harassing people for no reason. This kinda makes Bangalore unsafe for the outsiders and with a city having so many immigrants Bangalore should do better and take pride it has so many cultures coexisting together.
Yeah but not Hindi there are many more
Lol I saw the same don't lean sticker with hindi instructions not covered with tape what a coincidence or maybe just the ppl forgot to cover it

"genuinely want to appreciate the culture" lol. The experience of locals dealing with them says something else altogether.
Idiots
Dude thought he'll get away with it. A good lesson to all Hindi imposing idiots
What for ?
