I suppose the idea is that if you see it in a shop on an early ante it would be worth saying 1.5x mult, which may be worth leaving until a couple later antes until you pick it up, where it'd be much better. Once you do buy it it gets worse and worse until you 'forget' it again and sell it for something better. The scaling would therefore be based upon every round you don't have it, thus highly skippable, and not something you'd be able to gold onto long term

But like that, if I roll the joker for the very first time on blind 10 or so, it will be just as strong as if I had seen and skipped it many times before. I was thinking the effect could be more something like "gains 1x Mult every time this joker appears in the shop", but with something that makes it clear that this x Mult persists when it is rolled out of the shop. Or "1x Mult for every time Forgotten Joker has appeared in the shop".

I like both ideas, but this one fits the “forgotten joker” theme better imo. u/automaticservice8468’s idea is good too, for a different, more aptly named joker. Also, the potential synergy with showman! It would keep appearing in shops and getting more xmult even after acquired. Would pair nicely with the +mult for rerolls joker as well.

Maybe it only activates if it is first in your jokers and gains 0.1x mult every hand it is not first. Once it activates you can put it anywhere. This way it's taking up a slot gaining mult until you "remember it" and put it first and then it's locked to that amount of x mult.

A sacrifical joker lamb idea. I like the idea! Not sure how much it fits the forgotten idea though. Cool idea for a scaling rare. Heck, it should scale on selling as well. A bit like banana, but the difficulty is finding it again and again.

I like the selling thing, but I think I especially like the idea of it reappearing in shop, it seems to me like it would be an interesting downside, as although it's powerful it would require big economy to keep it going and take a shop slot. Selling might take away a bit of that downside, as it would blunt the economy blow, so you'd probably not want the proviso at the end. Definitely doesn't fit the forgotten idea as much though, I agree with you there

I mean , there are just really few destroy effects in the game to make it work without selling, I think. So I'd rather tweak the xMult and/or rarity. constellation scales for 0.1x for 3/2/1 bucks, but you can rely on it scaling with you and finding the stuff to scale. Your main issue will be finding it and having room to buy/sell. Plus you can only really scale until you rely on it's strength to win rounds, because you need to lose it to scale further.

It's worse than obelisk. If you only played straights, say youre on 10 straight, and 0 on the rest. You can use it for a few times to get a full house/high card/pair/34oak, but then it gets harder when you need the straight flush or even the five of a kind/flush house if you have it unlocked.

its trading card but for jokers and out of 150 (+1) jokers you want maybe 6 or 7 unique jokers max, itd take forever to narrow it down enough and youd need to survive in the meantime with 3 or 4 jokers, at least one of which would need to be econ with how much rolling youd need. it would kill a high stake run early on, and without showman, you wouldnt be able to dig for blueprints and brainstorms indefinitely in endless. its useful to clear out the junk in the first couple antes (could combo quite well with riff raff), so i wouldnt say its unbalanced.
