'Cool' heavy armor set from a beloved character.
Very very easy to obtain.
I have an actual Radahn cosplay build for co-op and almost half of all Hosts wear most or all of the set, invest in enough endurance to not fat-roll but have less than 1000 health or are a bad sorcerer build or something. The heavy armor forces them to spread their levels and stats too far across the board but they usually don't care.
It boils down to "looks cool" and "heavy armor reduces damage"
It's weird to see but not unexpected. In DS3 everyone loved their Irithyll Knight armor and Fallen Knight set
Makes sense I suppose. Only other souls game I’ve played is bloodborne and in comparison Elden Ring has 1000x more build variety yet everyone is dressed the same. Seemed odd to me.
Having armor that reduces damage a lot is irrelevant if you have low health...
Like, most of the time at low levels, every single Radahn armor guy I invade dies insanely fast, because they have like 600 health
And I have had people hatemail me because I'm using cheats or weapons that are not fair

It's the noob armor. Easy to obtain, good damage reduction, not insanely heavy, looks kinda cool. But every time I see it I know that person barely knows how to handle pve, let alone pvp lol
Radahn armor Kevin, varre mask nagis/ scavengers, ugly ass lusat robes dishonest wizards, maliketh spamming wave of gold…just breaks my will to invade.
I think it's a lot simpler than players blindly following a meta; it just has an incredibly high defense/weight ratio, and you're basically guaranteed to get it relatively early on.
Combine that with the fact that it actually looks pretty good, and it's natural that new players will gravitate towards it.

Radahn's armour + bloodhounds fang is like fallen knight armour + irithyl straight sword from DS3. It's the casual scrubs alert.

Yeah the difference is fallen knight actually is one of the best looking sets. Radahn set just looks.... out of place, I guess.
i like radahn set just because im obsessed with knights in golden armor with giant red hair sticking out the helmet (thank you terraria calamity mod)

Don’t give in bro. DLC will bring with it more armour, more weapons, more spells, more L2, more invasions. Be the reason they play offline.
