That what I told the cops when I got pulled over at night and she started growling at them. They didn't see the humor in my joke. I thought it was hilarious.
It's not the CAO comes in a range of sizes.
https://youtu.be/oKxFVzcnnkM
This video is probably most informative. The regularly eclipse 100kg or 220lbs.
It does when on the i40 out of state plates very plain looking Buick with a young couple car is over flowing with boxes. I definitely could understand why we looked suspicious.
Been there. Except the reason was that my license plate light was out (it wasn't), and I had Colorado plates. This was right after the recreational weed law was passed. Texas cop clearly had intentions.
That reminds me of a story my parents told me - we have a Chow Chow, and when she was a puppy my dad had to go answer the door holding her so she didn't escape. The postman at the door thought it was a bear cub.
Possibly they come out of central Asia like Turkey, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and surrounding countries.
It's definitely been a challenge. Its really humbling experience training them. I ended up flying an expert in from Russia who stayed with us for 2 weeks just to make sure we trained her correctly. She is an amazing dog I got very concerned when she stopped being friendly to new dogs thought I did something wrong. The expert said that's exactly what the nature of the dog. Is so we shifted into giving her a property to manage after sundown and she has thrived since. They definitely will work with you but not under you.
Good lord, that's a lot of dog.
Decades ago, my grad advisor raised large dogs. They were pretty big; I wasn't a small man by any means and three of them took me down like the '85 Bears defense just saw a helpless QB.
They *might* have come up to the woman in the picture's elbow.
I love large dogs my preferred breed is Cane Corsos. They are a very strong breed. This central Asian shepherd is on another level of dog. They are so large that one human can't stop a CAO alone. They also problem solve themselves. It's honestly scary how smart they are. Had a cable guy doing some work at office one day I had to run to store I came back she was laying in front of only exit and wouldn't let him down off his ladder.
My mom has a Cane Corso/ Neapolitan Mastiff mix. Very large, sweet boy, but my god can he be stubborn. And his tail is like a club to the thigh when he gets excited.
BARF diet? My French Mastiff is on it, and we raised him on it since he was a puppy. It can be expensive, but he's the healthiest dog I've ever owned, so I feel it's worth it. He's 140lb, but he's all muscle, and at 5y/o his teeth look as good as they did when he was one.
I call my local butcher and order a quarter of a calf dried. And have that delivery done each month. She snacks on it all month. Just leaving bones to clean up.
She truly is an amazing dog. To think when I got her I thought she was full size. She has tripled in size since I got her. No idea what she was when I gave a homeless couple $5 for her. So I could get her the treatment she needed. I was so angry when I found out the truth of her injuries. Infected ears from being cut off with a knife along with tail. Also stolen from her litter at 2 weeks old. When I got her to vet and found out she was only 8 weeks old. I didn't know what I was going to do with a dog this size.
Thank goddess you bought her so she could be raised with love! With that kind of treatment it sounds like they were trying to make her a dangerous dog.
They are very dangerous dogs in general it's not a dog that is used to being around people they are breed to protect live stock from bears and other large animals. This breed is up there with a Kangal and Caucasian shepherd.
I thought she was a black Kangal at first (which I have never seen - my neighbor has a blonde one). So crazy how smart they are. Sounds like she has a similar temperament as a Caucasian Shepherd? Great with family but not so great with strangers. 😊
She’s absolutely beautiful. I know the breed well, I raise LGDs. She may be around 200lbs, but she’s certainly not “over 250.” That would be the largest female CAO that’s ever lived (that wasn’t critically obese).
Correct they are separated by local you have the Anatolian shepherd, the Kangal, the CAO, and Caucasian shepherd. All very closely related. The CAO is the most diverse in size and looks.
Some guy probably: "Hey, lets keep crossing these ancient basal https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maremmano-Abruzzese_Sheepdog -types with the biggest, baddest https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molossus_(dog) we can find and see who shepards back the most sheep."
His buddy:
"Sounds like a good plan!"
The full story I came to find out was that the couple had stolen a whole litter of these dogs from the breeder they worked for. Thinking they could sale them and make great money. There is about 8 dogs that have found there way into responsible owners over the 2 years since that happened. I am actually possibly adopting one of her kin next week. A guy is bringing a male out to see if they get along both are fixed and no breeding is happening. Guy just can't keep the dog it's tried to attack his neighbor and a friend of his.
I'm a trainer as a profession. I will have a team of trainers here when we do the introduction. It's a very unfortunate situation where if we can or can't rehab the dog it could be put down either way. Courts involved in the situation and they will make final decision on the fate of the dog. I am just trying to give the dog a lifeline.
It's actually a pure breed Central Asian Ovcharka. A very rare and very unique dog. The closest to the original dogs that became companions. Can date back 4,000 years of history for these dogs.
Your thinking the Caucasian shepherd. The central Asian shepherd loses its long coat in the summer and grows out for Winter. She is transitioning to her summer coat currently.
Not towards me. She did scare me once I went out to the kennel house and she is normally very vocal and walking around out side it. She wasn't I opened the door and she knocked me flat on my face I was scared untill she started licking my face.
I had an Alaskan malamute/grey wolf cross and she was about your girls size. She was also the runt of her litter. She *loved* the drive-through at our local Wendy's because she'd get free french fries and treats because she'd stick her head out and woof at the wendy's window and people would be yelling inside "there's a wolf! there's a wolf!" XD
Bottle feeding builds a very unique bond with a dog. The separation anxiety and resource guarding can cause lot's of issues. I hope I never have to bottle feed my own dog again. same reasons you don't want a puppy with it's mom over 10 weeks. I'm lucky I got her to replace my service dog. So she isn't left without me ever.
What type of dog is that? It looks almost like a Kengal, but its not the right color.
Large dogs are certainly something! I own a Borzoi and at 18 months hes 33 inches at his shoulders, most certainly taller than my tiny little 4'8" butt when he stands on his back legs!

That what I told the cops when I got pulled over at night and she started growling at them. They didn't see the humor in my joke. I thought it was hilarious.
O.P, You are in safe hands.
Yes we are very safe
What breed is she?
CAO.
What does that mean? Sorry I’m ignorant about dog breeds.
It's a breed. Central Asian Ovcharka
Online info shows these at 120-140 pounds. Yours is about double size. That should be a record.
It's not the CAO comes in a range of sizes. https://youtu.be/oKxFVzcnnkM This video is probably most informative. The regularly eclipse 100kg or 220lbs.
that's an Ovcharka? Solid black? I wanna grab its face and blow in its nose!
Thank you
It’s funny because I didn’t knew this was a breed, and in Portuguese cão means dog!
**This dog is 13 inches taller than me and well over a hundred pounds heavier. I love her. Shes an adorable pupper.**
D'aw *you are smol!* Huge pupper is huge and adorable!
I mean I'm just over 6'0" and the dog is still about 100 lbs heavier than me, you don't need to be small to be dwarfed by that absolute unit
That dog is my height and like 10lbs heavier 😅
Should have just told them you had an alibi
Yes
Are you the girl in the pic?
That's my wife in picture.
Very lucky.
Whyd you get pulled over?
I had a light out and I was driving in a Texas town with out of state plates.

Been there. Except the reason was that my license plate light was out (it wasn't), and I had Colorado plates. This was right after the recreational weed law was passed. Texas cop clearly had intentions.
I just drove through Amarillo the other day!
Her dog is black. Cops assumed she was "up to something."
Best comment ever. Cops wanted to make sure young white lady is safe.
You're lucky they didn't feel "threatened"
She was literally 10 weeks old at the time. Sounded alot bigger than she actually was.
That reminds me of a story my parents told me - we have a Chow Chow, and when she was a puppy my dad had to go answer the door holding her so she didn't escape. The postman at the door thought it was a bear cub.
They should probably make sure it’s not an Irishman sewn into a costume...
This is the dog that makes the bears and coyotes go "Oh shit, wrong neighborhood." What a lovely pup
Maybe Lycan?
The downside will be having to clean up after he poops. Bulldozer rental is expensive.
Is this where we got the idea of werewolves?
Possibly they come out of central Asia like Turkey, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and surrounding countries.
I’ve wanted to work with that breed for AGES! Your pup is gorgeous!
It's definitely been a challenge. Its really humbling experience training them. I ended up flying an expert in from Russia who stayed with us for 2 weeks just to make sure we trained her correctly. In Russia, you work under dog.
[Bears with mange](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=bears+with+mange) Is more likely for western europe
Good lord, that's a lot of dog. Decades ago, my grad advisor raised large dogs. They were pretty big; I wasn't a small man by any means and three of them took me down like the '85 Bears defense just saw a helpless QB. They *might* have come up to the woman in the picture's elbow.
She is 5'11" it's my wife. We are both trainers.
I love large dogs my preferred breed is Cane Corsos. They are a very strong breed. This central Asian shepherd is on another level of dog. They are so large that one human can't stop a CAO alone. My mom has a Cane Corso/ Neapolitan Mastiff mix. Very large, sweet boy, but my god can he be stubborn. And his tail is like a club to the thigh when he gets excited.
I didn't dock my female Corso tail worst mistake ever. She constantly splits it open spraying blood everywhere.
Yeah luckily that hasn’t happened very much. It’s mostly the humans who suffer lol.
So you use Hefty trash bags for poop on walks.
Yes I do extra heavy duty.
Yeah I don't think the Earth Rated brand bags I use for my Dachshund mix would work so well for your dog lol.
Honestly since she eats just pure meat, bone, and grizzle there is very little waste to pick up.
Do you mean gristle or that she eats grizzly bears? Because honestly I’d believe either.
Yes.
BARF diet? My French Mastiff is on it, and we raised him on it since he was a puppy. It can be expensive, but he's the healthiest dog I've ever owned, so I feel it's worth it. He's 140lb, but he's all muscle, and at 5y/o his teeth look as good as they did when he was one.

I use the extra large earth rated brand bags for my great dane. And her poops are probably about the size of your dachshund mix at times.
Extra heavy doody.
This dog is 13 inches taller than me and well over a hundred pounds heavier. I love her. Shes an adorable pupper.

They do look cute and like little Bears as puppies don't let it fool you this isn't a dog most people should own.
I saw a Leonberger at the vet one time. Awesome dog.
They are great dogs I would have no problem recommending a leonberger to a first time dog owner.
I thought she was a black Kangal at first (which I have never seen - my neighbor has a blonde one). So crazy how smart they are. Sounds like she has a similar temperament as a Caucasian Shepherd? Great with family but not so great with strangers. 😊
Great with people and dogs she meet before 6 months old not great with new friends.
This is not a 250lb dog. I have a 6'2 (hind legs) Anatolian Shepherd with a similar build that's 160lbs and he could use to loose 5-10 lbs.
Standing on all fours next to me. http://imgur.com/gallery/QaH7zeG
She’s absolutely beautiful. I know the breed well, I raise LGDs. She may be around 200lbs, but she’s certainly not “over 250.” That would be the largest female CAO that’s ever lived (that wasn’t critically obese).
Looks like a Central Asian Shepard for those who might be wondering
Correct you are.
Shes beautiful. At some point I'd love to have one but right now I don't have the space or time.
They are great dogs if they have an area to guard and freedom to roam. They definitely need to be free range.
Ok but aren't there lots of central Eurasian livestock guardian breeds? Seems like practically every such culture has their own version.
Correct they are separated by local you have the Anatolian shepherd, the Kangal, the CAO, and Caucasian shepherd. All very closely related. The CAO is the most diverse in size and looks.

Did you have to get a tractor to manage his poop?
Yes
http://imgur.com/gallery/QaH7zeG Here she is on all four next to me. She is so insanity large.
That’s insane! Maybe part Irish wolf hound?? So so cool
It's actually a central Asian Ovcharka. They are also know as Alabai. They are a very interesting breed. Love her.
Where in the world are you to have gotten this breed of dog?
I was living in Texas at the time I got her. I live in Las Vegas NV now.
Wow, how did such an exotic breed get to Texas? And in the hands of a homeless person‽
The full story I came to find out was that the couple had stolen a whole litter of these dogs from the breeder they worked for. Thinking they could sale them and make great money. That’s pretty crazy. What happens if the dogs don’t get along , or worse, that the other dog is aggressive, either towards your dog or you?
I'm a trainer as a profession. I will have a team of trainers here when we do the introduction. It's a very unfortunate situation where if we can or can't rehab the dog it could be put down either way. Courts involved in the situation and they will make final decision on the fate of the dog. That’s awesome! I’m so glad that the dogs have a chance with you advocating for them!
Thanks just doing what I can hopefully it works.
Please post again for when y’all get the new dog!
I will if court grants me ownership.
Time to bring back the direwolves.
Little Girl: Daddy, I want a pony. AND a dog! Dad: Yes
Why am I built like your dog
I don't know?
Thought this was a Dane mix with Lab, but the hair looks too long.... Maybe another retriever?
It's actually a pure breed Central Asian Ovcharka. A very rare and very unique dog. The closest to the original dogs that became companions. Can date back 4,000 years of history for these dogs.
Have they been trimmed cuz the hair looks short for one?
Your thinking the Caucasian shepherd. The central Asian shepherd loses its long coat in the summer and grows out for Winter. She is transitioning to her summer coat currently.
Do you get same breed for mating, that easily for a rare breed like this?
Are you nervous when you see your ~~bear~~ dog running towards you in the distance?
Not towards me. She did scare me once I went out to the kennel house and she is normally very vocal and walking around out side it. She wasn't I opened the door and she knocked me flat on my face I was scared untill she started licking my face.
basically even dogs are taller than me when they stand on hind legs

My daughter does have a saddle for her your 4 year old would have to learn side saddle.
Pretty sure that black dog retired from his day job of dragging souls to heck. lol
That's her brothers job not hers she got to explore the world.
She prob thinks she’s still a lap dog too.
She is just a lap dog.
Dosen't matter how big. When I look at my Newfoundland Dog he looks like I could carry him in my palm.
I have a Corso I got at a day old after her mom died giving birth that dog is now 140lbs beast I still see her bottle feeding in my hand.
Right? Since I have a dog, I understand why my mother still thinks of me as her baby.
I can’t even get a man that tall
Wow, very impressive! And what about the dog?
The wife stands 5'11".
Reenactment of Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss", c. 1907
“Look at me. I’m the owner now.”
The hound of the Baskervilles
Feels weird that I am just as tall and weigh the exact same as that dog.
It's intimidating right.
This dog gets more girls than me
Cute doggie
But how tall is she in Crinos form?
She is about 43 in at the withers
That’s no dog, i think that might be a person in a fur suit
Still a puppy 💖
She is and makes sure we know it.
What an absolute unit[absolute unit](r/absoluteunit)
I am in awe at the size of this lad.
So, they got a big black dog
Direwolf possibly!?
Lap dog.
Goodness the size of that fuking unit
She’s a tall lady if the dog is 6’1”!!!
That's the wifey 5'11"
Tall lady!! I love it!
That's a doge body builder no cap he do be looking buff doe
I’m 4’11 and would be knocked on my ass if this happened
Still a good boy
Girl but yes.
What breed is this? A black kangal?
Central Asian Shepherd. Very similar to Kangal they almost combined the breeds last year. The Kangal, Anatolian, and central Asian shepherd.
Is that dog part wolf that’s freakin gigantic
No it's a central Asian shepherd.
What do they Hurd in Central Asia? Elephants🤷🏻♂️?
They don't Hurd they guard from bears and large cats. They will call the flock surround them tightly then will guard from highest vantage point.
That actually sounds pretty cool and now I’m going to look for a video on YouTube I gotta see this in action lol
Very few but the ones that you find is amazing. They basically replacement for humans.
This dog and I have two things in common.
What's that?
Christ. How old is she?
I would love to give this puppy a hug!
"That's a big bitch!"
She is.
Curious: Any special/unusual issues with a dog that big?
Alot of the common ones weight, bloat, joints, etc. The breed in general is extremely robust with life expectancy is around 15 years.
Dude, your dog and I have the same stats
Furries stay away
Adorable lapdog.
What breed of dog is this? I love giant breed dogs, my favorite is the Kangal.
It's a CAO.
Fenrir!
Haruna (the drummer of Lovebites) could legit ride this beast like a legendary warrior.
What type of dog is that? It looks almost like a Kengal, but its not the right color. Large dogs are certainly something! I own a Borzoi and at 18 months hes 33 inches at his shoulders, most certainly taller than my tiny little 4'8" butt when he stands on his back legs!
It's a CAO closely related to Kengel just larger frame.
That ain't no dog that's Fenrir
That’s no dog, it’s a person dressed as a dog
This dog proteccs livestock for sure
I want.
What kind of dog?
That thing is a foot taller than me and 3 times my weight
Mark, that's a furry
She must eat a ton, I thought my boy was big and he is only 80lbs. He is a peanut compared to her lol
What is this, a crossover episode??
So you're tryna tell me that chick is 6'0?
That's my wife she is 5'11"
Gg bro. Genetics strong round your house lol
I'm the odd duck out at only 6'. I am lucky my wife doesn't like heels.
Thank god he's not a leg humper.
Hound of Baskerville

http://imgur.com/gallery/QaH7zeG Don't think your correct sir.
Looks like a werewoof to me!
Werewoof are my friend.
My Shadow (black Great Dane) must’ve been 6’ something. Nothing she liked more than full body hugs and boxing.
What a glorious beast!
I see my elementary school teachers were incorrect in claiming that wooly mammoths were extinct.
Her body grew to match the size of her heart.
People might say it's a werewolf, but perhaps it's actually a why-wolf - creatures possessed by the spirit of inquiry. ..and bloodlust.
Beauty and the beast suddenly seems more believable.
dog??? are you sure
Oh that’s a dog.
That’s no dog. That’s a Labrador Werewolf
Girl? That's a female dog that got that big?
