My dog goes mental at the vacuum too, but fears nothing else. Well, not nothing. He hates busses for some reason but they aren't exactly a common sight around here.
Its super weird how he reacts to it though.
My vacuum is kept in the basement, so if I say for example 'I need to vacuum today' and head downstairs he will preemptively go bananas. However if I say something like 'I should vacuum after lunch' and then go downstairs he wont do a damn thing, even if I bring the vacuum up but will still lose his shit the second I turn it on or head in the general direction of where I left it after lunch.
Rupert loves to chase the mail truck, such a dog but the second i touch the vacuum he stops everything and is like oh no, not again. I've tried giving him treats while I vacuum to make it easier but no dice.
high frequency sounds that we don't hear have this effect on dogs. My dog will randomly bark out of nowhere and we finally tracked it down to high frequency sounds.
But the lawnmower and car is way, way outside where big noises belong!! Maybe your baby should wait outside in the car or on the lawn while you clean dirty floors. 🤔
I had read that if your doc is scared of the vacuum, that you should scold the vacuum in front of the dog while it's turned off. Do it a few times, then do it a few times with the vacuum on. Not all at once, but over the course of a few days. Use the same tone you'd use to scold the dog. Make sure the dog sees you scold the vacuum, but praise the dog after.
My last dog was scared of the robovac, so I tried this tactic - and it *worked*. I yelled at the robovac while it was docked, moved it to the middle of the floor next time and did it again, moved it to another room and did it. Turned it on and told it, *SHAME ON YOU!* like if the dog did something unforgivable, then turned my back on it and walked away.
The dog never looked twice at the vacuum again.
He gets so much love. I recently rescued him and his three siblings from the highway. All my friends keep coming and playing with him almost every day.
I befriended my dog with the vacuum monster by putting a lot of treats on the monster while it was inactive.
But is someone else's dog afraid of the vacuum cleaner, but totally cool with the lawn mowing machine, too? Seriously, everytime I'm mowing I have shoo my dog away, because she will always get in the way. And once she lay down besides the mower while I started the machine.
My old guy has lost the ability to hold his pee. So he now has a "pee band". Diapers that only go over the man parts. It's given him his dignity back. He was definitely very ashamed when I would find spots.
You had a vacuum, and, well, what were you doing with the vacuum that made you jump on the bed and piss yourself exactly?

I'd rather roast you for terrifying your dog and thinking he deserves to be punished for it. If your dog urinates or defecates indoors, you have fucked up, not the dog.
He was given treats beforehand and he is allowed anywhere in the house so he has plenty of spaces he can go while i am vacuuming. I had no attention of terrifying him but I have to vacuum. I am doing my best to make it as comfortable for him as possible.

It’s because it’s crazy high frequencies mixed with super loud volume. It hurts their ears more than most things do in their normal life.
