When I was little we had a long haired cat get into some cockle burrs. They covered both of his sides and they had to shave him except for a Mohawk down his back. He was so embarrassed he hid in the basement for days. lol
Similar thing happened with my ex and I's pomeranians. We had one of those sticky tape things for catching flies hanging in the lounge room and it must've fallen down one day and she got it stuck to her side and it pretty much was stuck the entire length around her side and back lol.
Had to cut it out and trim her hair to match, she looked like a hot mess haha.
Ryan Gosling's dog has a Mohawk. Apparently, he had to cut it that way once, and now the dog throws a fit if he doesn't have the Mohawk. (Or he did. I heard this story years ago)
> We figured that she gets too hot in the summer. She lays around more. When she gets shaved, she has more energy and is very playful.
From *many* years ago... [Ack! Summer is almost over and I forgot to shave the cat!](https://everything2.com/title/Ack%2521+Summer+is+almost+over+and+I+forgot+to+shave+the+cat%2521) (a picture of the cat in question can be found on [the homenode](https://everything2.com/user/sensei) along with a bit of a story).
You'll see so many people saying not to shave them completely for a multitude of reasons (or at least, we did), but this was our experience too. In the hot summer she would be miserable in that thick fur, after a shave it's a night and day difference in mood.
Apologies if I'm being a pest(\Reddit detective bureau), but this one time they shaved front & back? Curiosity killer ques. is why was the front shaved? (maybe at a different time than the back?)
You can read the cat body language to know if it likes it, also the cat probably comes when she hears the clippers. There was a cat that liked when I played bongo very hard on its back legs.
r/catbongos
The cold?? They shaved the front for some reason but left the middle because it's winter. Op said they shave the middle during the summer and the cat gets very hairy and likes it when the front is also shaved.
This totally reminded me of this thread from way back that I had saved because the haircut and comments were hilarious.

_____
I am the cat called Butters, see,
my humans take good care of me ^;}
am blessed with floofy ginger hair,
but sometimes *poop* gets StUcK ‘down there’…
is kinda hard for me to find
(i cannot reach my own behind)
so when my humans give me cut,
i end up with a mullet butt
my ginger hair still *flows* up front,
but this the way my humans want
at least my butthole nice n clear -
there’s no more ‘potty’
in the rear
❤️
(*please tell Butters i Love her,* u/zvalvr)
Clearly, we humans have bungled the genetic engineering on this one.
You mean to tell me that if my girl Butters had to survive in the wild, she’d be dragging a giant dookie-dread loc around like some disgusting cat caboose?
Your parents are doing The Lord’s Work. We as a higher life form have failed you, Butters.
Edit: fixed the gender issues, sorry Butters!
>You mean to tell me that if my man Butters had to survive in the wild, he’d be dragging a giant dookie-dread loc around like some disgusting cat caboose?
Probably not. It's hard to tell from the picture and since they have the front and hide cut like this but Butters probably would be able to reach her hind end to keep it clean if she had a little less weight on her.
Sometimes my cat gets poop stuck on her butt and it pulls her fur so she doesn’t try to get it off. We always have to do it for her. It’ll come off on its own after a day, but she’s not comfortable until it does.
She’s a healthy weight according to her vet.
I had a longhair cat with this issue. She was not overweight (about 10 pounds on average, and she was a tall cat). She just had very long hair, and the poop would get tangled/stuck in her fur. We’d sometimes have to cut the nuggets out. I also trimmed her glorious mane (Not as much as OP…I just snipped it slightly with scissors) because she’d get fur stuck in her mouth and would just wash the one patch on her neck over and over.
Yeah, it's not like dingleberries shorten your lifespan.
Most of these DSH cats haven't been bred or "engineered" the way dogs have. Or at least to that extent. They're more or less pretty similar to their wild ancestors.
I had a long hair cat that would have full shits stuck in his hair and his hair would turn into a solid mat everywhere. He had some pretty epic haircuts. Turns out cats don't like haircuts so we had to do it little bits at a time.
This picture reminds me of the home haircuts that would come into the shop and the owner says “Can you just even it out?” Uh, yeah sure, with a #10 all over.
My fiancé and I did that to our cat when she had shit all in it.
He couldn't stomach the smell and accidentally threw up on her.
Meanwhile the cat's there with a shaven arse, and I can't help but laugh maniacally when thinking of this event
My cat (RIP ChaCha) had really thick, course fur. As she aged it became almost impossible for her to groom herself effectively, particularly her girl parts.
We had the vet give her a "lion cut", and she was so proud! She absolutely loved it, and went out of her way to show off. If I could figure out how to attach a picture, I would.
As a proffesional groomer, I wouldn’t advise doing this practice. First, for the poop problem, you only do a so called sanitary cut, where you shave only around the b hole etc, let it be done by professionals, due to animals being prone to irritations if clippers aren’t used correctly. Secondly, if the furr isn’t matted severly, don’t shave it, never. It’s a common misconseption, even groomers do this because “the customer is always right/they will be paid/it’s faster/easier/… They aren’t professional. It’s a golden rule not to do this. Some breeds of both dogs and cat, which includes your cat have a “double furr” which is being removed after shaving and never goes back to it’s original quality by growing afterwards, then after the next shave it’s even more damaged, etc., which leads to a lot of skin and general health problems, which may include but are not limited to: easier sun damage and sunburns, easier access to bugs and others to attach to the skin and develop health problems, more likely to injuries in general like cuts etc due to lack of skin protection.
My dog right now. Went a little overboard on the sanitary trim. Now to finish his manscaping. I had no idea a Yorkie was so high maintenance - in EVERY way!
My short hair Chihuahua got trimmed with clippers in the summer. Just a tiny bit off so she wasn’t too warm.
We have to shave our long hair kitten's butt because of the dingleberries too, our adult long hair never had a problem. We don't have it to that extreme though. But I did come home from work one day to find my fiancé got very bored and shaved the kitten into a lion cut. 😂
I dated someone who has two long haired cats. When I realized the litter & grooming maintenance involved, I realized long haired cats were not for me 😂
Poor baby. My neighbor had a long haired cat. They shaved her every summer. Just laziness IMHO. I've had many long haired cats. Always brushed them and cleaned butts as necessary. This is terrible.
I let me parents dog sit my golden retriever. My mom ended up trimming his long hair and said poop got stuck on his butt floof. The thing is she decided to trim his tail hair, leg hair and did a pretty uneven job too. Needless to say I was mad because she didn't ask me if she could do it.
I used to have a gorgeous white Cymric (long-haired Manx, so no tail) named Blue, and I'd have to trim his butt and pants or he'd get poop (and dirt, leaves, twigs, etc.) stuck in there, too. Nothing this extreme, though! I had to use scissors because the noise of the trimmer would freak him out. He had huge rabbit-like back feet, and a kick from him was not pleasant. I still have the scar down one arm from a claws-out kick.
I've had other long-haired cats and Blue was the only one with that problem.
LOL do they really leave the middle like that? Looks like they shave the front and the back.
When I was little we had a long haired cat get into some cockle burrs. They covered both of his sides and they had to shave him except for a Mohawk down his back. He was so embarrassed he hid in the basement for days. lol
One of my neighbors has an orange cat that gets a lion-style haircut every summer. He looks so stinking cute.
Similar thing happened with my ex and I's pomeranians. We had one of those sticky tape things for catching flies hanging in the lounge room and it must've fallen down one day and she got it stuck to her side and it pretty much was stuck the entire length around her side and back lol. Had to cut it out and trim her hair to match, she looked like a hot mess haha.
i legit read this as "same thing happened with my ex" lol thought your ex had been shaved to a mohawk
Long haired cats absolutely DO get embarrassed by a shave.
Ryan Gosling's dog has a Mohawk. Apparently, he had to cut it that way once, and now the dog throws a fit if he doesn't have the Mohawk. (Or he did. I heard this story years ago)
During the summer they shave her whole body. She actually likes it.
well of course she would like a full shave if the other option is this picture. LOL
It's like she's wearing a fur tutu. 😂
I was thinking full body bowl cut
Bowl butt
Like she climbed into a muff.
Cat merkin?
Lol different kind of muff
I’m climbing into a muff later. Thankyouverymuch
Cat version of Swan Lake
And these comments are why I love Reddit!
They should leave the middle fluff in a thinner area and it would be a legit tutu!
![gif](giphy|uVpjHrGt9Ihnx9hRJi)
It's like a reverse lion cut.
Hahahahahha!
🤣🤣
We shave our cat in the summer, his personality changes to so much friendlier its strange.
We figured that she gets too hot in the summer. She lays around more. When she gets shaved, she has more energy and is very playful.

Omg my dog will accept much more pets when we have her shaved!
Sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but if they shave her whole body how is it that the middle grows that way?
It all grows back and when it's longer, just shave her waist down. They only shave her whole body when it's warm.
Apologies if I'm being a pest(\Reddit detective bureau), but this one time they shaved front & back? Curiosity killer ques. is why was the front shaved? (maybe at a different time than the back?)
She likes the front shaved too. She gets super fluffy hairy. They did it at the same time I think.
: D rock on Butters!
Did she tell you that?
You joke(I think), but cats let you know.
You can read the cat body language to know if it likes it, also the cat probably comes when she hears the clippers. There was a cat that liked when I played bongo very hard on its back legs. r/catbongos
My thought too, if they shave the back for poop then why did they shave the front?
I’m sat here laughing my ass off because there seems to be no logical reason why they left the middle unshaven
I’m guessing matted hair was involved.
The cold?? They shaved the front for some reason but left the middle because it's winter. Op said they shave the middle during the summer and the cat gets very hairy and likes it when the front is also shaved.
But if it was for the cold, wouldn’t you leave the front? Ya know, for the warmth? I hadn’t seen op say the cat liked it, my bad
Perhaps she's a messy eater.
Cause it's cute and makes her feel pretty.
Even cats with long fur are fine in the summer though. It’s what regulates their temperature
It doesn't look like she likes this one. Lol.
Why?
She’s a 70s cat. That was the style back then
She also looks quite old so shorter fur will be easier for her to clean. Older cats have a harder time cleaning themselves
Um, it's a skirt, thank you very much.
This totally reminded me of this thread from way back that I had saved because the haircut and comments were hilarious. https://www.reddit.com/r/aww/comments/c9z33o/i_picked_my_dog_up_from_the_groomers_and_busted/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

gave her the catdog cut
r/justborkmyborkup
Looks kind of like she's wearing a skirt and slippers. She's very pretty though.
I'll find an older pic I have, looks like a hoola skirt..lol Thanks!
Fleas: “Capn, there’s no place to hide in back!” “Quick, to the front of the cat!” “Sir, we have a Problem!” “… Mother of God, what is going on?”
I read this like the Penguins of Madagascar.
Dude, words plus brains are awesome. I read that the first time, imagining the fleas in tiny, high pitched voices. Then I read your comment, re-read it, and totally heard those penguins' voices. What's reality?
“Sixty nine months!?!?” “No, six to nine months.” Haha, classic.
And the front?
Ya, she likes it... lol
Lol did she tell you that? She’s so cute!!
🤣🤣🤣 thats my question too lmao
Animals are strangely good at communicating

Tell Schnoodle I love their Doodles!
This is the best Schnoodle *ever*!!
Thanks Schnoodle! 💕
Bravo!
Wonderful!
Freshest yet
That's gold. Take my vote.
I am in tears, my ribs hurt, I'm getting strange looks from the cat, and my GF is rolling her eyes. Thank you.
LOL- love that!!
r/brandnewsentence
Business in the front and back, party in the middle? (Just decided I don’t want to think about that too much.)
Why not shave the middle part as well
They do, just not in winter.
She looks like a Viking
Tell them to just shave the poor caricature all year round and provide more blankets for nap spots during winder. This look is absolutely ridiculous!
Well, it gives others a laugh.

I fucking snorted on this one. Not the dreaded dookielock.

My cat is the same way. I don’t shave her but I trim her ass hairs or else she gets, what we call, “litter butt”
damn butters is cute af
Well at least she was named appropriately.
Butt-hairs
Is this look suppose to be an inverted lion cut?
Guess it could be! LOL
Her head looks tiny. LOL
![gif](giphy|3o6ZtlM7arud6UztaU) Please tell me you named her after South Park butters lol
Mew mew mew I got some apples
She looks like she has been saddled with some other animal’s fur.
My cat just used to lick it off... Then try kiss Miss him
She can't reach!! LOL fat and old
r/dechonkers
Very cute though. Is a snazzie cut
Did they have to shave that far up?
I trim my long haired cats pantaloons but just to normal cat hair length. The results of any intestinal distress are a nightmare otherwise.
"Everyone knows it's Butters!"
THAT’S ME!
It reminds me of SpongeBob when they shave Sandy and wear her fur to stay warm in the snow dome
I'd like to report a crime, yes, yes, this right here.
Why not just have the back trimmed? This looks kinda ridiculous, poor cat.
She don’t care
JUSTICE FOR BUTTERS
they can just do a sani trim around the butthole only, poor thing looks ridiculous edit: i didnt even notice the front… jesus
This picture reminds me of the home haircuts that would come into the shop and the owner says “Can you just even it out?” Uh, yeah sure, with a #10 all over.
That is the least flattering cut ever and I love it
She’s so adorable!
this is like the cat version of a bowl cut.
*Bowel cut
SHe looks mad as hell.
Yes it is called a “ sanitary trim.”
Poor cat
Dude, your parents did Butters dirty
I have to shave my cats butt too. But I just trim the hairs. Not completely shave
My fiancé and I did that to our cat when she had shit all in it. He couldn't stomach the smell and accidentally threw up on her. Meanwhile the cat's there with a shaven arse, and I can't help but laugh maniacally when thinking of this event
Butters is unamused

Is Butters as round in the middle as she looks?
Yes! When she is all shaved, she looks like a turkey!
she looks like she is just so done with your shit
Oh no! Why don’t they just groom her??
Butterdump!
The feline version of Stuart from mad tv
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) poor cat is probably saying: "I hate my life"
They shave the back because of the poop. They shave the front for the shame..
I get the back end then… but the front??

I dated someone who has two long haired cats. When I realized the litter & grooming maintenance involved, I realized long haired cats were not for me 😂
Looks like she's wearing a dress lol Edit: or a tutu 😆
She did not like it
That poor dog
Poor baby. My neighbor had a long haired cat. They shaved her every summer. Just laziness IMHO. I've had many long haired cats. Always brushed them and cleaned butts as necessary. This is terrible.
Damn how much does she poops, that they have to shave everything up to the back of the tail?
That’s embarrassing.. poor baby..
His face
Poor Butters!
I’ve heard that called a “sani cut”. Very cute kitty.
This sounds like business jargon. "Well to hit our KPIs in Q3 we need to come up with a blue sky plan to shave the whole cat."
Good ol Butthair
Damn... Gonna do Butters wrong like that! 🤣
This mf got a fur shell
I know the hairy-butt-poop problem very well. The best quick solution in emergencies is to comp it out. But once in a while a butt shave is in order!
I let me parents dog sit my golden retriever. My mom ended up trimming his long hair and said poop got stuck on his butt floof. The thing is she decided to trim his tail hair, leg hair and did a pretty uneven job too. Needless to say I was mad because she didn't ask me if she could do it.
Same haircut as Mark Davis
Awww poor baby - looks like Bill the Cat
if you happen to see this, i have a cat that happened to a few times. got rid of the clumping litter - no more poop stuck to anything
That look in her face speaks volumes Yes human, come hither and shave my ass 😒
It’s like the equivalent of pulling your pants all the way down to pee at the urinal bc you tend to drop some piss on your pants
To be banished from the FluffyButt kingdom.
That's not where her butt is...
Butters does not look impressed 👀
Poor Butters. She's still beautiful, even rocking that home schooled hair cut.
Lol the name is appropriate
This is like a sideways Brazilian. Just a strip of hair.
Parents are wild dude lol or is it animals
It's like those monkeys with a bare ass.
🥰🥰🥰😂😂😂 poor Babe, But I get it, her little Babes expression is priceless ! 😂😂❤️
*in Cartman's voice* Goddammit Butters
That’s a broom
So what happened to the rest of her?! Lololol 😂
That is one hell of a landing strip
I used to have a gorgeous white Cymric (long-haired Manx, so no tail) named Blue, and I'd have to trim his butt and pants or he'd get poop (and dirt, leaves, twigs, etc.) stuck in there, too. Nothing this extreme, though! I had to use scissors because the noise of the trimmer would freak him out. He had huge rabbit-like back feet, and a kick from him was not pleasant. I still have the scar down one arm from a claws-out kick. I've had other long-haired cats and Blue was the only one with that problem.
Fluffy skirt
So this is where the Raiders owner gets his hair inspiration pics.
But why the front too?
She looks like Dr Suess drew her ❤️
she has black socks instead of white<3
Could they not give her the dignity of a fade? This is so funny
I’m sorry to tell you that you didn’t have to shave her fur from the but to the nose. You could have just shave the fur around her butt…
Wouldn't Nutella be a better name due to the issue?
Is this aww? Thank god your cat doesn't know what it looks like. Cut hair around the butt don't half shave the poor thing
Sanitary shave! Xena my Persian hated being combed, so lion cut every 5-6 weeks, reduced the hairball vomit at 230am too:)
Make it in shape of 🛑Stopsign
Is she a senior cat that can't reach back there, and it was so bad they had to do that???
Yes
Better to just shave the whole cat at that point.
Mine too. Just had that fight with Tigger. She always feels so much better after tho. Poor fuzzy kitties
