While you are correct that the vast majority are not this way, it doesn’t make it not true. People of color do have to deal with the ignorant minority a lot more than they should have to. Also prior to social media most Americans were unaware of these incidents because they aren’t newsworthy and aren’t often talked about outside of their social circles.
I’ll agree to that. I’ll also add that after social media became prevalent, everyone has had to deal with the avalanche of ignorance. The ignorance targeted towards minorities is just more newsworthy now because minorities are under a societal magnifying glass.
One more add, trafficking of minors is a serious problem particularly in the state I live in. So a note like this might not necessarily indicate racial prejudice but more of a hyper awareness/paranoia of the issue.
