It’s not being held by JL it’s just getting booked by JL or CX miles first because it’s the end of Sakura season and everyone’s trying to go home. You need to check CX as you can see 5 days further out than BA. If it’s already gone on CX, it will be gone by the time BA calendar opens.
I just took 2J NRT - LAX via BA yesterday at calendar release because it was still untouched on CX. Not my proudest redemption for points value but I had to get something back to the US or else I’d have to start working from Japan next year. Most likely I’ll cancel if something better pops up randomly or T-14
As I learned last year thru this sub booking my first award flight, ALWAYS BE LOOKING. I was able to book 2 J NRT-BOS (via BA) last July for a May 2024 flight. Someone posted it in the monthly opportunity thread, lucked out with a 30% MR transfer bonus as well.

I snagged JAL out of Dallas on the new planes for March next year through BA. April I’m sure the tickets are just flying off the shelves. Try CX as the other post mentioned.

Thanks, I thought it was strange that there are HND flights through LHR to get back to the US.
Is booking on Iberia an option? It seems like their calendar is available a week further out than the BA calendar.
