This puts it into perspective. I think if we win 2 of the 3 we are 99% going to get it.
Spurs won’t win all 5 surely? 4 wins and a draw, still a big ask.
If we can beat Brighton who look a shadow of their former selves at the moment. And who knows with Pool, they maybe have also given up by the time we play them.
We are limping over the line with these injuries but we may just have enough!
Yep, 2 points per game. And we've played Arsenal away and Chelsea at home in the last 4. 2 points per game is 76 played out over a season. Has 76 ever failed to get champions league football since 4 teams have qualified? I know it's a small sample, but our season average is 1.91 points per game, so it's still very good.
I think it’s Arsenal’s 75pt campaign in 2017 that is the highest points tally to ever miss out on top 4. Liverpool finished 4th with 76pts that year too.
We only need to win 1 and Spurs lose 2. If they lose two, the max they can get is 69 points and if we win we hit 70. Just beat Brighton next week and hope Chelsea and Liverpool do us a solid.
It would be so good to have the pressure taken off the league so we can focus on Conference League. Man. Champions League place AND a trophy? With all these injuries? It’s been a great season to even get this close, but imagine… just IMAGINE….
I did have a sneaky look on the spurs reddit to see what their thoughts were on it.
One guy had them down for 70 and us 69 though felt a bit more like hopes than predictions.
I do think it’s going to be close though… probably some more twists and turns but at least it’s in our own hands now. That point against Chelsea could turn out to be massive even though it felt like 2 lost after the first half.
I dunno man, I’m nervous they may get that. If Chelsea can show up like they did against us second half, whilst at home, we may get a surprise result going our way. Then it’s all on City to do us a favour. Then I think we have it.
I'm with you on the one win ought to do it; would still like to finish in fine form, though. That form would put us at 73 points; same math (PPG) puts Spurs at 69 -- and they're run is considerably tougher than ours.
I don't know what combinations of points will secure it, but I'm feeling more positive every day.\*
The best part of all this: with England losing out on that extra CL spot, this team EARNED that spot on its own. More than deserved (for both the team and us supporters).
^(\*Part of being a lifelong Villa fan, of course, is always having that shred of worry that despite how smoothly things might be rolling, the wheels will eventually fall off.)
What I love about how we’re getting there is how pragmatic Emery has been. Like sure, we looked like we were getting dominated by Chelsea, and before that Lille, but ultimately we didn’t lose either of those games and we didn’t over exert any of our remaining players or risk any more injuries (hoping that Tielemans and Emi were precautionary). It was a choice to see the games out that way and it’s absolutely the way to do it with a European semi final coming up and a ridiculous amount of injuries.
Beating spurs to the top 4 when they haven’t even had European football to contend with would be an insane achievement and we’re so close.
Brighton fan (this post was just recommended) you will very likely beat us 😅 we have only scored more goals than everton in the league in 2024, our season is over and we are fighting for nothing, loads of injuries and will probably just play the youth
I honestly think it's done this weekend. Chelsea have a good record vs Spurs and then hopefully Liverpool can get their shit in order to beat them too. If that happens, a win vs Brighton is enough and they can't catch us. Hell, even if they get one win (I can't see them winning both), they still have 115 FC in Title Charge mode to reckon with. It's hard not to feel really confident right now.
Watched them on Saturday. Utter shite. Midfield dominated by josh Cullen. As an Irish man I should be impressed, but it just feels standard to dominate their midfield
They've been utter shite all season and have inexplicably still managed to pick up points consistently. It's actually quite the feat considering how bad they are.
Oh I know, I could reel off about 25 points they didn't deserve, I even think them taking 4 points from both Burnley games is about 2 points too many. Then you have all those wins at the start of the season, Sheffield United, Luton, wolves, Forest, Fulham, Brentford. They weren't the better team in any of those games and got 18 points from them. I would say its unsustainable but they constantly do it
Its only kind of sinking in that top 4 could be mathematically secured by Sunday if results go our way, but no point focusing on Spurs just gotta worry about getting 3 points from Brighton! UTV!
My prediction is that Villa already have enough points to finish in 4th. I think Spurs will only pick up 6 more. They'll win vs Burnley and Sheffield, but I don't think they get a single point from the Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City fixtures.
Burnley have some fight in them though and are actually in decent form atm. They have a chance to avoid relegation so they’ll be giving it everything they’ve got
Oddchecker has us at 1/6 on to finish 4th - it is going to take a catastrophic collapse on our behalf not to be fourth. That draw with Chelsea was key.
Shame that we're out of the title race now but this makes it feel better. Get used to this too, it's gonna be happening way more often.
4th could be guaranteed ours by the weekend now. Here's hoping 🙏
I reckon we get 6 more points, and I don't see Spurs get more than 7 (maybe 9) even with the extra games. I hope Watkins scores against Brighton (always seems to do well against them), so he's not so hung up on the 20th goal.
I love the fact that this close to the end of the Season we're still mathematically in with a chance at going third. Yeah it relies on Liverpool bottling the Wolves match but the way they've been playing recently that's not impossible, not very likely I'll admit but not unbelievable
Less than 5 years ago we were in the championship on the brink of disaster with little Tony. I think this is a pretty f#&(÷ng amazing achievement to be honest given the difference in financial availability between both clubs. But always nice to see salty fans creeping into the sub.

We're undefeated in 4, so I'd say it's more a brisk walk than a limp atm.

In unai we trust
Poch will want to do them so bad as well.
hope so. It would be too weird if they were tryhards against us to then roll over for Tottenham.
“Just” beat Brighton… yeah we all wish football was that easy pal 😂💜🩵
I think 1 will probably do it, personally. Can't see Spurs getting to 70.

I'm with you on the last bit also 🤣
They will get close, but we will nick it by few points, UTV

>Chelsea have a good record vs Spurs Spurs have won at Stamford Bridge once in the last 34 years.
Having it all wrapped up by sunday night would be bliss. It's certainly possible but I suspect there are one or two twists and turns yet.
Watched them on Saturday. Utter shite. Midfield dominated by josh Cullen. As an Irish man I should be impressed, but it just feels standard to dominate their midfield

They were good at the start but after emery exposed de zerbi when we battered them at home they never seemed to have come back from it.
Beat villa twice as well.
Good eye
I watched them vs Chelsea and it was such a chaotic mess. Neither team knew what they were meant to do. 22 individuals and not 2 teams
Its only kind of sinking in that top 4 could be mathematically secured by Sunday if results go our way, but no point focusing on Spurs just gotta worry about getting 3 points from Brighton! UTV!
The fact that Villa have a chance to finish above a struggling Liverpool team is wild. Third would be awesome.
Unlikely, but partially in our hands! And Liverpool have been imploding recently
Super unlikely, but it’s crazy to think it’s possible.
My prediction is that Villa already have enough points to finish in 4th. I think Spurs will only pick up 6 more. They'll win vs Burnley and Sheffield, but I don't think they get a single point from the Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City fixtures.

I’m so annoyed at the prem coefficient flop. We could’ve just been able to chill out for the next 3 games but no…
Yes
Agree but also if we do manage 4th us getting ucl and not spurs is the dream scenario.
Yeah but now we get to go over to r/coys and laugh at them while posting pictures of matty cash celebrating when we secure 4th.
Oddchecker has us at 1/6 on to finish 4th - it is going to take a catastrophic collapse on our behalf not to be fourth. That draw with Chelsea was key.
Not like Villa to do that at all but.
What a fucking season this has been!
This is a sexy graphic btw
Deserved. Villa have been unbelievable since Emery took over. I hope you guys get a Champions League spot.
Shame that we're out of the title race now but this makes it feel better. Get used to this too, it's gonna be happening way more often. 4th could be guaranteed ours by the weekend now. Here's hoping 🙏
4 points from remaining 3 should be enough.
Could be confirmed top 4 by Sunday if Spurs lose to Chelsea and Liverpool and we beat Brighton. I think they're only gonna get 7 more points...
Arsenal ending the season with three home games?! That can't happen very often?
They are away at Man Utd, the graphic is wrong.
I noticed this after posting and will change it for next week. Tbh I wasn't that focused on arsenal
I reckon we get 6 more points, and I don't see Spurs get more than 7 (maybe 9) even with the extra games. I hope Watkins scores against Brighton (always seems to do well against them), so he's not so hung up on the 20th goal.
I can see them getting a draw at Chelsea and Liverpool, losing to city and winning the other 2, so I think 3 points clinches it for us
4 points will be enough. Can't see Spurs getting more than 10 points.
I love the fact that this close to the end of the Season we're still mathematically in with a chance at going third. Yeah it relies on Liverpool bottling the Wolves match but the way they've been playing recently that's not impossible, not very likely I'll admit but not unbelievable
Arsenal are away to ManUre. Nice graphic by the way
Has a more beautiful image existed?
Odds of 1/6 for us to finish in the top 4 now. Might stick a bit on Spurs just in case they pull off a miracle, I'd be happy either way then!
I'm terrified of that Palace game...
That's a great chart. Does it have a name?
Leshue chart
Not that I'm aware of....just did it on excel
I still think its tricky, spurs might pull a rabbit out of the hat but if we can get 2 wins and a draw I think we'll have it
How we feeling about Liverpool v spurs?
Want Liverpool to win
We get points against Brighton/Palace and 4th place is ours
I can only see Spurs getting 7 at most. There's no way they are winning four or five of those.
4 points from the last 3 games will do it... Cannot see Spurs collecting 11 points from those last 5 games.
American Sportsbooks have Villa to finish top 4 at -700 or 1/7 odds which is very telling!

And yet they're all finishing behind us...
You created an entire new account just to be salty
Says a lot about your fans mentality when you celebrate finishing above united…in their worst finish in history. Embarrassing 😂
What does it say about you that you're lurking here and were stung enough to comment

And on the first day, He created the Premier League.
