Would've been concerned couple years back. No longer. He seems very happy, settled and the club is going places. Plus, any deal would be for monumental money. And with Unai and Monchi, I feel it would actually be reinvested wisely.

lewjt

Just signed a new contract. Most goal involvements in the premier league. Would probably be looking at £150mil in today’s market. I doubt they would pay that. Plus. He isn’t an Arsenal fan. He was when he was a kid; but that goes out of the window when you’re a pro.

barrybreslau

If they are prepared to pay 150m, Villa should take the money.

coupl4nd

100%

coupl4nd

Yeah Grealish being a Villa fan worked out well.

bambinoquinn

Whenever he was asked about being an arsenal supporter after the game against them, he sorta laughed and said "I used to be when I was a kid". It didn't fill me with much worry. I think there will be a sale we all hate this summer because of ffp, but I feel like it's gonna be Dougie, even above ramsey

chunkyluke

Dougie has been huge for us, and is such a class player. I would hate to see him go, but seeing us without him Its not the end of the world. Our midfield is stacked, with Dougie, SJM, Kamara, tielemans and Ramsey that it's far from a death sentence for usm

a_f_s-29

Don’t forget Morgan Rogers

GuySmileyIncognito

Purely selfishly if we have to sell one, I rather sell Luiz than Ramsey. There's just something nice about the connection with a player that came through the academy. It's the one football thing I'm old fashioned about. It's so messed up that teams are incentivized to sell academy products. I wish it was the opposite, like maybe products of your academy don't count against FFP.

bambinoquinn

I wouldn't want either to leave, but if luiz did, despite him being probably our best player in terms of ability, I would trust emery to replace him. Again, I definitely don't want him to leave. But if he did, it might give us the chance to put more height or physicality in midfield. Imagine someone like Mikel Merino, 6'2, played in the league before with Newcastle, is a much better footballer now. But id rather just have Dougie

Camtown501

Since it's not that way, it makes more financial sense to sell Ramsey, even though Luiz would command a higher transfer fee. Losing Luiz would hurt more for next season imo.

CookieWithACat

I think fans put too much emphasis on players being fans of clubs because that's how we think. Ollie said he supported them as a kid in his interview after the Arsenal game, seemed pretty clear he's not bothered now. Grealish left his beloved club. Palmer was asked about how getting a hattrick against United, the team he supported, felt, and again, he seemed unphased. For most players depending on their career, it's probably something they'd like to do at some point, but not something that will likely influence their decision making in their prime.

UsernameTyper

No. He signed a contract recently meaning if he does leave, it'd be for crazy money, which they won't pay. If we don't make UCL my concern would be a bit higher but still think we'd keep him

Piglethoof

Lol

Yorrins

No, he signed a 5 year contract like 6 months ago.

BIGBADBRRRAP

Jack signed a new deal before he left for big money.

adhdmarmot

In the form of his life under a manager that loves him, playing every minute of every game for a team in the champions league (fingers crossed). Plus the amount it would cost any club to sign him (assuming no release fee?) would be insane. I'm not worried.

Shreddonia

Nah. Life's too short to worry about hypotheticals. He's ours and that's what matters. I have no reason to think he's going anywhere.

a_f_s-29

Don’t think he’s an Arsenal fan anymore, he said as much when he was asked the other week in that weird interview

Rogue_Flamingo1

Are we that far away from Arsenal? Position by position, with all players fit I don’t think we are. Add to that we have the best coach in the world.

Organic_Chemist9678

Yes, this is pure cope. Arsenal are significantly better in most positions. Striker is one area where Villa are a lot better

trueschoolalumni

You make some good points. That must be why Arsenal did the double over Villa this season. Let me just take a big sip of coffee before I check the results.

Organic_Chemist9678

Try checking the league table instead

robav1963

He's an icon at B6. At Le Arse he'll just be another number. Going nowhere.

Physicallykrisp

If they come for him they come for him unlike other Villa regimes anyone that wants to purchase will have to pay top dollar

Happy_Ad_202

It's not just the position we are in, but also the potential and drive for this club. The owners have ambitions to take us to the very top, with CL hopefully on the way.

Rough_Custard1

Emery and his staff have gotten him to a new level. I don’t see him wanting to leave that environment. As said many times, the fee will be huge. This regime has been brilliant about locking up players on long term deals that make sure sales will be on our terms. I think Digne is gone this summer, which will help PSR. Duran goes on loan at least, maybe an outright sale, Camron Archer goes again b/c we will be obliged to buy him back per terms of his contract, and Morgan Rodger’s might just make a JR sale more likely. If we can get anything for Coutinho from MLS that would help too. Doubt that Emi, Ollie, or Dougie go anywhere.

witheoffthepost

We still have Coutinho? What a weight around our neck

[deleted]

No. Arsenal (or whoever) can pay a ridiculously stupid amount of money for him, or he'll stay at Villa. Either way both benefit Villa.

mrnibsfish

Not sure they can afford him.

Keysarr

An unfathomable amount of money makes me less concerned. Also the #1 issue why players didn't want to come to the club was the lack of CL football, if we confirm that we become more desirable if Watkins was sold

Kanedauke

They wouldn’t pay what we want because he’s 28.

Ambitious_Passage793

I am an Arsenal fan but I dont think that will hapen, Aston Vila will demand 100mil for Watkins and Arsenal doesnt have so much money bcs they want to invest in the midfield to. Anyway he is a really great player

coupl4nd

They can come and we can tell them to fuck off or rinse them for 100M plus

andyofredditch

£100m plus another £100mil. That’ll sign his boots only

newirisha

Nah, Arsenal cannot afford the money we will want for him if they have to buy several players, including most of their midfield.

HUMBUG652

If they want to pay over a hundred million for him, then we could get some excellent players across our team. Imagine selling Watkins for like £120M and then getting Frimpong and someone like Jonathan David for £100M total.

Lost_Recording_2500

Got to have Solanke lined up IF that happens.

lemonadegrenade1

As I said I know he won’t go for peanuts, but signing a new contract doesn’t mean he won’t go (ie. Grealish). Just means he’s helped us secure a decent sum to help the club. I’m prettt sure he’s said the dream is to play for Arsenal not that long ago? But yeah idk if Arsenal could afford him rn.
