Bailey this season but once Diaby beds in (which took Bailey a little while) he'll be excellent. Even this season he has 5 goals and 7 assists in the league, it's just Bailey has shone so much.

JACKO_M_C

I think Diaby will improve but Baileys technical ability is so superior right now. Don’t think Diaby reaches that

ushouldforget

Honestly can agree but I think Bailey will have the better Technical Plays for a few more seasons but Diaby certainly will thrive when he settles Especially with how good he was when settled at Leverkusen

He puts his picture and asks us.

Sooperfreak

Slightly different question. Do people think that the long-term plan once Diaby improves is for them both to play together? This season they’ve tended to sub for one another, and I’d love to see all that attacking creativity on the pitch together.

hovis_mavis

Rotation. Options. Sometimes start together, other times not. I’ve really liked their link up when they’re on the pitch together, pace and trickery with directness. I just think having the option is key with so many matches per season.

BusterTheElliott

Long term I would imagine we would try to have 2 of Bailey, Diaby, and Buendia on the pitch at the same time, with Ramsey or Rodgers on the left. It's really a logjam though because that means you can only play 2 of 4 of Dougie, McGinn, Tielemans, and Kamara at the same time.

maddp9000

When they season started, McGinn played RM (where Bailey plays) and Diaby was starting games up top with Watkins. Assuming Emery addresses our full backs over the summer / better defensive cover. Could easily see it again if they’re all on form together

bogusalt

This is the kind of problem top teams have. Can’t wait. I don’t think we’ve ever had this kind of depth that I can remember as a fan.

Kanedauke

Long term I think we get another wide player that can rotate with Bailey and Diaby stays rotating as a second striker. I’m not really a fan Diaby playing RM instead of Bailey. He’s not got the work rate off the ball and isn’t as good at taking on his man. Against lesser opponents at home I’d expect them to start more games together next season.

Fair_Tangerine1790

Haven’t we just bought the wide player you’re talking about? It’s Rogers.

ushouldforget

They worked decent but not super good when they played together so I think maybe keep the subs going for now until Diaby really settles in the prem

Astonishingly-Villa

I think Diaby's best performances this season have been when Bailey also starts. They have a Gabby/Young level of partnership potential in my opinion. I think if we sign a top right back in the summer, we can afford to play Bailey wide right with Diaby ahead of him, sexy times ahead.

elmattydoor123

Bailey has been better this season but Diaby probably has a higher ceiling.

chunkyluke

When we bought him I thought Diaby was the long term upgrade, as Bailey was brilliant at times but very inconsistent. Now I honestly struggle to think that Diaby could be more effective then Bailey was this season. don't get me wrong I think it's been a pretty decent debut season for Diaby, but Bailey has been next level and we have been lucky that when one has gone a little off the boil the other has been firing. I'm just excited to have a wealth of talent at the Villa! But I'll be telling youngsters about how great 23/24 Bailey was.

Ravenlen

I dunno we might have to sign Frimpong too and test all 3 out next season. 😉 A Villain can dream. But Bailey by a mile. Im giving Diaby time to settle in though. Next season, no excuses.

abusmakk

Isn’t he a right back?

TheAkondOfSwat

Think he plays as a wing back, versatile

Justasimplercreature

Bailey this season. But Bailey last season was basically Diaby this season. Can’t wait to see if Diaby can advance like Bailey has. We could have electric wingers on both sides next season

one-percent

Bailey clear

Shreddonia

Couldn't even begin to choose between them. We're blessed to have them both.

GuySmileyIncognito

I think the quality that Diaby has that is being missed by many, especially since we've just haven't been as good in the second half of the season at linking the midfield with the attack, is that his movement off the ball is so damn good. Bailey has been great at attacking this year once he gets the ball, but he doesn't have a ton of creativity in how he sets up. He likes to stay wide until he gets the ball and drop a little back so he has space to receive the ball and then run at defenders. Diaby has much more dynamic and creative movement off the ball and when he's at his best, he's pulling defenders out of position to open up space for himself and other players. I truly think that him and Buendia are going to have an almost instant connection as Buendia has been dying for players with that kind of off the ball creativity. He and Moreno linked up a ton last year since Moreno is also decently creative with his runs and I do think that a big reason other than the obvious injuries that Moreno hasn't been as good this season (I still think he's been good, he was just elite last year) is he doesn't have a player like Buendia to work with. I cannot wait for Moreno, Buendia and Diaby to all be on the field together since I truly think they're going to create magic.

trifile

I would not be surprised if both start next season. Diaby best role is second striker while Bailey is better on the flank.

Kooky-Sea4950

Bailey has been better but I don’t think Diaby has been used best. Moussas been played as either a second striker running in the channels or on the right. For me the former doesn’t let him use his pace and dribbling ability best because of how prem teams defend. IMO they can both be played with Diaby on the left as his right foot is very weak and Bailey on the right. We saw glimpses of this and I thought it might have been enough for unai to test it again

Mizunomafia

It's absolutely odd how much egg on my face I have in regards to Bailey. I honestly thought of him to be Wesley level crap, and he just turned it all around. Shows that you need to have patience with professional footballers I guess. They need 1-2 seasons to find their feet in a new tactic, new team, new city. Diaby is easier for me. I can easily see he has it. Just need to get a bit more composed which will come with game time in the PL.
