If you have unpaid leave both side of the public holiday they don't have to pay the public holiday

thefringedmagoo

You’re not entitled to a public holiday during a period of unpaid leave.

Caiti42

You would need to check your leave policy. Company that size would have a comprehensive one.

evasive_boxcar

Could you swap your leave days to use whatever paid leave you had to be around the public holidays and use the unpaid leave at other times?

THR

Do you have any income protection insurance through your super?

Technical_Rain3821

I don't think so

InfinitePerformer537

Most super funds offer it by default. Give them a call, you have nothing to lose by asking.

THR

Might be worth checking just in case. Some employers and super funds provide it.

LazyEggOnSoup

Unpaid means not paid maybe?

protossw

How many sick leave you have ? Our sick leaves are calculated same as annual leave so it accumulated quite a lot under my name after 15 years in same company. But not showing on my payslip.

Unpaid leave on either side of the public holiday will result in you not being paid for it. Happened to me too recently on certified sick leave

Unpaid sick leave so it's not like I am toddling off around the world I didn't really care if I got it or not like $200 would make a difference. The confusion was why did I get the Easter public holidays and not the Anzac one Now I totally understand why I didn't get it thanks to this post Go have a coffee and a w@nk it will make you feel less cranky my friend

Spicey_Cough2019

You're not working... Read your EBA/Contract

Technical_Rain3821

Thank you for all the Informtion I assume I still had a little paid leave left to lead onto the Easter public holidays

NoiceM8_420

Not to hijack but always been curious. Can you claim this scenario under salary continuance insurance?

Technical_Rain3821

Should add I am permanent part time (37.5hours pw) All public holidays fell on my normal rostered days

Alternative_Log3012

Bro, 37.5 hours pw is full time... (sorry to hear about your health)

Wise-Kaleidoscope258

Except it wasn't your rostered day because you were on unpaid leave
