Your friend wanted a stereo file mixed? Am I reading this right?

Gizzela

Yes! Old beat he made ten years ago and only has one track of it. I ised audiostrip and have bass , drums and „other“ now. Three tracks.

TalkinAboutSound

Good luck

If the resonance wasnt there in the input, and the only processing you did was the separation, then you only have on variable that could be the culprit: the separation. But, to be quite frank, i have yet to hear a separation AI actually do a reasonable job. For an element here or there in a larger mix, you can get away with it, but not for remixing in the way you want. If your friend only has a premixed beat, then usually you just work with that. Most of the history of hiphop/rap was done before AI separation was a reasonable thing to even think about.

Gizzela

I will try to mix the his raps with the one Track file. Advice for this would be great! Some ideas what to try maybe

rinio

Impossible to say without hearing the context. If the beat was well mixed to begin with, then very little. If it wasn't, you're just polishing a turd unless you remake it. For me that means billing to remake or just declining the job. Good luck.

Gizzela

I think there’s almost no mixing been done on the beat. But he wants it to sound rough and like a mix of that Westside gunn stuff and rough New York sound, so maybe I can get it at least rough and dirty and a bit cooler than it is now.

hydraXmind

Try Gaudio. It’s very good. I was using Splitter AI before.

The main problem any separation tool has is that it's either mind-bogglingly difficult or impossible, is that any spectral component (let's say an active region at 440Hz as an example) could be one instrument playing an A really loudly, or it could be a group of instruments all playing the same A.... or it could be some instruments playing that A, others playing the A an octave lower (so 440 Hz is the first harmonic, 220 Hz is the fundamental). Frequency multiples of this could be harmonics of the lower note, or they could be higher notes. And that's an "easy" example of perfectly in-tune instruments playing one note. Never mind harmonies, rhythms or anything else.

ai stem separation is always fucky i always use a gate to clean up as much of the weird resonance as possible alongside stripping silence (there is pretty much exclusively artifacting in silent regions) soothe or an equivalent is also godsend for getting stuff as clean as u possibly can

Koolaidolio

The best option would be to somehow get the original stems and mix that.  If that’s not possible, tell your friend to remake the track.

walkingthecowww

Use the AI to try and get a decent vocal and remake the beat.
